Hello,
I've been using the s21 ultra 512gb exynos for the last few months and have encountered numerous issues. Honestly one of the most unstable phones I've owned. This is my first and last Samsung phone, there support isn't much help either.
One major issue I've been having is related to my esim. Since the July security patch, mobile data would drop out after 10mins and would not automatically restore unless I either restart the phone or toggle flight mode.
I have a personal sim and work sim (one physical and one esim in the same phone).
I've reset factory settings, and now have the latest firmware version as of a few days ago. Some details of troubleshooting so far:
- Reset to factory settings
- Add the esim profile from scratch
- Reset apn settings
- sent numerous logs to Samsung whilst the issue is happening.
I've also tried a different carrier esim, no issues with them whatsoever. Tried a physical sim from my current carrier, no issues at all.
I'm not sure how to proceed and it's getting quite frustrating. Has anyone encountered this issue or know of any workarounds?
Thank you.

I ordered a P30 Pro from Amazon on July 2nd. While waiting for it to be delivered, I put my (new) AT&T sim card into a Galaxy S10. I used the S10 for about a week. Right away, I noticed an issue with the text messaging. I could send SMS texts to an individual, but when sending bulk SMS texts to a group, only some of the group would receive the texts. I tried troubleshooting the problem with no luck. In the meantime, my P30 Pro was delivered, so I switched the sim card to it. The texting problem persisted, so I called AT&T tech support. The customer support rep decided it was an issue with an IMEI mismatch in their system. Apparently, the system still had me set up using the IMEI of the S10. After updating the IMEI in the system, the text issue seemed to be improved, but I completely lost LTE connectivity. The customer support rep said this happened because my device was registered as a 2G device using the correct IMEI. I explained to her that it was not a 2G device, but she told me as long as I continued using the IMEI from my phone, it would only function as a 2G device. Ultimately, I had her switch the IMEI back to that of the S10. The LTE is definitely more important to me than having the ability to group text.
I have 3 questions:
1. How could the IMEI be the issue when the text issue started with the S10? Unless they were using the IMEI of a device different to the S10 to begin with, this doesn't make sense to me.
2. Has anyone experienced the texting issue, and if so, how did you fix it?
3. Does using the IMEI of the P30 Pro automatically kill LTE on the AT&T network? Seems like if this is true, it is purely an issue with AT&T and how they have the device set up in their system.
I have no problems on AT&T and have used many Huawei phones over the years. They definitely have your line/device provisioned incorrectly. Go into a store (or call and request) that a new SIM card is sent to you. Put this new card in an AT&T branded device and then move it over to your P30 Pro. I'm betting all of your issues will go away.

Goronok, thank you for the advice. I have a new SIM card coming. I really hope this will fix the issue! :fingers-crossed:

Well, I put a new SIM card in the phone last night, and the text messaging issues persist. I took out my SIM card and put my daughter's SIM in the device, and everything worked as it was supposed to. I called AT&T tech support, and they insisted it was a device specific issue. They had me turn off and turn back on Advanced Messaging, but nothing changed. I tested my SIM in two phones, my P30 Pro and my daughter's S10, and the text messaging issue followed my SIM. I put my daughter's SIM in both phones, and the text messaging issue went away both times. It must be a provisioning issue of some sort.
Quick Update - My text messaging issue has not been resolved. AT&T insists that it is an issue with a mismatched IMEI number. We correctly set the IMEI number and as a result lost LTE connectivity. Since they don't have a P30 Pro profile loaded into their computer system, it has to be registered as a generic 2G device when using the correct IMEI number. I had them escalate the IMEI issue to have it correctly programmed into the system so that it will be recognized as a legitimate 4G device. I am currently using a different IMEI number in the short term that belongs to another 4G device on my account so that I won't be without LTE. Once this is fixed, we will go back to addressing the messaging issue. As a side note, I don't believe the IMEI mismatch is causing the messaging issue. For the one day I had the correct IMEI number listed in their system, the messaging still did not work correctly.
Anyone else with network problems in some areas after Android 12? . In certain areas I my network drops, sometimes show me a good strength but when a call someone he answer and we can't hear each other. For calls works when he wants. Tried everything including Hard reset, Network reset, Clear cache, switching 5g/4g/3g/2g fresh install of official Samsung Rom via ODIN. Also did optimisation applications and nothing helps. I'm using s21 ultra, Exynos.I used my old iPhone Xs two days and works without any network issues. I go yesterday to my seller ( Saturn - A big technology shop) and they refuse to take me phone for repair/return because "They own the model too, they change the SIM card operator and nothing helps and it's a problem from this model, so they can't do anything" Can someone give me advice or some tips to try? I'm using the latest January update and can't go back to Android 11 rom because of new bootloader software...
I have it too. I have a good signal in big cities, but the village is a disaster. My past xiaomi was a good signal

I think that's how Samsung phones have it. I compared it to an older Samsug and it was exactly the same
Ive got issues after installing BULF. It seems samsung messed up some security patch somewhere. Certain websites will not load on 5G or 4G+ Data, while it works on wifi and on tether to other devices. Funny thing is, if I switch it to 3G data, site loads fine.... Tried my sim on Note 10+ 5g running A11...Sites load & Works perfectly. Ive even factory reset to no avail, thinking it was some kind of glitch or somthing...
I have this in Ireland as well. Didn't have the phone on android 11 for long but the network signal now on 12 is definitely not good. Actual phone signal is bad not to mind 4g/5g. Any fixes?
Hi Everyone
I purchased a second hand s20 6 months ago and i am no longer getting any network carrier coverage.
I took my phone to local mobile repair shop and they identified that my base software was South Korean for some reason so they factory reinstalled Android 12 with UK Software. (This still does not work and they are stuck trying to solve the problem)
I'm fairly certain that this issue started when i upgraded from Android 11 to 12.
Please can anyone suggest a possible solution for my phone problem?
Things i have done so far:
1.) Factory reset phone several times including separate network resets.
2.) Tested my new replacement Virgin sim card in 2 other phones (This works)
3.) Tried several working sim cards in my s20 phone (None worked)
4.) Confirmed my phone is not barred or locked.
5.) Checked that i can see other Mobile network operators (Does not connect when i select my provider)
6.) Tested in other cities to confirm it's not a signal coverage issue.
7.) And finally, my phone has the latest Android 12 updates inc local app updates
Thank you
Just to add a further update, i have managed to get my phone working intermittently through WIFI but i still have an issue when outside my home.

Your phone can be in the blacklist as some unpaid fees in the contract of origin provider you purchased this phone. I had exactly same problems and after pay all over due bills phone went into normal.
My S20 Ultra LTE keeps detecting a ghost SIM in the second SIM slot and is making my phone lost signal. Is there a way I can convert it from dual SIM to single SIM?
I don't know how I ended up letting this issue last for so long but it has been happening for a good 3-4 months. It might have been after a firmware update, it might not. But at this point it's driving me coco-nuts.
Phone: Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G (SM-G998B/DS), using an e-sim.
Whenever I try to "actively" use my phone on cellular data (e.g. opening the Youtube app), without fail I will lose all connectivity and the "No Service" logo will show in the status bar. It takes 10-30secons to cycle back to having service, rinse, repeat. I get 2-3 seconds of working cellular data each cycle.
This doesn't happen if I don't try to "actively" use data. The phone holds service, I'll even receive Whatsapp Calls with no problem so long as I don't initiate them.
I've tried resetting network settings. I've also tried switching Network mode from "5G/4G/3G/2G (auto connect)" to the other options.
Any ideas?
bump
It's likely a problem with your e-sim data plan. Have you tried using a normal sim?
I should've mentioned I tested it with a plastic sim from a different operator and the issue remained.
I had this same issue since Jan. A few S21U phones have it and it seems to be some kind of software + hardware issue that affects a small portion of the phones.
The OneUI 4.1 update should fix it. have you got this on your phone yet? If not you should see it soon.
Thread from the Samsung community forum. posts at the end from MattH665 is me, detailing my extremely frustrating ordeal with this issue:

Until you have the update, if you force your phone to 3G (assuming 3G isn't shut off where you are) then you might be able to get by. Mine worked fine on 3g (of course it's slow).

I had tried googling the issue using many, many keywords and was getting stumped with unrelated results.
Your "S21 Ultra reception fail" youtube video is basically exactly what was happening on my phone, albeit a bit faster to recover from the no service status.
And...... I basically got the notification for the OneUI 4.1 update around the same time I was notified of your response. The issue has disappeared altogether.
Thank you for bringing it up with the techs at Samsung. Don't know how long I could've held on to the device in this state.
As a side note to anyone reading this in the future, there was an update to the "Private Compute Services" app available as soon as the phone reboot from the OneUI 4.1 update. The 24th of March patch notes claim "operating system improvements and capabilities. Bug fixes and various optimizations.". That could also have been the fix.
Cheers.
Hello, I'm having an issue getting my Visible service working on my Galaxy S21 Ultra SM-G998U1.
I purchased the phone on Swappa to replace my OP7 Pro, so I'm not sure exactly what carrier or model its from. But it should be factory unlocked and I can't call, text, or get data.
I tried installing a Verizon sim but still no service. T-Mobile sim works perfectly though. And I've tried all the troubleshooting steps like network reset, adding APNs, even factory reset.
When I boot the phone or cycle airplane mode, occasionally 5G will turn on for a few seconds and immediately disconnect again.
The APNs all install automatically when I put the SIM in but i just don't get any service, even though it's showing full bars.
go to your sim settings and deactivate it then reactivate it. What version of android are you running? is it rooted? Need more info on your phone. You're sure it's U1 and not an exynos model?

I have done that many times. I've also tried all different firmwares and SIMs from various carriers. Visible and Verizon are the only ones that don't work.
It's running Android 12 latest firmware. I believe it was originally purchased from Verizon but it's now on U1.
What does it say under service provider software version under software information? Vzw/vzw, vzw/vzw?

Yes, four VZW codes.
It's strange because when I reboot the phone it will briefly connect to 5G then immediately disconnect and say "Emergency Calls Only". My SIM is activated and works perfectly in my OP7 Pro.
I can also use T-Mobile and ATT Sims in the Samsung.
Ok, so if I lock it to 5G or LTE then the data works. But calls and texts don't work no matter what.
So I figured it out. It seems to have been a hardware issue with the phone itself. I ordered a different S21 Ultra just to see if it would work and it accepted my SIM immediately. For whatever reason it wouldn't accept Visible or Verizon SIMs even though it was unlocked.
Bit frustrating I wasted several days trying to figure out the problem but at least I figured it out. Posting this here in case anyone has a similar issue with a second hand used S21 Ultra.
I had a s8 plus that wouldn't connect to visible and I went through all kinds of heck. I finally figured out that because the firmware was u1 that it was not compatible. When I flashed to a u firmware I was able to connect to visible. I also heard the nines and tens had the same issue. It may be that Verizon puts a block on u1 firmwares
Also I think I had to manually change a few settings for my APN after I change to a firmware ending in u.

It's funny how Visible will not accept The s21 Ultra when I have net10 5G on Verizon towers. Been that way since I bought the phone new last year.
