Hello Everyone! I am Mathews Joby, A complete beginner to android studio. I can make simple apps that does not require any connectivity or databases but recently tried making an app that helps you connect and send data ex terminal , control car with arrows, etc but the connection is not working for me very well.

Hey all,
So basically what I want to do is have shortcuts on my phone that launch a specific app on my windows pc.
Since without some background info this might sound malicious, here's the case in point:
I want a shortcut to launch XBMC on my htpc. XBMC already have an awesome remote app for android which includes WOL, so I can already turn on my pc with my phone and use my phone as remote once XBMC is launched, however, I don't have a way of launching it through my phone.
I'd want a more elegant/direct solution than having to use vnc. I cannot set XBMC to autolaunch at startup on my pc because it's a shared pc in my home and not everyone uses it as an htpc, it's also a gaming box.
Any ideas? I'd imagine using an android phone to run a script on a PC or launch an app wouldn't be too complicated, but I'm no developer so I pose my question to all the gurus out there!
Thanks a lot!
SSL shell script would be your best bet.
Thanks for the suggestion!
I actually kept on looking and found some like minded peeps on the xbmc's forum, and user grajen3 made a launcher for it specifically.
Here's the link to the thread in case anyone else here ever wants to launch xbmc from the phone: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=78167&highlight=android
hey i am using data with af wall plus with root & xposed
but still below apps are using data & cant restrict them ?
android OS
GOOGLE SERVICES
can any one suggest me xposed another mod to restrict these apps from using data ???
Please see screenshot & help me guyz !!
I'm assuming you mean afwall+, and you've configured those apps not to be allowed to agrees the internet yet somehow they do?
I use afwall myself since the days of my old note 2 and never had issues, but look into the following solutions, maybe they'll help :
A vpn style firewall, there's one listed in the xda labs app
Enable afwall xposed add-on, reboot, go to its settings and tick the fix download manager leak option
In afwall settings, your can enable the vpn control, then restrict those apps to vpn access only, maybe it'll help.
Can't think of any other options atm, i hope this helps you.

XPrivacy. You can restrict network permissions on both those apps and any other apps you want. Infact you can restrict pretty much any permission you want with Xprivacy.

Lightning wall
Check out this xposed firewall called LIGHTNING FIREWALL
valid alternative? not real alternative?
Did someone tried: PMP = protect my privacy ?
available from the playverse and selected stores near you.
Afwall+ with it's granularity is a powerful tool.
Xprivacy is a strong and brillant project with a community.
So back -for sure for me- to the opening question: PMP is good for the phone (and the "my" that's in the phone)? Is flexible enough to fully control all the little happy apps running around in the phone...?

If you restrict network access then it cannot connect to the internet in any way. Ever. Unless you give it back network access.

For the data leakages the answer in post #2 by @ticktock666 is the way to go.
But for that to work in a proper mode: check that afwall+ has all the rights from the start (the veryvery start)...
Also afwall+ gives the users a pretty fine granularity when it comes to the rules.
..or did you noticed (captured? logged?) data leaks in other moments of your device work-day?
(es.: on wifi? on data? during the switch from one to the other? a single app? a sequence of apps? our beloved playframe-g-whatever?)

These two are in my next "round robin test".
Good testing and Keep us informed.

NetGuard?
How do you detect leaks? Do you disconnect Wi-Fi/mobile data on reboot?

I don't see any screenshot.... What I use is Xprivacy Pro because it can restrict any Android permissions, and it lets you know what permissions were used, and when. It can be used to show application usage data, and parameters used by data. However pro version of Xprivacy is required for those features. I would really recommend it, but I know it's a lot to take in at first. If you don't know much about Androids, and how they work, then it's probably not for you. There are detailed instructions on how to use it properly.
You can find the the developer's detailed help page here - https://github.com/M66B/XPrivacy#xprivacy
The XDA community forum on Xprivacy is here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xprivacy-ultimate-android-privacy-app-t2320783
I hope that this helps you out. Good luck, and I hope you figure it out.
Best of luck to you....
Hey im new here.
I recently got a car with android auto and i would like to develope some apps i can use while driving. But in the android sdk it is only possible to build musicplayers or messaging services.
Is there a way to make use blank layouts you can design by yourself as if it was a android App.
Sorry for my bad english. Please answer if you havent understand my plan.
Hi,
I have searched on the internet but I can't find any good info about android auto.
First I don't understand how it works. I have seen that you need android auto on your phone in order to communicate with your car device but what is running on the car device? Is a different type of operating system?
Can I add an application developed for Android on Android Auto?

AA consists of 2 parts -
AA application running on the phone
AA client on say a car headunit (could also be another android phone or an android tablet) that mirrors the AA phone display
AA can be run self hosted on a phone, then you don't need the second part.
If you want to have a fixed display (client/server setup) in the car & you don't already have a car headunit supporting AA, you can install an app such as HUR- https://forum.xda-developers.com/ge...ndroid-4-1-headunit-reloaded-android-t3432348 on the headunit/tablet. There's a trial version that you can download to try.
Hi kk131
Thank you for your replay.
So if is running on my phone this means that all my phone application will be available on my car console?

As the purpose of AA is to enable phone use during driving, it provides limited access with a simplified display :
Google assistant - so you can have voice interaction
Phone
Navigation - waze/google maps
Music apps - google play music, spotify (depends what you have installed on your phone)
Great info.
I am asking this because I have an application of podcast on google play and I would like to be available on AA and I am trying to find out how can I do that.
Do you know any relevant info on the web that can clarify me? I am guessing that there are some constraints if we speak of automotive
Install AA on your phone., run it, see if the app is shown in the menu. If it isn't you can go into AA developer mode and enable 'unknown sources' and test again. The thread I referenced above covers getting in AA developer mode.
If that test is successful, then go further and install the client on your car console.
Great, I will try it and come back with some answers.
Thank you for your time
Hello again,
I manage to complete all my tests and all was ok. I have installed a few applications and one custom application and all worked ok.
I have one more question for you if you can help me of course.
Do you know a tutorial or something from where I can start with Android auto? I have seen that there are not tow application (one for Android and one for Android auto ) is the same app but for Auto version are fewer scenes.
If you can give me a hint here it will be just great.
Thank you.

It would be helpful to know what hardware you have in your car.
I'm not an expert, I use a Nexus 7 tablet for the car display with headunit reload (HUR).
Hi guys!
I m new here and i ve been searching for it mostly here and in web researches, but cannot find a clear answer.
Does anyone know a ROM suitable for a tablet (i have a xiaomi clover that i could use for it) that i could mount on my motorbike for gpx navigation, maybe weather and music also ( getting real time machine data via the ECU, as speed, revs, temperature etc would be awesome too! )
It ll be great if a tablet could actually (replace, or) complete the dashboard informations,
Does anyone has a clue about which way i should dig around ?
thanks you all
I have a nexus 5x always in car, for android auto. I have rooted the phone and Uninstall most of android. Including phone app, sms, etc. I have only keep the core of android and gaps so to run android auto and evey app i wanted. This is the way..
I guess you are not looking for a ROM but for some apps to be installed in your tablet or phone.
You can test some Car Launchers you can find in the Store.
To get real-time parameters you will need an ODB connected to your bike and for the software, with any ODB you buy there will be a basic app to obtain real-time data. Specifically for motorbikes you have MOTOSCAN.
