Hi, I'm trying to get the santander app working on LineageOS 17.1 on an Xperia XZ1 Compact with Magisk v23.
Usually it detects that the phone isn't secure within a second or 2 of starting but by using MagiskHide, Momohider with all config files, hiding Magisk and freezing it (I used Ice Box), I can get to the screen where it asks for my ID. After entering it, THEN it detects the phone isn't secure.
Any solutions?
Do you already have a way?
Not yet but a few solutions have been suggested on the LineageOS thread in the XZ1 Compact forum. I'm working my way through them but I've been busy lately so not much progress.
In my case the problem was that I had a TWRP directory left over from flashing the rom. That by itself didn't work so I did a factory reset to get rid of any traces of magisk or TWRP and it worked.
I don't know if I understand. When I delete the TWRP directory, I won't be able to backup or restore the backup. How to do it?

You could try renaming the folder or moving the files elsewhere (maybe to another device?). I think the important thing is that there be nothing with "TWRP" in the name on the phone. I'm not an expert though, this is all just based on what worked for me and what others have written.

Hi guys!
Is too much complicated to generate a flasheable zip or method to disable all xposed modules from recovery?
With this huge change to lollipop is super easy to install a module that bootloop your phone (like mine......) and is not so good to factory reset just for a simple module. I know the risks, and I have nandroid and backups, but again, is too complicated to format all the phone an pasting backup just for a simple module.
Thanks!
PD: I tried the old "xposer disabler" but says that there is not app backup folder and nothing to be done.
kk
disable from kitkat not from android 5
Well if you just want to get out of a bootloop because of a new module, just delete Xposedbridgeapi.jar temporarily from /system/frameworks

Nice, next time I will consider to try it (I get on bootloop again.... and I restored a backup)
you can just create an empty file named 'disabled' in '/data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/'

I realize this is a few years later but THANKS!
It's amazing how many people can access their /data/data directory from recovery to disable XPosed and how uneducated people are and don't use encryption!
I'm using a Galaxy S8, Android 7.0, Magisk 16.6. When I try to play Pokemon go, it gives me the "OS not supported" message. The 16.3 fix didn't work back when it came out and I haven't been able to play since then. I did check the app in Magisk Hide and I activated the setting to hide Magisk Manager with a random package name, but it still doesn't work. Is there anything else I should do?
The only thing you can do that will work is to completely uninstall magisk. That should let you play pokemon go.
Pokemon also looks for a bunch of known root apps on your device, not only Magisk. And MagiskHide can't hide other apps.

There are a whole bunch... Busybox installers, system cleaners, etc. There's an old list available somewhere in the Magisk PoGo thread (search), but that list might be outdated. Easiest thing is to uninstall some root apps and see if it works better.
An easier alternative, if you have the means to do it, is to use a clean spare phone/tablet for Pokemon Go, and keep your phone how you need/want it for everything else. Bluetooth data sharing is enough bandwidth to make PoGo work.
PoGo 0.115.3 not working, no login

Sure.
Make sure you have Pokemon on the Hide list.
Hide the Magisk Manager (in the Manager settings)
Delete the MagiskManager folder on your internal storage (next time you download/install a module through the Manager the folder will be recreated).
Edit: There will likely be an update to Magisk that will hide the MagiskManager folder. But for now this is a workaround.

Hmmm, tried all this, but still PoGo will not comply, even when I sandbox it in the work profile. (island app) The latter sounds a bit strange to me, as it should limit access to anything. (Magisk Manager gets installed, but is hidden)
To be honest, PoGo is just a test for when they start messing with Ingress as well. When it's getting to much trouble to have the app behave, it's out. They are just games, nothing to compromise my device for.
Also rename or delete every file or folder on your internal storage / sdcard that contains "magisk"

Any file? Not only the directory, but one that can be found somewhere on the device/external sdcard? (Like Magisk-v16.7.zip which you need to install it...)
Strange it should see it when sandboxed.
You can try, someone else said so, I did also do it and had no problem anymore so far.
But you should be right, that when its sandboxed it should not see it anyways...

Before using the hide magisk manager option, make sure magisk manager is NOT a system app. This will successfully repack magisk manager.
Then delete magisk fodler from internal storage and hide PoGO.

May be other ROMs come with integrated Magisk. That was the case in mine. Convert it to user app first.
Then try magisk hide again and look for the package name in app info (It should be something random). Then continue with other steps as it is and it should work fine.
Let us know how it goes
Hi togehter,
if you use the Fake GPS Route, then uninstall via TWRP Magisk and then works PoGo (new version) perfekt, that works with my Samsung S5
I have a problem with my Samsung S7 edge, if I uninstall Magisk, then I have the problem, that the S7 go to a bootloop <--- Have anyone a idea?
Samsung S7 Edge
6.0.1
SecurePatch 01.12.2016
TWRP Recovery
If I install Magisk again, then boot the Samsung S7 without a bootloop, but then dont work PoGo
Xamel
Uninstall in the magisk app not by flashing a zip in recovery
Before I rooted my XZ premium I played pokemon go Just fine, afer Just enabling developer options (still locked bootloader and not rooted) it did not work Annymore, switching off developer options fixed pokemon go again.
Now with properly rooted Phone with magisk busybox, and whole bunch of rooted apps I am stuck as wel.... bonkers!!! !!
Could someone find a solution?

App source: https://www.cerberusapp.com/
This app is mainly to protect our phone and helps to locate our device in case of lost or stolen.
Obviously, needless to mention that the device needs to be magisk rooted. Rooted with latest magisk version is good.
Why this module?
See screenshot for reference. Why we need this magisk module? Cerberus app needs to be placed in system/priv-app in order to use the "SIM checker" settings to work. This settings is very handy to include mobile numbers to be notified in case of device loss/stolen. Also, we can confugure under this settings to localize the device with a "cerberus find" sms message without a password. This means that we can find the finder location / device location in no time in case we lost it.
By the way, you have to create account in https://www.cerberusapp.com to use this app.
This module installs the app in system/priv-app folder. Flash this module in Magisk Manager and reboot device. After device boot you will see this app in app drawer in the name of "System Framework". I have used Cerberus Disguised apk and this is why the name of the app is not obvious (i.e "System framework"). If anyone needs magisk module for the named app, i.e Cerberus, please place request in yourt post. The named app will apprear in app drawer in the name of Cerberus with the developers app icon.
Without this module, we still can manually move the app folder from data partition (after we install normally) in to system/priv-app folder and set permissions to 755. But on several occations error message pops-up on each device boot.
If the developer of this app has any objections to this work, please PM me.
Usual disclaimer: I am not responsible if you break your device. You are using at your own will.
Module file attached and also it can be downloaded from this LINK.
I tested it on an old device. An LG G2 with cyanogenmod. Android Marshmallow.
First I uninstalled Cerberus completely. I rebooted the device and checked to see if there were any file remnants in Data / App. There was nothing else there.
Then I installed the Magisk module and restarted the device.
Upon restarting Cerberus was properly installed. I launched Cerberus and set it up properly.
Then I went to the System / Priv-app folder to check.
There I found the System Framework folder. Inside was only the SystemFramework.apk file, but there was no other folder like I had seen in Data / App.
Then I rebooted the device to TWRP and did the factory reset. I did on the following:
Wipe Data
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik / Art Cache
Then I restarted the device.
Upon restart there was no remnant of Cerberus (System Framwork). Cerberus has been UNINSTALLED.
I accessed (via computer) the Cerberus website and tried to track, but to no avail. Not tracked.
I wonder if I made a mistake in the procedure?
I am thinking to test in my Xiaomi Mi A3.
@FredMontteiro That is expected. Magisk stores it's files in /data/adb, so any app that is moved to /system through Magisk will be removed if /data is wiped.

So the Magisk module doesn't really install the app in /system then. Right? It only makes it look like it. So a factory reset makes it dissappear...

Yes. That's always been the main function of Magisk, making system modifications without actually touching /system.
Call me crazy, but... isnt this the sole purpose of cerberus? to be installed as a system file, survive factory reset and be found in case a person loses a phone or gets it stolen/pickpocketed? I mean... is there a way in 2020 that cerberus not only survive a factory reset, but actually works after it, meaning: the phone that gets factory reseted keeps its roots functions and stealthly sends info to the cerberus website etc?

Yes, but it doesn't work like this on a Magisk rooted phone.
I see. In 2020, is it possible to have a root that isn't systemless and a phone/apps that won't lose a lot of functions? Or if they do, workarounds that are effective? Honest question.

It has nothing to do with Magisk being systemless root (so was SuperSU). On most devices you can still edit /system, but most modern devices are now SAR devices (system-as-root), so in order to edit the system partition you actually have to edit the root directory (/). It's up to the app developers to make that work.
But, Google has twisted it a bit further with Android 10 and there are now devices that have completely read-only system partitions that are impossible to write to. You can still do systemless modifications with Magisk, but features like Cerberus' factory reset protection won't work.
What I've written here is quite simplified, so if anyone is interested to know more I urge you to do your own research. There's tons of stuff written about this already...
I posted a thread that allows the Cerberus app to survive a factory reset. (Even if your device is rooted with Magisk).

Tried using magisk hide and hiding the magisk app itself but neither works. Somehow it is still detecting that my device is rooted. I don't have any other rooting on my phone.
It used to work with the Huntington bank app just fine.
Anyone else have this issue?
Having the same problem recently with Chase Mobile.
Any way to reach the dev and let him know or to help him test it with these apps?
Have the same problem with the new update of my banking app "Natixis Banxy".
They found a way to detect magisk even when everything is hidden.
Try renaming the TWRP folder on your Internal Storage to something else. Then try your Banking app again. (Only applies to TWRP users).
Thanks but I'm not using TWRP. I do use it to initially load Magisk, but I don't keep it on the phone.

Doesn't appear to as I don't have a TWRP folder anywhere on my phone.
Bump for more thoughts and suggestions
I have been annoyed by this for so long but I finally just found a solution. If anybody is still having this issue, go into settings of magisk manager and find "Hide Magisk Manager" in the list. I stuck with the default name of "Manager" and then after that I cleared the storage for Huntington. I should also note that I have MagiskHide enabled for Huntington too but I don't know if that is needed when hiding Magisk Manager itself. After all that, fingerprint works and I can send money with Zelle again from the app.
Dears,
Please how can i backup installed magisk from Rom is there a way to get the installed Magisk ?
BR
any suggestions please?
Exactly what is it that you want to backup?
Modules are stored in /data/adb/modules, superuser permissions and most other settings are stored in /data/adb/magisk.db, etc... But, more details on what it is you are actually trying to achieve would probably be a good idea.

Sir,
i want to get full back up for magisk that installed in my phone magisk.zip not the magisk manger
and can use it to same phone or another one
Thanks for reply Sir
When you get a new phone, you just install Magisk similar to how you've done for your current phone. Its not something that you backup and move from phone to phone.
Pretty much this...
If you really want to backup modules and Magisk settings I've given you the locations of those already, but other than that there's really nothing to backup.
