I am trying to use Hey Google to trigger some Google Home actions while my screen is locked.
No matter what I do on the settings of Google Assistant, the phone always requires me to unlock the phone before carrying on the requested command ("Sure, but first you will have to unlock your device").
I believe that there should be several Hey Google results / actions that are available with a locked screen if personal results are enabled. So, is there a way to execute Home actions while the screen is locked?
As my plan B I tried to use Smart Lock so that the screen gets automatically unlocked when the smartphone is connected to a trusted bluetooth device. Nonetheless, I am still required to unlock my phone one first time after it connects to the bluetooth device, and after that the screen is no longer locked.
In this case is there a way to set Smart Lock in such a way that the screen does not require a first unlock using the pattern or fingerprint?

Hey guys, curious if anyone has found an app that can turn the screen off on the Droid Turbo without locking it. Here's what I ideally want:
I use a Motorola Keylink and a Pebble as Trusted Devices. When they are connected, I don't have to enter my unlock PIN.
I'd also like to be able to use 'Double Tap' in Nova launcher to turn off the screen. The problem is that every app I try turns off the screen and locks it, meaning I have to enter my PIN when I turn the screen on again, EVEN IF I have a trusted device connected.
So, is there anything that can turn off the screen without locking it as well?
I am rooted and have Tasker and Secure settings but can't find a solution in those apps.
Thanks!
EDIT: Found my answer! Secure settings, run command, "Input keyevent 6" for anyone who needs it
I have a T-Mobile S6 but flashed Cleanrom for ATT. I noticed that while using the fingerprint unlock method the screen will still require swipe to unlock. In other words, I have my phone set to lock 3 minutes after the screen turns off. Normally if I turned the phone back on before the phone actually locked it would just pick up where I left off but now with the ATT rom it will ask me to swipe to unlock when I turn the screen back on before the phone actually locks. Is there any way to remove this?
That's pretty weird. My AT&T phone doesn't do that.
Did you get anywhere with resolving this? I'm running stock AT&T, not rooted, and annoyed that I unlock with fingerprint and need to also, subsequently swipe.
I found the solution to what may be the same issue you're having - though I am running the stock T-Mobile rom.
You need to turn off all the smart unlock features - trusted locations, devices, etc. For some reason, with those enabled, unlocking (often, but not always?) requires a swipe and fingerprint - but without them it works as you would want/expect.
I think this may be an attempt to give us a lock screen when the device stays unlocked, but if you unlock it with the fingerprint when it is already unlocked, it doesn't bother to even try reading your print, so it misses that you did something that couldn't be in your pocket. Very annoying.
Does none of the smart lock tools actually work with this phone? The trusted places option worked perfectly on my OPO, but with this phone, I'm always asked to input my pattern or fingerprint when I'm at home. It's not an issue if I'm just turning on the phone because the fingerprint is super fast, but sometimes I like to open a notification right from the lock screen, but I can't do that if the smart lock isn't working...
I am running OOS 4.0.3 and I an confirm that Smart Lock is working.
I have set a trusted device via Bluetooth, in this particular case my Bluetooth module in my car.
Here's what happens and hopefully this is what you expect.
When I am outside of my house and walking to my car, my phone is locked and requires my fingerprint.
I turn on my car and my phone pairs with my car, which then enables the Smart Lock feature.
I then turn on my screen on my phone and I see a Lock Screen but it is slightly different. The lock symbol located at the bottom has a circle around it indicating that the phone only requires a swipe to go to my home screen. It does not require my fingerprint or pin/pattern.
No matter what you do the Lock Screen is present when Smart Lock is functioning. So far I am ok with this.
If you are looking to never see the Lock Screen when Smart Lock is functioning then I am not sure if you can do that.
There could be a way using Tasker for example IF Bluetooth is Connected to Car, set Screen Lock timeout to never and that might prevent the Lock Screen from appearing.
WE would have to test this and I am not sure if Tasker can change the Lock Screen timeout.
I hope this helps.

It seems the trusted location is very spotty for me at the moment. Sometimes it works and others it doesn't.
I've got a similar problem. The phone never unlocks when I'm at a trusted location. It unlocks when I'm connected to a trusted Bluetooth though. I've set the location using both my address and by using the Google Maps screen. Nothing works.
I'm using a OnePlus 3T with the regular operating system.
Same here. Trusted location only seems to work for a few hours after adding/resetting a location. After that, it is no longer recognized. I did see an issue brought up in the Pixel forums about this issue, but clearly it's not confined to that device. Here's a few threads about it:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...art-lock-trusted-places-doesnt-seem-work.html
Hopefully they are still looking into the issue and will release a fix as part of Android O whenever that comes to the 3/3T. Or maybe it's something that OP could look into, but I doubt we'll get that fixed in a timely manner either way...
I have the opposite problem. Phone will always unlock without prompting for fingerprint or code, regardless of being in a trusted location or not. It's pretty annoying.

Screen lock doesn't work.
Hi! My problem kinda different. My OP3T screen lock doesn't work. I tried to turn off smart lock. Changing the screen lock type, still doesn't work. Even with fingerprints. So anybody can open my phone by swiping it up. Did somebody have the same problem? Should i upload the video of it and link it?
So, coming from Nexus 6p and LG G6 both phones would unlock and wake phone even if smart lock was enabled and active. Is there a way to make the Note recognize my fingerprint to unlock and wake the phone even with smart lock enabled? Example: I have smart lock location set up for my house. If I pick up my phone at home all I have to do is swipe to unlock which works as attended, but with previous phones I could also use the fingerprint to unlock and wake the device. Is this possible with the N8?
Yes, you can also set up to 'hard press' the 'home button' bypassing the 'lockscreen.
To be more clear, you just need to hard press the area where the home button is, regardless of if the home icon/nav bar is there or not
Thanks!! Found it!

Accessing that area can be done on Samsung devices aswell. This is not a security flaw, that area is meant to be accessible from lock screen so if you need to turn flashlight on or similar things without needing to unlock your device.
But if you pick some of the buttons it will request you to unlock the device to do the action. Only some of the buttons can be used while on lock screen.
On Samsung if you touch WiFi, Bluetooth, mobile data and position tracking on lock screen it will then request you to unlock the device to be able to turn them off or on.
After checking my Asus Rog phone 2 I see what you mean now. It seems Asus didn't add such security, which they should.

yes asus keep every things accessible so if someone stole ur phone in 3 sec the phone will be in offline mode and lost for ever
in my Huawei they totally block using the above scroll bar and add some useful shortcuts on lock screen for flash and so on
You need to enter password to disable the data connection from the lock screen ...
