Hi everyone,
I've just flashed a new Mi 11 with the EU rom running MIUI 12 & android 11.
I've installed Nova and now I can't remove it!
The normal method of long press in the icon gives the menu 'share /app info/uninstall' but hitting uninstall just removes the icon for second and then it's back.
In settings I've force stopped it and cleared all data but there's no uninstall option.
I've gone the Store route and that just says is has to be deactivated but the option isn't in settings!
I've checked under Security > Authorization and Nova not listed (if that's the right place to look?)
I've tried to uninstall it with adb and that fails with 'Delete_failed_device_policy_manager'.
The main problem I have with it, is it's dock won't disable. The toggle to switch it on/off in setting doesn't do anything, so it's there on every launcher I install and on the stock launcher.
can anyone please suggest how I get rid of it?
Many thanks.
OK, finally fixed it.
Needed to disable it's admin access.

Hi everyone,
My home button and the "swipe from the top" has disappeared since my last restart. I really have no idea what's happened and now I am using the apps called "Button Savior" to return the home screen.Maybe thid was because I have deleted some system files from system/data/data/com.android. providers.settings. I have restarted several times and it didn't work for my device. Now its really inconvenient to use the Kindle Fire HD. My current software version is 7.1.13. Could you guys help me to solve this problem? Thank you very much in advance.
maybe pull the rom in the development section and see if you can get the deleted files from it?
the only time my framework dissapeared was when i was trying to install the play store. i got it back by renaming a couple google framework apk's in the system folder and restarting...
Hi adiliyo,
How can I pull the Rom in the development section? As I have deleted many system files, I think I am in a much bigger trouble than yours.

if you can't get the individual files, maybe reflashing that rom will fix your problems
This happened to me, and some other folks. Look for a thread asking about how to view/run settings.
Anyway, some fixes mentioned were to turn off notifications for Gmail - hard to do if you can't get to settings, though.
What worked for me was to try and side-load an application - copy an APK file to the 'downloads' folder on your KFHD via a connected computer using the windows file explorer, or ADB - and then install the APK. In my case by clicking on it using a file manager. The KFHD told me that I would have to enable foreign application installs to finish the install of the side-loaded APK, and took me to that portion of settings that dealt with that. In that section was the 'Reset to Factory Defaults' button.
I pressed the reset button, and got everything back. Earlier applications (google play store) that I hadn't un-installed in an attempt to fix the problem were still there. Super User was intact. I downloaded & installed everything again, and all is working as it should be.
Until Amazon comes clean with this walking ad-server, details on how to modify it without introducing issues are going to be sketchy . It's just our lot in life, if you'll pardon. I appreciate having super user access, and all the Google apps I love to use, but what's really required is the ability to modify the boot loader. Until that's available, it's going to be try until it fails, and then scramble to recover.
Nice HW, but limited by Amazon's vision of the customers.

It works!!!! all the missing parts have come back. the Go launcher EX has saved in Cloud.
solution
download an app called my android, open the app go to my apps and find the settings app then go to device and then go to factory reset. its the only way I found to access settings when drop down didn't work. after resetting to factory my buttons all came back after doing the tooltip for startup
What worked for me on my AF tablet was to uninstall all 4 Google APK files, then uninstall the Launcher Hijack. The tablet swipe down and home button both came back for me. I then re-installed the Google APKs, but didn't re-install Launcher Hijack. Tablet works fine, functions are normal, just have to put up with seeing the default Amazon screen first before tapping the Nova Launcher icon to get to my custom screen, a minor inconvenience, and I didn't have to do a factory reset.
Hello friends,
My wife has unsafely and ignorantly updated his settings program through Aptoide update suggestions to an unknown file which made settings nonfunctional.
I wonder if there is anyway to restore original settings back in order.
briefly:
-- tapping settings ----> error: "unfortunately the program has stopped"
-- htc incredible s which has once been updated to ICS, at its first time release I guess.
-- there is no backup software in her phone.
-- everything else sounds functional and in order.
Thanks for your help

When you are in the app drawer, press menu button and select remove apps. Find settings app there, and press the uninstall update.

Thank you,
I opened app drawer and selected remove apps in menu but it gives the same error "unfortunately settings has stopped".
I think there might be some issues with settings core which prevents any settings action. even the quick settings wifi is nonfunctional.
can anybody give me the original "settings" APK of ICS ROM? I want to give it a try reinstalling.
Anyway if I won't be able to manage to repair, what is the best way to back up the data and then how to do hard reset of the system and restore selected apps and data?

Do a factory reset. Go to hboot and you will find the option there. Press Vol down + Power button for going to hboot.

thank you so much.
I did the factory reset, everything is fine. the little thing is that in system update it notifies that a 1.1 MB application update is available but it won't download it no matter how long I wait. is it a must package?

No, I believe it is just a minor update to the HTC Hub app. Nothing serious. :good:
BTW, You're Welcome.
I couldn't find anything about this on XDA, so I apologize if it's already been mentioned. I have root access and the Google Play store installed on my Fire. I've even gotten rid of the default launcher and installed Nova. Everytime I try to put a widget on the screen, however, something breaks and the screen automatically goes to Settings (device settings like About, Device Options, Display, etc).
Has anyone had any success with putting widgets on their Fire? Or is there a workaround? Thanks!
In a normal Android ROM, the first time that you add a widget in your launcher, you get a dialog asking for special system permissions.
In this Amazon modified ROM, this dialog doesn't seem to exist, and that's why it simply redirects to the settings app.
The solution is give this permission manually. How? You have to move the launcher APK to /system/priv-app/. You'll need root access for this, temporarily (booting a modified boot.img) or permanently. Search this forum for that and ask again if you get lost
Worked!

Hi,
I recently got K20 pro and it's running stock MIUI Indian rom (10.3.3).
I've followed steps from the following link to disable Ads wherever possible:
https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-miui-ads-hamper-user-experience/
However Music (stock Mi) app is still giving ads in the notification bar. How do I uninstall or just disable this App (without root/unlocking)? Many Mi Apps could be disabled but not this one.
Even Disable button is grayed out in MIUI Hidden Settings App.
Thanks.
Have you tried Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools?

Weird but it worked. I actually tried that before (well no need to swear but I swear I tried) and "Disabler" Tab was grayed out and it failed to uninstall from the Uninstaller tab. After you said, gave it another try. This time Software came up with Disabler tab enabled and Disable worked.
Thanks.
EDIT: I tried to disable another app "Mi Video" and it failed (in the same instance of XiaomiADBFastbootTools) . Closed the software and restarted it. This time the Disable worked for this 2nd app.
Thought i'd share how i enabled Google Feed on the stock OnePlus launcher that ships with the phone.
Edit: I assume this will work on any OnePlus device running stock launcher 4.1.0.xxx or 4.1.1.xxx
This requires Magisk Root and you willl have to wipe data for OnePlus Launcher after installing the Magisk Module.!
@aer0zer0 over on the OnePlus 7t forum has made a updated module for the stock launcher version 4.1.1.xxx, making below steps redundent.
If you have the latest OnePlus stock launcher 4.1.1.xxx, simply head over to this post and grab the Magisk Module linked, manually install with Magisk, reboot and you should be good.
After downgrading the OnePlus Launcher i had issues using Navigation gestures, i suggest changing navigation mode to Buttons & Gestures - Navigation bar & gestures - Back, Home, Recents for the downgrade process. You can re-enable Gesture navigation afterwards.
Steps:
Open the Play Store and search for OnePlus Launcher
Tap the OnePlus Launcher that is installed on your phone and tap Uninstall to downgrade the version
Once uninstalled, head to settings and find the OnePlus Launcher, verfiy you are on version 4.1.0.xxx
If you are on 4.1.1.xxx this will not work!
Head over to this thread and download the Magisk Module in the OP.
Install the module manually in Magisk Manager and reboot your phone
Edit2: You obviously do not have to downgrade the stock launcher if you're already on version 4.1.0.xxx
You should now be able to activate the google feed by heading into your launcher settings (Tap and hold the home screen, select Home settings) and tapping Leftmost screen, and selecting Google app.
Enjoy!
Dont have that option "Leftmost screen".

What version is your launcher?
Delete data/cache for the launcher and check again.
Cleared cache but no success. If clear data going to lost all my settings and also delete my profiles so won't do it.

Pretty sure you'll have to wipe data. I'll update the OP.
Ok i did it, whiped data before that backed up settings via TB, steel no profit... There's no Leftmost screen option. I'm with Mclaren, does it matter?

Go the play store page for the OP launcher and hit uninstall, then update. That should fix it
Did it, now got force close and im unable to to deal with... I think going to use msm tool and reinstall whole device. Tried reinstall with OTA but no luck, also tried via TB to restore old data i app... Screw it again, now from scratch... sh.t
The update that dropped for 7t today has 4.1.1.1125 in system/app. Things should work alot better going forward
