Hi, i know there's already a similar thread, but as there's no MIUI 8 global for oneplus 3t, i ask it there another time.
Can someone, somehow port the global rom for this device, there's only a chines one made by Wu, and i'm not the only one looking for multiple language.
I'v tried to translate the one made by Wu using jBART, but it bootloop and doesn't work.
The best would be a Rom including Dash Charging, and OOS's camera, and the side slider.
Thx you a lot for your support..

Just need kernel source release for Nougat and then a suitable kernel to match OOS 4.0.1 on the OP3 T.
I think Xiaomi is your best bet if you want MIUI 8.

well i'm just a bit bored of CM and OOS user interface, so Miui seems to me a good choise to change a bit.
There's no real benefits, it's just a clean rom that i do wanted to try
MIUI is awful. Nobody should use it, ever. It is barely working, it is buggy and it has many privacy issues.

I assume you meant Mi 9T Pro. Get a Mi 9T Pro fastboot ROM, either global or European, and flash it with the Mi Flash Tool.
Plenty of places in these forums with links to the ROMs and plenty of guides for flashing. They're not hard to find.

Depends on what's important. Main differences.
Indian ROM loses all NFC functionality, but has POCO launcher as standard, which has an app drawer.
European and global are the same, best guess is that the only difference between the 2 is GPS optimisation and ad delivery. These 2 options both lose the MIUI dialer, so they no longer have call recording.

To be quick GPS needs to know roughly where it is first. It's why phones also use WiFi/mobile data too for location services, this gives a quick rough location, with actual GPS giving the accuracy. If you choose the option to only use GPS you still get the accuracy, but it takes a lot longer to get there.
When companies sell phones regionally, they will pre configure the GPS based on the region, so that the GPS already knows it's in that specific region to start with.
If you need NFC, then choose either European or global, based on where you are in the world.
If you need call recording, but not NFC, choose the Indian.
If you don't care about either, choose the ROM based on where you are.

I see Sri Lanka has NFC based tap and go card systems on public transport. Has this been upgraded to include mobiles with NFC and a dedicated app? Or is there plans to do this? Would this be something you would use?
If you think you'll never need to use the NFC, go with the Indian ROM.
You could always change later if you needed NFC in the future.
If you need NFC now go with the global ROM.
I am considering selling European version and buying Chinese one. Can the Chinese version do call recording ?
Is it allowed on their androids or android 10 doesn't allow it to any part of the world ?
I don't know, I used to have a Mate 20 Pro (mexican version with carrier firmware), and with the apk for call recording was enough... maybe if there's a way to retrieve the apk from the chinese version (if there's any), it might be possible...

He's talking about Mexican career. I have ELS-N39 not the UK one. I'd like to try but - can you enlighten us a bit why it won't work to spare me of trying ??
Because it's only Chinese variant that it is enabled. In the past when you could unlock the bootloader and change regions, you could change between Chinese and any other area and back and it only works on the Chinese version. It must be restricted in the ROM. I've had Chinese versions with it working, extracted the file and tried on a non Chinese version and it fails installation every time.
I use ACR on non Chinese versions, works ok but callers voice needs turning up.
Try if you want. I'm sure that everyone would appreciate a working version of Huawei call recorder on their phones, it just works perfectly but please feel free to try and feedback to us your findings as this question comes up with every model.
If you do a search, I extracted Android 9 and 10 version to the forum in the past and I can get my Mate 30 pro fired up and extract it again if you want.
In fact here it is attached, Android 10 version from my Chinese Mate 30 Pro. Let us all know how you get on.

Thank you. What you have described earlier, I have done in the past with HTC: change region, easily using XTC tool which would allow me to have NFC, Radio and few features which were disabled on EU version.
Your story is totally believable and true; I was just hoping it might work. I'll try anyway, you know the old say "fulls don't believe anyone"
PS - I do have ACR full pro licensed version, I need call recorder to work perfectly, it's part of my job, so even if I have to buy chinese phone, be it huawei or samsung or whatever...
Btw did you know that call recording is allowed in Italy without any announcement. I am really unhappy that this phone isn't really developed properly for various EU regions.
You could always swap to a mi 10 ultra which has call recorder and a pretty near or as good camera. These have call recorder as standard but like me and many others, flash the EU ROM and get the best software options plus. And you keep the call recorder.
I have both but as Huawei are locking down so much, it tempted me away to a near equivalent but fully and actually encouraged to by Xiaomi to use custom ROMs. Check out the XDA Xiaomi mi 10 Ultra forum

I may consider the mi 10 ultra, I'm in the uk so will it work on our network? Where did you buy it from?
Sent from my ELS-NX9 using Tapatalk
XDA has an active forum at https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-10-ultra.
For the UK use Wondamobile as they ship to Manchester and then ship to you, so they pay any import duty, delivery in about a week from Hong Kong at a good price, other suppliers out there too.
One of the main issues in the hardware is that it has no band 20 radio. In the UK some operators change their use of band 20 from 3 to 4G, O2 being the main one that may affect you. 5G works a treat as does 4G on all other providers but with O2 and any providers that use O2 network, you won't get 4G from band 20 masts. To be honest, now that most people use 4G, the 3G throughput that it drops down to on these masts is dam good and I don't miss 4G at all. Still get Sky Q out and about via 3G. My second sim is EE and that is fine on 4G, so something to think about before buying.
The stock Chinese ROM has Google but one thing missing on this is location tracing and history. Gpay works fine on the stock ROM.
As Xiaomi encourage custom ROMs, you can unlock the bootloader. As a precaution, once you fully verify your account in mi cloud, and you start to unlock, it makes you wait 168 hours, one week, before allowing you to finish the process. Once unlocked, you can flash the Xiaomi.EU custom ROM if you want, details on the XDA forum or the Xiaomi.EU forum. Paranoid Android may be providing one too at some point. The EU version has done an excellent job on this but it does still have some work to do on CTS profile security but it does have Widevine L1 ( the stock has all security). Gpay too has a temp bug hopefully being fixed soon to but it's ok on Chinese stock and as the custom weekly or stable branches of ROM are based on the Chinese updates.
Have a read before committing. I moved over after being Huawei for a few years but with them locking the bootloader and the Google debako by USA has made me swap brands and to be honest, I am quite happy to do so, Xiaomi are making some dam good customisable phones.

True that, If Huawei allow unlocking the bootloader, then their phones will rock and can be sold with people worrying about Google ban, as there will be many developers out there ready to build many custom rom with Google (GMS) Integrated
One reason for choosing a ROM is obviously the region one lives in. But there are other possible reasons for going with a ROM from other regions or sources. I have tried almost all available ROMs (which I know of...) on my Mi 11 ultra which is originally CN version. I wanted to know which ROM is the most popular among the masses here...!
I use global, I have a global device and my provider (Vodafone UK) works best with this ROM, also I feel it is quite optimised

I agree. Global works fine for me also. The only thing that is bothering me on Global ROM (besides the regular dark mode bugs) is the fact that the Android security patch is still from the month of May as of now.
I prefer the EU ROM as it is updated as the Chinese is but it still keeps the mi dialler and SMS app. I couldn't get on with the Google versions. Also no call recorder on global. Well there are loads of differences, the EU has the best of all versions. Some people find it slower than stock but as I don't game with my phone, it's good for me. I had the 10 ultra too and used Chinese and then EU on that too.

I gave it a try. The issue for me in EU was the buggy animations. Compared to the official global (and CN), the opening and closing animations of apps on EU were inconsistent and jittery.
Have you tried global/CN on your Mi 11 ultra? If yes, how are the animations on EU as compared to the global/CN for you?
For the call recording on global, if you set the region of the phone to the US or some other regions (where call recording is legal I guess), the default google dialer has the call recording function. It is just info, I am not trying to compare google dialer to mi dialer.
The thing I don't understand is why people want so much this call recording function, why you need to record your calls? Lol

EU rom is a laggy disaster. I don't know why thought. Animation is laggy for suuure. Development don't want to even listen about it. I guess they using some old crap inside somewhere. (Old optimization that shouldn't be there)

I am almost curious to try the china rom on my global device, I think once put the language in English and debloated properly should be the best ROM. I don't know how people can be happy to use Xiaomi EU as it is laggy as ****, it is unacceptable to buy a device worth more than 1 grand and having performance of a poco phone lol, if you speak to the developers they do not address the problem, it doesn't even seem you are using a custom ROM lol, custom ROM used to be developed for performance and battery life and this is not the case

I have tried it as it was the original ROM with which my phone shipped. It was the best (in terms of updates and smoothness). Problem with it was I did not find any option to restore from google drive when initially setting up the device (understandable as the ROM does not contain Gapps by default) and also there was no option to restore from google drive after installing google play from getapps. Is there a way to restore from previous backup from google drive on CN?

I have used both. CN felt smoother than global and the last I checked, 12.5.10 CN included the June Android security patch. CN has mi dialer and mi messages which are nice apps. It also has a global searchbar on homescreen (akin to the Sesame app but nicer as it is natively supported). But there, you cannot set google or any other search engine which would provide results in English. All you have there are three search engines that are in Chinese. You cannot set the "ok google" command, cannot restore from google drive, and cannot have google feed on the left swipe in the default launcher. Also, the Chinese language is not eliminated entirely like the global, even if you set the phone language to English or the phone region to any other region using the more locale 2 app. For example, the theme store will always display results in Chinese, no matter what. Occasionally, you may get prompts in Chinese where it is not clear what the phone says obviously if you don't know Chinese. The dark mode bugs which are present on global are also present on CN.

In my experience, global is more usable for me. It has all goodies I prefer to have such as smooth performance and google services especially the backup and restore functionality. But it is not perfect. It has many bugs like other available ROMs (especially and ironically, the dark mode is buggy across all different ROMs) and the updates are slower too. I can forget about the addition of new features but lack of up-to-date security patches is not forgiveable for a flagship device.

After knowing that the latest weekly beta of Xiaomi.eu ROM included the August security patch and after the majority of folks here favoured this ROM, I decided to give Xiaomi.eu ROM another try. I installed the beta and ironically, there are no major bugs and even the animations are smoother than the stable Xiaomi.eu ROM I used before (12.5.2). So far liking it. The beta has some major feature updates besides the August security's patch such as the fully functional camera preview on the rear display (now the rear display can be used for portraits and videos etc.) I think it will not be justified if I use their ROM and do not give them their due credit here. So posting here to the older poll I started.
