...on my stock gingerbread Tab with CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v3.3-CWM3RFS kernel?
Does it make any sense?
Shall I try a Custom Rom instead?

So stock rom + this kernel = as good as a custom rom (like in stability and speed)?

sweep2wake is not made for this phone.
Try and ask @fshami about Volume2wake, he has made that mod before for other roms
