Hello,
I have a wired issue with media and notifications sounds. In few days after factory reset, most of the sounds work incorrectly, I mean something like playing from only one speaker and they are very muffled. Also media playback, e.g. on YouTube, everything plays from one speaker and sometimes it switches to two, but at this point, the material is paused.
Notification sounds also play quietly but more often they are not at all.
I sent a phone to an authorized ASUS service center who said that there was no such problem. It is possible that there are some restrictions on sounds somewhere in the system settings?
reset again,maybe.

Its not ringing when a call comes in. It also does not vibrate.
The sound is up on the PPC and Ringer and if i go in to the phone settings it will play a ringtone fine.
Any ideas?
may be a reset might help? It also happened to me and after a reset, it all works good.
Don't know if it's the same thing with me, but my kaiser also at some point of day refuses to ring (still vibrates ok). It won't play mp3s with GSPlayer or MediaPlayer. Sometimes you can hear the song playing really quietly (only hear it if you press your ear to speaker).
It has happened like that for 3 days now. The sound will come back if I hit the tytn II gently (more like knock it). Althoug since today I'm not sure if it's the knock or the keyboard moving wich brings the sound back.
Any ideas?
What I've tried so far:
- Muting, unmuting
- changing volume
- soft reset
hard reset it. may be some programs you've installed might be conflicting. If the hard reset don't fix your problem, then you have a faulty unit. You can also try pocket mechanic to clean the registry and stuffs. Very helpful program.
Ok, will try hard reset.
Although I doubt it will help. Before hard reset, there was some very faint sound coming from the speaker. And speakerphone didn't work at all.
Back to resetting...
Try to change the ring tone to a different one, mine was doing the same thing it would only virate, I changed to a different ringtone and it worked fine.
I did try to change the ringtone. Every time the problem emerged. The problem was that the ringtone wasn't the only thing not playing. There was no sound for any of the events. And the speakerphone option also didn't work.
I did a hard reset last night. It didn't help. So I gave it up and went to sleep. I left my tytnII on a USB connection to my laptop. In the morning I checked if the problem was still there and found that the sound is back - the ringtones work.
I put it back on USB connection to sync. Copied an mp3 to test if it can play it (it has played it before). And there the sound went again - I can only hear it playing faintly if I hold the speaker to my ear. The ringtones won't even play when I check them in notification sounds setup - not even the default built-in ones.
Could it be a temperature issue? The tytnII sound was fine when I picked it up in the morning, it was room temperature. But it gets slightly warmer when I charge it or sync it.
I have done soft resets. I can play sounds in the phone settings options and music plays it will not vibrate when calling.
Resolved it was the 3G Dialer app causing the issue. Now i need a new one i hate the orange look....
I had an issue like this, but it was due to ringtones stored on the storage card ... and when the phone would wake up, since it takes the storage card driver a few secs to load, it wouldn't ring.... and I resolved it by moving my everyday ringtones to main memory
the thing is the rings are not on the card......
Maybe its the rom's radio
sleuth started to explain this in his upgrade however no one explains how to downgrade the radio. I believe mine is doing the same thing however I get no sound. maybe its the radio.
Draqula, did you solve your problem? Im having the same issue on my tytnII. I cant hear ANY SOUND. But if I play an mp3, for example, and I knock close to the speaker, the sound starts.
Any ideas?
My problem solved: The speaker was changed under warranty.
Hey guys.
I'm having some trouble with the audio playback on my N1. If i start the music player, after 20-30 minutes it pauses the playback. It doesn't close the app, it just pauses. I can unlock the screen and press play again. The music player clearly is on pause because the time label blinks.
This started happening after 2 weeks of installing frf50. Now i'm on frf91 (came as OTA). Do you guys know why and if there's a solution?
In case there's none, can you please guide me how to wipe all the cache on the phone so i can factory reset it after?
Thanks.
PS: Running services: ListenService (Google Listen), Comment Service (Wordpress), StartAlarm_Service (EasyMoney), BatteryIndicatorService (Battery Indicator Pro), NetCounterService (Net Counter), FancyRefreshService (Fancy Widget), UpdateService (Pure Calendar Widget), Google Messaging Service (Google Services Framework), GenieRefreshService (News and Weather), MediaPlaybackService (Music), Smartkeyboard (Smart keyboard Pro).
Today, when i was getting ready to leave home, I started the music player and after putting the phone into my pocket (3 seconds) the music stopped in the same manner. While i was on my way home, everything worked ok.
Ok, maybe nobody has this problem.
Could you at least help me by explaining what cache do i need to clear before/after the factory reset. I don't really understand that stuff.
Thanks.
Nobody?!?!
Can't believe nobody is able to explain to me how to wipe the cache or at least point me to a thread that explains this.
I read about wiping the cache when you root and install a custom rom, but i would appreciate if someone can explain if the wiping is OK when doing a factory reset.
When should that be done... little details like this.
Thanks.
I've had this same problem. My player will stop randomly on me in music, Google Listen and Stitcher. I would doubt it's limited to just theses applications. I am pretty new to the Android thing too, just got an N1 about three weeks ago.
Not sure about the cache thing but you're not the only one having this issue.
It isn't a cache issue, wiping it probably won't help.
It is most likely your headphones. Specifically the plug in the phone. It is triggering the playback controls. The headset that came with the NExus has extra controls that send signals back to the phone, people have seen those being triggered accidentally with other headphone plugs, or when inserting or removing the plug.
Try playing without a headset when you have the time, I bet it won't stop randomly on you.
It could be that the plug is a little loose, or there is a small short in the wires. I would recommend trying different headphones.
I have this same problem, blocking headset commands didn't help (i was wondering if erroneous headset commands were being sent or something) but it happens both on bluetooth and wired, so it seemed unlikely.
I noticed in your listed services that Google Listen is listed. I ran a logcat on my phone for a few hours while listening to music until the pause suddenly happened. I looked at the log and what is happening is Google Listen kicks on to check if there are any podcasts in your queue that should be downloaded in the background. At the same time it also registers for media button events and requests audio focus for some reason even though it's just in the background - when it requests audio focus it causes other media players to pause.
I submitted this as a bug report to the Google Listen discussion group, but honestly, who knows if or when it will be fixed. I don't know of a work around other than uninstalling Google Listen.

Hi, just upgraded from my Galaxy Note to the z1 yesterday.
Very impressed with the phone so far, but I have encountered one strange problem that I can seem to find no other comments about.
When I connect a headset (the bundled one, specifically) and turn my phone to silent mode so I can enjoy my audiobook in peace without being bothered every time I get a new promotional email, the notification sound plays over and pauses my audio book.
It does this no matter whether I turn the phone to silent, vibrate, turn the ringtone and notification volume to 0, and whether or not I make these changes manually or allow the smart connect app to make them for me.
The strange thing is, it only plays the notification sounds when something is playing through the headset. When I'm sitting just using the headset as a handsfree then everything behaves as expected - if a notification comes in, the phone will vibrate, flash the notification led, but won't make a peep otherwise. But as soon as media is playing, the phone seems to make up its own mind to vibrate and play the notification sound even though I've put it on silent.
Am I the only one experiencing this bug, or, more surprisingly, am I the only one who finds it hugely irritating?
Can anyone else even confirm if this behaviour is normal or is there something bugged out?
Over 60 views and no one can even confirm if this is actually how the phone is meant to deal with notifications?
Yes, I think is just You. Anyway, you have to play with settings because there have to be the solution, if you do not that mean is how supposed to be. If you are Rooted maybe you can edit some notification so if they will not show up you will not listen the sound in the handset.
I've tried everything! On my other phones (used an htc desire hd and a galaxy note) once I had my phone on silent then I didn't get audible notifications whether I had a headset plugged in or not. On the Z1 though I can't seem to get rid of them. I only hear them when I'm playing music, I wouldn't mind if it gave me an audible notification if I just had my headset plugged in as a handsfree and wasn't listening to anything, but having my music interrupted is pretty annoying, and I still don't even know if it's just something stupid I'm doing or if that's just the way it is.
I'm not rooted, I don't really want to since it stops sky go from working, but if it can stop the notification headache I might be willing. Don't really want to install a custom ROM unless the camera performance is as good as stock either
Yeah, I get it too. Too lazy to check the player settings though so not sure if it is something in the player settings that is doing this

Good point, can be the player too.
haven't seen anything in the walkman or audible apps to turn this off and never had to do it on my previous phones. oh well, at least i know it's normal now, hopefully they fix it in an update. thanks.
Hey guys, first time poster here.
Got my P9 the other day, very impressed compared to my old LG G3.
Recently I've noticed however, when running a game, such as "Pokemon Go" or "Fallout Shelter", it runs completely fine and smoothly full sound, etc. up until it's interrupted by a notification by another app.
I.E:
>Playing "Fallout Shelter".
>Get a pop-up notification from Facebook/whatsapp.
>Sound from app running stops and won't start again.
>Try backgrounding "Fallout Shelter" and coming back to it, still no sounds.
>Force stop/quit "Fallout shelter"
>Open/run "Fallout Shelter" again, sounds are working again.
>Get a pop-up notification from Facebook/whatsapp.
>Sound from app running stops and won't start again.
>Repeat.
Not so much a life changing issue, but really rather annoying. I'm assuming this is a software bug, as I've had no issue with this on any of my other devices. Is anyone else having the same issue?
If so, does anyone have any solutions?
Kind regards,
Jake
Same here, sadly I have not found a solution jet

Yep same issue here. Get a text message while playing Pokemon Go and poof, no more music or app sounds until it is quit and re-opened again. Wish these bugs were addressed as they're pretty blatant and annoying.
What about Piano Tiles 2? Sound is totally muffled and of low quality. Anyone experiencing the same problem? It's like Huawei p9 can't play two audios at the same time.
Nothing was fixed so far, right?
Okay guys, I found a small work-around. It is not really convenient but it could solve the issue for you:
There is an app called Volume Control: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=netroken.android.persistfree
and in the app you have the chance to lock certain volumes, like that of notifications, alarms, ringer AND media!
Media was the important one. So it will play your music or apps on the same volume level even if notifications come in. That is not the best solution as you might miss notifications and calls might sound strange with both volumes on max. Anyway, maybe that helps...
I used to get notifications sounds play in my bluetooth headphones (Sony WH-1000XM2). Unlike some this is exactly what I want when listening to music and podcasts.
However, all I now get is the vibration of the notification coming in and no sound at all.
I have reset the phone and played with all sorts but to be honest there isn't a lot in Settings that you can do. Yes, all the relevant sounds are set in notifications and Do not Disturb isn't on etc.
I know it's the Media stream that is the problem as I can hear incoming calls and text notifications.
This is so bloody annoying and I can't figure why it should not work now. I feel I've done something stupid but can't see what.
Yeah, I bet that's frustrating. It works fine for me on my Airpods, and I just started using the 4 XL as my primary device yesterday. I didn't fiddle around with any of the settings except for transferring my files over and turning on the blue light filter. Aside from that, I haven't done anything else, so I don't know if the issue you're facing has to do with the settings or not. I hope it gets sorted out for you, though.
Seems my other bluetooth headphones work so looks like it's a Sony thing all of a sudden, maybe new app update.
And not necessarily me doing something stupid!
