I got an "s21" ultra from an auction site. I am trying to transfer my info from my contract s20 5g . Unfortunately Telus canada. was unable to make it work. Does anyone have any info on these Alps phones. is there another name (not junk) for it , Is it worth it to flash it with newer rom or can i make it work as is.
any help would be appreciated,.

use an app like contact transfer, use wifi to do so.
I just got these phones with 4.4..2 but they do not do anything, i rooted with king root and everything kind of just stopped working google play said it was having errors if i didn't update, and then i wasn't able to install any applications from anywhere it just doesn't install. I got two of these from an auction suite, at first they worked with root but idk what happened in between. I've gotten into fastboot I've tried fastboot -w, I've rebooted to recovery in adb and gotten the ui to function and go through factory data reset and wipe cache, but it just does not wipe. I've gone into the factory MTK mode where it is where it is all in Chinese and trial and errored my way through to a factory reset and wipe cache but that doesn't perform it either. I'm having trouble finding the stock images or maybe just gunna have to build a CWM from MTK tools Check out this project here from @bovirus: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ot-tools-mediatek-android-smartphone.2160490/
they are junky and cluncky. i would not buy them again

Just do it manually. Even if you already have this version of the firmware it should fix the problem.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x4/development/flash-official-frmware-moto-x4-t3730750
NOTE: Not sure which variant/carrier the provided firmware is on that thread. The OP seems to indicate that it is a generic version that should work for all. Someone else mentions it being for all US variants. Another mentions it working as well on their European device. Might want to search around to make sure you're downloading the right firmware for your specific device or at least ask around on that thread. If you're truly stuck though, it might be worth a shot. Generally manually installing a device's firmware fixes all issues with the device.
NOTE 2: This page has more details on the same process and seems to confirm that this is more of a generic global version of the firmware that has reportedly been working for pretty much everyone who's tried it so far.

Watch the commands in use, do not run this one!
mfastboot erase userdata
I can't speak on this command mfastboot erase ddr , because I don't know what ddr is yet
Did you try rebooting your phone and deleting cache.. The OTA file gets downloaded and saved in the cache files AFAIK. you should boot to recovery and try deleting cache and dalvik!
i had to reset my phone! i almost tried everything it was just stuck at 8% now it's updated! @LenAsh u can close this thread now

Hi all guys,
yesterday i updated my Mi5 to miui 10 but after rebooting to system i got an annoying bluetooth problem so it just didn't work at all.
So i repeated the same procedure (uploaded another .zip via usb, rebooted to TWRP installed the zip) and as a poor dumb i checked wipe data..
And i don't have any recent backup
So i'm trying to get my data back because there they are, i found two softwares that promise to do the job (minitool and Gihosoft) but both get stacked asking me to root my phone (which i remember i already did). Anyway i followed xda guide about magisk and installed from TWRP, so now i have the app installed but the software still stacked.
Can anybody help me please?
I really need to get those data back.
Ps. now the bloody bluetooth works
Pps. i found this topic and i'm now trying the other software.. Still if anyone has better option they will be more than welcome.
So I have a Moto E5 Plus (hannah) XT1924-8
and I'm in a jam.
I'm new to moto phones I just moved over to this phone 4 days ago from my HTC M9 yeah I have been a HTC guy for a long time.
My stock rom is fubar, when it boots up I get that encrypt storage thing & reset phone etc.... (no password box) but reset phone is not fixing it.
The boot loader is unlocked
& my twrp is on twrp-3.2.3-0-hannah.img got it from twrp.me
So my problem is that I want to re-flash my stock rom but "Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant" witch did worked 4 times this week but now does not want to work anymore.
It comes back at me with "this device is not supported" & that is not true.
So Now I can't get back to stock & I have not been able to get any custom rom to work me as well.
So my ?s to all of you:
Is there some kind of fix for the "Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant"?
and if not then where do I get a copy of the stock rom & some info on how I should go about installing it
and yes I have the newest adb all installed & I think I have the right driver installed "Motorola_Mobile_Drivers_64bit_v6.4.0.msi" Motorola ADB Interface 7/7/2013 v2.0.2.0
Any help will be much appreciated
Also is the phone default encryption getting in the way of me installing Lineage 15.1 or Bootleggers ??
When ever I try to installing a custom rom I get the dreaded 'To Start Android, Enter Password'
also in twrp /data does not mount when ever I booted into twrp, I had to change the format from ext4 to exfat & then change it back to ext4, from that point on it mounts no problem.
My HTC m9 phone did not have encryption on so I'm not use to working around it.
Well I'm going to return this thing & stay with my HTC m9 with only a 10% working battery.
It seems that no one is going to help me.??
there might be reasons why people wouldn't respond
1. this board isn't active like you'd expect it to be
2. there's already threads out there to save yourself from this
anyway, on twrp, you'd need to FORMAT data to have it de-encrypted... and you'd need to flash a certain boot image that prevents it from auto-encrypting, which is in one of the threads. you'd also never would want to use the smart assistant, because as you can see, it won't work. i don't know if there's a stock rom for your variant, so i can't really link you to yours, but getting it from the moto assistant isn't ideal, it's better to get it from here on the forums or something.
so, in order to install a custom rom, flash the boot.img that doesn't have encrypt, and then flash the gsi system image, and then flash magisk in twrp.
There should already be a thread with the xt1924-8 stock firmware in here somewhere just gotta search. If not I'd suggest trying to re-flash the stock recovery and boot images if you have those and then just try to do a recovery from within.
well I already returned it.
I did read many many many guides on here & on other websites before asking for help.
most of them did not say anything about the book.img to turn off the auto-encrypting.
again I never had to work around auto-encrypt before.
Also @wihzard
I did look for a stock rom for (hannah) XT1924-8 but did not find it.
anyways I returned it & now I'm looking for a unused M9 to replace my old one,
I will end up putting LineageOS 16.0 on it.
Thanks for replying
my moto e5 plus is bricked im pretty sure ...any help anyone?

I need help as well haven't had much time to get on here and try to get help. I have the XT1924-7 varriant. I had discovered a hidden network that was placed on there by an ex to track me. So I factory reset I had AEX pie installed on it. Come to find out factory reset didn't even get ride of had to follow some extra steps to erase partitions that weren't wiped during the reset with TWRP. So my problem is once booted and going through setup process these pop up start popping up(screen shots below)the first is the modem keeps stopping. I get that about 25 times of hitting ok then I get one last one stating internal error need to factory reset. IVE DONE THAT COMPLETELY DELETED IT ALL RESTORED ALL. I've flashed NON-HLOS alone withe the erase modem 1&2. And still I've done diffent methods of trying to restore and get nowhere. Any help would be appreciated
OK so I finally got my dev unlock after one week. I immediately installed TWRP and was in awe as I did my first TWRP 64 bit backup and watch in amazment as I backed up everything. Having a global version is obviously a big mistake if I want to use roms though as I tried XOSP, and Pixel PI and had nothing but errors. I then tried to use the Chinese TWRP version as advised by someone and reflash the rom. This amounted in a big mistake as everytime as it would only reboot to TWRP.
Next I noticed that all files in the File Manager were garbled (encrypted?) so I started panicing and trying different TWRP's and wipes as per different instructions. In the end my stupid ass is stuck with fastboot lock out; no recovery and now I can't even flash recovery from fastboot ?!?
Next : I tried MIflash wont take the latest global rom files extracted to folder (missing flash all .bat) nor Mimanger wants me to log in. Nor latest Miflash.
Have I softbricked ? I feel really dumb right now. Though to be fair to me, the forums are really convelioted with many half way attempts and 3 different varients with people experimenting swapping this for that. I just wanted to get this phone to have the XDA full experience I have had for years and now I think I really messed up ...
HELPP !!!! If you are able to thanks ..
used cepheus_global_images_9.6.27_20190627.0000.00_9.0_global ; this worked... ran the .bat file : Old MiFlash doesn't work, newer ones have windows library stop errors (Java, .net missing ...probably ? ) None of the tools out seemed to work and downloads I assume were only updates (but there wasn't clear indication of this. It wasn't until I found that particular build that I could find the flash_all.bat in root. I guess that is the best option despite all these pretty tools..
Help - my S20FE is driving me to the point where I'll reactivate my 15 year old nokia...
Here's what I have:
S20FE (german t-mobile, SM-G780G DS), latest OS image (G780GXXU3DVK5), rooted with the latest Magisk version.
What I'm experiencing: the UI freezes up, then eventually restarts, every 5 to 10 minutes. Visually the only indication that it's not an actual reboot is the fact that it goes directly to the screen that only has "SAMSUNG" on it, without the screen with the "bootloader is unlocked" warning that you'd normally see first.
I'm pretty sure it is not a hardware issue, when it first started I did a full wipe / reflash, and then the phone worked fine for about a week or two, now it's doing it again.
Is there ANY way to actually see WHAT is crashing, and maybe even why? I already wiped the cache of that oneUI, and the whole cache from recovery, that did not help.
I guess I'm the only one here who has a S20FE.
Hi, did you manage to solve the issue? I'm currently on Android 11 One UI 3.1 but thinking about updating but I want to know everything first. I was reading that you can update without loosing root but I want to know that is safe first.
I am not completely sure yet but I believe I have it narrowed down to two apps.
I actually went back to the previous major version which was a pain all in itself, it's not easy to find downloads for older Samsung images... anyway, I am back on Android 12, and one UI 4.1, when the crashes start again....
eventually, I uninstalled greenify and kde-connect and the crashes have stopped so far.

I have done updates w/o loosing root or data on magisk-rooted samsung devices, but it is a manual process.
1. use samfirm or frija to get the latest rom image zipfile for your device
2. unpack the firmware zip, you'll get 5 image files.
3. update the magisk app on your device
4. out of the 5 files from the firmware zip, copy the one that starts with AP_ to your device
5. use the magisk app on your device to apply magisk to that file
6. copy the file resulting in that patch back to your computer
up to here the process is the same as the initial install of magisk on a samsung, minus the unlocking of the bootloader.
7. get your device into download mode, and use odin to flash all four parts (BL, CP, AP, and this is important HOME_CSC). by flashing HOME_CSC instead of CSC into the appropriate slot you retain all user data!!
So far this was worked for me on a Tab S2, and a S20fe. Haven't tried on any other yet. YMMV.
I did everything just as described and I'm currently with a boot loop and eventually boots into stock recovery and ask me to do a factory reset. I guess it's over then, I'm loosing all my data.
