The latest two betas of Xiaomi.eu based on Chinese MIUI enhanced version has remarkable stability, much better battery life- for first time since I got this phone, once only charge to 90% keeps the phone rocking for the whole day even with extensive and heavy use. These betas are almost totally bug-free for Mi 11 ultra.
Many threads here in this forum are filled with scary stories... including a few of my own like those of others. Wanted to give a clearer idea to potential new buyers of this phone.
How are these compared to the latest stable? Because I'm having some issues on it I didn't have on global stable
I'm currently on Xiaomi.eu 21.8.26 but I haven't noticed the performance and battery life improvements so far - is there a way to check if the new features of MIUI Enhanced are definitely enabled under any of the settings?

Compared to the global 12.5.4 and Chinese MIUI 12.5.10, there is noticeable improvement on these Xiaomi.eu betas. I have not tried stable Xiaomi.eu. So I would not know.

I am on the same beta and have noticed the improved MIUI very clearly. Despite my maximum and heavy use, I cannot drain the juice of the phone to under 10% in a day. For similar use, I had to charge the phone twice previously when I was using the official global and chinese MIUI.
And also the UI is butter smooth as well. There are no jitters at all.
There is no way to know from inside the firmware that whether you are running the enhanced MIUI. I noticed the improvements on 21.8.18 first and then searched the Xiaomi.eu forums. There, the devs confirmed to a question by a user that this beta (21.8.18) is based on enhanced version of MIUI.

I've installed the latest weekly from Xiaomi EU yesterday and I must say that is working extremely well,it still lacks on performance slightly on cold app start despite official global (I would be curious to try the official chinese weekly it must be a sky rocket). I confirm so far that many bugs have been resolved like stuttering when the rear display is on, whatsapp backup restore doesn't crash anymore, cpu temp looks cooler now and 120hz are really smooth. Great job. I'm really looking forward to see if enhanced version coming official on global devices will be as great
Glad to know it worked for you like it is doing for me. I launch apps via their shortcuts created with a free app from google play (I just cant stand the app icon labels. Creating shortcuts achieve label-less icons). The apps start instantly this way. So I may have overlooked the app start up time when launched from actual app icon.
The Today's beta include the September security patch. That is a hot hot cake for me .
I will greatly appreciate if the official stable MIUI with the enhanced features drop quickly. Nevertheless, we have at least some pathway for the time being to be able to use the phone with all its full potential without major bugs. This is the way for Xiaomi to walk on. Fix the vital software!!
May I ask what's the name of the app for launching the apps? It sounds weird to me but it is worth a try. Also I would add that fingerprint scanner is kuch faster now as well. Great

There are many. I like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rk.android.app.shortcutmaker
I found a little bug
With YouTube vanced when I have PiP video on the display, I experience contant stutter on browser navigation.
@hellodrsoul may I ask you please to do a test for me regarding the app cold start time?
If you can please test both with your shortcut or with app drawer and check if you see any difference

I'm beta testing Chinese miui10 and honestly it is better, and I really hated that background process killing.
Ram management is better in my opinion, no broken notifications for me, , even better handled than stock but that personal opinion, and I even gave them the benefit of the doubt and enabled miui optimization.
So far so good. Miui9 beta was a real pain compared.

If it's as good as you said there is no reasons to don't use miui. Maybe just security concern as miui is Chinese and I don't think is truly safe mobile banking or keeping sensitive details on device with Chinese software.
So one of the things that sold the idea of getting this phone was the existence of an active community and plenty of custom ROMs. So much that I don't have time to try them all.
So can you guys share your own experience, which is your favorite ROM and why?
I can share mine in the following:
From the past couple weeks I've been bouncing between a few and honestly they all were pretty smooth and everything that I needed worked, so basically I will only consider the things I like in them, such as looks and feels.
HavocOS(official)
Pros: the one with the most customizations, there is even this built in theme called Glassy/Transparent that I love, btw is there a similar theme in any other ROM?
Cons: battery life is reasonable but not as good as stock ROM. Sometimes my Bluetooth head set would connect but the audio would only come out from the phone speaker.
PixelExperience(official)
Pros: really deliver the Google pixel experience, smooth, stable, if you like Google you will like this.
Cons: doesn't offer too much in the customizations department but that's just imo, as one could argue that customizations are not the point here, anyway, battery can last a full day but still not as good as stock. Also I'm not sure if this is an confirmed bug or it was just on my end but my phone couldn't fast charge, for some reason it was only slow charging pretty weird.
Superior OS
Truth be told, I saw somewhere saying this ROM was really good, so I've installed but the looks and feels didn't catch my eye, so I didn't used for long, everything seems to work but I can't say how much the battery performs.
AEX 6.7(unofficial)
This is one in using now, is made by the same dev that made SuperiorOS, doesn't have as much customizations as Havoc but it has enough options to make the phone look like the way it pleases me, although I do miss the Transparent theme. As the others so far it's been smooth and stable, it does have things that I like very much such as a Pixel or Oreo recents style, a progress bar in the music notification, my Bluetooth head set worked flawlessly and so far the battery seems to be as good as stock ROM but I will need a couple more days to confirm that.
So please share your thoughts about the ROMs you already tried, have you had any problem with any of them? Is there any ROM that is a must try?
Great post thank you for for bringing it up. I only tried pixel experience and EU Rom. I liked how smooth PE was overall great rom but i have faced some bugs so i decided to try EU Rom. So far i'm happy with MIUI because it's easy to control and i use the appvault often to take quick notes.
ATOM OS
ATOM OS 10.
Open app fast, easy to flash, pin saver, and is android 10.
Sorry my English.
Syberia OS. Enough customization, a little less than Havoc.
Great Battery Life, installed Evira 4.5, Kernel settings: alucardsched and 100mhz for both core clusters. GPU Adreno Idler enabled .
Enjoy a great experience. Only bug for now is LTE Tile in Quicksettings doesnt seem to work for me, but it is no biggy though.
AOSiP pizza
Cuz its the only ROM which has "launch music player when headset or Bluetooth is connected" option even havoc and RR don't have this and it's super useful to me.
The latest build by smglat also comes with genom which gives 10hrs sot easily.
Also the boot animation is dope

The problem with that ROM is that you have to contact the developer directly to find out what Gapps/TWRP to use etc.

I'm also using Atom os, 8 hour SoT and a taste of android 10, with Bitgapps and Gcam. I found the firmware 10.3.6.0 to be the best base for 10, just needed to edit the updater-script
Nice, great suggestion guys, I will def gonna try Siberia OS and AOsip at some point in the future, I briefly tried Atom OS 10 last week but unfortunately it didn't support exFAT for the micro SD card so that's kind a deal breaker for me in any ROM.
So far things have been working in AEX and the battery life is good.

Xiaomi.eu MIUI 10.3.4 Stable + Evira Kernel 4.5 + Magisk
I was trying other roms like RR, Lineage and crDroid but they all had some bugs. I was finally testing Xiaomi.eu and it is my favorite because it is stable, debloated, has many optimizations and is updated frequently thanks to the large community behind. Also, I have debloated the rom more using XiaomiADBFastbootTools leaving a very simple and smooth rom.
With EviraKernel + Kernel Adiutor I get a great life in the battery using alucardshed or zzmoove governors, underclocking CPU and using Adreno Idler GPU + powersave.
Overclocking CPU (big cluster) up to 2.4ghz thanks to Evira Kernel helps me when I want to emulate things like Sega Saturn which run perfectly on the SD660.
With Magisk I rooted the mobile to be able to install Xposed modules and YouTube Vanced.
I think this combination of xiaomi.eu + evira kernel + magisk is the best I've tried in Redmi Note 7 to date.

Once you select a ROM and go to the download page look at the bottom, there is a changelog there.
I don't think the dev is on xda, even the SuperiorOS thread was created by another user, I was just looking at the dev's androidfilehost page when I saw that AEX had a pretty recent release and decided to try it out. So use it "As is".

well, i tried pixel exp for a while, it was great, but the proximity sensor bugging was annoying to me, so i decided to go with xiaomi.eu stable version. I really liked, i got used to miui interface and atm i think i prefer it over the stock android feel of pixelexp.
Tough i did try to install android 10 beta of pixel experience, but my phone got softbricked every time i tried to flash it so i gave up and decided to go tih xiaomi.eu weekly releases.
Also, the main reason i'll stay with xiaomi.eu is that they base their rom on Chinese stock, which comes directly from the phone vendor, which mean that it is quite less likely that the dev will just get tired of releasing regular updates and the rom get abandoned. I don't wanna get used to a OS only for it to not be supported anymore.. Not saying that it will happen on pixel, just that it is a fear of mine.

Official ResurrectionRemix 7.0.2 (20190705)
Minor bugs (Sometimes phone needs multiple tries to wake up), but no force closes, restarts or similar at all. Even the WhatsApp camera (And therefore WhatsApp Web) can be made to work by enabling and disabling HAL3 in "System > Advanced".
I'm using it for these reasons:
1) Stability. The dream of a daily driver that you can rely on in every circumstance. If I have no signal, I know it's not the ROM, if Hotspot doesn't connect, I know it's not the ROM, if I install an app that doesn't function, I know it's not the ROM. Very few bugs and unimportant ones at that.
2) Customisability. Resurrection Remix is still the gold standard.
3) Battery life. It's phantastic. There may be ROMs that are a tad better, but this RR is already great out of the box, no custom kernel needed.
I know the build is a bit older already, but I still recommend this particular one. It's the last build before another developer took over.

Apparently he is using this tool XiaomiADBFastbootTools
But I would argue that a much simpler process, if you have root, would be to just use a file explorer to navigate to these paths:
Code:
/system/app
and
Code:
/system/priv-app
And just delete the apps you don't want to keep, reboot after and it's done.

Using this "Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools"
Download from Github. I can't put the links because I am a new user
you need to have java installed on your computer to make it work.
I am using Unofficial Resurrection Remix 7.0.2 Latest version
As others already said very good rom that you can rely on a daily basis.
Very customizable, fast, no drain in battery.
For my use everything is working fine no bugs.
Hello!
I made a poll to see which rom is most used.
Thank you!

Xiaomi.eu lags but I want call recorder so I was on Cherish...having DS issues. Since 3 days on Octavi and very happy, no DS problems so far, aosp dialer with call recorder, and fast and bug free. Although the chipmunk voice bug in some games might be there but I don't care

I found that the stock rom was quite fast. That's why I can't understand why xiaomi.eu and miuimix lag so much. They are super slow at opening apps compared to stock.
I'm assuming that they are both deodexed and that will likely slow them down on a midrange SoC. That's the only reason I can think of. miuimix runs fine on my Mi 9T Pro that has a much better SoC.
I'm running Octavi OS now and it doesn't lag like xiaomi.eu and miuimix do.

i am not experiencing lagging , micro stutters maybe like on the animation
Some time ago i installed xiaomi.eu. I can agree that is much slower in openning apps. Stock rom was much faster. I had xiaomi.eu installed on Redmi Note 4X and 8T and it was better than stock but Note 10 Pro is slower with xiaomi.eu. Maybe dev's need some time to make this rom better. Now I'm on stock EAA rom rooted and it's perfect for me. Good battery life and speed. I haven't tested any non-miui rom
Using MI Globe rom which is same as xiaomi.eu, just with added options to exclude or include stuff before rom creation. Currently on 12.5.3 of this rom and no issues whatsoever. In fact I like it better than stock 12.5.1 rom because of these options.
Other non-MIUI roms do not have as good camera performance, which is main reason I dont use them.

I tried few, imo, every rom have same result, i will get same performance on this phone, battery same too.
All rom after installed i will root and debloat all trash app, turn kill background app and data.
PE give simple, smooth but poor fearture, lower face unlock speed, can not unlock while wear facemask.
MIUI is smooth enough and funtional, give every thing fearture i need, but i met cellular stanby drain and somethime miss notif.
So best rom base on your choice.
Im still running miui 10 and beside sensor issues in the worst moments and batteryperformance decreased (8-10h sot), im pretty happy.
The release of miui 14 looks pretty interesting, same like miui 13. Unluckily xiaomi will never bring any of those and therefore might xiaomi.eu never aswell.
Meanwhile is there any miui13 port which is super stable and perfectly working (i heart of ghost, miui tn, aphixrog). Im looking for something to flash, forget and never regret (for the next full year).
How is the battery performance ?
I would prefer stock vendor & kernal, no custom "magic" from few days experience dev .
Or should i forget about the "upgrade", stay on miui10 and investigate the drain issues ?
I've tried Abhix.
Thread '[Q] Has anyone tried miui custom roms MIUI SR or AbhiX ROG Edition (both are ports of MIUI 13 on Android 12)' https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...h-are-ports-of-miui-13-on-android-12.4530039/

Depends on the usage, but everything on my phone is adjusted to consume as less as possible (but i havent done wild stuff like lower clockspeed, kernal, voltage... only debloat, disabled everything which could be battery intensive in settings, using leandroid + greenify), meanwhile i range between 7-9 hours i guess, when i fresh installed it i ranged between 8-11 hours.
My battery should still have efficiency around 85-90%, im trying to hold battery between 15-85%.
To answer your question. I personally think everything after miui 10 is bad.
I may gonna try MiuiTN, according telegram groups that seem to be the best miui 13 port.

I checked miuitn 13 A12 but it doesn't have all languages (there is English and a few Asian ones only). Android security updates are from June, while RaphaelOS (also Miui 13 - 22.8.25, A12) are from August 1st. In general, I have the impression that all these roms are very similar. On stock kernel geekbench is 690 and 2675. On Steroid is 700 and 2747. But AbhiX feels more snappy.
Both roms (AbhiX as well) are without encription so you need standard recovery (I have latest official OrangeFox).

On stock kernel geekbench is 690 and 2675. On Steroid is 700 and 2747. But AbhiX feels more snappy.
Both roms (AbhiX as well) are without encription so you need standard recovery (I have latest official OrangeFox).

If there is a workaround to get native language in apps for me personally its not a big problem if i got english in os.
I havent tested a single miui 13 port so far, so i cant bring useful informations to this conversation unluckily.
According telegram groups MiuiTN seem to be the most stable, balanced rom and others are "kanged", but well yeah people talk on telegram...
I unluckily wont have time to test all of them myself so i might follow your experience ;D and maybe some other guys come along this thread and share their experience aswell.
Worst case i stay another year on miui 10 and get Rog Phone 6 after... Im just hell of annoyed my sensors do not work how they should on miui10 sometimes.

About Rog Phone 6 - it bends -
About native language - you can try https://github.com/BlueCat300/XposedAppSettings/releases
Dont go for RaphaelOs.
Better go for Miui12 or MiuiTn.
Im on VoltageOs 2.1 which is awesome, i heard also good stuff from Los20.

8-11h SOT? Picrel or didin't happen.
Which version are you going to test (https://miuitn.vercel.app/Rom_MiuiTN/Raphael/) and is there any info how to install (recovery version, filesystem, etc.)? And the most important - how safe is this?

BTW I'm using Evolution X with stock settings at 72Hz with no battery saving tweaks. I bought the phone more than 3 years ago and use it daily. Afraid to replace this beast because I'm so used to this good SOT.

I easily reach 10 hours sot + on voltageOS. I shared some screenshots of 11-12 hours sot on my 3 year old battery in telegram group with light-medium usage. My idle is dope aswell, most of the time lower then 1% (ext4, voltage2.1, bitgapps, magisk delta).
I heard similar good from LOS20, Android 13 seem to be awesome in terms of background managment (im using 100+ apps).

Did you perhaps have a chance to use EvoX as well? If so, how would you say it compares to VoltageOS?
I've heard only good things about VoltageOS. Are there any issues with it, stuff that does not work?

I have used EvoX 2 years back for a while, cant compare it unfortunatly and i wont flash another rom until i buy a new phone probably.
Well unluckily there are a few issues on Vos2.1:
- Udfps unlock sometimes does not work. (there seem to be the same issue on Los20 and according Los20 dev it seem to be a issue with android system)
- nightmode, reading mode, extra dim does not work together with dc dimming after unlock. (according Voltageos dev this is a common issue on most aosp roms)
- from time to time i notice scrolling laggs and rarely in games aswell. (could be related to kernel, but not sure)
- expandable screenshot ?long screenshot? slightly buggy ? (on miui it have been working better)
- on twitter i have noticed some issues like i couldnt go back to overview after reenter app, on discord after editing i have noticed scrolling does not work anymore. (but those issues can be caused by the app / restricted battery setting / android system idk)
Thats all i have noticed so far, more or less (if i have not missed anything). Anyway im very happy and think its a really great rom. The only thing which is bothering me the most is udfps unlock inconsistency and for night mode + dc dimming i am using twilight. (those things have been working better on miui, not gonna lie. )

Thanks for the thorough review, friend!
I might just give it a go one day. I must admit that MiuiTN also looks tempting since I like the classic Miui style, but I can't find much reliable information on that rom.

I have not been using miuitn for a long time, so i unluckily cant tell you more about that. Miui13 ports for sure arent as stable as official releases / xiaomi eu roms.
So it might depends on your personal usage, you might not get around trying it out at your own.
You can also join the telegram group, there you can follow discussions about miuitn releases. People this days most likely use telegram. (which i personally dislike over xda, but what ever.)
