No
only if decrypted
I have a decrypted ROM as far as I know. I cannot get a recovery to work with it.
Newest TWRP works, but decryption problem. But still from OTG or sideload installing is possible.

Then you're not decrypted or something went wrong with flashing.
Which ROM?
Flashed DfE?
13.0.2.0. Recovery not asking to decrypt, but still working. Rom is decrypted, but recovery not compatible with rom. Can installing via OTG or sideload.

I was on MIUI.EU I was unencrypted before and as far as I know that did not change. I tried wiping the data, that did not fix it. I found my way back to miui 12
I don't know why. I use mmx rom myself. On global works too

I am beginning to wonder if it is not the extended memory option. I was not able to do a back up in android 11 today on TWRP. I read I ought to turn off the extended memory in advanced options and reboot. That solved it for that. I don't know if that would make a difference for other issues though. Nor do I know if it would help in A12.

I am using Cofface TWRP 3.0.3-0 on my device right now, and would like to update to the official TWRP 3.1.1-0
Is it safe to just flash the official recovery img to update my custom recovery or is there anything else I should do?
Yes it's save to flash
Okay everything went well but the official version seems to be asking a password, I assumed it's the one I used as a phone lock but it fails whenever I use that password
Flashed back to cofface's twrp and It doesn't have this lock
Any idea on what to do?

TWRP won't see it if it doesn't download properly. I would suggest downloading it to your PC and transferring the rom to your device.
Good idea I'll try this

Flashing TWRP unofficial didn't work for me but maybe the file wasn't right.

Boot recovery works.
Ok to flash recovery ?
Have you read the instructions? You do not flash the recovery, you use the ADB command to boot into it and then flash your rom. The rom will permanently install TWRP.

Well you may not like to risk but i feel that the error is due to TWRP not being able to write on the device.
First things first, try to download again the ROM, and don't flash the zip file, but flash the .img file inside.

I think you should try to flash magisk and see if it flash ok
If so, i dont know what the issue is... if it wont flash ok, you will need to format your phone data

Either risk format the phone data (but you will lose everything) and try to flash again... or well... wait for the author to reply.

That's correct, but in my case I'm running EliteROM wich is decrypted by default, if I want to backup my system with TWRP-3.6.2 the super partition shows "zero MB" even without any lockscreen option... not like in OFox where it shows the real partition size... So, the backup will be done without system or super-partition. Am I right? Thank you.

Sure, but full restores with TWRP or O.F tend to work only on the same rom (when it works).
You can use Mi cloud on PC or PHONE eventually MI phone assistant.(data only).

I'm testing almost every rom I found... with OFOX I can restore my entire system every time.... I'm not sure the same with TWRP, and I think the reason is android 12. With android 11 every recovery image works fine.

There are several trying the last one but removing the security from the lock screen is fine.
Your rom is in A12 so yes, phone code name SWEET. (but some TWRP are not yet 100% functional).
What do you want to do with the twrp?

For AOSP rom or Custom Miui roms, first installation requires to format data not just wipe.
Again remove lock screen security and with the TWRP:
If the TWRP ask to "enter password for the user" just select cancel.
Wipe/format data type yes reboot TWRP.(if errors red lines restart the procedure).
rebooting to the TWRP on each try.
So, i've rooted my xiaomi note 5 with magisk, and i wanted to do the same with my main phone, and now i cant unlock my phone because i dont want my data lost (the apps are the most important and i have all my other data backed up) and i came across mediatekbootloaderunlcok and im just wondering is it patched or does it still work? because if it works then im definitely rooting my phone. id appreciate it if any of you guys answered my question
thanks

yup. it doesnt, tried it
The only TWRP version that works for me is the Dimenzino forks, but those only boot. ADB sideload crashes the recovery, decryption doesnt work thus MTP also doesnt work.
Any other recovery i try also locks me from booting before i reinstall spark.
I've been hating every second with this phone.
When i compare the experience of modding it to my old Redmi 8, this phone is such a pain.
IMEI backups
No ROM's work
No recovery's work.
Now that I have only 1 IMEI i can no longer even go back to MIUI.

This is the only recovery that has so far worked for me to install a ROM through sideload. Otherwise its pretty useless.
Looking at the rom-lord files, theres quite a few roms/recoveries in there, ill try to test the recoveries and let you know.

well, I mean, it's MediaTek....
you can just go port TWRP to your device by yourself, OR use GSI ROMs! (though, GSIs are very.... general, and so, they might not work with certain hardware inside your phone, because they're designed to be a one-size-fits-all solution.) even better, go make a custom ROM for your device by yourself!
