[badmania98] Huawei P40 (Lite, Pro, Plus) Guides, News, Discussion & Support - Huawei P40 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello!
Because I answered to the same questions on different threads, I decided to create this thread, where I will provide my experience to you, in one place.
The followings messages (2-7) contain all major info and tutorials links from this thread.
All solutions/tutorials are related to the EMUI version that is installed on your phone. Before you start using this phone and upgrade/downgrade the firmware, I suggest you to read this message and after that you can continue reading the thread.
I am waiting for your questions. I hope that I can help. I will not answer again if I already answered and you haven't read first 7 messages of this thread. I don't like people who are more lazy than I am.
My Phone: P40 Pro C432 EMUI12, push notification fix installed.
Best regards,
Daniel
LE: My support on XDA is free of charge. I will provide/mention free solutions. If you find something interesting on my messages you can provide a Like.
On PM/Telegram I could provide different solutions that could be not free of charge.

Downgrade
IF YOU HAVE GMS ERRORS
DO NOT RESET THE PHONE TO FACTORY SETTINGS AND DO NOT MAKE EMUI DOWNGRADE
!!!! 20230520: ALL DOWNGRADES FOR ALL DEVICES/REGIONS ARE UP SIDE DOWN DUE TO HUAWEI PROTECTION MEASURES. IT IS DIFFICULT TO MANAGE THE SITUATION NOW. FOR SOME DEVICES I HAVE A SOLUTION, BUT I DONT KNOW HOW MUCH TIME IT WILL WORK. ASK ME ON PRIVATE!!!!!!
The following procedures could not work anymore:
0. 20220315: Downgrade from EMUI12 is working with HiSuite 11.0.0.610 or newer.
For P40 Pro C432, to downgrade ( do not skip point 3):
a. from stable EMUI12 12.0.0.218/228 to EMUI11 11.0.0.260 ( P40Pro C432), use the newest original version of HiSuite. At this moment is HiSuite_11.0.0.610_OVE. No proxy has been used.

6. The transfer files between Computer and phone is available on the downgraded firmware (10.1.x.x) when you use a certain USB-c to USB-c cable. In this case a UGREEN, US355, USB-C To USB-C, 3.1, Gen.2, PD, 5A, 100W, 4K, 10 Gbps cable has been used. In the same time, using the original USB cable or other ordinary USB-c to USB-C cable have not activated the file transfer.
Harmony TP cable works also, in case your computer/laptop doesn't have USB-C port. You can build/make one (search the procedure on YouTube).

Google Suite Install/Errors etc. ( Play store, Google Play Services, Google Account, etc.)
IF YOU HAVE GMS ERRORS
DO NOT RESET THE PHONE TO FACTORY SETTINGS AND DO NOT MAKE EMUI DOWNGRADE
1. Play store error
a. It can be opened but cannot be used
If you receive just this message try Clear Cache of Google Play Store + Force stop, then start Store again. Do not clear data.
b. 20211113 Errors: If the previous doesn't work try this (read below first).
V1 - EloYGomeZTv
V2 - Renz Dagz TV ,
V3 -System Hacks
V4 - GSM Fix/ ictfix
Many phones with GMS installed have now ( since 20211113) that error message when you open Google Apps. Many of you think that a downgrade of EMUI and a reinstall of GMS is needed. No EMUI downgrade is needed. In previous links (V1-V4) you will find 4 solutions to have a GMS working. Unfortunately they use old versions of Google Play Services. The newest version is used in V1. Some apps (Android Auto, etc.) will need a newer versions of Google Play Services than those presented in tutorials. I tried different solutions and files and I have to say that the last version of working Play Services is:
- for MateXS: 21.15.13
- other phones: 21.24.56
Using a newer version will get the error.
Also a simple clear data/force stop/update or other changes made on Google Play Services file could get future errors.
c. The fix A.3 from here solves all this problems and solves also many incompatibilities.
My phone has not been affected: Demo
2. Change/add Google account/password after GMS install - files in description: Tutorial - EloYGomeZTv
3. Googlefier on 2022 - solve step 1 error : here.
4. I used this method to install GMS: here. You can use any other method. YouTube is full of them. One of them is Googlefier.
5. A new alternative to install GMS here.. In video it is used on HarmonyOS 2.0 phone, but I think it might work on EMUI10 (that allows GMS install) too. It seems to be more simple than Googlefier and it has fixed also te year 2022 bug of Googlefier.

Push Notifications Fix
A. There are 3 methods to have push notification:
Method described in this thread. (Free of charge- using Airplane mode method- You have to make this procedure from time to time, especially after restart the phone).
Method using IceBox. Video. (Free of charge- using frozen GSF, Play Store is not working, other apps related to the google services/location accuracy will not work).
Method of Ilham. See the first comment on YouTube here (Not free of charge- almost all working, the tutorial is not 100% accurate on the phones made for other market than China. International market phones need additional settings, made by me). I have been using this solution since march 2021 without problems on my P40 Pro C432, with my own procedure. You can ask me on private about this one. I am the only one allowed to share it. Sample
B. In case some apps receive notifications only when the screen is ON : here.

Hey!
I had same problem like others today - with certificate Play Protect.
I did downgrade with full wipe and then installed google services using this method:
and it worked before i did ota update to .176.
I've got an error like on the screenshot.
I have no idea what's going on, it worked for me when i did that months ago.
Can u please help me?

It is not related to the EMUi Update. It is related to the Google Suite auto-update. Google Play Store is auto-update itself no matter what. But it update also Google Play services. That is the problem.
It is a fact that Google+Huawei do a lot of things to stop us running Google services on our phones. So, in my opinion EMUI updates and Google Play Services updates are not good for our phones. What version of Google Play Services is now on your phone (screenshot)?

Before ota update i changed auto-updating off in google play options. No idea what to do now.
I have 21.39.15 version of Google Play Services now.

I modified first response. I am waiting for your screenshot.

That's my versions of apps

It is not enough.
And do you have multiple Play protect errors messages or this error appears when you open Store/other Google apps only?

Only this error like on first screen, no other messages. I even logged into a newly created account (in a process of installing gapps) to check that's not an account problem.

First try clear cache of Google Play Store + Force stop. Then start Store again. Do not clear data.

Hello there,
I have a P40 Lite (it was hard to me to found this thread cause there are 3 pages for P40, P40 Pro and P40 Lite, maybe they could be together).
I have found myself with exactly the same issue described by MiszczOszczy44.
I have followed another tutorial restarting my device after cleaning cache and data from Google Services Framework, Google Mobile Services and Google Play Store, and now push notifications concerning to Google Play Protect have came back.
May reinstall previous GMS and Google Play Store solve this issue?

This method worked for me after I started getting the error today.

Okay, thanks to @badmania98 he helped me with his fixes on TeamViewer. Really recommend this user

I have to mention that on the @MiszczOszczy44 I have installed the most advanced push notification fix (paid version). This procedure will fix push notifications and other/many incompatibilities.

GMS Installer (Google Play) 100% works for all Huawei devices

Greetings,
Actually i own Nova 2s, but i'll just share it here because no specific forum for Nova 2s.
After a few days scratching head and crying loud trying to find out why when i open Google Play Store it's just stuck on circular loading screen, i finally came down to the solution.
For all of you who think it's maybe ROM's fault, it's not.
It's pure GApps' fault, specifically it's com.google.android.gms A.K.A Google Play Services.
Not long ago, you can find an app named GMS Installer in HiApp market, and Huawei decided to trash it, so that's why you can't find it anymore in HiApp market.
GMS Installer is the solution for this issue.
Download the GMS Installer and install the APK, open the app, and press One Touch Installation, your device will automatically reboot and automatically install Google Play Services in Huawei eRecovery.
After your device booting back into system, check in Apps if the Google Play Services installed correctly.
After that, you can download the rest from APKMirror : Google Account Manager, Google Calendar Sync, Google Contacts Sync, Google Play Store, and Google Services Framework. Keep in mind you should download version that fit to your android version.
You can even update the Google Play Services to the latest version using the apk's from APKMirror, don't worry it will works.
That's it!

Apps not working.
Hi,
I have installed the gms installer with eRecovey, not with TWRP, and the apks from apkmirror.com. The apps didn't wanted to work... Can u please attach the links to the exact versions that you are using? Thanks.
Just tried this on a Nova 2 Plus which was upgraded to Oreo and had problems not accessing anything Google. I can confirm that it works.... But for some reason Google Services Framework from apkmirror would not install. Otherwise, so far so good.

I just tried with installing GMS installer, and then switching to Chinese AppGallery market, and installing the official Play Store app. Then just install and update everything from Play Store, and voilà.:good:
when I clicked for GMS installer one touch installation it required me to uninstall all my google apps however it will not let me delete Google Services Updater because i do not have it downloaded on my honor 6X in the first place. why is this and I cant find this app anywhere to download and then uninstall again so what should I do?
This works in Honor 8 max (and this phone is not rooted)

I had the same issue, the hiApp or some security app blocked me to install the GMSInstaller because it was flaged as dangerous. You can install it from a computer via ADB
I suggest you to download minimal ADB Tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Then copy the GMSInstaller to the ADB folder
Then in the device under development options > Debugging, uncheck the option "Verify apps over USB" that will allow ADB to install apps without a promtp.
Connect the device to the PC and grant debugging permission when asked
Just use adb install package.apk where package is the name of the GMS installer you have
---------- Post added at 06:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:29 PM ----------
I've already installed GMS and stuff, but i have a problem, some apps are not available for installation from Google Play Store.
If i try to install the APK manually i get this message:
"The installation package uses a shared directory that does not exist" and the app wont install.
If i try to install via ADB i get this message in the ADB console:
"[apppackage] requires unavailable shared library com.google.android.maps; failing!"
i get this errors with some apps, and i dont know how to solve this

That's a problem with every Chinese variant of phones, phones sold in China are not allowed to have Google services, not the phones fault it's the Chinese government. You can sideload "usually" but on some devices it may be blocked by the firmware. If you don't have success sideloading the APK packages you may have to go rebranding to a European or international variant.
Could you fix the GMS issue for Huawei EMUI 9.0 android Pie system?

[Guide] [ROM] (mantis) Fire TV Stick 4K Prerooted Android TV Rom (6.2.7.6)

After so many trial and error, I've finally saved the latest version of my system with TWRP backup. I want to share this personal setup with you guys since it required a lot of work to debloat, install add-ons, apps, kernels and tweaks. This is a single package that contains many modifications from other threads made for simple, one-time installation. I tried to keep it close to Android TV (Nougat) exprience. However, I kept some of the Amazon software that I use like Alexa and Amazon Appstore.
Guides I found and used for this rom:
[UNLOCK][ROOT][TWRP][UNBRICK] Fire TV Stick 4K (mantis)
[Magisk][Module] FireTV 4K Stick Add-Ons
[Magisk][Module] Google Play Market, Services and TV Search for FireOS 6

Working:
Alexa
Voice Input of Amazon keyboard. (need to enable FireTV IME Keyboard from settings) (long press menu button for quick switch)
Amazon Settings
Fire TV Remote App (I highly suggest this app. Works perfect for navigation and keyboard input)
Amazon Appstore (You can install your previous paid apps from here. Search function in amazon appstore only works with alexa)
Google Play Store and Services
Magisk
Xposed
Recommendations on launcher
Widevine DRM (Netflix, PrimeVideo etc. works fine)
Kodi Audio Passthrough
Android Screen Cast
Not working:
Google Assistant
Google Voice Search
==========================================================================================
Some useful apps that I installed (all can be uninstalled):
FX (file manager with root access)
Link2SD (app manager with root access. It lets you uninstall, freeze system apps or convert them to user apps and vice versa)
Xposed Edge (simple alternative to tasker or key mapper with root access. I've mapped long-press of back button to kill foreground app)
LeanKey Keyboard Pro (came with tsynik's magisk module and I loved it)
Smart Youtube TV (modded youtube app that enables dozens of options. I'm using it to increase the playback speed of videos)
MX and VLC Player (to play local or online streams)
Aerial Dream TV (really nice screensaver that uses Apple TV visuals)
Prime Video, Netflix, Spotify (not to make the launcher look empty)
Installed magisk modules:
Xposed Framework (rovo89)
Google TV Apps for FireOS 6 (tsynik)
FireTV4k Selinux Fix (Pretoriano80)
Installed xposed modules:
Xposed Edge
AFTV-XM (tsynik)

Requirements:
OTG Adapter
USB Keyboard/Mouse
USB Stick Formatted Fat32
TV or Monitor
Firestick 4K
How to install:
Be aware that your warranty will be void.
Backup your files.
Unlock bootloader and install twrp using this guide.
Download and extract Firestick 4K Android TV TWRP Backup.rar to TWRP backups path on USB stick; TWRP > BACKUPS > G070VM0984752N1Q
Do a factory reset via TWRP (use otg adapter and keyboard/mouse to navigate)
Restore from TWRP backup that you prepared.
Reboot to system.
Connect to wifi and log in to your amazon account. (still using keyboard or mouse to navigate)
Go to Settings > Fire OS > Controllers and Bluetooth Devices and pair your Fire TV remote. (now you can ditch the keyboard)
Enjoy.
Mirror:
Google Drive
Additional Notes:
Developer options and USB debugging enabled.
OTA updates disabled.
Disable "Stay Awake" option in developer settings if you want the screensaver to start.
Long-press to back button kills the foreground app. It makes quitting activities easier.
Long-press to menu button opens fast keyboard switching window. It helps to switch to amazon keyboard when I use voice input.
You can change the launcher to whatever you want. I'm happy with Leanback Launcher. I didn't try but there's this.
Important: Never install magisk updates from magisk. Use TWRP.
If you want to create TWRP backup, select "System Image" and "Vendor Image" insted of system and vendor.
Suggestion: FX Web Access makes it easier to tranfer files.
Suggestion: I think keyboard from FireTV remote app and alexa's speech to text input are the most efficient input methods if you don't have physical keyboard.

Just a word to the wise as of recent events it is strongly advised members disable OTA updates on Mantis should they wish to continue modifications such as #root, launchers , adb pm commands etc etc . Update bin 6.2.7.7 has a 2nd "system updates" part to it that contains the boogeyman and is breaking things like adb commands etcetera .

Leave data alone
Then after previous firmware has been flashed from twrp

Ok thanks
The lastest update breaks kodis "audio passthrough" under certain conditions too. DTS has been disabled by Amazon.
Just wanted to say thanks! My Fire Stick became a mess and this was a breeze to install. Not sure if the following behaviour is intended, but one thing I found annoying was that when you stream something via a streaming service, the video continues to play in the background when you press the home button (you can still hear the audio). I solved this by changing the home button behaviour to "kill current foreground app".

I use YouTube a lot so that's the only perspective I can give. I am using the same YouTube apk.
The boot time is significantly longer than FireOS. I hook mine up to the TV USB so it cold boot every time. I would say it's double the amount of time to boot your rom.
1. The remote works beautifully on FireOS. It allows skipping without that shadow thing coming and interrupting and dedicated buttons for play/pause is essential.
2. FireOS using the same APK doesn't support backward on LIVE stream.
I will be switching back it was fun hacking this. It's been a while.

Playstore gets data but u cant download it crashes
Play services is version 7.3.29
Services framework is version 4.4.4(newer doesnt work)
Account manager version 7.1
Youtube works with account but sometimes crashes
Perhaps if you share the steps someone can use that info and make it happen.
Okay
1. Installed lzplay
2. Installed googlefier
3.installed only microg gms from googlefier and logged in with my account
4.I disabled microg gms trough adb so that account stays loged in while uninstalling(there is tutorial how to disable apps)
5. Installed Services framework version 4.4.4
6. Installed google account manager version 7.1
7. Installed google play services version 7.3.29
8. Instaled Playstore
9. If playstore wont open just go airplaine mode and delete data of playstore and services framework
Playstore opens and gets all data u can search everything but when u click download it crashes if u want working youtube u need to update google play services to this one i put here but when u install this apk i get error that this device is not play certified
Edit: uploaded all apks that i used, except play services 7.3.29 you will have to download it from apkmirror(i doesnt want to upload)
Please specify: China only device with Harmony, not with EMUI.
On Chinese models, GMS should be fully functional, as far as I know.
Well, as i've searched on youtube it's complicated to sideload GMS on HarmonyOS for chinese devices, no matter if it's Mate 40 Pro or P50 Pro, it's complicated...

it is a big step ahead, hope someone will find out the complete solution. how about downgrade to EMUI 11 and try the steps one more time?
Hi!
I'm using Mate 40 Pro (C432 - HW-EU => NOH-N29).
It's rather easy to downgrade using the HiSuite from EMUI 12 down to 11.
In my case I'm setting up the Hi Suite Proxy (3.3) downloaded from it's official page:
Releases · ProfessorJTJ/HISuite-Proxy
Modifying HiSuite and manipulating it's connection data to install Roms before they officially get released. - ProfessorJTJ/HISuite-Proxy
github.com
Just install HiSuite, Hi Suite Proxy, patch the HiSuite, start up the phone and connect.
I additionally turned on the Programmer Mode in the phone.
Once connected via HiSuite, in the UPDATE section, except the UPGRADE (if available) it allows to install another variant -> in my case it's allowing to DOWNGRADE (Roll-back) down to EUMI 11 (in my case: 11.0.0.253).
IMPORTANT - it's deleting/erasing all the data, so before ANY actions it's wise to backup the files on the phone.
After downgrading I was trying many methods:
- LZPlay / G-Play,
- Googlefier,
- MicroG (several variants, including the one where it allows to use different 'ID's' -> i.e. Nexus X5 (which worked partially in opposite to other sollutions).
- LightHouse -> variant available on AppStore (Huwaei) isn't working, but the one downloaded from this forum did allow me to create the Google account.
Unfortunately any mixes/fixes of GPS, GFS, Account Managers, Google Play Store - are recognizing and forgeting the accounts, while attempting to remove the MicroG or LightHouse.
Perhaps you can help by explaining how to freeze the MicroG (by ADB?) and I'll be able to move-on.
My goals are:
- make the Android Auto to run;
- make the GApps -> Google Assistant, Chrome (with sync), Google Calendar to work;

How To Guide Install Google Play Services on Honor Magic 3 Pro [UI 6.0 Downgradable] Android 11 Packages

I manage to make GMS worked natively with some limitations (push notifications using Google FCM and Map showing on some apps which can be solved by downloading those app from AppGallery).
I have been updated the file to Honor GMSv2.zip to most of file are Android 11 (API30) and recent working version possible. My phone run:
Magic UI 5.0.0.189 now (Mar 1 2022 security)
I uninstalled the system update to avoid update to UI 6.0
no possible solution yet for 6.0 for gms installation, Google will be removed on first reboot on 6.0

It should have worked on old version of backup like Huawei. Be sure you have a change of date before restore (it is important step! )
The version of mine that worked is com.hihonor.koBackup-11.5.1.348-230501348.apk
If it is still not work out, It might be Honor phone updates to android 12 incompatible with the assistance app, you may downgrade to install it.

yeah, i am waiting for some solution or installation method for GMS on Magic UI 6. Let's see if someone is coming up on this.
I am using previous method to install GMS. my only problem is I can't update GMS because its is a system app now, P50 doesnt have this problem. IS there any other workaround for those system apps thing. P50 works fine with no errors or notification and all Google files are uptodate. Honor Magic3 Pro freeze when google wants to update gms when installing gboard.

To clearify, the previous method is just extended and also needless for Honor magic 3 pro where it only need to clear data on Framework to fix the error.
First of all, to update google services, you should go to play store and turn off app auto-update from the settings first.
The steps to update or uninstall are here:
-update using unsupported version for Google services (android 11 version any packages)
-reboot, You will see uninstall button
-Install any packages you want
The files are attached below! the second packages is 20.30.65 that is work great, you can try other version on android 10 for GMS to work.

As you mention, P50 is based on Android 10, and Magic 3 pro is on Android 11.
You can try to update the Google Services Framework from 10 to 11 to make it work flawelessly, still, some limitation on Map and push.
The procedures are the same as updating Google Play Services.
Thank you. Very clear.
The method i used was to insert GSF to google account, which allowed me to update smoothly on P50.
hi,
I tried on my Honor Magic 3 Pro Plus (Ultimate) but I can't uninstall the Google Services Framework. My phone can't fix the Google Play Services error message: this device isn't Play Protect certified

[GUIDE] Installing GMS on Huawei P40 Pro with EMUI 10

New method that worked for me (2023/01/21) here. If the below method doesn't work, try it.
----------------------------------------------
After literally a year I have GMS on my P40 Pro again!
What worked was following a tutorial that badmania98 shared (thank youuu)
I didn't see anyone comment about this so here's what I did that actually worked.
First of: My device is a Huawei P40 Pro with EMUI 10 - 10.1.0.176 (C432E8R6P1). I don't know if it works with other EMUIs/devices. It should according with the video tutorial.
Steps:
0 - Some steps won't happen like you see on the video, so read carefully.
1 - Watch the whole tutorial first: The link to the tutorial: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kGkLsf83Bk
2 - Download the app to your device and the HuaGu PC ADB to you PC.
3 - Turn off wifi and mobile data on your device, turn off the internet on your PC (this is just for security reasons, may not be really necessary. I did it)
4 - Do all the PC stuff you see on the video and also step 1 and 2 on the HuaGu app.
5 - When you reach step 3 of the HuaGu app, you may get stuck on the Restore Backup process. Let it run for a minute, go back, and if the step 3 doesn't have a check, do it again. On my 2nd try I got a check on step 3 and moved on.
6 - Turn on wifi or mobile data on your device.
7 - When doing step 4 of the HuaGu app, it should open the Google Service Assistant (that app with the purple G), gives you a error in Chinese and you won't see the same screen as in the video tutorial. Just got back to the HuaGu. It will give you a hint about not knowing if the Assistant did anything (In my case it appears that did nothing, but the whole thing worked anyway).
8 - Do steps 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
9 - Open Google Play Store. You'll get those annoying notifications about the not valide device / certifications / whatever. Press retry, open, close, retry and eventually Google Play Store will open normally even with all the notifications popping up.
10 - Install Google Maps. It's going to be annoying to do because of all the notifications.
11 - Open Google Maps and confirmed that you are logged in to your account. Move around the map a bit.
12 - Leave the device showing notifications for a minute or two.
13 - If you still have the annoying notifications (you probably will), go back to the HuaGu app and press on step 10.
14 - There, press step 0 and go back (I didn't register anything here. Maybe because at one time I had GMS on this device, dunno).
15 - Do all the other steps like it says.
16 - Open Google Play Store and disable automatic updates. Close it.
17 - Reboot again.
18 - Open Google Play Store, open Google Maps. If everything is working and without annoying notifications, uninstall HuaGu, Google Service Assistant and that backup restore app. Also, go to your downloads folder and there should be a bunch of APKs that were used during the tutorial. You can delete those as well. Turn off Developer Settings if you don't use them.
Congrats!!! You should have GMS on your device!! I only tested with Maps because it's the only app I really care about that needs GMS to be work so I can use all its features.
Thank you badmania98 and Average Logs!
so i have to roll back the EMUI from 12 to 10 first right?

Is your Google account on phone Settings\Users & accounts\Google ?
I tried about 20 times to do according to this instructions with HuaGu2.
Tried 10 times with HuaGu3.
And every time the same result: after uninstalling MicroG and installing Google Play Services, there is no Google item in Settings, no Google accounts (although there were MicroG accounts) and the Play Market asks to enter.
I have a Huawei P40 EMUI 12 Europe phone. I tried several different firmware, downgraded to EMUI 11 - the result is the same.
Have you come across such cases? What to do?
Not working for me either, same reason. When i uninstall microg, it also uninstalls my google accounts
P40 Pro, 10.1.0.176 (c432)
Any suggestions?

Yes, I was going to try that. But when I tried to downgrade via your Dload method (like i did before to get to 121) it wont let me downgrade now. It is now on 230. I've formatted memory stick, put dload folder back on it and tried again but it stays at 230. So why before it let me downgrade but not now? I dont get it.

I am unable to make a backup with Huagu pc app. And I suspect that is because I have FW10.1.0.121 and data transfer and fast charge is disabled, right?
Help much appreciated. Thx
The guide that I posted on the top doesn't work for me anymore - Device not certificated errors. It stopped working around last November. However, today I found a tutorial that works:
So new Tutorial:
Link here
WHAT I DID DIFFERENTLY:
1 - His version is 10.1.0.134 but I'm still on 10.1.0.176 (superior) and it worked.
2 - Maybe because of that, the process of Backup & Restore doesn't worked. The password isn't "icfix1net" anymore, it's "a12345678" or whatever is in the password tip. Still, couldn't restore. So I skipped opening that chinese app.
3 - Google Play Store didn't installed - said it's already installed (which isn't). I continued anyway.
4 - From this point forward I did everything like the tutorial except the parts that involve Google Play Store and the activation of syncing contacts.
5 - Uninstalled the Backup & Restore app.
6 - Done.
Notes:
- If you want to install apps just use the Aurora Store. It uses the apps from Google Play Store so it's safe. I installed Google Maps from there to do the testing.
- Google Play Store is what actually messes everything up because it updates itself and GMS. Either don't install it or block its access to the Internet (you can do that in the settings or use a firewall or whatever).
- If this doesn't work, try to follow the whole tutorial. Who knows. Like I said in the beginning, this is what worked for me.
- If you need to downgrade there are links in the video description, plus there's a lot of tutorials there on XDA for that.
Side note: If you noticed, he has a P40 Pro with unlocked bootloader. I don't know what's the point since there isn't root or custom ROMs available, but it can be done (probably paying). Mine is NOT and it doesn't make a difference in the process.
Good luck everyone !
EDIT: Late reply to everyone:
- Yes, the Google account is in the Settings.
- This new tutorial doesn't use the PC so try this.
- About all firmware questions I can't really answer. I have 10.1.0.176 and never done a downgrade. I simply never updated after that and always disabled the auto updates.
