Question outlook , Secure folder issue - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

anther issue am suffering from them after updating to Android 12
Secure folder cant open it and it contain many important files
Outlook keep crashing and never open even i delete it and reinstall it again
S21 ultra Exy. version

At this point with all the issues surrounding Android 12 it would be wise to hold off upgrading until it's been stabilized. The defects are outweighing any real advantages.

[Q] HTC Notes breaking... any possibility of recovery (?)

Hello Folks,
I'm fairly new to Android and my HTC One (4.4.2).
I've been having a semi-frequent problem with taken notes breaking: I believe the first two times occurred after respective system updates, and shame on me (I suppose).
However the third, and most recent occurrence, appeared to occur without any prompting (that I can tell)... and I now have a number of useful notes - and one that's quite important - that are ostensibly inaccessible.
The only thing that I clearly recall doing, prior, was to disable what I believed were non-essential applications (Dropbox, Facebook, Twitter and an asian font app) and clear respective caches. I did not touch any running application, nor application that was explicitly or implicitly known. I did not clear any cache that wasn't explicitly known.
Is there explanation for this behaviour? Would Notes have any non-explicit dependencies on other apps or their caches?
Most importantly: how can I avoid this occurring again, and can I recover these broken notes?
I've attempted to locate the notes using Windows Explorer in tandem with ES File Explorer on my phone, and I've noticed an odd discrepancy: Windows Explorer (Computer\HTC One\Internal storage\storage\emulated\0\.data\HtcNotes\) shows one note folder (.1407123984759), and if I navigate to the same folder using File Explorer (\storage\emulated\0\.data\HtcNotes) I see something entirely different (.1407357402157).
Again, I'm new to this...
Any help or insight would be appreciated! Thanks!

Huawei Private Space vs Samsung Secure Folders: how do they compare?

A few questions on Huawei Private Space vs Samsung Secure Folders
As per the subject, I’d like to understand how the two compare. I have a Samsung and am considering getting the Huawei P20 Pro. I have found a broad description of Private Space in this manual: https://www.devicemanuals.eu/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/P20-user-guide-EN.pdf
However, there are a few things I haven’t understood:
With Samsung Secure Folders, not all apps are immediately available: you have to manually select which ones you want to be made available and ‘reinstall’ them within Secure Folders. Does Private Space work the same way? Or does it immediately give you access to a ‘blank’ version of all your apps?
If it’s the latter, does Huawei provide an isolated sandbox like Samsung, or how do the two differ? The way I understand it, if you move Chrome to Secure Folders and then run it, you are not running the same executable file, but the one you have installed in the sandbox. With Huawei, are you running the same executable but then data is stored in a separate folder, eg the way a program is available to multiple users on the same PC?
Do the two offer a comparable level of protection and isolation, or is one of the two much better (if so, why?)? For example, if you download a file from a private space browser session, is it available outside of it? With the third-party app Parallel Space it is, for example https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lbe.parallel.intl&hl=en_GB .
Does the Huawei thing work if you already have a work app to access work email set up as device administrator? This is what prevents Island from working on my Samsung, for example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.island&hl=en_GB
Thanks!
SF vs PS
I used SF on Galaxy and since recently use PS on Mate 20 Pro, and a bit disappointed with PS, so looking for a better way of using it and see this thread which nobody seems to answer (?)
Both need to install selected apps, which is fine for me. However while SF is a space that can be used in parallel/concurrent with the normal space, PS is likely to create another user profile with encrypted data (true?), so it must be used exclusively.
However, switching from one mode to another is a pain with PS: needs long step (turn off screen then login, or long steps in setting); SF allows to be used in parallel (so same time) with main space (out of SF) and can quickly access the SF apps per task list. This is good, as we used the app in normal space but for certain data and apps we need to be in encrypted mode or protected with separated password/lock. PS can't do so, it must get out of PS to use normal mode and vice-versa, a pain for me, unless we have to install many more apps in PS as well, but then it will be redundance with normal space.
Another negative point with PS is app notification from PS, for instance, if we setup WhatsApp or another messenger in PS (or email? not tested) which use another account than the ones in main space. While we are in main space, the notification of new message in PS won't be shown so impossible to know that's there is new message. It's not a case with SF: notification still pass out of SF that we know to switch to SF to read, quickly, by task list for instance.
Data sharing or moving in out is not optimal from my viewpoint. Both work on main memory only, SF move in/out but limited number of files at a time, a pain if you have many files; PS... hum, the only way I find is thru obb folder, but this sounds to share and be visible to other users on this phones as well!!!! It is likely a Public folder rather than only for this user within both mode PS and non PS. Also, SF can be customised in setting to enable/disable clipboard between 2 areas while PS can't which is a pain too.
By the way, both SF and PS allow fingerprint to access this private space, but fingerprint is a joke for me (easily to hack) and I would not recommend it unless for temporarily use. I like the face recognisation (with eyes, a must, otherwise it's a weakness) mode of M20P, unfortunately this does not work in PS mode!
Samsung Secure Folder lacks multiple instance feature
Samsung's Secure Folder is more user friendly in term of ease of use than Stock android version of multiple user feature.
copying and moving files, opening app from the interface of main phone without logout and login another user like Stock android multiple user mode.
android's multiple user feature is shipped with some android devices, but others like Samsung just replace this feature with it's secure folder.
The biggest drawback of Samsung's Secure Folder is not possible to have multiple instance of it. you can only have one such Folder per phone.
every not fully trusted android app should run in an isolated space like Secure folder, and should offer some high level of control like, suspending(like power off), giving mock GPS, mock IMEI, IMSI etc.

Question MIUI FILE MANAGER PAINFULLY SLOW

Device: Redmi Note 10 Pro, Indian version, out of box, no tweaks, MIUI Global 12.5.2
What I've tried: Factory reset x3 , clear data, clear cache, update
(TL;DR: MIUI File Manager taking an eternity to open folders and display files, cannot transfer files from first space to second space)
I hope this post abides by all the rules of this forum. I am writing this with a sense of urgency. I recently switched from Redmi Note 5 Pro to Redmi Note 10 Pro. It's been 2 days. Everything's working fine, except two major issues, the first one bigger than the second.
1. The default out of box MIUI File Manager. It's painfully slow. It's taking 5 full minutes to refresh(the landing screen), and 5 full minutes to load the contents of a folder (one which has 10,000 images). I also tried Files, Solid Explorer, they are only slightly faster. Bringing me to my question, what is the problem specifically? Is it a software issue or a hardware issue? Is it a read/write issue? Only other instance of someone else facing this issue was this . Please help a brother out. Is anyone else facing this issue? My Redmi Note 5 Pro is opening the same folder contents in a jiffy (barely 2 seconds), and all Redmi Note 10 Pro is doing is frustrating me by taking 5 minutes to open a folder which has just photos. What use is AMOLED, 120Hz, and Snapdragon 732G when it can't open folders which Snapdragon 636 breezes by?
2. Cannot transfer files from first space to second space anymore? Only apps? Redmi Note 5 Pro allows for transfer of files from first space to second space. Why doesn't Redmi Note 10 Pro?
Should I put in a request for replacement? I don't want to delay it any more, unless need be.
Edit: Problem occurs while accessing folders out of internal storage. The refreshing of the landing page of the File Manager nevertheless takes time. Accessing SD card works fine.
I would suggest you to flash a custom rom. If you want better speed, battery, stability, ram management, etc, install a custom rom. I recommend Arrow os.

Not a huge fan of custom roms. MIUI does it for me. I've set it in such a way that I don't get the pesky side of things. I need MIUI for the functionality. Second space, dual apps et all.
All of those can be done in a custom rom. But if you want to stick with MIUI, I respect your decision. But I cant help you with your issue. Maybe you can try on xiaomi reddit, xiaomi forum, or directly contact them.
Edit: also see if any system update is available.

I've ran all the updates. No improvements. Posted it on reddit (got a few responses: some are facing, some aren't), xiaomi forum (no replies yet). Last option, yes, I would directly contact them. However I was interested in knowing the technical side of things in order to not get blindsided by them. Whether it's a hardware issue, wherein there are problems with read/write, problems pulling up data from Internal Storage or whether a software bug. Because it's not just File Managers that's not working, no other file manager seems to work as well. Only Google Files works slightly faster.
Because I'm pretty sure they'll make me go through the same cycle of factory reset, clear data, clear cache, update.

I would flash stock miui via pc and if it's not really faster in internal memory then make a warranty request.
If it's on external sd then may a problem with file system and or some files

I'll do that. Flash stock miui via pc. And yes, it's on internal memory only. Loading files in SD card works fine. It's the refreshing of the landing page and opening folders in the internal memory that takes an awful amount of time.

SM-T719 is this app a virus or malicious

I have a Galaxy Tab S2 SM-T719, running Android 7, not rooted
I am generally pretty careful about the sites that I visit, but yesterday, a BBC app appeared, see attached screenshot
I am concerned about this because:
1) I do not recall installing it
2) I already have the official BBC app - which has a red background
3) When I select the App, there is no uninstall option
4) It does not appear in my list of Apps under Settings
5) It does not appear in 'My Apps and Games' in Playstore
6) I can not find this via a search on Playstore
Can anyone shed any light on this or suggest how I can remove it
Thanks for reading and any help
Search Google for that image.
Malicious jpeg that are downloaded can cause mischief in the folder they are in. They must be deleted! They will corrupt a database.
Don't move anything out of the download folder for now! Check for changes and any downloads you didn't do. Scan with Malwarebytes; it may find something but not necessarily all of what's there.
Treat all data on the device as infected for now; backup data but quarantine it from other Androids* and backup drives. Place backups on preferably on standalone OTG flashsticks or hdds.
Backup all critical data, NOW if not already done!!!
It may be a malicious app or trojan preloader manage to breach the browser. If the right conditions were met it may have install a rootkit or virus. If so it must be completely erraticate.
Again check the download folder. If in doubt delete entire it's content.
If you can't find and purge the infection, factory reset. Change all passwords after the reload.
Don't goof around if an infection is suspected. Take the device offline, now.
No time to dilly-dally Mr Wick, tik-toc...
After the reset if done be careful when adding your old data as it may be laced with a malicious file. Install only trusted apps. Keep trashware like WhatsApp, FB, Twitter, etc off of it.
*it's unlikely to cross infect a Windows system but best to isolate the data as much as possible to avoid rude surprises. Treat as infected until proven clean.
Blackhawk
Thanks for your suggestions
This may just spur me onto doing a LineagOS installation if I can resolve a couple of queries - posted here
LineageOS Installation queries
I would like to prolong the life of my Tab S2 SM-T719 (8 inch LTE, 2016), which is running Android 7, not rooted I have done a fair bit of reading through the various threads, but I have a couple of questions about the install - apologies if...
forum.xda-developers.com
It sounds like it might be best to do the factory reset and then do the installation
You're welcome.
If you're running Android 8 or lower a reflash may be needed if it got infected with that "immortal" rootkit that can hide on multiple partitions.
Apparently there is now a way to remove the dreaded Xhelper.
Be aware of this little nasty... check for it.
Android 9 and higher are immune to this one.

Question Gallery force closing in latest 21.12.8 EU weekly

The gallery force closes on the latest weekly. I cleared cache and data. Unsure what else I should do. Please help.
Updates gallery and gallery edtior in getapps chinese(orange mi bag logo).
mine work normal without any updates
dear archer, im a data scientist from western europe managing large darabases and analysing data structures especially on mobile phones. first of all let me say, i try to handle your request in english. hopefully no misunderstandings.
there are several data mechanics "build in" in xiaomi devices, which are programmed to extract as much data as possible, while the user by itself should not be able to manage those data in a certain way. however by importing those models to other parts of the world, they need a round up but xiaomi failed to provide a total fix of their rom guided to western world data privacy rules. (privacy rules variates from country to country)
here we go.
gallery has build in features to track and collect as much as it can and even if indicated to store it hidden on parrellel partitions and storage sectors. while upgrading (or downgrading) your rom and rom features by ota or several further update options it may happen that those unwanted data services from miui rom and its "specific" features causes applications to misbeheviour. thats related to some android key essentials and is not caused by you in most common reasons. particularily the users will notify by strange force closes or empty data sets shown up or even unwanted data appeares to be collected to storage visible to everybody.
to fix this you should rather run custom rom(with mostly less over all security components, very sadly) or look out for a stock rom stable precisivly modified to fit but hard to find. you eventually buy another mobile. in this particular case try to manually back up your third party data u want to keep, save your accounts and stuff, make sure you do not loose any important provider settings and just change release. i would recommend you to look for another mobile.
more informations probably soon but please keep in mind, strange things going on with our data cannot tell you guys much more actually right now hopefully soon.
