About me! - Introductions

So. I just recently started getting back into technology. Finally have a Zephyr 14, the first competent computer I've owned in.. 5 years? And a tablet, and a cell phone. I want to create my own brand of cell phone one day, and this is the first step to learning everything I can towards that.

Welcome to XDA!
Would be really cool to have a non big corporation mobile brand, as all this started.
Enjoy!

Soon to be NC owner.

Just wanted to say "Hi".
After owning a EVO for a month I happened to enjoy android for a bit, but not to the point of wanting a Android Phone. (I am a Win Mobile user at heart and soon to be a Win Phone 7 User once Sprint gets the 7 Pro) A Android Tablet on the other hand, that I would enjoy so I can learn more of the in's and out's. Looking around I see the NC has taken off as rat as root and soon to come custom roms are concerned so I made the plunge and ordered one up. (Now still says shipping today, but has yet to do so Grr..)
As soon as it finally shows up I will be tinkering and rooting the heck out of it to make it do things It was never fully intended to do. (along with probably picking up a few books to actually read again.. Hmm)
Anyway look to see some of you around.

[Q] The time after 4.2

Hey there,
I'm thinking about my last weeks with my O2x, my Nexus4 is already ordered.
But what will be after CM10/4.2, is there anybody who will use this phone after 4.2
Is there anybody who will create Android 5.0 for this (stupid) phone?
What do you think?
I suppose that me and many other people will use it till it works. If it will work next 30 years, i will probably use O2x for next 30 years.
Yop, I think I will buy next phone in 2014. O2X works, still 2 cores are enough.
N4 looks good, but not for 500€.
yes of course i also use my phone for 30 years if needed, i'll only a buy new android if i seen a smartphone that will satisfy my needs

In germany the Nexus 4 is cheap, so I will buy it from the market for 349€. :silly::silly:
I am so glad if have my new phone, the LGOS is a mess...
for me,its time to try new OS.i am w8ing lumia 920 to be available in mine country.I'am tired of lags, slowness, flashing roms... and all about Android seems to be. There is lags 2 in top models like S3 with pr.butter so... android still need a lots of improvement in terms of smoothness,bugs....
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
I will use it of course, hoping it will became better every day with new roms! (as it is happening)
havent you learned....
history repeats itself..... there will always be software faster than hardware.......
unless you want to buy a new piece of hardware every 2 months.
Ordered my N4 for 350€ in germany, but I still love my 02x and I will give this phone to my mom because its good... For a normal user like my mom this phone is great with ics.

I am on the same opinion
10 years average, as long as it dont get wrecked or broken. i'll have it for a long time. new phone will come when i need it, not when i want it =P
4.0.4 is good enough for me.
I guess I'll keep using the O2X until it doesn't work anymore.

My thoughts exactly.
As for the OP's question re: Android 5, might as well think about v.10 or whatever, it would be as (ir)relevant... I am pretty positive v.4.x will be the last for this phone, but I don't care, as long as it works. Even earlier this year I was still using Treo 680 with PalmOS 5. Great phone; the only thing that sucked on it was the internet access, hence my move to Android...

the two phones before this one, was a O2 Xda (Qtec 2020), and a Nokia 7110 i bought 2 extra batteries for each phone over the years to keep them going, and except for a bit of a clean, they are both in pretty excellent condition. i thought i'd get with the times and buy a decent phone.
and i went for something i thought was build very well, with lots of ways to customize, with many possible configs, soon after getting it, i was on the same wagon as the auto reboots and other problems that LG dug themselves with updates. but i'm happy with my purchase. its been worth the cost. and the outcome after the amazing help from the devs here my phone is F*cking awesome. my younger brother has a S3 and its a very pretty phone, i've done my work on it rooting it and moding it for him. and i do like it. but i see my phone as something that works and does not need replacing any time soon.
I am happy if I get my Nexus 4.
My o2x broke with ICS four times, and I must reinstall all apps.
Really annoying if you need your phone for your job.
I'm really really curious about the Nexus 4, will be my second Christmas if it arrives in January.

the average user, a very common

I saw on an Italian forum (androidworld.it) a thread really fun and special.
practically everyone was telling a story divertende spent with a few friends.
this is an example: long ago a friend of mine bought a galaxy ace, did nothing but talk about how it was "powerful" and fast. Once I asked him why he had not bought a galaxy if he said "That ca * ata? do not even have the processor!" a few months after they stole him and took a replacement for galaxy w. One day he told me he did not like, which was slow etc.etc. then, seeing my old modded Vodafone Smart, asked me how I did and so I talked to him a little bit of root, overclock, and more. Two days later comes back with 'I'm w galaxy where he had installed go launcher and a theme to nokia, the beautiful thing is that then I said, "I have labored hours to change the operating system, I put one of my old nokia. While doing transfer system I almost risked twice to break it ... "At that moment I did not know whether to laugh in his face or jump out the nearest window.
Another time a friend of mine came up to me all happy and told me "I bought the smartphone, the new advertising there." However I wanted to spare me tell you that there is no difference between a smartphone and a lg tribe
Oh, and in any case I think the best average users are over 45 and parents (trollface96);

in other words you treat stupid and embarrassing situations that make us entertained.
possibly write real stories and not false and try not to insult anyone.

Ahahahah epic
today i had a stupid moment of myself. i received a HTC M8x(asian variant) to root it for a friend. I did everything and proceeded to flash a custom kernel. when it finished the screen went black. holding power button did nothing and connecting to charger didnt budge it. for 30mins i was panicking and trying to revive it. so i tried turning it on after 30mins so i pressed the power button to see id it does anything.... and it turned on and it was still in recovery. the lock feature from TWRP made a fool of me, thinking that i bricked it lol.

A couple weeks ago I was fixing a cracked screen on my friends phone. I had to drive quite far to get the part and when I had just replaced the screen and started replacing all the other components (the screen is under everything), I managed to pinch a ribbon cable and rip it off. This was only a few hours before I wanted to surprise him with the fixed phone. I ended up going in rush hour traffic to a closer more expensive shop to get another replacement and fixing the phone with only a few minutes before I had to go meet my friend. Overall he was happy I fixed it but I don't think he'll ever know how much trouble it was to do.

New S5 Owner

Hello gents, and ladies.
Before I got the S5, I started off with the S4. Was really happy switching to Android after owning the iPhone 4S for 3 years. I pretty much got tired of it, even when it was Jailbroken. After I saw the S4, I jumped on it.
Took me a week to get used to the S4. Finally got used to it and rooted the phone. After the 4.4.2 update was released, it started acting up. SIM card was unable to read and after a couple of restarts, it would work again. Then one day, the phone stopped reading the card and was unable to get it working again. I thought I needed a new card, so I had it replaced for free since it also wasn't working. The same night, I went to a drive in, and wanted to check the time on my phone, then find out the screen cracked :/.
So I went back to the AT&T store and picked up the S5. I love how fast the phone is and battery life is unbelievable. I even have it rooted thanks to the person that made it really simple to do. Hopefully one day I can do something productive and help around here. Till then, have a great weekend and a Happy 4th of July.

Enjoy your s5 man. I think we can all say that we love ours.
Glad you're enjoying your s5
There are many other people making the switch as well, which is being discussed in this thread. I'll close this one so you can further discuss with everyone in that thread on the same topic.

Back Again!!

Hello all. I have worked as a Network Engineer for a "Top 5" wireless company for more than 17 years. That being the case, i have not done much with a phone ( other than make calls ). I had an account here before but, LIFE got in the way of my hobbies. I am a tinkerer and love tech in general. Here to play and learn something new, in the process.
