Did ANY carrier ever OFFICIALLY support WiFi Calling on Z3?... - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

...other than T-Mobile in the U.S.?
Though both the hardware and the last Sony stock build of Android Marshmallow support WFC (and by "support" on the Android side, I merely mean it's possible to at least get the "WiFi Calling" menu items to show up in Settings), I am looking for evidence that any carrier anywhere in the world *other* than T-Mobile U.S. ever actually supported this.
I don't count T-M because they had their own unique model (D6616) with special band support for their network and a special build of firmware that included support for T-M WiFi Calling. The D6616 firmware was also never updated past Lollipop 5.0.2, and "native" VoWiFi did not come to Android until 5.1.1.
But I have yet to find a single report of anybody using WFC on international Z2/Z3/Z3c models. Seems strange that the device itself would have support for it but none of the carriers that sold the device would. (Perhaps it was just so early to the WiFi Calling party that no carriers ever bothered?)
I can get VoLTE working on the Z3(c) just fine, but have not had success with WiFi Calling yet. It makes me wonder if possibly despite getting both Lollipop 5.1.1 and Marshmallow, the Z2/Z3 series had some critical piece of the WFC implementation omitted either from the modem baseband firmware, or from the Android side of things (the UI exists to toggle it on/off but it's not actually functional under-the-hood / doesn't properly send the right commands to the modem to enable).

N920I enabling VOLTE. [Rooted]

Hi,
I have a Singapore N920I. Im using the phone in INDIA and am not enable to Enable VOLTE. its says 'unsupported by current software version'. Ive tried enabling the 'turn off volte provisioned flag' but doesn't work when tapping on it. My device is rooted. Is there any way to enable VOLTE on my phone.
Android version : 6.0.1
BaseBand: N920IDVU2BPE2
Model : SM-N920I
Thanks
As far as I know, and don't quote me on this. You cannot. The volte service is different from carrier to carrier. For example, I had a Verizon s6 when I switched to T-Mobile. Both networks support volte/advanced calling, however when I tried to activate volte on T-Mobile, it didn't work. The software is looking for the wrong signal. You're best bet is to sell the one you have an buy one compatible with your carrier. Also you could check over on the general note 5 development threads. There is far more support over there for devices that aren't the 920t. Hope this helps.
Your CSC doesn't support the other network. So its like trying to log into a website with a different website account.

Volte on Moto X?

How can we get volte feature on our X devices?
Volte is basically work with hardware and software support , currently we have only hardware support i hope so and no software support, here developers team working on 7.1 ROM hope we get volte support in that rom. Hope for the best. Soon we can taste of 7.1 rom.
Looking ahead for the 7.1, hoping the same.
VoLTE is not very well received standard, that will probably not last long anyways. It's also a cheap-o-way for network operators to offload traffic off the 2G/3G nets for voice.
In other words, VoLTE is not a priority to anyone, but only those who actually use it. Don't expect support in any ROM for that.
Oh and by the way, Moto X ghost supports VoLTE since KK, but only the standard defined in the 4G networks definition and not the cheap, abomination that is deployed in countries like India. The real deal supports 3G -> VoLTE and reverse, while those badly deployed networks support only VoLTE<->VoLTE calls only.

AT&T HD voice on this device

i was going through my old lg g3 and saw the volte packages cant anyone port the packages to the oneplus 3t
VoLTE is enabled by default on the OP3/T. It's up to the carrier to provision VoLTE onto your device for it to actually work though. The problem with some major carriers is that they screen the IMEI of the phone you're using and won't allow you to use certain features such as VoLTE unless you buy a branded phone from them. If you call customer support, they're going to come with with some BS excuse like "your phone is incompatible with our networks or VoLTE." Large networks are prone to pulling shady stuff like this to get users to buy more stuff from them. Not all networks will do this though, as it seems India's Jio networks allow all phones to use their advanced features.
All in all, porting software from another phone will not enable VoLTE on your phone. You might be enable to enable it by spoofing your phone's IMEI, though I'm pretty sure that's illegal or against some ToS.

Verizon phone on page plus no advaned lte setting

I have two note 8 Verizon phones on page plus in my home. One has nougat 7.1.1 and other is oreo 8.0, the one with nougat works flawless. The note 8 with oreo has no advanced lte features or options in menu to turn them on. The oreo phone has N950USQS5CRI4 firmware. I realize I cant flash backwards to nougat. Both phones have same APN settings. Is there a way to get advance lte features on with the oreo phone by flashing a different firmware. I see there was an updated firmware (N950USQS5CRJ3) released after the one I have will this have advanced lte features enabled or will flashing to oreo 8.1 fix this issue. I'm willing to take any advice or help.
THANKS
Take the device to your carrier, my device had no lte settings out of the box, I received a message from the carrier asking me to take my device to them in order to issue me a new sim card and to activate all the functions related to LTE, they did not do anything to the device, checked imei, legal ownership status, updated the info in their system and gave me a new sim, that was it, all the LTE related stuff appeared after a reboot
Page Plus said everything on there end is correct. From my research I seen where with 8.0 the advanced LTE features only available supposedly for major carriers plans like Verizon, ATT, Sprint, etc.......not non contract companies. I was curious if anyone knew a fix around it

VoLTE and WIFI calling in US

Hi everyone,
Have a global version of X5 Pro.
Trying to make VoLTE and VoWIFI working on T-Mobile in US but no luck.
No toggles in SIM settings and toggles in Phone Info are grayed out.
Any ideas to activate it?
Same with me, I started another thread or two concerning this issue but I believe it has to do with T-Mobile's VoLTE/Wifi-calling provisioning relative to the Find X5 Pro's firmware?
Of course the phone supports VoLTE and WiFi-Calling, so I'm not sure why at least the latter won't work (or at least have a toggle). If you google 'how to enable WiFi calling', most people tell you to set (or re-set) your E911 address because it's a necessary feature of WiFi calling. Ive done this on the T-Mobile website AND with a support rep on the phone, but still no toggle to enable.
I haven't found anything about this outside of XDA so perhaps it's time to submit a ticket directly to Oppo.
Edit: could anyone from the EU/UK chime in on whether they have the toggle options for VoLTE/WiFi-calling? I think we need to identify whether the problem is based on region/carrier rather than the phone.
Pulled from a recent T-Mobile forum post about the same issue (but on multiple different phones):
"In order to enable WiFi calling from an unlocked phone, there appear to be several components which all need to align perfectly. The the phone must have the physical capability, obviously a WiFi antenna. It also seems to rely on VoLTE provisioned and WiFi calling provisioned abilities.
The former carrier must have unlocked the device and its IMEI for use on another carrier.
The current carrier must have enabled WiFi calling, and also configured an E911 address.
"Exactly! The firmware in the Sprint S8 is not compatible with T-Mobile’s WiFi Calling implementation. XDA might offer some work around through flashing or root, but through normal methods, WiFi Calling on such an old device that actually has carrier specific firmware isn’t going to work with a different carrier for those feature implementations. Vodafone Germany: Custom Firmware with VF branding, but no SIM- or Netlock
VoLTE has no toggle but is activated by default, VoWiFi has a toggle and works.
