Hello,
I bought a second-hand pixel 5, after using it for a few days I wanted to reset it and I ran into an mdm lock, is there a solution?
thanks in advance
MDM meaning Mobile Device Manager?
Go to Settings > Security > Device Admin Apps, and disable whatever is in there. If that agent was still present after a factory reset I would highly recommend flashing a factory image with the Android Flash Tool, after you've enabled developer options and USB debugging.
Will try and repport, ty for the reply
Yeah it mean mobile device manager

just back at home, cant flashing a factory image cause of oem unlock is greyed and cant turn it on
Are you able to remove the MDM app?
Unfortunately, the ability to unlock the bootloader is set at ROM build time, so if you got a device that was sold to a particular enterprise, for example, they may have specified that ability to be disabled. That also may mean that the MDM app was baked into system, which means that a factory reset won't remove it.
Still....you can try rebooting to recovery and try to perform a factory reset there, although I suspect as I mentioned the MDM may actually be integral to the firmware.
yeah the app is bakeday firmware as you said, there are a bypass trick for android 11 but yesterday i got the ota and i m stuck on set up screen with a google authentification and no workaround to bypass this cheat

Sorry to hear that. That's why I'm very cautious about buying secondhand devices.

Please read this thread. If you buy an enterprise device, it will likely have an MDM app baked into the firmware that you cannot remove without root; unfortunately, root is not possible without unlocking the bootloader, and unlocking the bootloader is not possible if OEM unlocking is not allowed in the ROM.

What works? Your question isn't clear.
Again: If you bought an Enterprise device, it is likely that you will NOT be able to remove the MDM app or root the device - regardless of the Android version.

My phone with mdm was working good with "verizon cell unlock" method (via adb) on Android 11.
For Android 12 that method is not working
I searching for another solution.
Now I removed com.android.vending (play market). Without play market device working well, but...no market.

By "unlock" do you mean bootloader unlock, or carrier unlock?

MDM lock. Phone has "MobileIron" integration. When i connect to intternet - "Your device controls by admin, all data will be wiped in 2 hrs". Cell also unlocked. Bootloader inactive and locked.
But cell unlock method was working for it (with android 11). For android 12 - not

It is an enterprise device - meaning, as I've pointed out, that the MDM app is integral with the firmware. This, coupled with the fact you cannot unlock the bootloader, severely limits what you can do with the device.
If you're specifically asking about carrier unlock to use it on a different carrier, that is a different topic that needs it own thread. Please do not hijack threads with off topic comments.

Help me understand. What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
I just bought a used Pixel 5 and encountered an MDM lock. Phone was functioning fine on A11 but after upgrading to A12, the following message pops up and won't let me continue using the device:
"Your device controls by admin, all data will be wiped in 2 hours".
Resetting my device doesn't help, the same error comes back during Android setup.
The good news is that after contacting the seller they assured me that they will contact the original enterprise owner and that MDM unlocking can easily be done remotely. Bad news is that I'm assuming even after MDM unlock the bootloader will remain locked since this device obviously didn't come from Google directly. But fingers crossed.

I don't think you can downgrade your bootloader, I think the only way is to install the next developer preview bootloader and then you would be able to downgrade it to an earlier version
CF autoroot has bootloader unlock option. worked for me when I had to unlock my bootloader after nougat OTA update in order to root.

does booting into fastboot and type fastboot oem unlock not work?

He has a N6 where he's locked out of the device and unable to activate it. Either he forgot the email addy and password he used to activate it, or he purchased a phone from someone else and got locked out because that someone else didn't remove their account from the device prior to selling.
In any event, his legit options are to try and remember the email and password used, or to try and get the seller to remove their account from the phone. Otherwise he'll have to try and bypass the FRP.

@bombonel: With Factory Reset Protection in play you must know the email address and password used on the phone in order to progress in the setup. Entering into the bootloader in the phone's current state and attempting to unlock the bootloader using fastboot will not work. Unless you can get into Android and toggle the Enable OEM Unlock option in the hidden Developer Options menu you will not be able to unlock the bootloader.
Your available options are as follows.
You need to know the email and password used on the device.
If the device was purchased used from another person, you need to contact that person and have them remove the device from their account.
You need to start looking at methods of bypassing Factory Reset Protection.

I talked to the person from whom I bought the phone arrived in this State, the person from whom I got did not know how long does factory reset after 5 minutes of thought got stuck and enter to recovery ans wipe data and cache wipe, having the account and all saved and knowing that the first boot takes thought and got stuck and to give it to me , started that night fix to change the password to your gmail account and deleted and sync and all of his account and the phone became useless. Because it communicates with google server over the internet, but only synchronized with the old account and no password only, and tried to contact the folks at google and with whom you can, but make no result if the wrong person irreparably.
When buying from ebay dead phone it might be either password, fingerprint or even Google locked (not sure what the last one means).
Would I be able to use it after fixing the screen and hard reset?
Older Androids at least up to 4.4.2 upon the hard reset simply eraze all data and let you use the phone.
What is the situation with Android 5, 6 and 7?

Be careful if the reactivation lock is on from settings you won't be able to use or flash anything no matter if it's on android 4,5, or 6.
Even if you do hard reset when setup the device it will ask for samsung account password.
You must have device owner password to unlock the reactivation lock.
Thanks!

Hello everyone.
I Just bought a SH (actually 3rd hand at least) Pixel 4XL phone.
Upon powering up, one can see that the "Device is managed", and in order to change this, I should contact "[email protected]".
I saw people trying to do that, but it does not work.
Do you have any experience with this?
Will Google unlock my phone?
Or if not, am I able to just "wipe" it somehow and use it afterwards? Or is it IMEI related and will always be an issue once connected to the internet?
Thank you!
Per your PM:
I do have Pixel 4XL that is managed by google (tech stop).
I am able to unlock the bootloader, as I was able to downgrade from Android 12 to Android 11, but I still get the set up for work stuff.
I heard that there is something that can be done if you are on Android 11 in order to bypass the google account stuff.
Do you have any suggestion for me or do you thing there is anything that I can do myself?
Thanks a lot!

If you are able to unlock the bootloader, the only thing you should have to do is flash the factory image with a full wipe.

No, Google will not unlock the phone. The IMEI is blacklisted and even if it were able to be unlocked, you cannot flash it away.
i ordered a X30 pro with CN ROM but the seller sent one with GLOBAL ROM installed . He agreed to revert from Global ROM to CN ROM but said that relocking the device would damage the phone.
I want to know if i revert the Bootloader unlocked phone to CN ROM , will i be able to use Netflix,Google Services and OTA updates?
Is there something i am missing out compared to the Bootloader Locked device with CN ROM?
I have an option to legally force him to replace the device, but it will be a loss for the local seller who procured it from china and i dont want to impact the poor guy's profits if there is no major feature i will be missing out.
Device can be returned to CN and relocked safely. As I am dumb enough not to notice that people repeatedly use my work to further grow their business I am not gonna post a link to the guide.
However: If you receive a Frankenstein device that was converted to global and then locked you can not unlock it again on your own and need people with the proper tools and edl mode probably.
The cleanest way is to receive an original device and then do the work yourself. You'll learn and you will only have yourself to blame if things go wrong.
Netflix, google service and ota's are all working on my relocked phone. Can not say how far Netflix is working but it does start (which it refused to do on global firmware)
@Killuminati91 RSA tool said my device is out of warranty I think he perceives the situation, but what he perceives is this: The situation i noticed in a few videos i watched on Youtube; Those who use this software box, that is, the software developers who made my device, take the device from fastboot mode to a so-called "factory mode" in order to write global software or imei change to Motorola devices, and do the operations that way. That mode also does not require the unlocked bootloader to perform these operations. In Factory mode, the screen is black, nothing is visible, but the box continues to perform operations Very interesting...

Yeah that is EDL mode if im not mistaken. You can force it by bridging pins on the motherboard, but there must be other options to boot into it. (Xiaomi supported a certain USB cable that bridged the pins basically for a few devices). Its like a really low level flash mode.
@ragz85: I think netflix wont work with an open bootloader but I never did any research about it. There might be magisk modules that can fix it.
If your bootloader is open you bascially NEED root / magisk to fix problems like online banking, google certification and safetynet.
Root on the other hand seems to disable OTA updates. Not too sure because I am certain that I received an update after converting to RETEU with an unlocked bootloader but didnt get any more OTAs after that.
@iron maiden: The guy who fixed your phone might be able to do it. No other ideas here.

I assume you already have the answers to your questions... I'll still leave it here for anyone who might be interested:
1 With unlocked bootloader, no matter the ROM version (EU, BR, CN) you will NOT have Netflix, HBOMax, or Disney (the ones I tested).
2 It is possible YES to lock the Bootloader again. With that you have Streaming services and you can use almost everything from Google. Except Assistant(OK Google) and Android Auto.
To carry out the Block follow https://rentry.org/edge30ultra-relock even without the backup (because I acquired it already unlocked) I managed.

Yes friend, you can go to lolinet website go to the folder (EQS CN) download the oldest version (the first of the three from top to bottom) unzip open the file flashfile.xml with notepad (Or the one you prefer) copy everything and paste it on the site that will general the codes (the link is on the site I posted above) have magisk installed and saftnetyfix module (Install to enable OEM unlock in developer ) enabled uninstall magisk (by magisk itself ) format device and enable USB debugging, in bootloader Connect to the PC open CMD in the ROM folder and change the channel to retcn then copy all the codes from the website and paste in CMD and wait when finished restart the device configure (or skip) and activate USB debugging And connect to Lenovo Recue it should recognize your device and it will download the latest ROM follow the steps until restart installed skip and enable USB debugging open CMD and lock with Fastboot oem Lock You will have EVERYTHING working, Banks, Google play, FHD streaming (except Android auto and Ok Google)

Its not supposed to be possible, yet on the latest Android 13 update, my OEM unlock toggle suddenly became switchable after freezing a bunch of carrier apps. The only thing I didn't freeze was Sim tool kit and work config. I've literally done this over and over again with no results, in fact my phone was never even paid off. Yet for some reason, suddenly I was able to just toggle the switch unlock my bootloader and my device which is pretty much unheard of since the pixel 3

If there are any software to unlock oem? or any other solution based on my problem?
PS: its running on android 13, with May 5, 2023 security update. the IMEI ends with 18292

Insert a SIM card in your device and determine if it's locked to a carrier.
If it's a Verizon SIM lock, :/ outta of luck. Found that out the hard way via looking at XDA forums and nearly wasting time on the device. I plan to sell it to get a Google Pixel 6 Pro.
