Question Gcam mod flash light issue - Redmi Note 10 Pro

I have tried several gcam mod on redmi note 10 pro. Everything working flawlesly but when I turned flash on for taking picture it does not flash brightly. But on other camera with facebook, whatsapp take picture with duel flash and it is bright. Anyway to make flashlight bright with gcam?

I have this problem too in my redmi note 10 pro!!! Flash light in all the apps externals is not powerful as in the stock camera app. But I think you are wrong when you Say that "facebook" and "WhatsApp" use same flashlight power as stock camera app, because also those apps are limited in flash power!!! The flash intensity Is not like the default camera app... What Is wrong so? I suppose that It's some limit in camera2api...because if I use some apps that let to switch beetween "camera2api" and stock camera api, the flash problem Is only with "camera2api" mode...

Modded Google Cam on Mix 2

Created this thread to share working settings for our Mix 2 + IMX 386 on the latest Modded Google Cam. Feel free to share your working setups for Google Cam
Version Google Cam V4.0
ROM: Xiaomi.eu 9.22
Settings: See picture attachments below
What doesnt work:
HDR+ with Flash On
Autofocus
Tap to focus
Manual Focus Fix:
Swipe left to go into video mode and tap to focus before going back into picture mode
It have the same main camera sensor as Mi 6 which also do not have autofocus and touch to focus to work.
It's quite annoying when it doesn't have HDR+ and autofocus together, hope it can be fixed in future version

You can manual focus using this workaround: Swipe left to go into video mode and tap to focus before going back into picture mode
Does the new version of Google GCam mod support Autofocus yet?
Has anyone tried the Google Camera v5.1 yet?

I tried to install google camera, installed successfully, but stop working. keep give me error. so I can not run it.
If you want to test the latest versions for Modded Google Cam, check the MIi6 thread related to this, there are regular updates as soon as they are released by the original modders:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-6/themes/google-camera-hdr-t3655762
What I found out: The Oneplus Camera also works on Mi Mix 2.
Also I think this is the original thread for the modded Google Camera: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/modded-google-camera-hdr-60fps-video-t3658552/ and it works for the Mi Mix 2 too.

Does not work for me. Are you on miui or custom rom? Which version of gcam worked for you?
MIUI EU ROM and Magisk + Camera2 API Enabler Magisk Module
how is the mix2 with this, any samples? im considering this because ive had enough of the s8 and want pure android with the performance to boot, where as the s8 just doesn't cut it but the camera is amazing
Autofocus doesnt work with HDR/HDR+ enabled. The camera works fine with auto focus without HDR features. I HDR+ is the reason why you want this mod then we are out of luck, its no better than the default MIUI cam.. may be a tad better NR processing on low light images.

Are you sure auto focus works for the default cam app when having HDR enabled? It doesn't at least for me. Thus I see no difference between GCam mod, Oneplus camera and default camera. Also, manually focusing seems to work without the left swipe.

So, I am writing this based on my experience on my Mi6 (Mi Mix 2 still has a locked bootloader for now), when you activate the HDR+ the autofocus will die, at that point you focus in Video mode, go back to Photo and take the picture.
In that way the HDR+ is working properly and as expected. You just need to keep your hands steady.
Also, on Mi6 has been reported that the Autofocus is working now with the latest version (with some bugs and messing around with the OmniVision module):

My Autofocus works with HDR+ on, I got the APK from the mi 6 thread (b-s-g camera).

Any improvement in low light? What about portrait mode with the mix2? Is it working?
any sample images?

Ok, I've been testing the kenzo build, but same error, autofocus stop working with HDR+ on.
By the way, I think anyone must work on this for our device... the differences betweet photos taken with MIUI camera and Google Camera are very big...
This is with Google Camera on HDR+
This is with MIUI Camera on HDR

As can be seen, the HDR+ post processing is very much better than MIUI original.

Pixel Camera Ported with HDR+ , portrait mode (with both front and back camera now).

I found a fix on a youtube channel for portrait mode for front camera after a lot of googling. The key is to set a manual iso (idk why) while using front camera. The link to that is here
https://drive.google.com/file/d/16BT6C02pgvO3usJxCe8C0u_sVi9CbMOI/view?usp=sharing
Instruction -
Enable camera2api.
Download app, instalL.
Open settings and then do the settings u like.(i use pixel 2 and pixel 2017 zsl+ ) and other obvious settings( like turning on portrait mode etc.)
After that set the MANUAL FIXED BLACK LEVEL ONSET to 63.50 and enable.
Now everytime you use the front camera you have to turn that left slider (which i think is of iso) to 100 or any other value from auto, then hdr+ and portrait mode in front camera will also work.
This is not my work , i am only sharing it.
Credits to people who made this (arnovag2 ,TCHNO VKKI youtube channel guy etc.)
This is my first post and i dont really know what to add in your posts ,(also not liking typing this much) but i thought everyone should know this fix.
Hit thanks if this helped you.(actually idk what thanks is for LOL)
Cheers!

I checked it ... it doesn't work in miui globle stable rom 9.2.5 in redmi4....i also tried many apks but no one is running correctly if front cam works back cam doesn't even some of didn't even opening and keeps closing all the time...(my phone is rooted and camera2 api is enabled)
the app on works in custom roms like rr rom, pixel experience rom...
It works, thanks! Tested on redmi 4x with MIUI9.2. Just don't go with the ISO too high. ISO3200 and above force crash camera app.
Front & Back portrait working nicely. But video recording getting some continues sound.

Make Gcam main camera app?

Hi all,
I apologize if this had been answered but, is there any way to make the Gcam port recognized as the main camera app?
The reason I ask is because I want to map it to the gesture shortcuts and it will only let me map the Mi camera.
Thanks
Hi, just try disabling the mi camera - your other camera should be recognized as stock then.
I've done the same with the mi fotos app (since I prefere google photos) - I disabled the app, now I can use google fotos from Mi camera.
Edit: it could result in unexpected behaviour (e.g. bootloop or whatever) so on your own risk ^^
I really don't want to do that but I would wait with google camera. The MI camera is pretty sick (at least on the MI9) and the gcam kinda sucks and is lacking tons of important features. Consider your options here ^^

Such as?
If go to settings > Manage Apps > Three dots in top corner > Default Apps
You can then set a default for Camera. When i click on my Camera option I can pick either Stock cam or Gcam. Can only pick by Icon though, I have a diff icon for Gcam
I havnt tried this for mapping purposes but hopefully works
Undecided which I prefer so far of the two cameras

Don't take it personally. The google camera mod has been amazing (for my previous Redmi devices) but it's really hard recommending it at this point.
It just keeps crashing on my device and I can't record @60fps. The MIUI camera really caught up
Back to the task at hand: you can set the google camera as your default camera but the shortcut will still open the MI camera (same analogy like the photo galleries). Try disabling the MI camera app (you can try it via adb - just check out the link I've posted!) but be careful! It can result in unexpected behaviour - such as bootlooping or constant crashing reports etc.
Good luck ^^ feel free to tell us how it went.

The stock camera is better overall. The one area where gcam does excel is night shot. Other than that, the contrast is overblown on gcam (dark colors look darker than they should, and the bright ones look brighter than they should, which results in exaggerated detail)
And for video, 4k60 is really good on the stock camera, and isn't available on gcam.

GCam 6.1 for Huawei P Smart (2018)

Hello everyone! Before starting this article , I would like to say that this Gcam port doesn't belong to me. There are multiple developers that worked on this , i'm here just to share the link and my experience with it.
"Story" :
Anyways , I've had my P Smart for a year now, And I mostly bought it for the camera.
After using it for about 7 months , I really saw how poor the processing is on the stock camera app. So I decided to look at some solutions to my problem.
One of the main problems with the stock camera for me was the "Portrait Mode" and "Wide Aperture". They were really bad on EMUI 8.0 and they are just as bad on EMUI 9.1. And well, Here is Gcam to solve the problem
My experience with it:
I've been using this Gcam port for a while and I can say that it is amazing.
Things that work really well:
-HDR,HDR+, the zoom is waaay better
-Portrait mode works like a charm and looks very good (only works on humans, not objects)
-Video Recording (also you can easily stabilize the videos from the Google Photos app)
-Photo sphere
What doesn't work:
-Night Sight
-Slow-mo
-Panorama
-Taking a photo with no HDR
What kind of works :
-RAW ( has a really weird green tint on the pic)
Photos:
All of these photos were taken with the stock camera (Emui 9.1) and Gcam
1)Stock Camera, Normal mode, No zoom
2)GCam , HDR+ enabled, No zoom
3)Stock camera , Normal mode, Full zoom
4)GCam , HDR+ enabled ,Full zoom
As you can see , the dinamic range is way better on GCam
VERY IMPORTANT!!
Settings before you use it!
The default settings are wrong. You first need to go to "More" then "BSG settings" and then set the saturation as you like , otherwise the photos look dead
And well , here is the link Just like I said , THIS MOD DOESN'T BELONG TO ME!
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/MGC_6.1.009_MI8_V1a.apk
Like this post if this helped ya , Have a nice day
I've been using this for a long while got it from honor 9 lite forums. Here are the settings that I use. Front camera isn't very good though always makes lights pink and even rear camera sometimes does it but I try to fix it in snapseed.
If you do have good settings for front cam let me know!

Well , the saturation settings don't really matter , it's about preference,
But I think it's some sort of glitch from the app itself, and to avoid the glitch , you always have to focus on the point where is the most light. here are my setting tho , and an example of the pink tint on my p smart
I cannot seem to get video to work, everytime I try the app just closes. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

mi a2 gcam front camera only 5mp ?

Is there anyway to use the full 20mp in front facing camera.. All gcam takes default 5mp by pixel binding.. also flash didn't work like stock... It acts like a torch while capturing photo

i am using miui 12 pie and both stock and gcam are working at the same time .....
both have their advantages....
1. gcam uses pixel binning ( combining ) them
_so your camera is not really using 5mpx ..it is using max pixels merged into a 5mpx output_
_this might give you a good or better looking photo than some 20mpx sensors on some phones
_people use gcam because of Google's theoretical excellence in processing photos *** therefore better photos than stock ... because if you feel.stock has better photos than there is no argument for using gcam
2. gcam mods which allow you to choose to manually force the gcam to use the secondary ( aux ) exist ...you can use it in combo with magisk modules
_dont expect a giant leap in photo quality since our aux sensor is for low light ...and was never meant not even by Xiaomi to act as the main shooter
_stock camera changing between sensors automatically while in gcam.you will. have to.do.it manually _
_VERY IMPORTANTLy ...our aux sensor is NOT api2 compliant only our main sensor ...as per Xiaomi ...so Xiaomi needs to fix that if it can be fixed....that is why our phone isn't released with api2 enabled..
Options:
1. Use magisk module in stock rom to get stock camera
2. Use stock rom to use miui 12 pie to get both stock and gcam working at the same time
3. Use gcam with aux sensor select button in settings to activate it manually in custom rom
4. buy a jasmine or wayne device and donate it to gcam.modder or dev stating your wish that he/she fixes it so it runs how you feel.it should run
I'm pretty certain this info is old and if you looked you'd find all the magisk modules and gcams and mods and info floating around ...
go check out the official gcam mods page for devs working on cams for our device and try them.all to find the one you like best and maybe give them.a small donation
try out the stock cam magisk module to see if it works correctly on custom rom
failing that just your miui with magisk to have it all.
Stock makes great depth of field photos imho
Gcam takes richer photos in general like but if you aren't careful you might run in oversaturation ..more options
_you can enable arcore and ar stickers by magisk mod and using patched playground from gcam mods page
This doesn't seem to be a GCam issue... All camera apps just see 5MP for the front and secondary back camera. It's probably an internal issue with Camera2Api?
