OK, so I have to use my fingerprint to unlock my phone. For me this gets annoying when I am in my car or extremely busy working and my screen times out. this wouldn't be so much of a problem if the note 4 had lollipop but we dont at the moment.
I solved this using the following:
Root
Xposed
and a module called NO LOCK HOME
You can set it to any bluetooth or wi-fi connection, or to a specific one. I set mine to my car but changed it to any bluetooth because of my moto 360 and hands free are the only other devices that connect over bluetooth. Plus if you go out of range it auto locks or when the the screen is off depending on your settings.
you can download NO LOCK HOME straight from xposed installer
Hi,
After several months using AA in a Golf MY16 with two different smarphones with Android 5.0 & 5.1, using different AA releases, then I have found one "use case" when the AA "fails" (=disconnects from the HU):
* When you're driving inside a tunnel and the car's GPS losses the signal, in this case the AA *always* disconnects from the Head Unit.
Did you have a similar experience?
Hi,
No one with similar behaviour? :silly:
No problem with my 2016 Jetta. Google Maps says me that GPS signal was lost but there is no error. Are you sure it's using the car GPS ? I find it is not very accurate at some places.. Which phones do you use ? I found Marshallow more stable than Lollipop with Android Auto. I had connection drops with 5..1.1 but it was random and not related to GPS signal lost. No problem at all with 6.0.

Thank you for the report! I'm using Lollipop 5.0 & 5.1 in two different smartphones. I'll check with some spare MM 6.0 when I have time.
:good:
you are welcome.
It seems that Android Auto is using the phone GPS (at keast with the VW head unit) Just try to disable the phone GPS before connecting the phone to the car and start Maps : you will be asked to enable the GPS. Really sad.
Hi,
If it's true that AA is using internal (phone) GPS instead of car GPS (almost in a Golf MY16), then the problem can be when the PHONE losses the GPS data... Even, I feel the real problem is: the phone likes to say "GPS disconnected" and the disconnection ocurs because some trouble exists with the audio output.
I also detected that sometimes when a WhatsApp is received, also the AA is disconnected. I hope Google can fix this trouble with the "AUDIO OUTPUT".
You have a similar problem?

Yes I got something similar when trying to run Waze in the background. Waze audio notification made the connection drop. It was with 5.1..1. I can have a try with Marshallow.
UPDATE : no problem at all with Marshallow (CM13) : I was able to run Maps and Waze at the same time. Got Waze audio notifications. No USB connection drop. The only issue is my Nexus 4 did a shutdown because it was overheating but it's a common issue with the Nexus.

Thanks for the info! :good:
I suspect the problem is then related to the audio route inside Android 5.x
Hi,
More info:
Using Android 5.x, VW Golf MY2016 with CAR GPS, and last AndroidAuto App, the GPS signal is comming... FROM THE PHONE! So, yes, VW is not sending GPS signal to the AA process. In this case, when the phone losses the GPS signal, the AA process crashes. This is then the problem in my system: when GPS signal is lost inside a tunnel, then the HeadUnit disconnects with the AA process.
I hope Google fixes soon this problem. Also, I hope VW can upgrade the MIB software for sending ALL car data (including GPS position and ORIENTATION) to the AA process.
Regards.
And hope a droid will accept that data.

Yes I'm afraid AA is too much complicated. It crashes for many phones. Manufacturers doesn't implement all the features but imagine you have to build a head unit with GPS, Car Play, Android Auto, MIrrorlink... and all these subsystems (that does the same job : screen mirroring) have to send car and gps data to phones. using all the protocols. That's just crazy. And when it works you get frustrated because of usage limitations.
Hi all, I am able to connect my Mi 9 to my car android head unit with hotspot no problem at all. Connection is fine, but there is no internet on my headunit. When I hotspot with my Nexus 6P it works fine. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have looked at the phone wap settings but they are all good because data works on my phone, so there is a problem on the mi9 to head unit.
I have my Mi 9 turning Hotspot on automatically when it senses my car Bluetooth pairing, in order that my in-car Echo Dot can reach the internet - it works fine every time.
Have you set up something unusual in the head end like a fixed IP address that doesn't match the address range the phone gives out?
There is no possible ip settings on the head unit. When I had this issue once with my Nexus6P it was due to a problem with android 8.1 when upgraded. When I reverted back to the previous version, it worked fine. So I am having the same issue that's why I was thinking it might be an issue with the software. But I will try check out your suggestions incase there are some hidden settings. Thank you

How did you set this up? Did you root and use tasker with hotspot nougat fix?
Everything is connected with just hotspot from my phone and wifi on the headunit. It worked fine with my old Nexus 6P phone. Pic attached

have a problem with the bluetooth connection constantly dropping and then reconnecting on my 2017 F150 sync3 . Have tried resetting network connections, clearing the cache on the bluetooth app, turned off app sleeping. Any other suggestions? I have had an Iphone and a S7 connected to this same vehicle and had no problems.

Bluetooth is always very tricky thing to diagnose. I had some issues with my Pixel 2 + Galaxy Watch, not connecting to my 2016 VW GTI, if my watch was connected prior to connecting to the vehicle(worked fine otherwise). Now my MINI Cooper S doesn't care who is connected earlier and connects fine to any phone including my S10e. None of the scenarios had Bluetooth disconnecting/reconnecting from the vehicle.
Ask FORD to see if there is any Infotainment system software update for your vehicle and also try deleting old paired devices from your car's stereo that are no longer used.
Maybe is found on road dead
When i had my pixel 5, the Bluetooth automatically turned on after a few minutes of driving, i can't find how to do that in pixel 7. Options does not looks to be the same...
How can i do that or what can i use as an alternative?
Android Auto as alternative
That's why i want Bluetooth on, if it's activated android auto will connect directly.
You can probably do it in Tasker, but I am not sure how you would detect you are in the car. Constant GPS checking would be power hungry.
Assuming you have home WiFi, a partial solution would be to turn Bluetooth on when it no longer sees your router. You can even turn it back off when you get home.
