Either via Android or TWRP, the latest firmware downloaded from asus site fails to install. Anyone else experiencing this?
Currently on 17.0823.2009.99
Tried 18.0410.2108.158 and 18.0410.2109.172 so far, both failed. Using TWRP, I enable Zip signature verification and they both failed the check.
Edit: So I updated TWRP and zip signature passed. I was able to install the latest update, installed TWRP to other slot, rebooted and installed magisk. But now, when booting, it's stuck on ROG Logo with a loading bar that just keeps loading. Is this bad? Or does it just take a very long time to boot after update?
Also curios about this. I have the Asus Rog Phone 3 Strix Edition on Android 10 Firmware WW_17.0822.2005.11 and trying to update with file UL-ASUS-I003_1-ASUS-18.0.410.2109.172-1.1.5-user.zip but i get Update Failed pretty quick after hitting the OK on update found.
My phone has some freezes that annoy me and this is the reason I would opt for an update also the OTA updates never arrived from what I can recall.
PS: I see on Asus website that they have an unlock tool as well as an APK file, do I need that in anyway ?

Hi everybody,
currently the Lenovo K3 Note runs with Android 5.0 K50a40_S121_150813_ROW (Kao-Alpha2).
OTA provides K50a40_S121_150813_ROW_TO_K50a40_S322_160314_ROW but when downloading the update and confirming the installation phone ends up in TWRP without any further action. I can try to search the downloaded file and install it from TWRP but I did not find it.
When trying to update this file from TWRP by renaming it to update.zip and moving it to the phone update fails with message: unmount of /data failed (-1): Invalid argument script aborted: This package is for "Lenovo K50a40" devices; this is a "Lenovo K3 Note" Error executing updater binary in zip ... Error installing zip file
Does anybody know why this is failing?
Additionally I found within web K50a40_S205_151118_ROW_TO_K50a40_S422_160315_ROW.
Now I am puzzled which ROM version is the correct one? Does anybody by chance know? Could not yet find any information regarding this topic within WWW.
Also I am struggling to get into TWRP by myself. When phone is off and I press volume up and power key I only end up in chinese ROM where I cannot read anything. Can I install OTA version from there? And how can I get into TWRP if wanted?
There are no enhanced reboot menu options and key combination mentioned only brings chinese recovery version up.
Any help appreciated.
Bye
The OTA package can be installed by stock recovery only.
To update the rom using twrp you have to download the full rom.

Use flashify from play store to get into twrp it has option to reboot into recovery
Thanks for your responses.

But TWRP recovery does not work for installing the OTA update! Is there any way to get into stock recovery which is english (I could enter into some stock mode after switching on - but its chinese only)?
If your rooted and have twrp then follow this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/k3-note/development/official-build-lenovo-k3-note-k50a40-6-t3370537.
If not rooted use KingRoot on PC it worked for me

Thank you (and sorry for that very late reply). I finally managed to install ROM from above mentioned link (was no prio task for quite a long time).
Unfortunately SMS is gone (not existing within that ROM) and not OTA update is shown.
In addition I also cannot install the downloaded OTA version - the same error still occurs: "This package is for "Lenovo K50a40" devices; this is a "Lenovo K3 Note" Error executing updater binary in zip" => so installing the Stock variant from mentioned thread did not help unfortunately!
Is the version from above link already the lastest one? Any ideas, hints, etc.?

Would be happy to help, could you describe what you've done to update? Have you tried downloading the 8.0.11.0 ROM and installing it using the Updater app?
Best
J
Sent from my MIX using XDA Labs
Updater shows something like couldn't verify update. I downloaded every rom from first link. From 8.0.8.0 to 8.11
I downloaded on my pc. Connected phone via usb ( MTP ) then i copy downloaded zip to the phone. Updater, choose update package, zip and .... cant verify update
I put device on recovery mode. On recovery screen i had webpage http://zhushou.xiaomi.com/ Downloaded app and get update. Now im on 8.0.11.0
PlayStore had Error RH-01
Can someone tell me what is going on here ? What sould i do now ?
i have the fi - android one phone. it is unlocked and rooted with magisk. last nite i was prompted for march update. it failed. i then realized i could get the update by having magisk patch back the images to default and then after the update put back magisk patched images. i no longer get the notification on the upgrade and it shows current. i tried to reset via clearing configupdater in apps and still nothing.
is there any way to force the ota updater to give me another try ? i believe i could re flash this version and not erase user data and then maybe get the update and reinstall magisk, but i'd rather not go that route as i spent some time getting my gpay to work etc. thanks if anyone knows.

I don't think there is a way around flashing the stock firmware first.
Same phone. I would suggest flashing the latest firmware (edit the flash-all to disable the userdata wipe). The phone should take the update at this point.

You can flash either Fi or Retail, as they are interchangable.

yeah, that is method i was referring in my post. i am looking to do the update because fi has sort of said this update should correct this problem on x4. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-X...to-X4-quot-Invalid-SIM-Card-quot/td-p/4308420 but i don't want to have to reset/add my credit cards in gpay because banks are calling because i have added or attempted so many times trying to get gpay and magisk to work. so i was hoping to do this method which should keep everything as is with magisk: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/blob/master/docs/tutorials.md that was what i was wondering. i got this phone recently from google and have it doing everything i want except the fluid carrier switching. probably best i wait a few weeks. thanks for the reply
just a quick update, maybe it helps someone. i did get the new march update on the phone. i did get the update notice eventually. i did try the magisk a/b method but that failed. that left magisk not available as i restored the original image.
i flashed the feb image from mirror from bootloader with no erase of userdata. when that rebooted i got update notice for the same image i had just flashed (feb 2019). i am guessing that is the result of leaving the userdata intact. i let it complete that process and rebooted.
following that install and reboot, i got the notice for the march update and i got a failure which may be because i had the vpn proxy ad blocker (block this) running so i terminated that and uninstalled magisk manager. the update then completed. leaving me on PPW29.69-39-1 patch level march 1, 2019. this is a fi phone.
rebooted and reinstalled magisk manager. i had to install magisk (canary) from bootloader using twrp img. everything seems the way it was with nothing lost, my gpay cards are still there i don't know whether or not gpay will work in stores yet.
this issue where fi pops up invalid sim has gone away so i am hopeful the fi switching issue has been resolved on this phone
Where did you get magisk canary?
I went back to Feb stock to install the March update. Now when I try fastboot boot twrp image, it just sits there "sending" nothing happens.

magisk canary is here https://github.com/topjohnwu/magisk_files/tree/master/canary_builds use release.zip. i had this on my external mem card because twrp can break encryption on internal storage.
i did : 1. magisk uninstall in app by replacing image 2. from fastboot/bootloader flash rom from mirror don't erase user data. 3. reboot 4. get march update (in my case i got same feb, installed and rebooted then got march update 5. reboot to bootloader boot from twrp.img, install magisk zip off of memory card. 6. reboot install magisk apk. i am sure this is a ymmv but this is what worked on mine.
i saw an update on Redmi Note 8T (11.0.9).
I'm rooted with TWRP, so I just tried to update. New update was downloaded into directory downloaded_rom.
phone was automatically rebooted into TWRP, but I didnt know there is update in that directory. I just rebooted device into system.
I got a message that update failed. I click update and started to look for file/folder created during download process. So i discovered directory downloaded_rom in root folder.
phone was automatically rebooted into recovery (twrp) and it was flashing update without my help.
after reboot, device was updated. the only thing to do was flash TWRP (i have paid version of TWRP) and flash magisk.
everything works fine and my phone is rooted on 11.0.9.
i thing, that second file was whole ROM (1.9GB)
in my personal experience, if you get rebood to twrp, flash Disable Dm Verity ForceEncrypt to boot into rom

Was Magisk installed before the update? Since you are saying it rebooted to TWRP without you knowing, were you able to restore stock images before updating? Could you also provide information concerning the update? For example, miui version (updating from vXXX to vXXX)

What I meant was whether you uninstalled Magisk/restored original boot img prior to the update because sometimes not doing so tends to result in bootloop (happened to me before). I needed some information before I attempt the update myself. Thank you for replying.
P.S. One more question: All data was preserved, right?
So i just Got the REALME UI 2.0 update via System Updater and i downloaded is IMMEDIATELY.
But when i tried to install it via ORANGEFOX RECOVERY. It gave me error saying "this Package is for RMX1931L1" and couldnt install on this device.
Can please someone explain what it means, and how can i install this package.
EDIT. 1 : First i installed unofficial TWRP
than i installed C.38 ozip to get Stock recovery than i Relocked Bootloader (which wiped everything internal memory and everything) than i rebooted and checked for update. Got the A11 update downloaded it and Flashed it.
And now i am on A11 stock Locked bootloader and Working Fine.
BTW i live in INDIA
I think you're going to hard brick your device if you've got the bl unlocked and try to flash the official update through OrangeFox. My suggestion is to move the ota file to your pc, relock the bootloader if you're on rui1.0, then move the file and flash it clean, with the bl locked.
How did you even get the update, where do you live?
