Hey everybody on d XDA Forum. I recently sold my Xperia U for this S3 LTE. I receive uograde to 4.3 but after i upgrade the battery life very bad. I need a way to solve this. If not i go back to xperia u and no more samsung for cause same thing happen to me with galaxy y
I noticed too an higher battery drain since the update... I tried to freeze all samsung bloatware, to block system sync but it's nowhere near the screen time I could get under 4.1.2
See multiple posts and see 4.3 battery post above this one .
It's a problem many people are facing...
Well, this a problem apmost every smartphone user is facing nowadays. While Smartphones have gotten better and faster with the passage of time, the battery lives have gotten worse.
But male sure to turn off Wifi,Bluetooth,GPS,3G/LTE when not using them.
Using apps like Greenify and battery doctor may help improve battery life as well.
I oppened a thread about this battery issue. It seems like this drain is given to samsung blot apps, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2615463
Battery drain caused by different issues different apps installed by different users. Install greenify and wakelock checker and u will know what apps are using or running in the background. For me it was mx player once. Then i reflashed another rom it was facebook and activesync email. So trial amd error urself. Thousands are saying battery is better then 4.1.2 so cant be the rom. Cheers

:good:agreed. Betterbatterystats & wakelock detector can really helps to find the drain problem. Then, use greenify & tasker. Nice combo.
Hey I have it with media server keeping my wife's i9305 awake.
After searching a bit. We found that it was ext SD. We formatted the card and it seemed good for a day. Now its back.
She has the dbt German official 4.3
Anyone having that issue? If not what firmware did you use to get to 4.3

happened to me before. Instead of disabling media scanner system app, you can install Rescan Media app by aditya.

Hi guys,
so i newly setup my phone recently with OOS 4.0.3 in order to have a clean phone for the most efficient use.
For my surprise, for the first time using the 3T my energy efficiency was very good, i managed to get 4,5h SOT with the first 50% because i had almost no drain when the screen was turned off.
I attached the screenshots.
Basically, i just flashed OOS 4.0.3 and the newest franco kernel and magisk for root. I didnt use greenify (which i usually do), just the strict standby option in the android settings.
So far so good, but now to the part i cant understand.
I installed gsam battery monitor and gave it root access, so i can have detailed battery information.
From that point, i experienced again the standby drain combined with wakelooks, as u can see in the screenshot starting around 60% of the battery.
So far i uninstalled the app, i used greenify, but i cant get back when i had no wakelocks.
Is it really because of Gsam Battery? How can get away the standby drain without setting up the phone completely new?
PS: I also deactivated some of the access rights of apps, especially for play services.
Is it possible that they regain the access by themselves or that google play services is draining the battery

Don't deactivate app rights of play services. It would break the functionality randomly and u won't know what happened. Just enable and reboot. Next time something happens, check the stat in gsam battery monitor. It's a good app and I am using it from 3 years.
It's not gsam I've had it installed on every phone for years and I always get amazing battery life.
I dont use google apps at all besides gmail and maps sometimes. But ill try around if it makes a difference.
I also cant believe that GSAM really is the problem there, but i didnt change anything else, i was just surprised of the good battery life and wanted to see the characteristics of battery statistics when i have a normal standby drain.
And immediatelly from that point on, the standby drain changed as u can see on the screenshots, even after uninstalling GSAM.
I now get 2h SOT with 50%, not 4,5.
So, is it possible that anything influencing that is changing by itself?
I didnt install any app or changed any setting, all i use was setted up in the beginning (franco, magisk, viper, all apps)
Yes google play store and google play services if you downloaded it and installed it that way? Google ruins battery life very randomly. If you restored a titanium backup or sideloaded the app then I have no clue. Even if you didnt do anything different there are a ton of things that can go wrong with android in the background. Recharge and reboot and start over.

tried everything already + wiping cache/dalvik
I just now wiped also system and dirty flashed the ROM + the stuff i need. Ill see it that solves the deal.
I just cant accept to not have the control over my phone as thats one of the advantages of rooting. I got the same battery life with same usage with my 2,5 year old OnePlus One.
I run the same apps on every phone and this phone has doubled the performance and battery compared to my nexus 6 note 5 and nexus 6p. First phone I've owned that actually sleeps when I turn off the screen.

The OPO with CM back then was a dream.
Are u using any apps or adjust settings in order to tweak that behavior?

I've been on CM13 since the day it came out Dec 11th. I was getting amazing battery and standby on stock since I got the phone late November. I use xposed for tweaking everything but no modules or apps or settings for battery savings.

I found 4.0.3 would get wakelocks from location service. I have installed firmware from OOS 3.5.4 and used Leandroid, since then I've had my old battery life back.

I like that app, but its only fully functional with SuperSU. Do u know if there is any similar app also working with Magisk?

I know, but the app still asks for root permission with SuperSU for all the foot options

Some parts of it only work with SuperSU, sure. The important bit that fixes the MRa big does unfortunately.
Not found a magisk equivalent, but I'm eager to find one!
I just recently got my 3T two weeks ago running OOS 4.0.3 and I also notice a lot of wakelocks, especially when on mobile data (3G/4G).
I am still tinkering to figure out what are the root causes for wakelocks in this case.
I suggest you install BetterBatteryStats from XDA, it does provide a lot of good info. GSAM is good too but I prefer BBS. You can grant it permissions to Battery_Stats if you are not rooted.
Here are my findings so far:
Google Services likes to access the GPS a lot, so I turned of Location History. This resulted in fewer wakelocks when the screen is off.
I have changed the GPS and set it to GPS Only so that it doesn't use the cell towers and WiFi to help determine a location. I am not sure if this makes a difference for wakelocks yet.
I know Nougat has doze, I am not sure how well it works...fortunately there is Aggressive Doze in the battery section of the settings. I have not tested this yet but this is something I will look into once I have determined all others aspects that may be causing wakelocks.
I do have the LED notification light enabled and I am using LightFlow to manage it. It works in conjunction with the built-in LED settings from OOS. This is fine, but I do believe this may cause wakelock issues.
Once again, in my experience, I get a lot of wakelocks when I am on mobile data compared to being on WiFi and I am not sure why there is a difference.
Hey Guys,
It's an Exynos 512GB.
Earlier the drain was caused by a wakelock called Job intent delay, Which was sorted after I installed naptime.
I've posted screenshots here from BBS and Gsam both. Can someone help me with the next steps? (which apps to debloat, which services to block)
Just AOD taking all the juice
Yes just disable always on display

Don't get lost in the %'s,they're meaningless w/o the proper context.
If you're getting a full day's use w/o having to top-off,then you don't have a problem.
From the screenshots posted, you're sitting at 88%-89% battery & off the charger for over 10 hrs,I don't see where anything is a "problem"..........

Thanks a ton for the response guys, Here's what's troubling me. -> AOD was off, It was never turned On.
What should I do, Maybe Debloat the APK itself?

Hey, You're absolutely right about that. It was an insufficient sample to begin with. Here's the stats from now.
My concern is why I'm not getting 7h+ wicked SOT like others who post their stats across forum

what about clear cache and Dalvik cache?
try to clear these and then let the phone settle for one day or two
i think you will see improvement
Is there any battery life issue that anyone may have encountered ever since the previous two updates.. my 6000mah battery that used to stay for 2 days minimum has gone to a single day. It's all been after the update and i saw plenty of forums in Asus itself of the same thing.
Reference :- https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/54786/battery-drain-issue-on-rog-3
Anyone got any leads for this?
You're just overthinking. Stop staring at the battery percentage 24/7 and enjoy the damn phone.

You damn right! But how, bro. When u were accustomed to charging ur phone once in two days and you have to subtract 24 hours from that.. it surw changes the usage from a gaming plus daily driver to either one of the lot .. change for the bad questions a lot of stuff

What is your battery usage? Have you tried a factory reset?
What is showing as consuming most power? An optimized debloated ROG 3 with a healthy can go a week on stand-by with data enabled and even longer (no kidding) and easily 2-2.5 days with normal use.
You have to pinpoint what is doing it. It's wearing down your battery as well...

I tried, actually. The thing is i fear the Android system itself. Coz in one of the threads on the Asus website forums, there were people discussing Play Store or Play activities that keep auto restarting and also twin apps.
So for starters i did try to force close play services (can't disable coz of the emails), then battery turned out great. But afterwards it started reducing again. Same with twin apps.
I ain't kidding too. It's supposed to a 2-2.5day phone easily with the 6000mah battery, but for me it's a single day max to max a 12+ (3-4) hour phone

You can also try to use the Naptime app, it forces the phone into Doze when screen is off. Adb access or root is needed
GSAM can also be used to find the culprit
If disabling Goog Play Services stops the issue, it's likely linked to one or more running apps or processes. It's likely not Play Services itself but because one or more other components are making calls to it. Try to review all the running apps & services on your device and selectively disable them and gauge the difference. Apps that do a lot of syncing, using location services, excessive notifications (cloud messaging), Firebase indexing, etc etc.... If you have a good app manager tool, that will make the hunt easier.

Hello everyone!
I recently bought the Samsung A33 5G, but I'm having battery problems and I don't know what it could be.
Using, for example, WhatsApp or Twitter I spend approximately 3% every 5 minutes using Wifi and with the brightness at 20%.
I have monitored the battery with apps like Battery Guru and AccuBattery but I have not seen anything strange. I have also tried to wipe the cache partition from the recovery and repair the apps but it has not improved either. I've also disabled battery optimization (seen it on reddit and some have found it helpful) but it still doesn't get any better. I replaced the phone but the problem persists.
Somebody can help me?
Thank you!
Battery consumption is strongly dependent on the size and type of screen, services used, distance from the GSM mast. There is a long way to go to get your phone to use less battery. For starters, try using a Wi-Fi connection for a while, without using GSM. The next step is to turn off LTE/5G and stay on a slow but less draining 2G/3G battery.
By the way, disable unnecessary services with Debloat Tool, mainly updates and sending notifications by applications that you do not need.
