No WiFi on Custom Roms - No MAC - LG V40 Questions & Answers

I have had one heck of a time getting roms to work on my LG V40. I had to recover from a Sahara error by flashing some backups I found online, got DL/FB and then used LGUP. When I flash a KDZ my WiFi works, but when I flash any Android 10 based rom, I get LTE but no WiFi. If I flash 11 based I get no IMEI (I forget if I get WiFi, don't want to test again, unless this fix will possibly fix that too).
How can I resolve this? Is there something I can backup w/ QFIL/TWRP when I'm on stock KDZ and flash again after ROM (and what step would I do this, after full boot or before?)
I also think I've permanently broken SafetyNet, just curious if anyone has it working or if I actually broke it.

Well good you got past the sahara errors. I'm unaware of any general fix for all aosp roms for this wifi issue. I'd suggest to post/search in whichever aosp rom you're trying. The issue I think will be specific to it. Also consider joining the v40 tele group (invite is at top of lineage thread), I know I've seen others post this same problem but not sure if any solution has been found.
cheers

I actually broke my phone even worse last night, used the "erase all" in QFIL and had no partitions. Managed to recover via rawprogram0.xml. This seemed to fix the WiFi issue, the issue wasn't ROM specific really as I tried multiple ROMs. I think I had somehow partially broken my modem partitions. Thankfully I had them backed up, as after flashing rawprogram0 I had IMEI = 0. I will 100% always backup modem/efs moving forward!!
Thanks for all your help, I think I'll be doing a write-up on my flashing w/ this ROM, what an adventure. I know LG isn't making new phones, but I don't feel as wasteful because QFIL is for many phones.

flashed LG G2 to PP and call log does not work, any thoughts?

I saw several threads regarding this issue (no call log - no incoming/outgoing/missed) and all appear to point to issues in phone app bundled with stock G2 ROM and having nv only flag when flashing to pp (only using 3g on pay go plan - of course, I could upgrade my plan to $29 to get 4g, but I never use data on my phone also I do not really use phone for calls/texts whole lot either).
So, I DID hear that installing other ROMs resolve this. However, I am GUESSING that loading other stock rom variants will PROBABLY not help (of course, if you know of one that works, let me know), so I am considering ROMS other than the ones based on stock G2 ROM.
Does anyone know whether G3 based roms (cloudy G3), or AOSP roms fix this issue?
Now, I did try to load several replacement dialer/contact apps and that did NOT help so it must be something deeper.
I guess if nobody have experience, I guess I will try it out.
BTW, My rom is 4.4.2 stock build 24A. Do I need to flash KK baseband before going to Cloudy G3?
(4.4.2 is already a Kitkat, correct?)
I already have root and have TWRP installed (which means that I can install ROMs in alternate slots, correct? Sorry, I am coming from Droid RAZR which works that way)
Thanks.
Got the call log fixed by flashing G3 ROM.
The 3g phone flash was kept without any issues.
Now the call log works, but stock SMS still does not work, had to install textra and it works fine.
After installing G3 ROM, the MAC address changed to something funky, my wireless mac filtering was going crazy and I am assuming that due to duplicate mac address, my internet occasionally got cut off (like watching youtube vid, etc).
I fixed this issue by:
edit: /data/misc/wifi/config
file, replace
cur_etheraddr=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
where the xx'es represents your actual MAC address (what it originally was).
Now, I did it before and it kept putting back the phantom address right back. LOOKS like this file gets generated upon reboot from some script, but looks like the reading off the MAC address from wifi card is not working correctly or something.
KEY for me was, after updating the file, set the file permission to read only (r-xr-xr-x). I used the ES File Explorer to set the permission.
And then reboot the phone and wifi will come back with correct MAC address.

boot.img incorrect -> lost Wifi features, how to get correct boot.img back?

Hello,
I had the intention to install CM13 on my newly purchased Mi5 (that came with "MIUI 7.3.4.0 Global stable"), so after unlocking, I tried to install TWRP on it at first. Because of the technical problems this currently still involves, looking for a solution, I stupidly flashed an incorrect boot.img on my device (originating from this thread that was about another MI5 ROM version). Now the device still works again after a factory reset, but without any Wifi features (Wifi connection, thethering).
Does anyone know how to fix this? I couldn't find any resource linking to another boot.img (I guess I'd need one for 7.3.4 Global) so far and I'm not familiar with Xiaomi phones enough to help myself otherwise.
thanks, r.

Please can anyone senior developer help in getting back my IMEI and VOLTE?

Hi, as many of us have lost of IMEIs and VOLTE after downgrading from custom Oreo ROM, is there any developer who can assist us with this? I will perhaps recite all the happenings which occurred with me, first I flashed the Oreo based AOSP since some YouTuber stated it has no bugs whatsoever in it, it worked fine like no bugs or anything of that sort, thereafter I planned on flashing the stock ROM, back then I getting my signals since I already read to skip using commands 'fastboot erase modemst1' and 'fastboot erase modemst2', but then I wasn't getting VOLTE on the stock rom as well, I thought taking OTAs would fix it, but unfortunately it didn't, then I found a post which promised on getting back my VOLTE if I flash persist file, as they said I followed each and every step, but since flashing that thing I haven't been able to get my signal back, 0 IMEI and no damn response even after switching SIM cards, I even sideloaded the Oreo soak update seeking my IMEI and signals, but nope that didn't work either, I have tried all the custom roms like Pixel Experience, RR, Validus and AOSP but neither of them is helping, is there any kind and supportive developer who can perhaps look into the matter and help us? This is the only phone I have and I really love Moto, also before you kind seniors point fingers at me, I would already like to confess that I knew all the risks of flashing, upgrading and downgrading and I have been flashing custom roms since the original Moto G(2014), none of the issues have been so unkind and bad, like there's no solution out here for us and no assistance whatsoever from Motorola/Lenovo, hence if possible I would really appreciate if anyone could help us getting our device back, Thanking You all
Same issue
I have exactly the same issue...after flashing that g4 persist backup to get the volte working...there is no network at all....tried all the methods
Any one please help..
Thank you.

ROG Phone 2

Hello, I had tried posting this where I assume it belongs but I can't seem to post anywhere but here. Anyways, today me and a friend rooted his ROG Phone 2 via rooted ROM we had found here. Everything had gone to plan, unlocked the boot loader with Asus's tool, fastboot the custom ROM, ran Magisk and let it update, confirmed root with it and a cheapo Play Store root checker, all was good.
First issue, WiFi didn't work, but no big deal, unlimited data. Then he discovered that sound didn't work, so I immediately looked it up, didn't find a post specific to his phone but someone mentioned the mic not working in the one I read, gut feeling I told him to check the mic, loe and behold, not working.
He doesn't want to have to reset to factory ROM and lose the root. Ant idea what's wrong? I could find the post we followed if requested before I find and post it anyways.
As mentioned it's the new Asus ROG Phone 2
Model
ZS660KL
The 512GB/12GB RAM
As far as I'm reading is there shouldn't be any exact issues and is no particular reason. We read later on in the comments, someone had the WiFi issue but the OP assured his didn't have the issue.
WiFi isn't a major need, again, data. But the sound and mic is a huge issue as it's his daily. I'm familiar with rooting and custom ROMs, mainly Samsung's. I'm quite confused, I've never had a major issue with a ROM that doesn't have a simple work around.
What firmware version is he on? He has to make sure that the magisk-patched boot image matches the firmware he has installed or he will have issues like the ones you describe with WiFi, sound, and possibly abnormally long boot times.
This is a boot image issue
Had the same issue when rooted.. i flashed the ww rom again to unroot my device now everything works. Hopefully someone can give a solution
He's working on patching a fresh ROM from Asus, that's the only idea he can make right now.

Cant Turned on WIFI/BT, Already Flashed for BT still not working

Hi , its been a year since i bought xiaomi mi 9-global rom(128GB) and all work properly.
if im not mistaken the first rom when i bought is MIUI 10 , then the last time i update if im not mistaken is around september in MIUI 12.02 for the latest security patch.
Suddenly problem occurs recently maybe around a week. where my Wifi & Bluetooth disconnected by the system and cant be turned on but it fixed it self as i restart and now its never fixed.
I already some of fixed below :
- Restart devices
- Wipe all data
- Factory reset
- Try to flash the ROM from official one MIUI 12.02
- Following some tutorials that reset bluetooth and wifi settings
- Try downgrading MIUI version to 11
but still didnt work the Wifi & Bluetooth setting always crash & cant be turned on , try CIE or CIU test found out that the proximity sensor also didn't work.
I also tried some tutorials that do in EDL mode to install persist mode but its not working due to the Authentication it says" i dont have the permission"
Is there anyway i can fixed the Bluetooth & Wifi in this device?? The Mobile Data is still working and other features still working except Proximity Sensor, WIFI, Bluetooth.
Is the only way is to let the xiaomi store fixed it?? this is my only phone so i need it alot and the office store probably going to take long since pandemic.
Please help me Xiaomi Pro's out there :crying:
Edit :
- my xiaomi account already match with the phone the proof is i can unlocked OEM using the xiaomi. But it seems i still dont have permissions to flash EDL.

I think it's safe as miui could be.
But be shure to follow step by step and take right rom version. If it's working you can flash original miui or custom roms.

I think, if you have done a really clean flash with formating data, that it's a hardware problem.

yes, i did i already follow the instructions & having no error at all for the ROM and other stuff except the WiFi & Bluetooth.
But for me its just really weird, my phone looks still great from outside no bend, dent, or crack it never fall as well.
The problem starts occurring by itself like the system is forcing the Bluetooth & WiFi to off then at some point the WiFi is connected but not transferring any data after restart everything fixed then its not working at all, which when i tried to turn it on it will freeze or the system not responding or off by itself.
btw appreciate your answer, i'm still waiting for other solution if possible :crying:

Are you shure that you've got a global version. I had nearly the same probs as I've flashed the global on my eu hardware.

In my personal opinion there're 2 possibilities
Damaged hardware
Or
Modem Partition wrong or damaged
MODEM or RADIO - the phone's radio
Also called baseband, it is responsible for signals and on older devices may control wifi, bluetooth, and GPS (on most newer devices, these are handled by the kernel and ROM). Upgrades are country dependent and may improve or diminish battery performance, network signal strength, and roaming capability. It is also sometimes required to have a minimum Baseband version to use a ROM so that the RIL will play nice with the Baseband.
Modem firmware is a mini-OS for the cellular radio chip which has its own processor. Firmware is a general term, firmware exists for a lot of things on phone. The wireless chip for WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth often has a firmware as can the GPU core among other things. These firmware files are usually located inside the SYSTEM or VENDOR partition. The modem firmware is special because it has its own separate Baseband Processor (BP) so the firmware is left out of the system image in its own partition.
Modem is not an Android-specific partition. It is tied to the hardware of the phone, but the kernel has a code allowing Android to interact with the hardware. But the baseband processor (BP) - which runs modem and is responsible for all communication through mobile networks e.g. call, SMS and internet - is totally isolated from Application Processor (the one we call CPU) and is not governed by Android kernel; it runs an independent RTOS.
May it helps you for getting a solution....
