Coming from Samsung, I'm finding the Google contacts list pretty lame. What are you guys using that is well organized and smooth?

I replaced the the stock people, dialer, & messaging programs with Dialer+, Contacts+, & Messages +. All primarily because the dialer opens to the quick dial screen which auto-populates with frequent and recent callers rather than what I want.

Moto G 2015- Email Address Added As Contacts

Hi, some inconvenients with lollipop
Hello, i was a jellybean user for 2 years, i recently got a moto g 2015 lollipop and have some issues, related to the lollipop so i assume this is the right place even if it is for motog 2014.
theres 3 issues i can't figure out,
1) I have to add a goggle account to the android for it to work with everything right? i mean, the PlayStore app and ****.
For that, i have always used a hotmail address ive had for years which is linked to youtube, facebook etc..
But this lollipop, decided to add a single contact entry for each and all of the emails ive emailed with that account.
Its effin annoying. So i deleted all the contacts I didn't want there, and went to settings-accounts and disabled its SYNC
on that hotmail address. I did that yesterday, and today all the email address contacts were added again today. Wtf
I don't want to create a new clean email account just for the android because I do want my youtube subscriptions alerts.
So what to do?
2) On my previous android device, the jellybean, If i want to delete a whole bunch of contacts. I could check a box next to each of a contact, and select a whole lot, then just hit a DELETE button. In lollipop, the only way is to manually go by one by one of the contacts. select contact, select its details, hit delete. thats a 3click process for ONE contact. I mean. wtf are these guys thinking? Is there a workaround for this?
3) Last but not least. Say i got a missing call on the call registry. And i want to send a message either SMS or whatsapp to that number. In jellybean I could hit the send message button and it would ask me if I wanted to SMS or Whatsapp. AND VOILA. write the message to the number and send it.
In lollipop, theres no message button to numbers that aren't in your contact list. WTF .. I have to add that number to contacts. And then, a send text message button appears next to the name but it only works for SMS, no whatsapp. If i want to whatsapp that number, i'd need open whatsapp and search that newly added entry thru 200 contacts.
i mean seriously. what the **** are these developers thinking.
Sorry for rant. Hope someone has some solutions

Hmmmm I completely understand all the issues and they're all kind of related to the Contacts app on STOCK Lollipop ( stock in caps because its just a truth that skinned versions of Android actually do a better job in their respective dialer and contacts apps or at least that's my experience) and what I've personally done to alleviate some of my contacts issues is to use Contacts+ from the play store. It merges all of your contacts with similar traits etc instead of having 5 different contacts for emails that should be grouped to their respective contact. It also has good organization features. I personally have it set to only show contacts with phone numbers. You can play around with the app and see if you like it. Its also a messaging app and a dialer so an all in one app but I prefer to use it as a contacts app only since I have better alternatives for the others. Check it out. Maybe it'll help and this is not a promo Lol its just that I've personally dealt with this and heard of contacts + and here we are.

yes i wondered right after writing this thread there would be an app and i tried that one.
its good, not the best, but definetly better. ill definetly keep it as my primary dial and contact app . thanks for reply.

How do I use Nova Laucnher with Funtouch OS 9.1?

Ive been using the Nex 3 for a little over a week and im finding funtouch OS harder to work with than it was on the Nex S. For starters, I can use 3rd party launchers. I can download Nova, set it up but, whenever I use the navigation gestures to get home, I am brought back to the stock launcher. I am also having an issue with the app Mei SMS. Whenever I download it, it only displays the numbers of my contacts and never their icons or names. Now whenever I try to work around this, I cant even verify my device. Anyone know whats going on?

You need to register for vivo account and to do that you need Chinese number. In another words you can’t change default launcher unless you have vivo account.

I can say that this is not really true. I just changed my launcher without any chinese number. Check the other topic here where I posted a few notes on how to get that account up and running on your phone without a chinese number. Then I also found a tutorial how to change your launcher, and one important note there is that on the page in settings where you can toggle "Allow the launcher to be replaced" one must not forget to switch OFF "Tap the home button to lock the system home screen", otherwise Vivo's launcher is still stuck to your homebutton.
Reboot, and off you go!

It was super easy to register an account without chinese number using their global page to create an account with only email adress. Only a few details easy to miss in the process like described above. I now have Niagara Launcher running flawlessly on my phone.

Vivo launched their global account program awhile ago. When my vivo nex 3 arrives I'll try to sign in and see if I can set Nova and everything like I did on the nex s

How do you do that I've got an account created but don't get an option to login using email it asks for contact number.

Click on the greyed out text just above the login and password fields to switch to email login.

WhatsApp contact name not shown

My k20 pro was updated to the latest version, Miui 12.0.2 . Now when I use the WhatsApp, instead of showing the name of my contacts, it shows only the numbers. I checked the permission of the apps and the contact list is on. MIUI Optimization is turn off, to use galaxy wearable app. I have sync the WhatsApp in the setting, WhatsApp contact name appeared but after few hours it will revert back to number. How can i solve this issue?

I had a similar issue on 9T.
Try by opening Contacts, Settings, More and take Rebuild index data

Question Phone app to show business names

Hi all,
I was wondering if there's any option to enable to show names of businesses for incoming or outgoing calls. I know this option is there on Google phone apk and also on OnePlus'. Anyway of getting this on S21U?

It is on oneplus because oneplus use google dialer.

It does for me too in the UK. They have to be registered business with Google.

I think oneplus has a modded version of the dialer. It's not exactly the Google dialer.

Guys, does samsung dialer shows business names that are registered on Google?

You should be able to obtain a modded Google dialer.. can't see why it wouldn't work..
I'm using an AOSP based ROM with the dialer and it's fine.
Are there any AOSP or pixel experience ROM's?
Both should have it

My Samsung dialler picks up business names, whether its as good as Google dialer I'm not sure.

I'm in the US.

Yes the default phone app does, in fact I dialled the number of a local gardening centre today and it showed the business name and I know they are registered as a business on google.

My US 10+ does it with some businesses with Google play Services disabled.
If they're in your contacts they will show as such, obviously.
I really don't want Gookill tracking and indexing my activities. Fk the $hit... shut them down.
