Hi guys! Im a 32 year old veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Im a bit banged up now and no longer able to pursue my previous hobbies and lifestyles, so Im looking for new ones.
An android device of mines was recently hacked, which prompted my journey into android and my stumbling across XDA.
I've started familiarizing myself with Linux (Debian distro) command lines and OS (seemed a good place to start). Android seems so vast at times that im unsure what to learn, where to start... Any advice? I'm pretty much noob status here... Thanks!

Welcome to XDA!
I would suggest to enter to your devices section and start reading in the DEV sections, over there you can learn the basics of how to install a new ROM to your mobile!
Sure you will find a lot of knowledge and nice people!
Enjoy your stay!
Welcome to XDA! More importantly Thanks for your military service!!
RomFlashingCarlos here.
I flashed my first CM ROM almost 5 years ago in attempt to revive hardware from 2012 that was abandoned by Samsung.
Now I'm back with the same hardware, but with the latest OS running on it.
I am ever thankful for the dev here that made that possible. Looking at you @html6405
I look forward to being here, maybe I could learn a thing or to about being an android dev.
Welcome to XDA and enjoy the forums vast amounts of information!
Cheers

Welcome to this forum! Happy to have you here! If there are no official updates for your device, look into Custom ROM’s.
Hi everyone,
My name is Seb but you can call me Poneyh!
I know about XDA for quite a long time (I was using Cyanogen ROMs few years ago) and grow tired of using the stock ROM on my Poco F3 so I came back on the forum to improve the UX with my phone thanks to all the amazing projects we can find here.
I'm a software engineer mostly developing C++ desktop application but I'm always interested in learning new languages and platforms. The open source world attracts me so I hope I might be able to contribute to some interesting projects one day.
Best regards,
Poneyh

Hello, My name is Tamil and i'm an Android user who also happens to be a curious person in tweaking and exploring the new possibilities of Android. My First visit to XDA Forums was in 2016 when i discovered the android experience of my phone was not optimal and decided to use the availability of custom ROMs myself in my android phone which XDA Forums helped me a lot to learn about custom ROMs and how to do it, properly. Appreciating all of their efforts and work to the welfare of the android community users. Long live their popularity. Always my love and support goes to XDA Forums forever. Thank You, Guys !
