Hi All,
I got the ATIV SE and really like it. Problem is that even though it's unlocked SIM and I have also developer unlocked it, I cannot get internet sharing to turn on. I bought from Verizon, but am using it on T-Mobile. Error is:
To enable tethering on this device, go to Verizon.com or dial *611
What is the best way to get this phone to forget about Verizon? Is there a way to just factory reset to vanilla windows?
Thanks for help

I'm not sure but could it be possible that your carrier lock Tethering?
Have you tried an oter csc?
Or can you flash an other ROM`?
Thanks for the reply. No, carrier does not lock. The problem is with the phone being set up to think it's a Verizon phone. Is there a way to flash another rom here? or something like root?
We can interop-unlock Samsung WP8 phones, although if it's fully up-to-date it may need to be downgraded first. I don't know if that will help you, though. I can't tether (well, not over WiFi; wired works) my non-T-Mobile phone on TMo either.
There won't be another CSC to flash... Unless you can get @-W_O_L_F- to help you out with a custom rom....

Sorry for the slow reply. I didn't get notified by this site that there was a reply to my post.
Can you please help me out with how to do this with ATIV SE?
Interop-unlock instructions are in my signature. I don't know if they'll help you though, and if you're on GDR3 (probable) then you'll need to downgrade first (or use a custom ROM) and for that you need to read @-W_O_L_F-'s threads. I don't know if there's a base ROM (non-Verizon) for the SE; if there is you can probably flash that but we may not have one.
If you wanted to know how to do wired tethering, just search for "tether ATIV S". Seriously, #1 rule of this forum is literally "search before posting"

Seriously, thank you for the reply. I did lots of searching, but since ATIV S and SE are quite different, I wasn't sure if anything related to S would work.
I'd love to flash an SE base ROM on this, but I haven't been able to find that there is one.
The MS Store in Bellevue said that they would be getting a Samsung base ROM in a couple months that they would flash onto my device for me. But I'd like to do this sooner.
Should I reach out and read wolf's threads to see about using a custom ROM here then?
Thanks!

Try a variation on the following method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52490701&postcount=5
Worked for the HTC 8x, should work for Samsung as long as you can put in the right model ID. (hint: it's not "dm=Windows%20Phone%208X%20by%20HTC" for your Samsung.) Good luck!

Thanks for that! The process worked and got me almost there.
Ok! Super progress here. This is what you need to add for the Samsung ATIV SE
// Replace oemId=Samsung with oemId=NOKIA
oSession.PathAndQuery = oSession.PathAndQuery.Replace ("oemId=SAMSUNG", "oemId=NOKIA");
// Replace the device model with the dm for the Nokia 925 (AT&T / North America):
oSession.PathAndQuery = oSession.PathAndQuery.Replace ("dm=ATIV%20SE", "dm=RM-893_nam_att_206");
Note the CAPS for the oemId.
I installed Access Point (along with some other cool Nokia Apps). I went to enable Internet Sharing, but now I have a new message:
Add Internet sharing?
"Your current data plan doesn't include Internet Sharing (it does). Do you want to open an app from your mobile operator to add it? Internet sharing use your cellular data and may incur additional charges."
Any ideas where to go from here? Clicking Yes does nothing. So does clicking no.

At this point, I'd call T-Mobile and see if they can double-check everything on their end. They might need to reprovision your data services. I had a similar issue with my old iPhone when I added the 500MB tethering option.
They do have an "access point" app (I forget what it is called) that comes pre-installed on their phones. (Literally useless, it is so when you click Yes on the "learn more" button" it tells you to call customer care to enable internet sharing. I always delete it off of mine when I restore from stock).
That is another fun trick: to get rid of apps you can't uninstall, set the date and time on your phone to later than 2200 and click on the app...it will tell you that it expired and give you the option to uninstall it!
Let me know how you make out!
fruehling,
Did you ever get this solved? I'm planning on getting this phone too, but for use on At&t. I hope I don't run into the same problem. But I do have some questions to ask you, I hope you don't mind answering....1) Does the voice call works as any unlocked phone? .... 2) Can T-Mobile detect that you're using an ATIV SE? Or does T-Mobile says you have an Unknown device when you check your online account? Thanks!

If you are in Dev Preview.. try the foreign sim trick
if not just install a new keyboard.
I followed the procedure outlined, and using SysAppPusher, it attemped to install "access point" under Microsoft mobile (not Lumia), and from the store, the status changed to "owned". But it didn't actually install it.
I turned off the proxy (as it was recommended) and it still didn't install it. Any idea as to what could be wrong?
I'm on the latest 8.1 release.
Does anyone know what happened to the Smart Caller ID with the S10? I've went through the settings and seemingly enabled everything relating to it, but am possibly missing something? I had it previously on my note 8 and certainly miss having it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Here's a link to what I am talking about: https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/apps/smart-call/
I do not have the toggle below blocked calls as noted in this webpage, but I do have 'Smart Call' as an app and permissions enabled. Not sure if it's a Verizon block or something?
I have it with my unlocked s10 on tmobile.
Yeah, sadly I do not have that in call settings. I'm thinking it has to do with Verizon blocking it for some unknown reason, likely to push their premium plans. Really miss having that feature and would be willing to flash if need be to bring it back.
Upon looking further, it appears my thinking was correct, Verizon disables this feature. Interestingly enough, my phone was purchased from Samsung.com in full, no contract pricing, so it comes with the U1 firmware installed. Apparently something must've taken place when I setup the phone and Verizon installed it's own profile. Anyone know of a way to disable this or best method to avoid this so my phone appears as an unlocked phone? Would hate to have to flash via Odin seeing as I am running the U1 firmware already, just have Verizon somehow messing with the unlocked nature of the device.
On 3 in Denmark, I enable it and come back later and it has been disabled again.

Yes it does.
I work in a cell carrier in Canada, when you first put a sim in an unlocked samsung it downloads and reboots with their customizations.
your Verizon phone is NOT preloaded with U1 firmware!
your Verizon phone comes unlocked.
My phone is constantly being interrupted by this annoying popup: (I can't post links being a new user, but the image is at imgur FN7uUhL )
"Alert
Sorry, we're having trouble connecting. Make sure you have a good signal and try again. If you still can't connect, call us at 800-922-0204.
Error code 1001"
It doesn't say what app it is, but I suspect it's from Verizon because the phone number is theirs.
My phone is unlocked and I use it on Personal in Argentina. I've used this phone for years and this only started happening last Thursday out of nowhere. No new apps, no system upgrade.
Rebooting the phone doesn't help either, and I wouldn't want to factory reset if it can be avoided. Any ideas what this might be?
Thanks!
same, just today noticed this on an older LG G4

Same here on my note 4, using T-mo prepaid. Just started a week ago. Also the verizon splash screen still displays on power up. My understanding is the V boot loader is locked.

SOLVED I had the same problem as well but I found a way to get rid of it, you gotta disable the My Verizon app and then 1 settings then mobile networks then network mode and set the global off to LTE/GSM/UMTS and then it will not pop up anymore, your welcome.
by Myles Tecomba
Good news, I found the locations since I don't have "my verizon apps" Bad news, the fix does NOT work at all.
Solved
I actually got online with Motorola because I knew that the app causing this nightmare was Verizon Login . The problem is that I debloated all my Verizon and the problem still occurred. But then by going through Settings | Apps | ... |Show System, I say the bugger was still there. I disabled it and the problem was solved. Of course this worked for me because I'm on an unblocked phone and note using Verizon.
My husbands Samsung Galaxy S7 has been doing this for over a month. He tried disabling anything Verizon related and even a factory reset and it's still doing it.

Yes, I did same with my note 4, still there. IGNORE those solved posts, this problem is NOT solved. I use T-mobile prepaid with this phone and since verizon locks the boot loader, there is not yet a rooting solution for this phone and since it's a note 4 there will not be one forthcoming.
fixed it permanently
SOLVED: I have two Verizon phones that I now use on T-Mobile and this has worked for both.
Settings->Apps & Notifications->App Info (options may be slightly renamed on different versions of Android, may be Applications instead, just get to the big list of applications in the Settings app)
then hit the triple dot/menu thing to give extra options and choose Show System
Scroll down and choose Verizon Login and disable it and force stop it.
Message will be gone forever. I've rebooted both phones several times and the message has never come up again.
In addition, disable permissions of My Verizon: SMS, phone and GPS location, your welcome

So I have an old Verizon tablet that is running android 5.1.1. I don't have options for "show system" or "Verizon login" that I can find. Anybody familiar with this 5.1.1 that knows where it would be or if I'm overlooking. Thanks.
Awesome! I'm using an unlocked Verizon LG G5 in Canada and I've been trying for quite some time to get rid of this problem. I've tried all the suggested fixes I could find on the net and this is the solution! Thanks so much buddy. Much appreciated eh!
This problem started recently for me on Samsung S6 unlocked Verizon phone that I use with foreign SIM cards when traveling. I tried restoring settings to default, but that didn't work. Then I tried resetting network settings and that appears to have worked. it was popping up every couple minutes and so far it has not.
don't work
i know this is a old post but i changed the network it didnt fix it it made me not have signal and still popped up so i had to change it back to global and its still doing it , it only started last month i have a s6 unlocked verzion its so annoying

I had the same problem on my unlocked S6 Edge and knew that the Verizon Login app was the issue but the damn phone wouldn't let me disable it; grayed out. I bought an app in the Play Store named "Package Disabler Pro (Samsung)" for $2.99. The thing will let you disable ANY software whether built in or not. So once you launch, disable Verizon Login with it and the problem is gone. If you disable "Setup Wizard", you also won't get the stupid message about the SIM not being VZW card when you boot. I disabled all the other Verizon software too. Problem was so aggravating that I got an account here just to share the answer since I figure it has to be driving people CRAZY!!!!

Help!!!
Still having this issue, I’ve disabled all those apps, force stopped them, and it continues to haunt the phone. I’ve called Verizon and they don’t know anything about it, and I’m really about to throw the phone away and buy a new one. It’s an s7 so it’s still a decent phone, but I don’t know what else to do
So Close, but Disable is Disabled

This definitely got me closer. Using this method I was able to revoke permissions which forces VZ SpyLogin to fail so it isn't running, BUT, the "Disable" button is disabled, even if I force stop the app. It's most certainly this application causing the issue. Thanks for the closest solution.
**EXTRA info
This wasn't happening at all on my phone ever, and this is an old one (I need the IR blaster in the Samsung G6). It's an unlocked Verizon branded phone running on ATT network. I factory reset it yesterday and now I am getting this annoying Verizon Login nonsense.
So many people are reporting with the 3/1 sweep by AT&T, that they are blocking almost all Unlocked phones: See: Downdector Link We personally have a S10 (G973U1). AT&T is saying on this list: AT&T approved phone list that it is supposed to work. But like many other people "calls" end immediately, but we can text and data work. It is some sorta ploy by AT&T to force us to upgrade our phones. They want us all to upgrade to S22s. Anyway I was ranting. Anyway, if you look at that link, they are saying that the phone has to be on the latest software. The last update from AT&T or the manufacturer was in January. I checked the firmware site, and Android 11 is the latest in January. I'm wondering if there is some hack to get us on to '12' or something. An update might solve this issue. We know that a new SIM does not work. Calls seem to be rejected on the network, just based on the phone model or Android version.
We are aware that a version 12 is out there for the phone, just that firmware is not for our US-unlocked model yet. But maybe it can be hacked?
Edit: It appears this thread may be linked with this older one... But it is ever more pressing issue now:
S10 Unlocked phone with AT&T Firmware here they explain how, and the problems with flashing. This was back in 2019, so I'm not sure if this will still work. Even then it didn't work for everyone. Some in that forum claimed that it did. AT&T seems to now be blocking from their calling network any phones not enabled with VOLTE and the extended AT&T services that are not present in Unlocked phones.

I was helped by a user to achieve ascendance onto the AT&T network. I'm not sure if I'm to reveal his name. We 1) go into Developers mode on the phone. 2) Hack the Kernel. 3) Flash the rom to the G973U (model)... with the AT&T firmware. So that the Wifi-Calling and 5G features would work, and AT&T would allow it on their network.

At first I had to use the Samsung Band Selector app from the Play store and go into More Network Settings > AT&T > Preferred Network Type and choose 3G. Unfortunately this killed LTE so all data and calls were going through H+. As I was mostly on wifi I could live with it since I could actually use the phone again.
Then Friday morning I checked for updates and there was the update to take me to Android 12. I took the update then when it finished it said it needed to reboot to connect new SIM to carrier services....it wasn't a new SIM. I let it reboot and everything was working with VoLTE again.
Hope this helps.

I appreciate you getting back to me. Unfortunately I am still on android 11 with a custom ROM and also this is a global phone so that app didnt work for me. I dont receive OTA updatez. I'll update to a new ROM and see what happens. Thanks
Summary Issue: Starting in March 2022, some Samsung Galaxy S20 FE devices started having connectivity issues with carriers. This specifically impacted my phone, a US Cellular-branded phone S20 FE 5G. Specifically, this was a problem for the SM-G781U model number. At some point in March, a samsung update was released that created a bug/connectivity issue affiliated with making calls or connecting to the carrier data networks.
Resolution: This issue can be resolved by flashing stock Samsung Firmware to move you to the SM-G781U1 model number. You do not need to be rooted/have your bootloader unlocked.
Skills needed: low
Note: you will need a Windows computer w. admin privileges
Steps
Download Bifrost to download the official Samsung firmware. Model: SM-G781U1 Version: XAA (this is the carrier-non-specific version)
Download the patched version of Odin
Use Odin to flash SM-G781U1 firmware to the phone. You do not need a bootloader unlock (takes around 15 minutes)
Fixed.
this is the kind of post this forum doesn't have enough of.
Thanks! My parents have been going nuts with this over the weekend. They have an unlocked T-Mo version used on AT&T. My mom took it to a store today and the idiot blamed it on the ROM and tried to sell them new phones.
I'm going to send this to my dad and have them try. I'll report back.
Thanks!
How do you get it in to download mode? I've tried the methods I've found online, but I keep ending up at the recovery screen.
NM got it.
I got it into download mode and sent the files. Log shows two files it sent, then it's just sitting there. It's been almost 15 minutes and nothing's really happening. Did I do something wrong?
Wonder if it's a Windows 11 issue.
Hi I recently purchased a refurbished phone and it won't connect to the mobile data. The first one i had do this I sent back. But now the 2nd won't either. This one says the model # is SM-G781V. Does the instructions you posted work for this model or is there something else I have to do?
Sometimes quick fix is toggle airplane mode on and off. You can reset network settings. Also look up your providers APN settings and be sure you add them in your phone and select that one.
