I had those issues a long time ago when I just got the device.
2 options, flash a custom kernel, really only one but excellent option is kirisakura (may be misspelled).
Or, if you know how, it's better to patch the boot.img of your current kernel with magisk instead of flashing via twrp.
There are plenty of guides in these forums. Search for them.

I have the latest hydrogen OS and unlocked bootloader , and i want to root my phone but i just wants to know if theres any other files I need to flash other than magisk.zip
Nope, just flash the latest magisk zip and it's done. But yes, you also have to install the Magisk Manager when you boot up after flashing the zip.
I installed the latest one that came out today and my phone took a crap! Phone became very laggy and would freeze and sometimes not even detect root. I had to restore my phone back to last weeks version.

Hm... Absolutely no issues on my OP3T, OOS 4.1.6 and Franco Kernel r25 with Magisk v13.1. Maybe you have a module causing issues (long shot, I know)?
No issues here with Open Beta 10, Stock Kernel, Magisk 13.1 and Manager 5.0.4.
Root is working, passes SafetyNet with all modules activated and properly hide root from my Banking App. All good!

Just Simple flash the Magisk v13.1 and install the latest magisk manager v5.0.4.
I feel you should flash magisk immediately, while flashing the ROM through custom recovery. Install magisk manager after first boot.
You can do a dirty flash without formatting anything to get rooted.

Can anyone tell me how to unroot supersu on Mi Max 2?
I'd like to install magisk root instead.
I've already tried to unroot using the option in the app Supersu but it doesn't work (bootlooped) ,
so i've reinstalled the old supersu with TWRP and the phone is working.
1) Miui version 9.5.5.0
2) Last version of TWRP installed
3) Supersu v2.82 installed
4) I want to keep all the data and configuration on the phone
Is it possible?

I use it a few days ago
Just Flash Update-unsu-signed.zip
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4410561&d=1517853382
Then Flash magisk.
I've tried the unsu signed yesterday following the instructions on the XDA post.
Result: bootlooped
Do you really think that if i flash the unsu and immediately after flashing magisk is it going to be ok?
Thank you
Hi there, I have been trying to root my k20 pro for 2 months and I am about to go crazy. First of all I don't want to install xiaomi.eu or other custom roms as they often have bugs. I use the indian version and I ve tried many different versions of magisk and tried both twrp and orange. I also tried disabling the treble enforcement and flashing the patched image but still whatever I do, after the installation, the phone loops back to the twrp page. Can anyone help me solve this?

uhhh just flash magisk if you have twrp
No, it's not impossible. I have a global version Mi 9T Pro and rooted with Magisk.
Find and install the custom recovery that works for you (I found that this recovery worked for me:
TWRP 3.3.1-22 Unofficial by mauronofrio)
then install magisk zip via recovery.
Good luck

I cannot root my phone through TWRP for some reason and I would really like to use my phone with Google Pay.
K20 pro, MIUI Global 11.0.1 unlocked bootloader.
Install Magisk yourself. It will work.
Which zip did you flash? The right version of maiden
Magisk will work.
@XblackdemonX I can't install Magisk since it's giving me an error message. Tried every possible way with no luck
@Turbine1991 I have tried install "twrp-3.3.1-15-raphael-mauronofrio"
After installing it the phone is always going back to Stock rom recovery.

Are you rebooting the device after installing TWRP? If you installed TWRP then rebooted without first trying to install Magisk it'll probably just stick the stock recovery back in place and overwrite TWRP if nothing is done to circumvent stock recovery overwrite. If this doesn't apply then no worries but thought I'd mention it.
That's also an old version of TWRP; have you tried a newer version? I'd say try fastboot boot recovery.img then immediately attempt to install Magisk. You're on MIUI11 so you'll want to go with Magisk 19.3.

You have to install Magisk to prevent the recovery from changing back to stock.
A couple of days ago I manage to unlock the bootloader and boot into Twrp, then I tried to flash the last Magisk version and the phone got stuck in a bootloop. Thankfully I manage to reinstall the rom with Miflash but still no luck with Magisk. I am running the latest global stable. How can I properly install Magisk?
I have latest Global stable 11.0.1.0 indian version (QCNINXM), i can flash the twrp and magisk successfully

This is android 10 problem. Many devices face this problem after magisk install. Try flashing permissiver and vbmeta. It may solve the problem.
