Hello, I'm new - Introductions

Learning to code and a college student, I found this XDA-developer online, and I was curious on how to remove unwanted apps and ads in android devices so yeah, and hopefully it brings me opportunity to my career. more to discover!

Careers in Mobile App Dev

I was reading an article today about the hottest jobs in IT for 2012 and "Mobile Application Developer" was one of the 3 careers listed as a hot field.
Over the past decade I have felt that IT Development has been a tough job market because of all the global outsourcing.
I realize there are many devs in this forum, some do it as a hobby, some create apps to sell through Android Market etc for either money or ad revenue, and some work at the enterprise level and are also involved here for hobby or for other business/personal reasons
When I am thinking career in Android Dev I am thinking enterprise level... working in corporate supporting/developing mobile apps for employee/client/customer productivity, to basically improve business processes
http://www.metro.us/newyork/life/article/1029481--the-hottest-it-jobs-for-2012
I created this post hoping to get some feedback from devs... on their opinion of mobile application dev as a career prospect - would you recommend it to someone in college, someone later in their career etc?
Thanks.

Intellectual Infringment, Appeal Denied

Hello everyone,
I'm new here, hope I'm welcome. Couldn't find an introduction area so I hope this will suffice as my introduction to this community.
I'm 20, I've been into computers for as long as I can remember. I'm currently serving in the US Air Force. I plan after I get out in a couple years to go to college full time and get my Masters in Computer Science. I'm interested in either getting a job in computer forensics, administration, or software engineering. We'll see.
I don't normally get on forums much because I'm so busy but I'm getting more into Android development, or I was until Google's Android team stabbed me in the back.
To make this story short, I posted what was basically a soundboard, with clips of Mathew McConaughy's famous quotes. It was a joke app I made after a few friends and I started this running joke of "I was flying space ships before it was cool to fly spaceships." in a Matthew McConaughy voice (Interstellar Movie + Lincoln Commercial = Funny but overused joke).
Here's the weird thing though. I had originally made the app (io.mxb.matthewmcconaughysoundboard) and it stayed on the market for a week before I went to update it and realized I had lost the password to my keystore. I had to reupload my app with a new package name (io.mxb.soundboard. matthewmcconaughy), and when I did, not even an hour after uploading, I received the infamous email stating I had infringed on intellectual property.
I thought I was protected under Fair Use. But I'm not a lawyer, I don't know. I'm just very upset and confused. I even attempted to appeal their decision, most likely made by a bot. They denied reinstating the app and stated that their decision was final.
I've seen several apps with celebrity soundboards, some even with ads and paid versions. But I had no intention of putting ads or making a paid version of the app. It was just a free, funny app idea I had from a friend.
Any suggestions, ideas, support would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Android becoming closed source?

Hey there, long time no chat in this forum
So, with all the recent censorship scandal by big companies such as Twitter and Facebook, many 'suspicious' things have been happening recently. For example, with Twitter's suspension of Trump's personal account, people has been moving on to Parler (a somewhat more "free-speech" oriented alternative to Twitter). But yesterday, Google removed the app from the Play Store and Apple threatened with doing the same if they don't adjust their censorship policies.
Of course, non-jailbroken iPhone users are screwed with the app and have to use the web version, but Android users are still able to download it via 3rd-party app stores and websites such as apkpure. And considering this last bit I ask you:
Do you think Google would be willing to make Android closed source to enforce their censorship policies in the future?
Hope to read yout thoughts on this one
no lol calling it censorship is pretty dumb imo
Don't see it on the horizon...

I really donĀ“t think so, but I think (in the future) that using certain features and having full access to the device will be more complicated, such as Huawei's devices, you literally need to register and get their permission to get the bootloader unlocked.
What I see in the recent censorship is that it's all about Trump and the extremists following him, and this demonstrates two things:
1) Twitter is clearly not supporting Trump as it's becoming more and more out of control.
2) Twitter always said it was for free speech, but when they saw that free speech is what gathered the BuffaloMan and his fellows at Capitol Hill, well, then free speech became a danger.
So if you plan to overthrow some african or asian government, they will let you do it, but if you try to overthrow the government of US, then it becomes a problem
In any case, Twitter, Google, Apple, and all the other companies are private, independent companies, with their own regulations. In my opinion there's nothing wrong if they block someone or some products in their platform or store. It's like a golf club banning a member or a shop owner not selling anymore a product.
If Trump wants to start his own social network, he can do it, unless what he does on the site is against US laws.
So, in conclusion, i'm not worried about Android becoming closed source, as this wave of censorship regards a specific group of people, and also because being open source is what made Android's wide success possible. And while Android is successful, Google can push their already closed source Play Services on the devices.
I hope not....
When I saw this thread title, I feared that this was recent news and the ROM scene was over. When I read this thread, I took a sigh of relief even if the post is complete nonsense. To answer your question: No, Android is not going closed source and nobody is censoring anybody. If Android were to go closed source it would have to find an entirely different kernel to use as the Linux kernel is open source and open sourceness is a key principle for Linux-based OSes. And Twitter, Facebook, Google, etc are all private companies and get to decide who can and can't use their platforms.
I don't think that Android will be a closed source. Actually I believe Android market will grow. I even decided to create an app both for Android and iOS. Not just for iOS. Easy to do so with modern technologies https://itmaster-soft.com/en/cross-platform-app-development Sooo I'm sure Android will be fine

Hello to all of you

First of all, I want to thank all of you moderators, developers, modders and long term user out there to maintain this giant project.
I visited this site multiple times per year - for nearly a decade now, finally I made an account.
Long life to XDA, thanks again to all contributors.
Now to myself:
Mainly I code stuff for my company and worked for some bigger company (90+ people) in my country (as a software developer).
I played around and extended an emulator for a game, had the only public test server for it for a while, where people could fool around and I could learn and gain experience in programming and reverse engineering (2007+).
Am also fooling around in setting up my own linux distribution, there are already a few things finished, a few people are using it already, that and some other projects will be published some time soon or hopefully this year haha. A few things still need to be done to be able to do that.
Some of it also includes the pinephone and some other open devices.
I hope you all have a great time and thanks for reading this.
Greetings Archantium
Edit: edited some grammar mistakes and added some missing words
Welcome to XDA! Nice to have all your experience here on the Development forums! Enjoy
Regards

Introduction

Hey guys I am from the U.S out of Michigan and I am pretty new to this stuff so I hope I can get accurate knowledge and helpful information on accomplishing everything I would like to accomplish from being a little bit more involved in the community. I like haging multiple rooted android devices to play around with, although I currently just have my primary device atm. I also want to get into the Cybersecurity field, so I am just beginning to learn programming languages, starting out with Python, and have plans for obtaining a MicroBachelor's degree on the subject of Cybersecurity.
