Question should I switch from global to eu ROM ? - Redmi Note 10 Pro

hello guys
i just bought the redmi note 10 pro and it's working just fine, but my friend told me that the EU ROM is much better and it has more features on it.
which one is better global or EU ROM?

I use the xiaomi.eu rom. It does have more features and is less bloated.

This. What they do basically is take chinese ROMs and remove all the useless bloatware, the ads in the system apps and keep the extra features ; there's a permanent AOD, native super wallpapers and more

But this is with root right? I use a lot of finance and trading on my phone, how secure and safe are those roms?
Now i have stock EEA firmware, they go by GDPR and EU rules. No ads and you will need to accept a prompt on every instance where they would collect data. I like this only problems EEA gets updates a bit slower.

You don't have to root your phone to use xiaomi.eu. it does pass safety net and my banking app works.

Actually root is not required. Only requirement is unlocked bootloader. On android devices only trusted apps should be granted root then most of your financial/trading apps will be safe. Because other user apps won't be able to access financial app's data which haven't been granted root permission.

Is this the same thing as the 'global' rom?
I think they are different but essentially the same. Both come with Google apps

You don't have to root to use Android pay with the EU Rom. If you look at the features in the post above yours you will see they include Google certified as part of the package.

I was going to try this out today, but I'm getting the good old "10008 followed by some Chinese text" error when trying to bind my device in Developer Options in order to be able to unlock the bootloader. As far as I know, there is no working fix for that right now...
EDIT: One proposed solution is to connect to a Chinese VPN server and trying to bind it, but it hasn't worked for me (I've tried with four different Chinese servers).
Yes there is. Download plexvpn in the play store and use the Shanghai server. You will get approved right away

Thanks! I think I ended up trying ten or so VPN apps, but I wish I had tried plexvpn earlier.
Although I apparently still need to wait 72 hours (or more like 62 hours) to be able to unlock.
Glad I could help! I still need to wait 24 hours until I can unlock

Why do you have to wait, to unlock the device?
I didnt receive my device yet and it will be my first xiaomi device, thats why im asking
It's hell to unlock this phone. After you jump through hoops to finally get the phone registered to be unlocked, xiaomi puts a mandatory 72 hour wait on the phone before it can actually be unlocked.

+1 same question. ^^
My phone will arrive in round about 10 days, so is it possible to wait out the unlock time before I've received the phone?
You should try and start the process without the phone. Once you get the text you will need the phone to register it. To register it use a VPN app like plexvpn to register the phone in developer options. Use the Shanghai location. Once registered you will need to wait the 72 hours.
72h are over for me. I will unlock and flash EU rom after work.

Question UK NHS covid app

Hi All
Has anyone got this working on the Mi 11 Ultra?
I've been playing with it for a while. You get part way through the introduction and get a generic error message saying it doesn't work:
"unfortunately this app is not working"
It would be nice if the eror message contained a permission request that had been denied so you could diagnose the issue, but no.
So far I've given it every permission I can see, but still the same problem.
I'm running Chinese ROM Stable 12.5.7
Thanks
Steve
I flashed Eu Rom weekly and it works with no problems. China Rom is just so problematic. I think it will always be unless Xiaomi decides to optimise it for people outside China.

The Chinese ROM doesn't have full GMS framework, so the covid and some other Google apps won't work fully. If you want them, flash the Global or EEA ROM but your best option to keep the best of all the ROMs is to flash the official Xiaomi EU ROM.
Hi both
Thanks for your replies. Time to unlock and root my new phone then!

The EU ROM is approved by Xiaomi Europe and is based on stock updates, stable and weekly beta versions. But yes, via twrp install and format data on first install due to partition differences between them

I thought the Eu ROM was the only "unofficial" one in the world
But this is the first xiaomi device I've ever owned or modified
Yes I mean Xioami EU rom. I believe it's based on the China ROM, but much improved. I installed a few of them on my old Note 10 Pro and they worked well.
After a battle with settings and Xiaomi's Mi Unlock, I've started the boot unlock process so Thursday next week I should be cooked.
The bit that got me was there are 2 settings you need to enable in Developer Options, namely:
USB Debugging
USB Debugging (SecuritySettings)
OEM Unlocking
Without these set, Mi Unlock displays nothing, yes nada.
First port of call after rooting and flashing for me will be checking out camera2 api. I'd like to use 3rd party camera apps with all lenses.
Then hopefully the NHS Covid app will work.
Cheers

You are in fastboot mode when starting your unlock? Also try a different cable if you were. Many issues with some usb cables not, for some reason, working fully.
Lucky you.... Be glad it doesn't work.... Don't promote these Chinese surveillance apps...
On the snooping side, the firts app I load on a new phone is no root firewall:
NoRoot Firewall - Apps on Google Play
Firewall WITHOUT ROOT. Host name name filtering, fine-grained access control.
play.google.com
By default, it blocks everything so you have to check it and manually enable apps to pass through it, keeping in mind, some apps might not work at first.
If an app is trying to contact a server in China via a secure port (443) it's blocked. I recently bought a Chinese printer and the driver wanted location data and tried SSL to China so that was blocked lol.
Well after much jiggery pokery I now have the weekly EU ROM installed and the UK Covid app is working fine.
On the China ROM.....
==============
You get to a point in the setup and get some generic error message saying it might be a work phone.
On the EU ROM
===========
At the same point as above, it asks you for permissions and exposure notifications. You grant them and it carries on and works fine.
I emailed the developers about the issue and with XDA users help, have provided more info ie that it doen't work on China ROM.
Cheers

The UK covid app uses Google framework services. The Chinese stock ROM does not have Google (I think I'm right in saying that it's still band from mobiles) , the mini version is non standard and an unofficial add on. The same applies to location history, this does not work on the mini GM's that's added when the phone is exported.
The Xiaomi global and EEA versions have it built in as stock as they are for export markets.
I hope you have some luck but I doubt Google services will be allowed on Chinese ROMs for a long time yet but at least the suppliers put something on us to get started with.
Hi interesting info thanks I love these forums

Question Decition about CN rom

Hi.
I already bought the chinese 12gb-512gb version of the phone in Wondamobile.
I have now many doubts about the Chinese rom or apps as i have never used a Chinese rom.
I email wondamobile and google pay works and google services are installed.
Return the phone will be around 100$. It didn't arrive yet.
Does it have many changes or things in Chinese even if you put English?
I don't have much time to install different roms, uninstall apps or play with the settings.
What do you recommend?
I had the same variant in use with CN ROM for some time before I switched to Xiaomi.EU-ROM.
The CN ROM is OK, everything is in English so day-to-day usage is unhindered. This included GPay and full google support. Some apps like Youtube Vanced would not install without disabling MIUI Extensions, but this is an easy thing to do and set it back afterwards.
Oh, and updates are pretty regular (much faster than with the EEA/Global variants)....
So overall I would say: don't fear going with CN ROM !
Now you may ask: and why did you then change to Xiaomi.EU-ROM ? Well, its a bit more polished and adapted to western languages, also it contains a number of tweaks that make it superior for me and my usage of the phone.....

I haven't changed any rom in a phone in a very long time. Is it dificult?
I read the updates have to be done manually in the EU ROM but the whole phone or just checking yourself every now and then?
I am using the Chinese Rom since the day I got the phone (April 12), and I am more than happy with it.
Didn't need to lock the bootloader, or flash anything.
One of the best thing I don't get the annoying ADS like the other Roms. Updates are quick and no overheating or such.
Yes on other ROMS it will be Manual
It is my Daily Drive and I love it
Use the Chinese Rom for a little bit and If you find that Global or EU ROM is a must for you, then you have lots of members here who will help you install it.
GOOD LUCK
Pop over to the Xiaomi EU forum for latest ROMs and instructions, https://xiaomi.eu/community/forums/xiaomi-mi-11-pro-ultra-lite.211/
But a fair few post in both forums, so as posted above, there is lots of help, just ask, don't sit wondering or worrying.

Thank you very much for the help.
I think in my case as I'm not expert in any case will be to keep the Chinese to avoid "brick" the phone or mess around with the updates from EU ROM.
I was just worry i will be in a mess with the Chinese ROM. But if it's easy-ok to use in English it's fine.
Any list of bloatware or trick i have to do in the Chinese ROM as a must do?

3. flashing the eu.rom

Why do you want to root it? The EU ROM has widevine L1 and safetynet in the ROM, no need to root to get that. Root can be more of a pain to hide from banking and media DRM apps. Unless you really need to, don't.
Hiding root is super easy. EU rom is buggish I would not recommend it

No, not by far. Unless you are gaming or super critical than X app loads in 6ms against 5 in global, then don't worry. I've been using EU for ages not only on this phone. The Xiaomi dialler and SMS app is so much better for dual SIM phones. Look, if you don't like it, you can always go back. No 9ne 8s forcing anyone to stay EU.

Question MI 11 ULTRA CN NOTIFICATIONS

I just got my hands on the mi 11 ultra, few days back I made the switch from oneplus 7 Pro.
my major concern right now is notifications from Instagram, Whatsapp & messenger.
So far I have tried, Battery restrictions, auto start, lock app from recent taps & active notification (from developer options)
however I am still unable to get instant notifications on idle screen. sometimes the notifications are delayed by few minutes or they wait for my attention (till i unlock the phone or open the particular app)
since I run an ecommerce business these notifications are crucial for me.
Kindly if anyone has been successful do share what worked for you?

Unlock your bootloader and flash global rom. Best rom for 11 ultra.
I switch between china stable, eu, and now global. No bug and great performance
Global Rom is super performing as well as chinese especially if you play with root. Obviously chinese rom is kore advanced as it works under different regulations and also more updated

Did you try to give full permission to Google play services and Google services framework? Also allow autostart to it. Check if by doing so whatsapp start working as intended. Afaik whatsapp relies on Google play services to function properly. On Global rom Google play services is a system app on china is a user app, the problem is that
