So Hello guys, I've got a Mi5 from NIS-Store around a month ago.
It's working totally fine but... I've set up finger print and password protection but after testing it, I decide to remove it and then where all my problems with Mi5 come up.
When you get to the settings option and get to password, it simply shows a white blank screen and after few seconds, settings apk just crash.
I've find out that I'm running chinese seller rom or something like that. Found some tutorials on Xiaomi website how to flash the proper rom but non of them are working for me or I'm just to stupid for it (Never done anything on other phones then Sony :laugh.
It's running 7.2.8.0.0 (MAACNDB) Miui 7. Its defo not the global version even though it is said... I've tried flashing proper rom with both update apk on the phone and the MiSuite (far as I remember the name) and I couldn't done it.
Do You have any ideas how to get a proper rom on it ? I'm running out of ideas...
Other then that problem, phone itself is just amazing.
Unlock your device first. Then download official fastboot rom for your device. Flash it using miflasher
Thanks, waiting from Xiaomi for approval in order to unlock it. Any idea where can I get the Xiaomi phone with a proper official software? Would love to get another one but with proper software.

Check their website for fastboot-ready firmware.
I got my Mi5 from ibuygou.com and asked them to include the original ROM. They sent me a factory sealed Mi5 with the China ROM, which was what I wanted. I was able to unlock the bootloader and flash the global ROM in minutes.
Sent from my E6853 using Tapatalk
Before I start, will it erase all the media on the storage? Like apps, photos etc ?

systems > reset > reset all settings then reboot the phone , do not turn on artistic bokeh mode again
or you can upgrade fw to disable root . I found out that i dont really need root anymore

You should be able to just flash back stock RAMDISK.
Hello, I have the same issue, front cam just says loading when picture is taken. I am rooted as well. Were you able to resolve this?
I am on Mate 10 Pro
me too
yup me too, but with rear camera. Think .jpeg files are corrupted. Bought phone new from Vodafone 2 weeks ago. Not rooted. Did x2 full hard resets and it recurred. Vodafone did a "like for like" replacement on assumption it was due to faulty internal memory. (Its seems like the sort of thing that would happen if there was an SD care and the SD card was kaput). Hope prob doesnt come back. If does then suggests it wasnt a handset / hardware problem for me but rather a more general software issue ...
Ok so I have an issue I need help with. My kids deleted some photos. I can recover them with diskdigger, but of course it's only the thumbnail images. I read in order to get the originals I need root access. I can't get root access because I have a locked bootloader (I tried various root programs until I figured this out). Everything I read about rooting past a bootloader means flashing something and I will lose what I am trying to recover. Is this true or is this just a warning that this may happen? Is there any program or any way anyone knows around this problem so I can get to the original recovered photos and not just the thumbnail images? I have flashed tablets and phones before so I am comfortable doing so, but I fear in doing that it will not solve the original problem of trying to recover the photos. Any help is greatly appreciated! I will post the specs below, thanks.
Samsung S8
Verizon Wireless
No SD Storage / Internal Only
Bootloader Locked
No-Root

Other than paid profesionals disk digger is your best bet
Try to shut the device off asap if possible the files have been marked for deletion but still reside in memory addresses. Every second the device is on id more and more that have actually been wiped as new data gets wrote over those spots
Hi guys so I bought an unlocked phone from someone and after I did a factory reset I realized that the bootloader was unlocked. and when I tried to actually figure out how to flash a ROM that would help me fix the green tint on the screen ( i never figured out how) I realized that the ROM is custom. I tried to install Whatsapp and other apps and it wouldn't work. Please help me fix the phone so I'm not stuck with an unusable phone. The build installed is coral-userdebug 11 RQ1A.201205.....xxxxxx how do I fix this? Bonus points if I can install that degreenify thing with the app/ROM found on xda

Hey, this thread is for Google Pixel 1, that is Sailfish and you seem to have an Google Pixel 4 XL, that is a Coral. Use "https://developers.google.com/android/images" link to find the stock rom for your device along with the instructions to flash the same. Happy Flashing
Hi guys!
I have the redmi k20 pro premium china rom, but its currently stuck in a bootloop so I cant get past the booting-up screen nor can i use the fastboot feature.
However, I still really want to get my photos from the phone, I don't have any cloud services connected.
I was wondering if there was any way to retrieve the photos since to get out of a bootloop I need to factory reset which will delete the memory.
Im willing to tear apart the phone however I doubt that will do anything?
Thanks in advance!!
(I wrote this question in the normal thread but found out there's a k20 specific one.)

Hey
Depending on what you did if your bootloader is unlocked you can use Mi Flash Tool and flash the Fastboot ROM if you can get to there. Just make sure to select Save user data. If you can't get into Fastboot Mode it is possible to get the Phone working anyway on another way but everything will be deleted.

When you turn on your phone, is there a lock sign? If yes it's unlocked and if no I don't know what to do because unlocking bootloader needs erasing everything. Maybe you can go to a repair shop which gives you somehow the photos back.

To unlock the Bootloader, the owner has to do procedures...
install tools, register account on the Xiaomi side, request unlocking, wait 7 days...
If you bought the phone from Xiaomi (not a second hand or from a reseller) and you are not familiar with all the above, then your BL is for sure locked
In Fastboot, run the command and it will tell you if the BL is locked or not:
fastboot oem device-info

Yes, but like I said it'll delete everything and the phone needs to be working to associate a Xiaomi Account via Mobile Data.

Of course it will delete
But I said, if you IN THE PAST did not unlock Bootloader and did not buy it from a previous owner or reseller who did unlock, then the Bootloader is for sure locked since Xiaomi sells the phones with locked Bootloaders
Besides, if you cannot boot to the System, you cannot initiate now the procedure to unlock the Bootloader

Yes. I guess his photos are gone. Anyway I'd recommend for any rooted phone (I know his isn't) to use the Unlimited Google Photos Magisk Module.

Photos can be also automatically stored to Mi Account
But most simply, from time to time, connect the phone to PC by USB cable and copy /DCIM/Camera folder to the PC
No need for unlocking Bootloader, no need for cloud accounts, etc

Mi Cloud has 15 GB and Magisk Mod gives you unlimited. That's why I mentioned it. But without doing anything like that, you're right.
So theres no way to retrieve it if the boot loader is locked?
