Hi
I am making an android book app with java using one web view and my pages in html files.
I created an assets folder , under src- main and store my pages in there
Now all I'm missing is a navigation method.
As I am new to this, I am trying to find how to slide from one html page to another instead of clicking buttons. please if you know how , set an example because like I said I am new to this.
here is a link to the app I made if you want to have a look(its very small for testing purposes, with 3 pages).
https://github.com/Philip2021-Gr/book-app-sliding-between-html-files
So far no one gave me any reliable answer that refers to a rookie like me in coding nor I find a video tutorial that saws how to do that with html pages that are stored in your assets folder.
Thank you in advance
Philip

Hi guys,
I don't know if this is the right forum to post on..
but I have a question relating to adding a Custom Tab in TF3D to display a custom program.
Is there an app out there that allows you to add your own custom tab? I would like to have a tab to run a third party app. Or is that a ROM thing?
Do I just change the registry in the manila files?
Also, is there a guide for noobs to understanding how TF3D works? I've had a look at the wiki and it lists all the manila files and their functions, but I'm not sure how they work (e.g.: Can I just 'add' an extra entry into a manila file and get an extra tab?)
Much appreciated if someone can point me in the right direction!
Really??? No one??
Wow....
Okay then, I'll give it a shot myself. I have basically no programming experience (aside from high school VB and a little HTML and I read a little C++ in 24 hours...I got to the 6th hour and got lost ) but it seems to me that editing various manila files (e.g.: 269*_manila) seems to be the way to go.
I'm on holidays at the moment, so I will get to it next week, but here's the plan of attack:
1) Find a manila file that lists the tabs and duplicate a tab entry but change the name (from various online readings it seems like it's 269**338_manila or something)
2) Find all the references and links that manila file has and duplicate those (obviously under a new name)
3) Duplicate the mode9 file, and see if I can't create a replicated tab of an existing tab
4) Change the mode9 file
5) Realise that I don't actually know how to do that, and find out how to use mode9editor as well as learn how to read the stuff that comes up
6) Cry a little
7) Play around some more
Any pointers from people who've tried? Or know more than I do (which, I am guessing, is most of you)
Oh, by all means, try yourself. And then post here.
I use for very long time SPB Shell and I am very happy with it, but what I was missing it was a direct link to a web site. For long time I used links on first page of Opera but they are only 9 and I need it more. Sow I start digging for a solution.
I find this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=490447 on my favorite site (xda-developers.com) but it doesn't say nothing about web links. So I just try a solution by myself and I find it. Please remember maybe somebody else find this solution to, but personally, I didn`t find noting about this subject in my searches.
How you to:
1. You create a new .lnk file or you just duplicate one already existent (you can do this in other programs to but i will explain only for resco)
2. Rename .lnk file with any name you desire.
3. At properties on second tab named "Shortcut" on "Target" field write "http://www.website.com" were www.website.com is you desired website. Please do not forget to write the "http://" part because without the link is not working.
4. Deselect if is need it "Hidden" option on "General" tab other ways backup program will ignore the link and you may lost it on next restore.
4. Whit a specialized program change icon of link with a icon of your choice. I created a icon (png file) with a snap shot for every page I use.
5. Enjoy.
Here is my page in SPB Shell dedicated to Web (for icon used here please visit my blog www.everydaymobiles.blogspot.com)
I have both DocumentsToGo, and QuickOffice on my G-Tab. DocsToGo will let you open a Word Doc, but when you go to edit, it opens a new edit dialog with the previous sentence (at most) visible. It does not seem to allow you to edit many formatting options, and I can't see any way to use it to insert an image file into a document. QuickOffice lets you edit inline, but otherwise seems to have the same limitations.
Is there a "complete" word processing program for the G-Tab that will let me do some formatting and insert pictures, as well as produce a .DOC or .DOCX compatible file?
Is there some way to setup Google Docs like this, and have it be available if I don't have a connection (maybe through dropbox)?
TIA!
I'm using the QuickOffice HD from the Notion Ink Adam and it works great!
It's available via this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928832
Right now, the current version lets you connect to Google Docs and both edit AND create new documents (Word, Excel, PPT) as well as read PDFs
You could easily open a document up and re-save it internal to your gTablet for offline use -- or as you suggest use Dropbox to keep a local folder synced up for offline use...
Google only recently added support for the XML office files to GDocs -- so creation of new documents in those formats isn't natively supported in this version (but may be available in a newer version of QuickOffice HD I suppose)
Long Pressing in a Word document brings up a dialog with the following options:
- Add Image from Gallery
- Add Image from Camera
- Select Text
- Input Method
You can also change Fonts (inc. set Bold, Underline, Italic, etc), Alignment, Colour...
I think that just about meets your requirements (?) -- give it a try...
+1 for quickoffice tablet addition from notion ink. Works great for me!
OK, have given it a try. To begin with, I feel a little odd using it since I can't find the HD version in the market, so have to wonder if it won't up and die on me at some point.
In any event, I was able to insert and resize a picture, but couldn't find any way to select just the picture so I could try to center it. Selection handles seem a bit difficult to operate. Also could not find any way to edit my headers or footers, or to apply my document styles for chapter hearings.
Tool may support all this, but the online help isn't the greatest either. Half tempted to register and see if there have been any updates.
FWIW
The HD version is great. Use it for my college classes and I love it. Have the USB case and this and ur good to go. Being integrated with google docs and dropbox is a nice feature too

I just side loaded the Notion Ink Quick Office app, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to create a document. Am I supposed to create a Google Docs account or something? Or should I just be able to create a document on my G tab?

I think you click the app (e.g., word), then select SDCARD, then press the small + at the bottom, which will popup file or folder choice.

Got it, thanks. Very cool!
Wow i must say the Quickoffice HD is way better than my DocstoGo full at this moment. Wasted my money on Docstogo...
I like the ported canvas app as well.
This seems to be much better than doctogo.
It asked about registering it do I need to?
Nope it's optional.

This is problem that seems continuous to all my android devices (evo 3d, galaxy s2, and touchpad with schizoid) and I was wondering if anyone had a solution:
Is there any way to open up pdf files that are embedded in frames? Thanks
I have tried multiple browsers (chrome, dolphin, integrated android one) with no success.

I've never used schizoid only AOSP, but when I click on a link with a pdf file it's downloaded, then I use an Adobe reader to read them.
Hope this helps.
It is only terrible websites that have PDF files in frames. like this:
ugh unable to post link to it: if one searches on google "pdf in frame" it is the first link.
I wouldn't care about 1990's web design except one website I really need access to won't load!
Thanks!

I see what you mean, ugh.
Maybe this link will help : http://drupal.org/node/
From the little I read, it seems Firefox has a plug in for this. Take a look at it, maybe that will be your solution.
Good luck.

Displaying PDF in frame

I have all the pdf files in one folder www.mysite.com/images/ . Is it possible that via some php script whenever user access those pdf files either directly or through google, it is opened inside a frame (with my website's logo, menu etc as the top banner above the pdf) instead of opening directly as pdf file?

Opening PDFs inside browsers
Posted by styro on September 20, 2006 at 8:43pm
is a browser plugin thing at the client, the webmaster can't control that. Some PDF readers or OSes don't include browser plugins for PDFs, and always handle PDFs as downloads. Some paranoid users (after all Acrobat Reader has some security issues apparently) might switch off PDF browser plugins.
As for opening in a frame, you couldn't do that with a link directly to the PDF (eg public downloads). With private downloads you might be able to add to the system (?) module to change the download pages to use frames somehow - but IMO it would be a lot of pain for very little (if any) benefit.

With Firefox on Android you can install the PDF Viewer as an addon. This is the viewer that now ships with the desktop version. I've used it before to view PDFs in the browser, its not as smooth as Adobe, but will probably work for you:

I've already seen lots of posts on the site for RTF to HTML converters and some other posts talking about some HTML to RTF converters, but I'm really trying to get a full breakdown of what is considered the most widely used commercial product, open source product or if people recommend going home grown.
I really need that so if there is any kind of solution you already know, please answer.
I already check librtf.sourceforge.net but it doesnt work properly as native code in C/C++. If there is anyone who used it before, and know how to implement it, please answer me!
Thanks a lot !
Option #1: If you were planning on packaging the RTF in the app itself (e.g., as raw resources or assets), get rid of the RTF and use HTML in your app in the first place, using either Html.fromHtml() and a TextView or use a WebView.
Option #2: Find some Java code that can convert RTF to HTML on the fly, then proceed as in Option #1.
Option #3: Find some cross-architecture C/C++ code that can convert RTF to HTML on the fly, add that to your app via the NDK, then proceed as in Option #1.
Option #4: Roll your own RTF parser and a SpannableStringBuilder to create the formatted Spannable to load into the TextView.
