Need help for downgrading - Redmi Note 9 Questions & Answers

I am on MIUI 12.5.1.0.RJOINXM. My bootloader is locked. I don't have prior experience in flashing roms. Please help me to downgrade to MIUI 12.0.8. Thank you

No way. You must unlock bootloader then flash the older version with official Mi flash tool.

You can downgrade to any version using spflashtool easily, securely and safely.

Oh, okay.
If you flash in DOWNLOAD MODE, bootloader will keeps SAME, locked or unlocked.
If you flash in FIRMWARE UPGRADE MODE, bootloader will be LOCKED again.
If you flash in FORMAT ALL MODE, bootloader will be LOCKED again and you will lose all identications of the device like IMEI, BLUETOOTH MAC, WIFI MAC.
You can downgrade MIUI safely and securely using download mode.

Thank you, but what is DOWNLOAD MODE?

Dear VD171, i've just downgraded using MiFlashToolV2. The process was simple and the bootloader is still unlocked, so far so good.
But now it refuses to boot to system. It keeps restarting and shows the initial "Redmi", with the unlocked icon in the top.
I tried to Wipe data in xiamoi recovery, but the result is the same.
Please advice

Unlocking bootloader: definitive bye-bye to automatic updates?

With the Moto Z, after I returned the phone to stock (flashed stock firmware and locked the bootloader), I'd be able to flash stock firmware with the flashing locked.
Not so with the Motorola One Zoom. In other words, flashing stock and re-locking didn't return the phone to its pristine state. Even when flashing stock firmware over stock firmware, I have to unlock the bootloader.
Differences I observed: on the bootloader screen, when re-locked the Z would show "oem_locked" again. On the One Zoom, it shows "flashing_locked" instead. I'm pretty sure it showed "oem_locked" before unlocking.
WIth the Z, every time I wanted to unlock the bootloader, I had to issue "fastboot oem unlock" followed by the unlock code. The code isn't necessary with the re-locked One Zoom.
In other words, maybe it was a one-way trip. It seems that the phone won't return to its original state, it looks it's modified for good. And I'm afraid this means bye-bye to automatic updates.
Am I missing something here?

Phew! I'm glad I'll be able to install OTAs. Have you tried flashing it manually or via RSD Lite? Here it won't flash.

yes.
What instruction did you use to unlock the bootloader?
What region is your device manufactured for?
Does your PC see your device connected to the fastboot mod?
What does this command give you:
Code:
fastboot devices
If the device is detected, enter the command:
Code:
fastboot getvar all
And copy the result here.

I have the Moto One Zoom running on Android 9.
Also, It's Rooted with Magisk and have Riru EdXposed installed, can I install my OTA updates without bootloop or do I have to Uninstall Magisk, relock bootloader and factory reset/flash stock firmware to get latest OTA updates?
Any feedback is appreciated.

I think the most important acronym in the firmware. EU. Flashing the RKBEUXM should therefore not be a problem. Even without the bootloader unlock. OR only means that provider-specific functions are built in. If you don't know them or are unimportant, the XM works just as well.

If you had to unlock the bootloader to flash the XM, I wouldn't relock again. That would surely lead to a brick.

Hello! Can you tell me what method you used to do it? I have a Mi 11 lite 5G, the ROM that came from the factory was a Vodafone EU and I changed it for a Global EU ROM, specifically this one: renoir_eea_global_images_V12.0.8.0.RKIEUXM, but in the process with My Flash Tool the bootloader had to be open, now I have this ROM working perfectly, but I want to close the bootloader to use Google Pay etc. So I am very interested in your method to achieve it.

Don't relock your bootloader with EU rom. Your chinese phone will be bricked.

Is there a way to unlock bootloader from SP Flash Tool?

My phone was hardbricked and thinking I had a global device I flashed a global ROM to it, but now it can't boot saying "This Miui version can't be installed on this device". I read that this error comes up from having a locked bootloader.. So is there a way to unlock it from Sp Flash or something similar (would prefer if it weren't fastboot).

While it could come from a locked bootloader, you would know if your bootloader had relocked from the tool and account you originally used to unlock it.
This Miui version can't be installed on this device

could be caused through by several things including, perhaps, non-allowed downgrade of MIUI

Question Relock bootloader

Hello. I wanted to root my redmi note 10s, and I unlocked the bootloader. But after reflexion, i want to cancel it, cause root will not be useful as I thought. Is it possible to relock the bootloader? And if yes, will the process erase all data ? And will everything be back like before? For example, will I be allowed to use Google One, witch doesn't work on bootloader unlocked devices ? Thanks by advance

yes, relocking the bootloader will erase all your data, to do so just use miflash and select the option clean flash and lock

Can I install custom ROMs or recoveries using SP Flash Tool, but without unlocking my phone's bootloader?

Yeah the title says it all. Just wondering if that's possible or not since I'm not sure if I'd have to wait for a week for my phone to be unlocked, while I could get the job done in no time.
If unlocking the bootloader is required, then would force unlocking it using mtkclient work (triggers bootloop, haven't tried to relock it and see if it fixes it)? Or will it only work through official bootloader unlocking?
No, you need to unlock the bootloader in order to flash a recovery over the stock one

You need to unlock first, since locked bootloader will block any flash over system partitions
