Useless poll. Battery life can be different for different people even if they use same old battery. If you're trying to calculate average battery life from this poll, even that data will be useless for an individual as his usage pattern is different.

for now sot in not good... 5/6h... miui global 12.5.4 stabile
is the same of note5pro with aosp arrow11 + panda kernel uv...
after few days i retry with aosp on note10 pro.. i'm waiting unlock...

More than 9 hours of screen usage until reach 14% left.
Arrow OS 11 + Epsilon+ kernel + Greenify + Helix Engine + Ex Kernel.

I get around 7.5-8 hours with 20% remaining over 24-30hr period. Running xiaomi.eu ROM with 120hz and around 55% brightness.

I'm getting a poor 6 hours on DotOs 5.2 which is disappointing as I was getting 10 hours on CrDroid. I may switch back

Latest Lineage OS, SOT 5 hours - 32% after last restart, Deep Sleep 3.5 hours, Screen OFF awake 1 hour, all together 9.5 hours.
Using ACC (Advanced Charging Controller) and I'm charging the phone up to 80% charging the battery for 50 seconds + 5 seconds cooldown intervals.

For those that aren't used to tweaking the kernel parameters manually using init.d scripts, here's LSpeed for better battery life.

Here are some tips to improve standby time by hibernating background apps using the Greenify app
How to Optimize Your Android Phone’s Battery Life with Greenify
At this point, smartphones are prolific. We use them for calls, text messages, social networking, photos, quick searches, streaming music, watching videos…the list goes on. But each thing you do drains your battery life, and some apps will even continue to drain your battery in the background...

I charged it two days ago to 100:

Obviously, as you can see, there is few usage of the display.
But in these two days I made a lot of traditional callings as well Telegram chats with file uploading on Wi-Fi as well on data (4G).
The overnight discharging can go from 1% to 4%.

Possible tweak/script/tasker task to conserve battery while on screen off

Hi everyone,
I have experimented on some commands that i then integrated to my tasker that might help me conserve battery life.
btw, my inspiration to doing this is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61994046&postcount=350
In the link above, a user named aziz07 (btw, thanks) was suggesting an app that will put some cores of our ZF2 to offline when screen is OFF. however, the app isn't free, well, at least the updated version of the app. So I've decided to emulate this using tasker, see below...
PROFILE:
Name: CPU Sleep
Trigger: STATE > Display State Off
Task: named CPU OFF
1. Run shell command echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/online
2. Run shell command echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/online
3. Run shell command echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/online
Exit Task: named CPU ON
1. Run shell command echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/online
2. Run shell command echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/online
3. Run shell command echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/online
You need ROOT to achieve this.
Anyway, i've been on this config for the past 3 hours and so far it is working, as seen in 3C toolbox
UPDATE:
1. Observations
1.1. Shutting the 3 cores causes lag during the first few seconds on screen on, so launching apps in gestures sure is laggy. i.e. camera.
1.2. Downloading while screen off(3 cores offline) actually slows down the download process by more than five times the usual speed when all cores are online.
1.3.Once I've turned on the cores again, the cores speed are no longer underclocked(that is if you set it to boot in underclocked mode), hence i needed to issue more commands to revert it to my underclocked mode.
2. Current setup
1.1. This doesn't cause any lag
1.2. download speed while screen on or screen off are the same
1.3. it will reset all cores to my desired underclocked setup.
NOTE: I am using 2.3Ghz with 64GB model.
PROFILE:
Name: On Boot ****(This will set max speed for all cores to 1.5Ghz)
Trigger: EVENT > Device Boot
Task: named Cpu Scalling
1. echo interactive > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
2. echo 1500000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
3. echo interactive > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor
4. echo 1500000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
5. echo interactive > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/scaling_governor
6. echo 1500000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
7. echo interactive > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_governor
8. echo 1500000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
Name: CPU Sleep
Trigger: STATE > Display State Off
Task: named CPU OFF ****(This will set max speed of remaining cores to 833MHz)
1. Run shell command echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/online
2. Run shell command echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/online
3. echo 833000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
4. echo 833000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
Exit Task: named CPU ON ****(This will set max speed for all cores to 1.5Ghz)
1. Run shell command echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/online
2. Run shell command echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/online

9. echo interactive > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_governor
10. echo 1500000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
I didn't even know that our cpu cores weren't going offline. Thanks for the tip and info. Will give it a go as well.
Well i think in screen off, it will be in deep sleep and not going to consume battery
And second i did this with the hope it will increase screen on time, turned off 2 cores for 2 to 3 days and no use it gave battery life as same as 4 cores battery life and screen on time...
lols The app is 1,86$ but anyway, I see that the cores stay in sleep mode even after screen is on. The app is not working properly so I contacted and donated some funds to its maker.

Well, I have doubts as well that's why i stated might, but I'll observe for the meantime. btw, in sleepmode, are the cores offline or just running on very low frequency?

yup. I saw from its reviews that it doesn't work on other device that is why i resorted to this. You are blessed that you can donate.
I am a student on financial aid so I can affort the 1.86$ app + 5$ voluntary donation Waiting for the developer's reply ; Maybe a new governor will surface
Its actually Illegal what you just did , you took his idea/script and post it here saying its now free without posting his OP? I linked his OP thread in my beforehand post that you did not quote here either. If you can't afford 1.86$, how come you are using a pc with internet and I guess living somewhere?
You should link his OP and contact him 1st, otherwise a mod will delete this thread. His app is actually better since you don't need Tasker or any other app in the background

I didn't do anything illegal because i never took any script from anyone. its a simple linux command that is publicly available. Google it if you must. I just automated it using tasker that i purchased.
anyways, i don't mean to disrespect you financial student, but please refrain from accusing people. here it is called slander. and guess what? it can put you behind bars.
by the way, did i say i cannot afford to pay for it? Why do you have so many assumptions?

Whats those words then? You can donate any mount you can, e.g. 1$. The rest is on the mods.

simple really... it just tells you that... you are blessed. that's actually a positive thing that you view differently.
yup. the mods have all the right to put this thread down if they found that I've stolen any code/script from someone.
It's been a few years since I've used it but I'm pretty sure you can set up a profile in 3c toolbox's device manager to achieve this. There are probably a lot of other kernel control apps that can achieve similar.
On the other hand I might be completely wrong

Hmm, how, I have looked in dev manager but nothing about turning off the cores ? I have tried tons of battery apps e.g. DS Battery and nothing really turned off the cores.
It would be awesome if it was in 3C Tool box Pro since I already have it and don't want lots of apps at boot.
use kernel auditor and u can untick or tick cores..

There must be a better way like integrating a new governor or something in the Kernel. I use 400Kb no frill CPU changer, it auto close at boot after doing its job. I don't like heavy double function background apps. Kernel Adiutor and Trick kept running in background.

The app works. I can't vouch for the script version, but the paid app on Google Play turns off the cores. https://dl.pushbulletusercontent.co...sMepy1yzDO/Screenshot_2015-07-23-06-53-38.png Cores went offline automatically, I never turned them off.

I have tried this but it will keep 3 cores off even when screen is on. Did you try to check with 3C Toolbox if cores came back online after screen wakeup?
@ansebovi, both apps will run in backgound, check in app manager. They come back after I kill them. No-frill app will autoclose after boot just like 3C Toolbox. Changing CPU governors result in freezing in 3C Toolbox, that is why I use no-frill CPU changer.
Thanks
I tried the tasker version last night. It works but for whatever reason my core 3 doesn't seem to be waking anymore. Will try to find cause.

[HELP] Disabling peeking/heads up notification when running certain apps in Nougat

Hi, can anyone assist on how I could configure Tasker to disable peeking/heads up notification on a couple of apps (i.e. whatsapp, Line, hangouts, etc) when running a certain app (i.e. when I am playing a certain game full screen) on Nougat?
I used to be able to disable peeking for them individually without silencing the notifications on Marshmallow but ever since the update to Nougat, for some reason I can only enable "show silently" which disables peeking, vibration and muting the notifications all at once.
Now of course I would still want notification sounds when the message comes in but since it is impossible now, I would hope if someone can help me with getting tasker to activate "show silently" permissions on a couple of apps when I run a certain app (Vainglory in my case) as I wouldn't want the heads up notifications to pop up suddenly as I am in the game which if I clicked on them by accident, I would get kicked out of the game hence prompting me to rejoin my match.
Ofcourse, I'd like for tasker to deactivate "show silently" for those apps once more whenever I close/exit the game.
Thanks in advance.
I have profile to just Disable Head up notification for all apps. When I open some games in fullscreen and Enable Head up notification when exit app.
I can't find any option for an individual app yet.
If this is what you want I can help you out.
Cheers.

Alright then.
Here we go.
The plugin you need is AutoTools if you don't want to use a plugin you can use Run Shell as Root as well (but it'll not work as good as using AutoTools will have some delay before it apply.)
1st option: Using AutoTools Plugin
Create New Task for DisablePeek/Head Up Notification
Code:
Plugin > AutoTools > Secure Settings > Pen icon for edit
Custom Settings
Setting Type: global
Name: heads_up_notifications_enabled

[APP] 'Custom Navigation Bar' - add additional icons to your N8 Nav Bar

I found this Custom Navigation Bar app developed by paphonb on a different XDA thread - but it works perfectly on the Note 8. The app can be downloaded from the Play Store here
Using this app you can add up to 2 additional icons to the Navigation bar (one on the far left and the other on the far right) each with a tap or double-tap action that can launch apps or a tasker event. It works fantastically on my N8 with no lag whatsoever, and I now have 4 actions that I can easily access from any screen.

Features
- Add custom buttons to your navigation bar
- Customizable navbar layout
- Tasker integration for contextual navbar
- Easy to setup
- No root or xposed required
Compatibility
- May not work on Touchwiz launcher. (I use Lightning Launcher and it works fine)
I set mine up as follows:
Left
- Single tap: launch a dictionary
- Double tap: mute sound
Right side
- Single tap: toggle screen auto-rotate
- Double tap: kill current app
Tutorials
There are tutorials on how to set up the icons scattered throughout the 58 pages of the original thread. I have summarized them all here in one place
[Credit to Mishaal Rahman and dariomrk for writing these]
Requirements for launching Tasker Events
- Tasker ($2.99)
- AutoInput Beta (v2.0.5b.bf) (~$1.70)
1. Instructions for triggering a Tasker event
1. Configure a custom button as you would, but this time, set button type to "Tasker event" instead of "Keycode".
2. Open tasker and press add in profiles tab
3. Select "Event"
4. Select Plugin -> Custom Navigation Bar
5. Click on pencil icon to edit event
6. Select the profile you have the button set up. If you set up the button you want in "Navigation bar" section of the app, select "None"
7. Select the button that you have set up. If the option is greyed out, check if you done step 1 correctly
8. Save the event and add an action for that tasker profile.
Note:
When pressing the button first time, if a dialog pops up, select "Custom Navigation Bar" and press "Always"
2. Instructions to change the buttons to keyboard cursors whenever the keyboard is displayed
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-...ard-cursors-to-the-nav-bar-during-text-input/
** I find this one really useful as do not normally have these showing on my Swiftkey keyboard.
3. Instructions to change the buttons to media playback controls when playing Music
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-add-media-playback-controls-to-the-nav-bar-when-playing-music/
4. Detailed Instructions for setting up the Custom Navigation Bar
Firstly you will need:
- A PC with adb and fastboot installed; (Refer to this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979 for how to install these);
After you have adb set up, open up a CMD window and type:
Code:

Found another great app Home Button Launcher that lets you remap the long press on the Note 8 Home key so it doesn't launch Google Assistant (which I never use).
It can either automatically launch a different app or a shortcut - or show a popup panel of apps/shortcuts:
I used to use All in one Gestures to do this - but that does not work on soft keys.

@kiwiguy99 Thanks for the posts!
What app are you using for the 'Quick Settings' style pull up bar at the bottom of your screen? Well I am assuming that is what it is lol.

Oh Hahahaha! Never used it!
That is one huge button to activate it though.
Thanks!
Nice find and directions! I use both Tasker and Lightning Launcher as well. Installation went quickly and I like the options to double-tap for more. Thank you!

Do not run ADB SHELL by itself before running that command.
There's no need for 2 adb shell commands. Easier to just do the adb shell pm grant **** in one line.

Thanks for letting me know! Have updated OP and fixed the URL.
I can not for the life of me get ADB to see my device as ONLINE. I've tried everything I can think of (restarting device, adb server, toggling USB debugging on & off, different USB ports, etc). I really hope one of ya'll has an idea I haven't tried or maybe has ran through this already. What am I missing?
Rooted snap dragon here could not get this working. Any ideas?

I suppose I may have been a little too cryptic in my previous response. Here's some clarification:
The original instructions basically said to open a command prompt then run...
Code:
cd "Program Files(x86)\adb"
adb shell
adb shell pm grant xyz.paphonb.systemuituner android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
You would of course need to replace [highlight]"Program Files (x86)\adb"[/highlight] with the location where you installed ADB, if it is different.
The [highlight]adb shell[/highlight] line is unnecessary and will in fact cause the next line to fail. That is the piece I was hinting to skip to in my previous post.
Alternatively, this sequence will also work...
Code:
cd "Program Files(x86)\adb"
adb shell
pm grant xyz.paphonb.systemuituner android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Thanks Shadowpheonix! OP updated to reflect your better instructions.
So my navnar buttons are now out of alignment... tried uninstalling the app, but nothing happened even after reboot... how do I get the buttons to their original place? I'm really annoyed. I tried the options in the app to switch positions but they just mess them up even more...

[Guide] Notification FIX - Works 100%

So if you are having issues with notifications not coming in or coming in late this is finally how to fix it 100% on every app. It seems to have a very slight impact on battery but nothing major. From what I saw it was about 1% per hour drain... Which is worth it for a working phone
Anyways, the way to fix this requires it to be set from a computer on every restart of the phone which is probably the biggest problem with this method. I'm working on a way to maybe have a script run at every start up to fix the issue. Which will probably require root. We'll see...
1. Download and install the ADB drivers - Follow the guide here: https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
2. Once you have ADB installed and enabled on your phone like the guide says in step 1 above, you want to be on the ADB command prompt...
Type in the command:
Code:
adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable
The command prompt should return with:
Code:
Deep idle mode disabled
Light idle mode disabled
That's it! Now your notifications will work fine. I've tested this for a day and every notification came through on time.
Just like to add that I have adaptive battery off, and every app is set to optimize. Not sure if this makes a difference or not.
Again this must be applied on every restart (which sucks) but at least it's something, for now.

What he likely meant is more specifically what applications are you having issues with. Through extended idle I'll admit OOS kills every background task, but using the Oneplus messaging app and normal google applications I'm no longer getting late notifications like I was on my Oneplus 3. There is another setting that showed up under my notifications this morning that basically detected that I had gone to sleep and put all applications on hold until I woke up, though I cannot find this setting after clicking that notification this morning.

Yeah exactly the problem, doesn't matter what app... It's random... Follow my post it'll fix it
It's a general android issue with how doze mode works. This disables doze mode. Should work on any phone honestly.
I'll try it tomorrow and run a few tests to see how it works

Or, you could just turn off adaptive battery.

You can create a script with the command on SManager "Root required", set script on boot. I will run the command above at every boot.
Can you please explain how to use it with this app?
Edit: Found this and it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O15lBZ-0mwM
Also, will disabling doze have a massive impact on battery life?

I don't notice any hit in the battery. About 1% a hr. All notifications are coming in as they should though.
Okay, thanks., So far I'm happy with it.

Weird, since adaptive battery's description states that it's the reason why you might get late notifications and it's supposed to fix itself with time as the OS learns your app usage habits. Anyways, you might be right.
Is this an issue only on 6T?
As this is Pie related, no.
Tested on a Mate 20 Pro and Pie is not killing the apps in the background. Huawei have the option to select Doze - per application (Apps/Special Access/Battery Optimisation).
Then it's because of changed made by Huawei. AFAIK this is a general (Stock-)Pie issue.

Question ADB dexpot fix battery drain

does anyone read or try this , for bettter battery:
The Instructions
First off, we need to check if our device can be seen by ADB properly, for that, we need to type in “adb devices“.
Then, type in “adb shell cmd package bg-dexopt-job“
Or type in “adb shell “cmd package bg-dexopt-job”“
Reboot your device.
Keep in mind that this optimization service takes up to 20 minutes to 3 hours, patience is needed for this operation.
I try , when I trype ADB devices , I got that my device attached..
but when I type this other command , I got error , device not found...

That wouldn't fix battery drain, seems to be an urban myth type thing. If it did anything to better battery life it will be scheduled already to run itself, and probably is.
You need to identify what battery drain you have:
1) Is the battery drain fast when you are not using the phone?
2) Is it draining fast when you are using it?
Hi to everyone,
3 weeks ago I bought Xiaomi 11T Pro, since the begging i have problem of battery drain, seem that mainly is when i don't use the device.
I tried many things:
- Dark mode ON
- Refresh rate of the screen 60Hz
- Brightness of the screen set to manual at minimum
- MIUI battery optimization ON
- I limit the activity in background for the app that i use not often
- Disable the synchronization of Google Calendar, Gmail (this is something that i hate)
I tried also to disable the battery optimization from MIUI, i tried the command "ADB" above.
I don't know what else do, i'm seriously thinking to return the phone and take another one.
Some one, as suggestions.
Thanks.
