Venus Yas = P20 PRO Prototype? - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi
I recently bought used P20 PRO but when I check firmware details it displays that it is "Venus Yas" with 16gb storage and 2gb ram.
Is this some kind of prototype unit?
Should I return it or somehow try to maybe update? It was in good price but it looks like this was the trick...
Thanks!

Seems like a fake device, can you take a screenshot

Is it worth the upgrade from a mate 10 (non pro)?

Has anyone here upgraded to the p20 pro from a mate 10?
Is the camera really that significantly better?
Would you recommend it?
Unfortunately there is no way for me to try a store demo unit where I'm located. It's all Samsung/Apple here
I would wait for Mate 20... Newer hardware like CPU, etc if your set on Huawei.
Otherwise the Pixel 3 would be a good choice.

Huawei P20 Pro 8Gb ram 128gb rom CLT-L00

Hi, I have bought a huawei p20 pro with 8gb of ram and 128gb of storage. I have never seen the likes of it but it is a chinese version. I thought it was not original at first, but i checked the serial number on Huawei's site and it is original! Now i want to debrand it as i need to install the EU firmware. Will this decrease the 8gb of ram to 6gb?

Since when Software changes effect the Hardware, that if you use some other software it will decrease or increase your Hardware capabilities? So answer is no it won't effect any Hardware.
take a screenshot of your specs, it should keep them intact after rebranding.

Hilarious... well as i recall since i would be changing my kernel, doesn't the allowed size of ram decrease? I had an xperia x8 back in the day and with a particular kernel, I had gained more ram!
Maybe it's a new model or a fake, I just got a second hand Chinese version and it is called CLT-AL00 not CLT-L00. And it comes with the standard 6gb of ram.
Download antutu benchmark and see if it recognise your model.
Secondary can you please point me in the right direction for rebranding the phone so it becomes an European version?
Thanks
No it is no fake. When the p20 pro got released i read a review with official huawei statment about the 8gb model. If i find it again i will post it here. It was a special edition like the rs porsche etc.

Huawei p30 pro vs oneplus 7 pro

Hi guys! I'm own a p30 pro 256gb Aurora for 3 weeks and after I saw oneplus 7 pro I have some thoughts to switch..
What u think? Is it worth or not?
What your opinion?
Thank you.
P30 Pro 256gb Aurora Power
Depends on what you want from a phone.
I wouldn't consider a swap myself, but this article details some of the major differences between them:
https://www.stuff.tv/features/oneplus-7-pro-vs-huawei-p30-pro-which-best
What is it you like about the 7 Pro that differs from P30 Pro? I don't see any benefits myself...
I saw a couple video reviews of the 7 pro and the audio quality seems really bad which puts me off. But then again the oneplus will have better root/rom support and has a better screen. I would miss the ultra fast charging of the P30 pro too much to make the switch.. But its preference really.
Does p30 pro supports hdr10+?

I'd hang fire a bit, P30 is awesome but seems like huawei released it 'unfinished'. I think it's true potential will only come to light after a few more updates. I hope so anyway, this was hella lotta cash to have some faulty stuff with it out the box; cartoon wobble issue from front facing cam, red tinge issue, shocking 4k stutter during video panning. Main things for me. However, have taken some of the best pics so far on a smartphone (tried most current flagships), 1080p is good enough and things are improving update by update. I also feel of all the gesture implementations (pixel 3,oplus etc.) huawei nailed it. Hopefully there will be further improvements, enough for me hold on a while yet. If your a root and rom lover op7 gonna tempt you over, won't be long before gcam gives it a boost too. Personally need a phone to work as intended, too much time wasted flashing and putting phone in a less capable state for the sake of some 'enhancement', 'feature'. But yeah, tempted as you maybe, definitely wait a bit, be hard to forgo this camera tech. Have a look into the USB method to get you up to. 153 already. Phone is super smooth after this. Await more cam improvements though. :good:
hi
any new opinions on this topic, I just broke my Honor View 10 and need to replace the phone, P30 pro or OP 7Pro have similar prices (used ones)
P30 pro have better battery life and camera (maybe), but OP 7Pro will have longer support but P30 is getting v2 because of all USA bullcrap and bans ( not sure what that can mean for older P30 and their updates)
P30 Pro is cheaper (used and can find one with 6GB instead of 8GB more expensive variant)
any suggesstions what to get?

P30 pro NE vs P30 pro 512gb

Hi All,
was looking at p40 pro, but really need all google services to work, so P30 pro NE or P30 pro 512gb, have already P30 pro 256gb, and is really, really great phone for everything. Anyone can give me advice, thinking NE should have longer life with updates and UFS 3.0..
Many thanks...
There's really not much of a difference between the P30 Pro and the P30 Pro NE. Would you actually benefit from 512GB?
If I didn't already have several new recent phones I'd be looking at the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro. I've had a Mi 8 Lite since release and it's a solid phone. I'm quite impressed with Xiaomi devices.
Really want another p30 pro, great battery life, camera, waterproof, solid phone, it just can't find review about NE model to compare with old one..
This should help:

Difference with " old " 512gb " which is mine, is only soft touch of the phone like p40 and color like p40, plus anti fingerprint on the case. Else, New p30 pro begins with 8gb ram on 128 and 256gb that's all.
But old 512gb has also 8gb so finally you can stay on the old one
Does anyone know if the p30 pro NE on Huawei website is single or dual sim. for the UK?

I do not know, but I hope is dual sim, as my present p30 pro, 512gb pay monthly deals just gone over roof so looks like I will go NE way, really love to try p40 pro but need GS to work reliably as using for work too.

Not really helpful, as there are no any reviews about NE version, no benchmarks results, no photos reviews, all on youtube are fakes, will be useful if anyone owning Ne version could share bench results and feedback, ufs 3.0 must be much faster as 2.1..

Hi guys I've just received my s21 ultra from sky mobile UK as I sent my other one back due to dust under the lenses to Samsung UK
But the one from sky I think is an import as the seal is different I'll post a pic
It's the first time I've had anything like that just asking if anyone else has had similar things and should it still function ect as a original UK veriant
Thanks

I got mine from Sky UK and didn't have this sticker on mine, but if it's the exynos version with UK firmware then it'll be exactly the same as mine.

Yeh it's the exynos veriant and build date is 1st August 2021 just seems strange it's obviously been opened and I think they have changed a few things like the booklets ext as looks different to the one I got from Samsung UK website
I'm hoping it's not a refurb or anything like that lol

Yeh comes up on the app as original to be fair the phone seems perfect just throw me off with a different seal and can tell the original ones have been broken
Been in touch with sky mobile and they assure me it's new and that it might be something to do with the whole Brexit thing thats gone on
Can I ask I had the s21 ultra off Samsung UK website which I got the 512gb 16gb version
I have the 256bg 12gb from sky as they didn't have the larger one is they no difference at all apart from the memory and ram? Are all the s21 ultras identical apart from this and obviously the exynos and snapdragon
Thanks
