How to unlock and install android on a fire hd7 4th gen? - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a fire hd7, 4th gen which I want to root and install android.
I think the first logical step would be to use TWRP but i cant find any versions for me device.
I am running FireOS 5.6.8.0 right now.
Running fastboot boot image.img, I get
Code:
Sending 'boot.img' (7724 KB) OKAY [ 0.377s]
Booting FAILED (remote: 'the command you input is restricted on locked hw')
fastboot: error: Command failed

[Q] Help: Device locked: 5.1 fastboot flash fails

I have a Moto-maker-made Moto X with T-mobile sim (I think XT1053) and never installed any custom ROMs. The soak from couple weeks ago soft-bricked the phone (factory reset from fastboot menu just powers off the phone). I can get into fastboot, but the device is locked (status code 0). Do I have to unlock it in order to apply the factory image? The steps below fail currently.
I got the TMO_Retail_XT1053_5.1_LPA23.12-15.222.21.15.ghost_row.Retail.en.US.tgz from motorola, and ran all fastboot steps until "fastboot flash boot boot.img" which failed:
Windows output:

sending 'boot' (10240 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.913s]
writing 'boot'...

Wrong forums. This is for the second generation (xt1095)
I have a failed flash :/

KFHD7 teamwin logo boot loop

There's a lot of similar threads on this and I have tried every method I could find and nothing has helped.
Yesterday I took a stock KFHD7 and rooted it, flashed teamwin recovery 2.6.3.1 and freedom boot 7.4.6, and then flashed CM 12.1 and the appropriate gapps. Everything was working GREAT except I had a problem downloading the Google Play Games app through the App store (Error -505) and I read the wasiest way to handle it on a new install was to just Factory Restore through CM 12.1. It wasn't until AFTER I rebooted that someone mentioned that doing that on CM 12.1 on a KFHD7 could seriously mess things up.
Now when I turn it on it shows the orange kindle fire logo, the blue kindle fire logo, then the teamwin logo, and then it flashes off briefly and goes back to the teamwin logo for a few more seconds before repeating flashing and teamwin over and over.
I was told I need to reflash the freeboot and teamwin recovery via fastboot. I had a lot of issues in that "fastboot dvices" does not return anything. "fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product" returns that I have the Tate. Attempting to use fastboot without the "-i 0x1949" parameter causes it to display "< waiting for device >" indefinitely. adb seems to work, but any shell commands I attempt to send return that the command is not found.
So I tried this:
Code:
C:\Users\ChrisS2.HQ\Desktop\kinfire\root\stuff>fastboot -i 0x1949 flash boot kin
boot.img
target reported max download size of 1006632960 bytes
sending 'boot' (8145 KB)...
OKAY [ 2.173s]
writing 'boot'...
OKAY [ 0.572s]
finished. total time: 2.749s
C:\Users\ChrisS2.HQ\Desktop\kinfire\root\stuff>fastboot -i 0x1949 flash recovery
kinrecovery.img
target reported max download size of 1006632960 bytes
sending 'recovery' (8145 KB)...
OKAY [ 2.182s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.578s]
finished. total time: 2.763s
C:\Users\ChrisS2.HQ\Desktop\kinfire\root\stuff>fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot
rebooting...
finished. total time: 0.001s
C:\Users\ChrisS2.HQ\Desktop\kinfire\root\stuff>
It's repeating the same behavior.
I've double checked and triple checked my drivers. The device is listed as "Kindle -> ADB Composite Device". Everythign seems to be fine on that end. I am using Windows 7 x64. I tried the fk scripts on Ubuntu with no success.
Edit: I also made my own Factory cable. Doesn't seem to have any affect on the process.
Two days of trying to figure this out and I fix it minutes after I ask for help.
I retried using the KFHD SRT v1.35 to recover the system image, deleted all user data and cache, then reformatted the /data partition. It can now boot properly into the teamwin recovery and flash ROMs as usual.
Here's a good article for people who had the same issue:

fastboot flash FAILED (remote: Checksum Error.)

Whenever i try to flash something to boot or recovery partition i get the following error:
Code:

sending 'boot' (4676 KB)...

It is a false checksum error as i have downloaded it multiple times and flashed it to other devices of the same model.

Just try with SP Flash Tool for Windows and Linux (any distributions).

What? Completely inappropriate suggestion for all but the most advanced tinkerers. Tossing into a (real) fire would be easier.

Could you be a bit more detailed? I don't understand.
Same, I don't understand. It appears you're trying to flash for the wrong phone...
If your bootloader is locked, you cannot flash anything in fastboot/bootloader.
Try sideloading the OTA again.
Getting this issue...are you able to fix it?

Moto G6 Forge - Cannot flash to recovery

I have a Moto G6 Forge Cricket that I forgot the password to. I have been trying to boot into another image without data loss in order to go in and delete the password config files, but have not been able to get anything to work. USB debugging doesn't seem to be on, the bootloader is locked, and I have no idea if it's possible. I can access fastboot and android recovery. Fastboot says the product variant is "jeter XT1922-9", leading me to believe that it's just a reskinned moto g6 Play.
I have tried recovery loading update aroma file manager from SD card, which failed signature check. Updating over adb doesn't work, as the phone doesn't show up in adb at all, only fastboot.
I tried flashing TWRP recovery for the moto g6, and got the following output on PC:
C:\Android\SDK\platform-tools>fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
(bootloader) is-logical:recovery: not found
Sending 'recovery' (17626 KB) OKAY [ 0.559s]
Writing 'recovery' (bootloader) Image recovery failed validation
(bootloader) Preflash validation failed
FAILED (remote: '')
fastboot: error: Command failed
On the phone, I see a series of yellow cmd log lines leading up to "cmd: flash:recovery" followed by pink "Mismatched partition size (recovery)" Some posts said that this was an ignorable error and to just proceed into recovery, but when I did it just went to the normal android recovery.
I also tried just using fastboot boot, but that obviously didn't work due to the locked bootloader.
C:\Android\SDK\platform-tools>fastboot boot twrp.img
Sending 'boot.img' (17626 KB) OKAY [ 0.563s]
Booting (bootloader) permission denied!
FAILED (remote: '')
fastboot: error: Command failed
I'm out of ideas and out of google search results that aren't SEO spam to read. If anyone knows something else I could try I would be happy to hear it. Thank you so much!
The only thing I can think of is using the factory recovery to erase the user partition / factory reset.
