Cellular issues after Android 12 - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

I have a Pixel 4xl on Spectrum. Since my phone updated to Android 12 I have been unable to make phone calls on cellular and data randomly drops, you can watch it flash off and on several time, randomly. I get a Verizon error message. I can make calls on wifi only. After security and bug fix it worked for a short time then back to not working. My wife has the same phone and hers worked but dropped calls randomly anywhere between 1-10 minutes. Hers works a little better now but still has issues sometimes. After all this I rooted mine so I won't keep loosing data while working on it. In rooting I had to reinstall the factory ROM. I can now make calls on cellular but now drops calls between 1-10 minutes. Has anyone else seen this? Should I just go back to 11, if so which factory image do I use and how do I install it. I am rooted but not custom recovery installed.

I seem to have faxed it. Contacted Spectrum for the second time and they had me reset the network settings and it seems to have fixed it. Settings->System->Reset options->Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth

Calls not coming through

Hi, gang. I've been surfing the forum silently for a little while and got my G1 all rooted and hacked the other night. It's been awesome and thus far I've been able to resolve any issues I've had in the process.
This one is throwing me off but I know someone has run into it before. Sometimes when someone calls me, they say that it rings twice and then goes to voicemail. I never get any missed call notification or anything. It's like the call never existed. After testing, I found that data transfer is taking precedence over voice data when they both try to come through at once. It's really annoying!
Does anyone know of a way to reverse the importance of these 2 things? Obviously I want to receive my calls if they happen to arrive when data is transferring. My phone constantly accesses some sort of data throughout the day (only texts and email).
For reference:
- White T-Mobile G1
- ROM: OpenEclair v1.2.1 BACONWEAVE
Thanks in advance.
No one else has run into this? A friend said I could try a wipe and re-flashing the ROM and see if that works. I'm thinking of going back to Cyanogen and seeing if the problem occurs with that.
Roaming in Citrus Springs?
Check Settings/Wireless & Networks settings/Mobile network settings/Data roaming. The choice is to connect to data services when roaming. This should not be selected.
Regards
David,
I totally overlooked that setting. Before my phone was rooted, I apparently had disabled this but failed to do so after modding. I just tested it by loading a website in the browser and making a call to it while it was loading. The call came through without a hitch!
Thanks a lot. I had searched high and low but no one ever mentioned this. I thought I had already tried it actually, but I was wrong. Much appreciated.
Okay, apparently it was only a partial fix. If wifi is enabled, the web browser just defaults to using that (obviously). When I disabled wifi and loaded a webpage while calling the phone, the call went to voicemail after 2 rings and never showed up on my phone.
I've never had this happen before. I've only seen this after flashing everything required to root the phone. It's not a huge deal but it baffles me. I guess when you're not on 3G, it only allows data through if both voice and data are trying to transfer at the same time.

Can't Use Data While On a Call

I seem to be having issues using Data when I'm on a call. I'm on T-mobile in San Francisco running 2.2.1. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to remedy this?
Contrary to T-Mobile's position that I can do data while on a call, I typically have the same issue as you. I've only been able to get online a few times while on a call. Usually there's no data connection available.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
You can only use data during a call when you see the little 3g symbol at the top near your signal bars. If it shows E, then you can't.
I am not sure if the problem has anything to do with being on T-Mobile. I'm in India & I have observed that on all versions of android, there seems to be a problem in following cases :-
1. Making a call while an sms is being sent out. Try it, and your sms would be returned undelivered & call would not get through. You'll have to reboot the phone to make it work again.
2. Try making a call while data transfer is on. It fails.
3. If some one calls you while data transfer is on, he gets a busy tone.
I started off on my Nexus One with 2.1 & I'm currently on 2.2. My friend who owns a galaxy s and is on 2.1 also has the same problems.
None of these problems existed on my nokia e90.

1. Never tried, but happened to receive calls with SMS being sent. Worked.
2. Works fine.
3. Works fine. Moreover, I happen to use a lot of tethering, and tether for hours while talking on the phone - calling people and getting calls.
I guess it's your carrier to blame, not the OS and not the phone(s).
To the OP: as everyone said and will say in this thread, watch for your connection. Having 3G signal is a requirement.

You must be in a 3G area for simultaneous voice and data.

i dont get those errors, and i've specifically tested making a call while transferring data, and many combinations of that.
i have never, though, tried the sms send and call test. i'll have to try that out.
anyway, the nexus one can use data during a phone call on the 3G network. if you are connected to EDGE then it will not work and the data will pause.
My phone does show a 3G signal and I still can't do it. I know that T-Mobile throttle the speed. Do you think it has to do with throttling?

it must be some isolated case with your spcific sim card or something. when connected to 3g you absolutely should be getting simultaneous voice and data, its very well know. not sure what else you could do.
This is weird. Ive always been able to get simultaneous voice and data. Never had a problem.

[Q] Can't Make calls on Verizon, all of a sudden.

I'm on Verizon, and I have a Nexus 6 I bought through Verizon. My service was constantly dropping out, and sometimes just showed as no SIM in the last few days. But today, I found I was unable to recieve data at one point, even though I had a few bars of service. Then, I was unable to make calls. I also can't hang up after starting a call, I just get stuck in Hanging up. I don't know if I can receive calls at the moment, but is anyone having this issue? Better yet, has anyone had and solved this issue?
I was on AOSiP with Hellz Kernel, and thoght that my ROM may be the issue. I've since reflashed ROMs and kernels with loads of full wipes, all to no avail.
This might be the reason,

your not alone
This just started happening to me a few hours ago on Verizon as well. It happened out of no where and I haven't found any solutions after searching for a few hours.

'Emergency calls only' signal drop outs on recently updated phone to EVA- L09C40B364

Hello,
My P9 (which was bought from O2 UK that I use on GiffGaff) recently received the Nougat update. Before this update my phone worked absolutely fine with no issues with either wifi or mobile signal. Since this update however, my wifi signal is significantly weaker than it was before, but more annoyingly, my phone is CONSTANTLY dropping signal.
I cannot say how often this drop out occurs, as sometimes there will be only a minute or so between drops, and at others much longer. The drop outs themselves can last from as little as 5 seconds to 30+ seconds.
Before we go on, my girlfriend has a P9 Lite (also from O2 running on Giffgaff) which has not been updated yet and she experiences none of the same issues that I do. Her phone will be at full signal whilst my phone next to hers will be on 'Emergency Calls Only'. Again, I never had these issues prior to this update (I believe I updated the phone on Thursday or Friday night).
Additionally I am having loads of issues with notifications which no longer seem to appear, my main concern however is the signal issues.
What can I do?
Thanks,
Sammy.
After this update I'd a lot of problems of connectivity until I realized that my phone wasn't able to read its own IMEI number. Check it on settings->about your phone
I followed some of the tutorials about installing Nougat with no problems and I got to fix it.

Thanks, I checked and it appears my phone has no issues with reading the IMEI number, so that doesn't seem to the be the problem.
What exactly did you do to resolve your connectivity issues?
Thanks

Question Rn10 pro keeps randomly restarting after custom rom installation

I flashed my Redmi note 10 pro (global) a month ago and installed pixel experience then switched to Xiaomi.eu and both were working fine
, I then switched to MSMextended first blood and had a billion bugs(not receiving or sending sms, apps crashing, restarting after calls, etc..)
, after many failed Installations and buggy versions I managed to fix all of the bugs and installed derpfest v12 and everything is working properly except the random restarts and especially after missed calls the phone randomly reboots
I tried everything but this bug kept appearing in every custom rom I had so far and I can't see why
Any help is greatly appreciated bec I can't use my phone like this

I too experiencing same thing after custom rom installation. To be more specific, First I installed PE 12 on my Asus max pro M2. I thought it was due to notification. So I disabled every notification. It seems to work for sometime, but the problem starts again. I thought it was ROM problem(Actually it was first time I flashed custom rom). So, This time I clean flashed new voltage OS rom. Again it has same problem. But randomly I observed that whenever I am in same signal eg only on 4G, the phone doesn't reboot. Whenever the phone changes from one signal to other( Eg 2G TO 3G OR TO 4G) it restarts. Yesterday, I locked it only on 2G. Since then I have not experienced any Random restarts. I think it is something to do it Carrier or Google Carrier service or anything.
JUST LOCK IT IN ANY ONE SIGNAL.

Yes that's exactly it, whenever I'm on 4g and get a call it switches from 4g to 2g to make the call and then back it restarts, I have dual Sims so I'll leave one on 4g and lock the other on 2g and try this, ty

If you got any solution for this, let me know
I have faced this issue when I use Network signal guru to change network bands(Jio 4G) for better connection on a couple of custom roms on my moto g6. Fortunately it didn't happen anywhere else. Just bought Redmi note 10 pro, fingers crossed when I flash custom rom.

THANK YOU!!
I was basically desperate after trying literally everything I could think of and like 5 different custom roms, but finally it's your solution that fixed it.
I have 2 Sims and Ik one of the carriers has a problem with 4g in my phone even on stock, once I set that one to 2g and the other 4g it hadn't restarted since
So ty
