Samsung galaxy S20 FE not charging - Device Repair

A few days ago my galaxy s20FE stopped charging while plugged in. Tried multiple cables, different plugs. Nothing worked. Even went a bought a brand new cable and plug just to be sure. Decided it was probably the charging board. Bought a new one, swapped it out. Still won't charge. It will charge on a wireless dock but thats it. What else could be the issue if I replaced the charging board and it still isn't working?

Battery or mobo failure be my guess.
The replacement C port pcb was the same PN right? If not that maybe the issue.
It's possible the replacement was defective.

The part numbers are the same. I wouldn't think it would be the mobo, it's still on and functioning. And it does charge with the wireless, could that still be a battery issue if it charges with one and not the other? The battery only plugs into one spot on the mobo

If you power off the phone will it cable charge?
Make sure the cable, brick and wall outlet voltage are good. Try another outlet...
Use a Samsung brick.
The power controller is on the mobo or at least part of it is. Try replacing the battery, if that fails to fix it replace the C port pcb, again.
Also:
Clear system cache
Do a hard reboot, disconnect battery then reconnect if you haven't already.
Try toggling fast charging on/off 3 times.
Inspect pin connectors on all associated ribbon cables for damage.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE charger problem: If your Samsung Galaxy S20 FE does not charge at all, it may be related to a charger problem. In reality, the cable/adapter combination may no longer work.
Check the condition of the USB socket on your Samsung Galaxy S20 FE: These sockets are fragile and can, as time goes by, and the manipulations become twisted or engorged with dust.
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE does not or almost does not charge even though it is charging: In this case, it is undoubtedly the use of your android smartphone that prevents it from recharging properly. In reality, if WiFi is on, whether you are watching video content or otherwise, you may block the charging process.
Battery concerns: It often happens due to age that a battery loses its storage capacity. If you have access to the battery, check its condition, otherwise try to compare the autonomy of your Samsung Galaxy S20 FE compared to the one it had when it was new.
Suppose you are still facing the smartphone charging issue. Visit Samsung Care or Call at iFixScreens they can help you with this, and you also get a free quote for your repair.

I had the same issue with a other Samsung M31s. Tried everything you did. Ultimately came to know 1st time it was IC internal damage and second time it was wiring on mother board.

Note 5 abruptly stopped charging, wireless works

As with other similar posts, I seem to be having USB issues. Neither charging cables nor OTG show any signs of functionality. Wireless charging, however, does seem to be working but I must keep my phone out of its case. Just like the others, I saw a few persistent popups from Samsung VR to take a little tour, and twice I went back to what I was doing. Hadnt seen it since, then all of a sudden while connected to a normal note 3 charger, it began to rapidly switch between charging and disconnected. Unprovoked of course, and when I went to inspect and reinsert the cable, it began again after 2 or 3 minutes. I unplugged it, promptly tested with the original charger and had no luck. Then on to many more cables and charging bricks, laptop ports and such.. no action. Tried OTG flash drive, nothing. Last ditch effort, tried wireless charging with the phone off and its working. Has any headway been made in this issue? It seems software related, and at the very least carriers could acknowledge it if so. I am not under warranty, and this is an incredible loss for me as it effectively neuters my cell phone. I need to charge while out and about to run my business and wireless isnt very portable... Please help XDA
I have isolated the problem to a software issue undoubtedly... Correct me if im wrong. The wireless charging is interrupted when a cable is plugged into the usb port, indicating that it is not faulty and the phone recognizes the hardware. At least according to my personal logic.
EDIT : The Induction charging appears to be on its way out as well. Only working intermittently, and rarely at that. I fear the worst brick possible (one not caused my my own tampering)
Desperate bump plus a bonus question: what would you consider a fair price to pay for USB port repair? Considering giving that a try, maybe I have bad solder or something. I don't have UV glue and all that other necessary stuff to check it out myself.
So, I think I have a the same issue. I had Note 5 (DUO) which was 8 months old and it just suddenly stopped charging. It charged via USB only if the phone was turned off. However, it seems that it charged wireless. Because i was traveling, in the pinch, business meetings etc, could not waste time figuring out the issue and purchased another Note5(DUO), in August. Well, just today, it developed the same simptom as the previous one: it stopped charging via USB when the phone is on, it only charges when the phone is off! I see that there are no replies to the OP message, but adding my issue here in hope that there will be some response....

Galaxy Tab S2 SM-T710 overheating when OFF and plugged in!

Hi everyone,
I'm really hoping someone can help me.
I have a Samsung galaxy tab s2 8inch. It is the SM-T710.
It was working fine playing music on a Bluetooth speaker system then the battery died.
Tried to charge it and it was acting funny, said it was charging then got to one or two percent and i attempted to power on while the device is on charge and it powered on then turned off within a few seconds.
Let the tablet charge for a while now and its not really going up and the screen has gone off and its not turning on and i now notice its getting really hot at the bottom part of the screen slightly above the home button.
Removed the charger and left it for one hour, then came back and tried with a different new genuine Samsung charger and cable, and still getting extremely hot within a few 5 - 10 seconds just above the home button.
Unplugged it and left it till the next day and attempted to charge it again same thing.
I though it could be either: A faulty battery or A faulty Micro USB charging port flex (possibly short circuiting).
Now Ive opened up the whole device and taken apart every item on the mother board following a tear down video on YouTube.
I then connected a brand new genuine battery to the board and removed the old one, and the device was still overheating however this time i could pin point the exact source of heat on the motherboard which i will circle on an image but cant attach to this post as i need ten posts.
The images are on my public google drive but i cannot share the links here any ideas?
I then thought the micro USB charging port flex is causing a short circuit and so i completely disconnected that and the overheating problem still occurred.
Then i disconnected each and every component one by one and still the same thing on the motherboard keeps overheating excessively within seconds of connecting the battery to the motherboard.
Now Ive completely removed the motherboard from the frame and Ive connected the battery to it and same overheating issue.
Now Ive reconnected just the micro USB charging port back to the motherboard and attempted to plug a charging cable into the port and exactly the same thing still overheating excessively.
I really do not want to replace my motherboard simply because of the data on the device etc.
Can someone please tell me what the red circled item is in my image so i know what is overheating!
Could it be the CPU?
Is there ANY other way to replace JUST that part, even in china? Can anyone advise or help me?
Many thanks to the people who patiently read this and helped.

+1
I guess the motherboard got corrupted
First off, do not boot up an almost empty device. Second, it is entirely normal that the bottom area (charging port, home button etc) gets hot while charging. It will fade after the battery got some essential energy. Third, do not deplete the battery completely, if possible. In the long run it may damage the longevity of the battery.
Was there ever a solution to this issue? I'm having the same problem.

Slow charging and fluctuating current on S5 mini

Hi,
My wife's S5 mini seems to have developed a nasty habit of not even fully charging overnight.
When using a USB powermeter, I see the current fluctuating between (roughly) 200 and 800mA. Other devices on the same multiport USB charger have no such issues, so it is not the charger.
When using the OEM charger and lead it will also charge very slow, to the point where it may not even be full the next morning.
I downloaded the Galaxy charging app (very informative on my S4), but it always shows 1mA chargingcurrent, so I assume it does not work on the S5 mini.
I cleaned the USB-port on the phone and removed some lint, but no difference.
Wiggling the micro-USB-plug makes no difference, nor do different charging cables.
We switched the phone OFF and removed and reseated the battery: the problem persists.
What I did NOT yet do is swap the battery (we have two same-age S5 mini's in the house and only one has the issue). If I can pry the second one from my daughters hands, I will try this and report back. Obviously if the problem moves with the battery, it is the battery. If not, it's the phone. Or if the problem is gone, then it is just those darn Gremlins again.
What I also did not do is boot into safe mode (or whatever is sometimes adviced) as the phone does not go through its battery fasst, it just charges very slow. An inefficient app would also not explain the fluctuating currentdraw (certainly not it dropping below 500mA when battery is 80% empty), so atm I don't consider an app to be a likely culprit.
Any ideas are welcomed.
Ideas:
1. Install and use the free app Ampere to check both cable and charger;
2. Turn phone off and plug in charger, even off it shows the percent charged, so you can check if it's system software problem or not.
Check if the micro usb port is dirty. You can't imagine how much dirt can get there, specially fibers from clothes. Normally I use a needle to clean it, maybe there is something more appropiate.
Got the same problem after 3months use.
To avoid this problem:
1- Plug the charger
2- After 5 seconds connect micro-usb into the phone
If you connect first the phone to the charger it will not charge properly

Galaxy note 9 fast charging problem

lately, somewhere after update to one ui 2.0 I started to have some problems with the fast charging.
as for now, the fast charging won't work unless it plugged to type C port in my PC that supporting QC3, and even that for like 1 minute max and that shorting my WHOLE pc's USB ports.
tried many bricks and cable supporting QC3 though the phone supports QC2, and nothing sadly made any change, tried as well on using the original brick and cable and still the same.
I've also been trying for like a week to clean the port with cotton and 70% alcohol and nothing changed
I tried to measure the Amps coming from the charger and got like 2 Amps max, although I remember when the Fast Charging did work, it gave like 3.3 Amps(all measured by ampere app)
I'm thinking it may be the port itself, but not sure about it
what do you think?
any help will be appreciated
Edit: I tried to wipe cache and charging in safe mode
Try wiping the Cache Partition in Recovery Mode.

I did that and even in safe mode.
Post edited and these stuff added
This is a well known issue with all Samsung phones. They use the cheapest USB connectors on the market and they short out very easily. I lost fast charging over a year ago when my phone said the port was wet even though the phone had never been anywhere close to any water ever. The only way to get it back is to replace the USB port. With the phone being so old its not even worth the money to fix. Same ship happened to my wife's S9+ . I'm not buying another Samsung phone.
Thanks. I can see how a cheap port could be the problem. I've had this problem with my note 9 since day one. I can plug in a brand new cable that works great with somebody else's phone into a Samsung charger and randomly it will max out at around 750 ma or 1040, 1425, or up to 2275. This is even when the phone is at less than 20 percent, and the phone is not warm at all. I have wondered if a faulty temperature sensor has been to blame.....
What's odd is that i can take it off a QC or Samsung charger, stick it on a battery pack and it hops right up to 1200. Got a temperature sensor app and all is around 120 degrees F which I'm pretty sure is normal.
Do Not use 70% isopropyl alcohol on electronics, it's 30% water
Only use anhydrous isopropyl ie 99%
Use a OEM fast charging brick and cable. They're cheap, $20 for a Samsung 20w brick and cable.
Erratic fast charging and a rapid drop in battery capacity may indicate a battery failure.
Any case bulging is a battery failure; replace asap.

Fast charging issue

So my note 9 (snapdragon) is never using fast charging and even if i manage to get it to give me fast charging it gives 1 hour 39 minutes to charge and takes 3 hours, when i charge by cable charging with disabling the fast charging setting it charges in 2 hours 10 minutes while it is cable charging not giving me fast, with the setting enabled it charges in 1 hour 59 minutes.
One side of the type-c never gives fast charging and the other side writes fast charging for 4-5 seconds then switch to cable charging and rarely doesn't switch but the charging time is 3 hours as i mentioned.
I tried everything possible other than trying to flash another software it is with the stock but unlocked.
I cleaned the socket, used 10 different chargers with different cables, wiped cache and tried safe mode and more.
Sorry for making it a long post but this problem is driving me crazy and i want to know can it be software issue not hardware because the phone is used for 2 months and the socket can't be cleaner, and if i flash the stock rom again will it be locked by T-mobile and i would need to unlock it again?
Thanks alot.
First of all, try to change the cable that 98% of the time is the problem when having these types of issues . Then consider the fact that the battery's temp influences the time needed for charging so if it's hot, software will decrease power in charging so that will give a longer time to charge. Even using the phone while charging or leaving apps in background will extend time for charging.
I have posted this so many times.
Samsung uses cheap USBc connectors that short out. Once you lose FC the only way to get it back is so get a new USBc installed by Samsung or a third party. This happened to me about 4 months after I got phone. I never fixed but I will never buy Sammy again. Its not your cables, its not the power cube, its the connector on the actual phone.

In every case, better Sammy's phone USB c connector then iPhones phone lightning connector because after a year you can't even charge the phone at all for having intermittent false contacts when you plug in the cable for the phones connector going bad....

It's possible the the USB C connection is faulty, it's also possible it's a faulty charger cable or even a faulty charger .
Eliminate one by one, buy a good USB C cable to check if that cures the problem, it often does.
Whilst as Tokedup says it may be the usb socket in the phone as according to his post he didn't fix the problem it's not possible to conclusively determine the cause.
It's unlikely to be caused by software, but high ambient or high battery temperature will lead to charge rate reduction
Maybe try an app like accubattery, this will show the charge rate in mA.
With a genuine charger and cable fast charge will reach a maximum of 2800mA

Well i tried everything you said with no success.
The problem is the phone isn't fast charging at all.
I believe it's the phone socket actually.
Thanks anyways

I think you are right but i didn't want to believe it because i am not going to change it and risk opening my phone i can try and live with that.
Thanks

I already tried alot of cables and chargers so i am sure it's not one of them and now i am nearly certain it's the socket since you said it's unlikely to be a software issue, but i really wanted to know what could've caused it because i am sure i didn't do anything wrong.
I have been monitoring accubattery for a month now everytime i charge the phone. The mA is always between 800-1200mA and the phone takes nearly 2 hours to charge.
Thanks alot mate
just to be sure that it is not software related, remove all the battery optimization related 3rd party apps. clear cache and test the phone with stock usb cable and charger that came with the phone. what i had experience is that my note 9 SM-960F is sencitive to charger. if i use a third party fast charger or cable, it give me some sort of trouble like overheating or slow charging. so make sure you are using stock charger and cable that came with phone.

I wiped data factory reset and cleared cache and tried safe mode so i don't think it's any of that.
the last try will be flashing the stock rom again but i am hesitant because i am afraid the phone will be locked again by T-mobile and i won't be able to unlock it
Thanks
Why not get a Samsung wireless quick-charger and try it?
A wireless charger will not be faster than cable charge but I would get one so you don't wear out that port to where it doesn't interface with a computer if needed in the future. Btw all my new phones thats the first thing I turn off is fast charging it degrades battery more over time.

When I purchased my note 9 I did a post somewhere where I said the weakest link in this phone is the Charging port. And so right from the first week I got a wireless charging pad.
Also during the rainy season I keeps saying there is moisture in the port. Basiclly god help you if you live in a place with high humidity.
Like you this is the last Samsung Note I will buy in this life. My Audio packed up after the update. I suspect the over heating caused this. And their support is outsourced in India so they don't give a hoot about your issues.
To the OP.
Try a wireless charger if that fast charges Then you know its a port issue. If that also does not fast charge then its a chip / board issue.
I predict all note 9 users are going to see more and more problems as the over heating causes components to start to fail.
You can get a new USB port with flex cable for like 4$ on ali express go for it.
