Question Android Auto problem - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Hello, very good day.
I have a Mi 11 ultra Global but since I bought it I have not been able to connect it to android auto, it seems to be a problem with the cable or with the usb input of my xiaomi (video attached) but I tried with another device with the same cable and it works , I tried the usb input of my device with miui extended setting app and it shows stable "usb connected".
I tried with the original usb cable, delete data, updates from google and the android auto app.
Does anyone have this problem or something similar that can help me with the solution?
I am currently on the latest beta version of EU ROM

Thanks for your answer, when I made this post I had already read those 2 posts but my last option was to buy another cable.
And that solved the problem! I actually needed a better cable for this phone, I tried with a p30 lite and p40 pro and android auto worked well with my old cable and the xiaomi did not.
Thank you again for your answer and the issue is already resolved, I recommend the ANKER 3.1 gen 2 cable

AA (Galaxy S6 and S4) stopped working on Skoda Fabia 2016

Hi,
I used to be able to launch android auto on my galaxy s6 Skoda Fabia 2016. It also used to work with a galaxy s4.
About a month ago (or more), it stopped working:
When I connect the phone, AA is launched but the exists and the USB connection is reset. I can see in my task manager that AA is active in background.
I can connect with MirrorLink, but I rather use AA.
The car didn't go through any upgrades so I guess the blame is at AA.
I tried replacing USB cables, resetting the AA on my phone, changing USB connection from MTP to all other possible options... nothing helps.
Any ideas?
AA found that new version is available, but you are somehow frozen during inicialization.
Please provide following info:
1. AA version (go to Application Manager -> current is 1.6.281040
2. in Application manager press FORCE STOP for AA. If you have any cash data for AA, remove it
3. (OPTIONAL). IN skoda HeadUnit, go to settings -> Factory Reset -> Navigate to FUllink/SkodaLink/Whatever link and have reset of AA/Mirrorlink
4. check in mobile, that AA is not running. If yes, clear it from memory!
5. connect via USB, go to Headunit and launch Android Auto. You should go thru setup phase and everything should work.
Fast check if you need update of AA:
Launch AA application, if you see Update/Upgrade banner, you need to perform above. If you are unsure, create a screenshot and i can advise.

Thanks for the instructions but it didn't help
My AA version is 1.6.281040. No update\upgrade banner when I open the app.
I tried all of the above steps (force stop + clear data and cache + factory reset my car smartlink) but the result is the same:
When I try to connect the car- AA launches and immediately goes to the background and the connection fails.
Any other ideas?
How can I debug this?
questions
Hi,
1. before launching AA, is bluetooth on your phone activated and you are paired with Skoda HeadUnit? You should be able to make a call via HeadUnit with buttons on wheel/buttons on headunit. Working bluetooth connection is mandatory prereq for working AA yet (USB cable is just not enough)
2. USB cable - i have seen situations, when setup has been not working with long cable or chinese fake cable. Try to use short original factory cable 0.3m maximum from Samsung (should be white), this works
3. what ROM are you using? Its original rom from SAMSUNG? If yes, please indicate build number+version. If not, this may be problem as non-original rom doesn't support DPIchange yet.
4. You can enable devel mode. enable usb debugging on android side + in AA - follow http://www.androidexplained.com/android-auto-developer-mode/
5. do you see on mobile at least ANDROID AUTO label for second?
6. where are you located? S6 is oficially supported phone on SkodaHU, so you may also ask support from importer via dealer.
Hey,
over at the Mazda headunit project, with a opensource custom AA, there is problems too. It appears that a new version of "Google Play Services" broke AA.
Play services is a sort of API that broker things like GPS and USB for apps.
Last working version is 9.0.83. Your timeline fits with the issue of the affected versions. Please send a bug report to Google to get them to fix it : [email protected]

Bluetooth is working and connected to the car.
I tried several different USB cables (originals and non-originals) but none helped.
I'm using stock rom: 6.0.1 build number MMB29K.G920FXXU3DPEK
5. do you see on mobile at least ANDROID AUTO label for second? I see AA launches and then it moves to the background. I don't see the "Android auto" overlay that was usually there.
I'll try contacting Skoda representative but since nothing has changed in the car unit, I believe it's a software issue in the phone.

Sounds like my issue. I posted in the forum link.
After reading through he posts in @soulz link, I found a solution:
https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/play/tflL2_GCj4s/Y5Ens5WxBwAJ
Basically, I disabled the following services:
ReschedulerUsingAlarmManager
ReschedulerUsingBroadcast
This needs root! but it works like a charm.
Now, all that's left to do is wait for Google to fix the play services issue.

Android Auto in KIA C'eeD + Xiaomi Redmi 4X

Dear all,
I own a fresh Kia C'eed with a fully functioning (LCD display) Head Unit and support both for Android and Apple phones.
I am trying to connect my (relatively new) Xiaomi Redmi 4X to it. Everything else works (e.g. Bluetooth connection), EXCEPT the Android Auto feature.
Specifically, when I connect it via USB cable it briefly shows that it tries to connect and then reverts to charging mode.
Moreover, I see from Google Play that my phone is not compatible with Android Auto, which I think is the main problem.
My phone's specs are:
- Android Version: 7.1.2 N2G47H
- MIUI Version: MIUI Global 9.1 | Stable [9.1.1.0 (NAMMIEI)]
It supports over the air updates (and has done some already) and - based on what I read in the forum - people have made Android Auto work with the Xiaomi Global ROM.
QUESTIONS:
Shouldn't then my phone work ok?
If not, how could I fix this, save for flashing my ROM?
If all else fails, is there some alternative app that mirrors Android phones on a car Head Unit?
Thank you in advance for your time.
Am answering my own query for the record here:
It turns out Xiaomi Redmi 4X _does_ support Android Auto. It was simply not supported in my country. In such a case, simply download the apk from a mirror site (e.g. apkmirror) and install it.
Then all will work well with the car.
In case of connection issues (a) reboot your phone, (b) make sure you have a data connection active (for some maybe needed updates) and (c) replace the USB cable if all else fails.
Then, all works like a charm.
cheers!

As mentioned in my original post, you can e.g. go to: h**ps://***.apkmirror.com, find and download the latest APK for Android Auto and install it. That's all.
I have a problem to establish a USB connection between my KIA Cerato head unit and Xiaomi A1 and A2 phones.
The phones are not recognised, which means that Android Auto is not working on the car's LCD screen.
Bluetooth connection works just fine, so Phone and Music can be played via KIA Entertainment unit.
In the same time Nokia G20 connects seamlessly with Android Auto working properly.
Is there any workaround for Xiaomi phones?

Android Auto not working, Mi 9t Pro

Does Android auto work for anyone else?
I get no indication it's detecting it. I've tried the cable that came with and a third party
It works fine with a OnePlus 5

I am on xiaomi.eu ROM V11.0.3.0.QFKCNXM_v11-10 (Android 10) and my Andoid Auto is not working.
I tried:
- with installed APP "Android Auto" --> "no connection possible" shown on car display
- without APP --> RED error 8 on phone display
USB Debugging is enabled
Is it better with Android 10 not to install the APP as it should be built into system ?
What else could I try ?
Car: (Skoda fabia 2020, with swing smartlink) on MI9T Pro. Same error, 8. MIU 11, Android 10. Installed Android auto apk from apkmirror, but not showing up as icon. In car, always error 8, time/date. Did a softreboot of radio in car, meaning hold on/off for 10 seconds, after reboot it all worked and now reconnects without problem. Android auto apk from apkmirror I would not do again. Please also set USB debugging to on, have a feeling this is also a problem when off. Then lastly, make sure you have no dual apps, delete these as this is also a known problem.
Hi. I have managed to connect my Android radio with the Carlink accessory, but the Android Auto screen in my car is pixelated. The texts can hardly be read. What can be? Thank you

Android Auto on Xiaomi - Low resolution image casting

Hi,
i would ask you an help about a problem related to Android Auto.
Assumptions:
Phone: Xiaomi RedMi Note 9S
MIUI Version: 13.0.1
Android Version: 12 SKQ1.211019.001
Android Auto Version: 8.0.6.623354-release
Car Head Unit: Sync 3.4 on Ford Puma St-Line X
One week ago i purchased my new car. Everything was perfect, but when i tried to connect my Xiaomi to the Head Unit through Android Auto, i realized that the screen casting had an awful image quality: Android Auto seems in low resolution, and sometimes appear some colour artifacts (photos attached).
So, i tried to understand if the problem was my Car Head Unit, or my Xiaomi. I connected various phone to the Head Unit, and in those cases the connection and the display quality were perfect.
Aswell, i tried to connect my phone to different cars, and to the Android Auto Desktop Emulator, and i kept having always the same horrible quality image.
So, from this i got that the problem was my Xiaomi.
I tried everything: with different USB 3.0 Type C cables, i tried entering developer options and change the resolution, i tried the Debug USB mode, i tried deleting and re-installing Android Auto App, and i tried aswell to download a newer beta-version of AA... nothing worked.
But i discovered something: i tried to connect two other Xiaomis... two Xiaomi RedMi Note 10. I imagined that, being the same phone, they would have had the same results. But...
Xiaomi RedMi Note 10 with MIUI 13.0.3 and Android 12 SP1A = no problems, perfect screen casting
Xiaomi RedMi Note 10 with MIUI 13.0.6 and Android 12 SKQ1 = low resolution, like my Xiaomi RedMi Note 9s
Alle three phones had both the same Android Auto version (8.0.6.623354-release).
So.. it's possible that my Android Auto problem comes from the Android 12 SKQ version?
Someone else had my same problem? There is a way to fix this, or, maybe, to change the Android version from 12SKQ to 12SP1A?

I had that problem on Xiaomi, worked better if you activate developer options and adjust the video resolution in AA

Hi,
I also facing this issue since update to Miui 13
Try this method (worked for me)
1. enable Android auto developer mode
On Android Auto's options page, scroll down to the bottom and you'll see a field called Version. Tap this several times until you see a prompt to enable developer options. Accept this and you'll now be able to access Android Auto developer mode
2. Go to Android auto developer mode setting, there you should find and Set the following Parameters :
- Application Mode : Released
- Video Resolution : Allow car and phone to negotiate
3. Restart Your phone and try connect to car again, all display resolution should back to normal.
Hope it help

Hi Yacald,
sadly in these months i didn't find a solution. I tried asking in every forum, reddit, etc.. but nothing new.
I bought some days ago the "AAWireless dongle": i'll try to check if, using the wireless connection instead of the usb-cable, something changes.
redmi note 9pro
13.0.4 ind
same problem after update
[SOLVED]
@everyone:
I found a way to "get around" the problem. Using the "official" AAWireless dongle ( https://www.aawireless.io/ ), so not using the cabled USB connection, i had no more resolution problems.
I know that buying something else isn't a real solution, but at least this is a way to use AA in a good quality.
Actually there are a lot of cheaper dongles than this on Amazon, but i didn't try them, so don't know if they will resolve aswell the problem.
Hope this will help anyone that was in my situation.
Greetings from Italy
with such success, i can change the phone and not look for a problem )))
I have the exact same problem... Only wifi is our hope?
Hi guys,
I noticed that Android Auto displays with the right resolution for the first moments of connecting the smartphone to the car, after which the resolution is lowered by our Miui.
So, I used SysLog from Play Store, with root permissions, to recorder the logs produced when you connect your smartphone to the car, and I got these lines which I hope for the more experienced guys mean something:
Code:
01-07 11:47:07.490 D/CompatibilityInfo( 2390): mCompatibilityFlags - 0
01-07 11:47:07.491 D/CompatibilityInfo( 2390): applicationDensity - 440
01-07 11:47:07.491 D/CompatibilityInfo( 2390): applicationScale - 1.0
I understand that it would be enough to change the value of applicationDensity at runtime to eliminate the low resolution problem, but I have no idea if it is something that can be done or not, and which Miui application defines this value.
I hope someone with more experience can understand something more and maybe make a fix
Hello all,
I have exactly the same issue since the update from Android 11 to 12.
And no problem with a device always under Android 11.
Problem with this phone :
REDMI Note 10
MIUI 13.0.4 / Android 12
Android Auto 8.5.624594
No problem with this one :
REDMI 10C
MIUI 13.0.3 / Android 11
Android Auto 8.5.624594
I just discovered and try to change the resolution, but without any effect
Have the same issue. Sync 3.4 is the head unit. Has a Redmi note 9 pro. Issue started with miui 13 update.
I finally installed a custom rom and the issue still persists. I hoped that custom rom would solve the issue.
As another user mentioned, for couple of seconds i connect the phone, resolution is excellent. Then it just goes to the low resolution mode. Developer settings and forcing high resolution has no effect .
Same here. Worked flawless before on MIUI 12.
So it is totally a bug in MIUI 13 (Android 12) having Android Auto integrated into the OS now and not having a standalone app anymore.
Again they didn't do their homework.
E: Can confirm that the resolution is fine a few seconds after AA started up but then progresses dynamically to a low resolution. Also I noticed that the sound quality is also decreasing? Sometimes clipping / distortion.
E2: Guys, please give some feedback using the AA feedback option:
System settings > Connection & Sharing > Android Auto > "..." menu > help & feedback.
And also the MIUI internal feedback option: System settings >scroll down to "Services & feedback" > Submit feedback (I selected item = "other google apps")
Let's make them hear us. I send the MIUI developers the MIUI bug report including trace logs and also the below photos/video.
E3: I also opened a bug report for my Xiaomi.eu ROM which is based on the official MIUI rom as well here: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...now-has-low-screen-resolution-and-sound.67888

It’s fine here and with wireless dongle it’s resolution is very high. No problem with Xiaomi, I guess it is your car.

It's the car when the only thing which changed is MIUI? Unlikely. Also take a closer look at the opening post, the user made a screenshot from the emulated head unit. probably running in Android Studio. So if it's even happening in an emulated environment the reason is 1000% clear to me.
Which version of MIUI are you using and Android Auto? Maybe try again with a wired connection as wireless has been identified by one user above to be working around this problem somehow.
E: I now also started MIUI 13's Android Auto together with an emulated Desktop Head Unit (via Android Studio). I face the same issues. So it's clearly MIUI here.
Hello,
Yes indeed, I saw others post where users "solved" this issue with the usb dongle.... Pretty expensive solution
In this article , they're talking about the new Android Auto update, which could be expand to Samsung and Xiaomi devices.... Hope it'll solve this issue
Can confirm that buying a wireless dongle (It's very cheap now on aliexpress), solves the resolution problem. And its good for the phones' battery

Xiaomi 12T Pro - problem with wireless connection to Android Auto

Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with my Xiaomi 12T Pro and Android Auto. I've been using Android Auto wirelessly via Bluetooth on my KIA CEED 2023 MY(wireless support) for the past three weeks without any issues. I even updated my phone to Android 13 and MIUI 14 about 2 weeks ago, and everything still worked fine.
However, couple days ago when I was driving my car, Android Auto suddenly stopped working during my drive. Since then, I've tried factory reset of my KIA infotainment system, network setting reset, unpairing and repairing Bluetooth, and even installing the latest version of the AA mirror apk. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the current version of AA from Google Play, but I still can't connect to Android Auto wirelessly and the only error message is during the attempt of connecting: "The phone is not responding. Try it again".
The connection with a cable works fine. I tried 3 other phones on my car - all work. I tried to connect my Xiaomi 12T Pro to a different car and I have the same problem as on my Kia.
Even Android Auto support seems to be helpless. I shared with them a bug report, tried some suggested setups, but nothing works..
Does anybody have any ideas or have same experience?
Hello, the same thing happens to me with the carplay of my mercedes benz. And driving seems to disconnect my Xiaomi 12T PRO. I still don't have a solution from the manufacturer Xiami or the manufacturer of the carplay module. Is there anyone who can help us?
First of all, make sure you have the latest available firmware for your headunit. I don't know where you live but in some regions the Kia and Hyundai headunits can be upgraded by using the Kia Navigation Update application and a spare USB thumbdrive.
This said, I've had similar issues in a Kia Rio when using Android Auto wirelessly:
* Make sure the hour and date are set correctly in your headunit. Sometimes the headunit craps itself while trying to get the GPS hour and it sets incorrectly, wich causes conectivity issues with Android Auto
* Make sure your phone is not connected to any other bluetooth device before connecting to the headunit. I have a couple Xiaomi phones and neither of them is able to use Wireless Android Auto if they're connected to a wireless headphones, a laptop or a smartwatch. I don't understand why this happens but only happens with Xiaomi phones.
* MIUI has a battery optimization feature wich kills some apps and background services to save energy. Even if you disable it for some of your apps, sometimes a MIUI update will override this and cause problems. Make sure Android Auto, Google Maps, your music app and your messaging apps are excluded from the battery saver features, and make sure Google Maps has the location permission set to "all the time".
* Unpair your phone from the headunit and sync it again.
* Go to Android Auto settings (in your phone) and make sure that Wireless Android Auto toggle is enabled. Disable the Android Auto's developer mode if it's enabled.
* Factory reset the headunit and try to sync your phone again. The first time you sync the phone, do it with the USB cable.

Turn off power saving settings clear cache when locked & disable mobile data when locked
then Check battery saving settings for android auto app and system service. Also turn off miui memory optimization, just because. It always fcks up background processes at little gain to the user.
Edit: apparently most of these settings are gone in MIUI14.0.5 global rom/Android 13
Thanks for your advice guys. Meantime, I did a factory reset, and since then everything works fine.
ALas its a miui bug known since ages. If the device for whatever reason losses connection to the mobile network the devs somehow made sure the device disconnnects any Wifi connection. Hence AA stopping working.
Want to test tthis?
Simply deactivate mobile data on your phone and activate it again.
