Thank you for helping me since so many years. Until now I found the answer to every question by using the search function.
In the past I rooted some devices using Cyanogen Mod without problems. But now its no longer available and also no need for me to change roms (I thought until now that problems appear).
Woohoo! We love using search
Cyanogen lives on in LineageOS, development never stops here!

Hey guys, please help before my brain fries completely.
I've recently downloaded the Diamond Project ROM, which I love, although have just noticed this is quite old so wondered what the best new ones are??
However, reading the ROM development page has completely confused me as they are all on about different versions of this and that, different windows mobile version....................... its all greek to me. Escpecially with the 50+ pages about bugs and fixes etc........ lol
Can anyone help?
ps - I am in England and on O2 if this helps?
Try Shaks v4.10. No bugs (at least for me) very stable and very fast, lots of new things included.
Very good support in case there is something wrong.
You might need to get comfortable with the new notifications manager but it's great once you got to know it

I recently upgrated to the G2, and I still have my G1. I was thinking about rooting thr G1 and flashing a new rom for the first time. Can anyone point me to a good thread for first timers. Thanks

Welcome to forums
I´m moving this thread to G1 section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668090
But next time, go to the Development section of the G1 and there are a ton of stickies for first time people. But the link above consolidates everything into one handy thread.
Also, use the Search button up there.
Hello and Good Day to you all...I just got a Galaxy Tab GT-P1000T and instantly became a great fan of Android. I even wrote and article about its very basics. However, I'm absolutely new to Android and would like to know more about it.
At present I'm looking for a simple solution to:
Rooting my Galaxy Tab and installing something better than Froyo (like Gingerbread)
I know this is a Guru's Forum - newbies like me will have some initial stumbling here. I'm somewhat lost in the crowd of threads here. Would somebody tell me the simplest procedure of doing the thing I want to with my GT-P1000T
Thanks and Regards
M.Y.
Just go to the overcome thread and download the guide.

Before you ask any more questions I highly recommend spending some time reading threads as all the questions you could possibly ask have already been asked and answered, like this one has a million times.
PS. This topic is a question and thus should have been created in the dedicated questions forum.
Thanks
Thanks to you The ATHEisT
Yes I should have surfed around and read related posts - but the problem of forum (great ones like this one) is there are so many threads that you get tired soon looking around and not finding what you're looking for exactly.
Anyways, thanks for the link - I already downloaded the pdf guides, and I hope I shall not damage my new Galaxy Tab
Hello,
If you follow the instructions to the letter, you should not damage your tab.
FYI, that the current overcome 2.0 gold still has a few bugs, so if you like things to just work, you might need to wait for a while.
The older overcome 1.6.4 is still using froyo but it is much more polished and not so buggy. but you will be missing gingerbread.
If you have battery problems, just search the general forum for this thread: fake status of battery.
The easiest, without rooting, is the Italian gingerbread flash via Odin, Takes about 5 minutes and there is even a video on youtube going through the whole thing. You can pause it and do exactly as he is doing (he is a member here)
Thanks conchchowder

Hello!
Upgraded my ZTE Blade to a Xperia V. I made a major leap in technology . But the development front seems to be at a stand still. Maybe the phone is to new or to unpopular. Anyhow I guess that in time we will get more custom ROM's to our phone. But CWM was a easy way to install new roms. I used it on my ZTE. Anyhow, is it possible to use this in our phones? And the tutorial for rooting the device is too cluttered ( Thinking about this thread ) for inexperienced users. How do I even come in to service mode to be able to upload my new rom/kernel?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
Sweden
First its to new and second we in Sweden are one of few countries where V has been released so far. Most countries wont get V until next year.

Ah that makes sense. So we will have to wait a while (months maybe a year) until any development will a cure. I thought they where pretty much alike (T,TL,V) so I could use their roms but that seems to be wrong, I guess that they don't have LTE support.
I can't post in the developers forum because of too few posts. But have anybody here tried the CyanogenMod that's posted there?

hmmmm, you need a lot more reading before you can start posting.
If you mean my thread is to cluttered, it is not, there is a lot of information to take in and therefore done time is needed to read it.
Secondly, after a bit of reading you will learn there is no built in recovery in Sony phones, you have to instal it yourself.
Thirdly, read the threads about rooting, and unlocking, all the information is already out there

How do I customise the signature on xda premium app?
EDIT, Now i am at my pc I can see you did not mean my thread, but championshipswimmers thread is very straigtforward.
My point still stands.
Before I flashed anything on my ohne I spent several days reading up on things, and since you are new to sony I recommend the all in one thread. Follow my signature ink to find it.
Read it, try to understad it, then ask questions in that thread on what things mean.
A few days reading to understand things wont stop you being able to customise your phone the way you want it, but it maystop you bricking it.
I have been a silent watcher of the xda portal for a long time now since I had my first mi4i. Never bothered to create an account as I did not find myself able to contribute anything new and very well everything i needed was already provided in the forums. I recently came across a blocker when i tried to install a GSI rom on my S20+ . It took me some time to find a solution and thought of sharing it here as well. I am currently working on learning to make some custom roms myself. Taking the baby steps as of now. Apart from this i am a full time Cloud Engineer by profession. Looking forward to be part of the grand team. It is a good thing the xda provides for people personal needs when it comes to personalizing rom where the oem providers fail to support properly.
Thank you for the warm welcome.
