IMEI gone in Custom ROM, still in fastboot - Moto Z3 Play Questions & Answers

Hello there,
I hope I am posting this properly. I have bben using my device with verious ROMs over the last year or so, but when I tried to get rid of GApps, it soft-bricked and I restored using Lenovo Rescue and Smart assist the stock ROM. Then, trying to reflash, it started reprting that phone keeps crashing, and it does this in varius ROMS including a ROM known to work for me, with and without TWRP-Backup restored.
What I have identified as the issue is the IMEI. While IMEI is written in fastboot and fastboot getvar imei returns my IMEI just fine, *#06# just shows a box with title IMEI and OK at the low right corner, where the IMEI should be its empty.
Thanks so much in advance!

Unknown IMEI and locked network after trying to recover

Hi everyone,
Hope you can help me solve this, cuz I'm way out of my knowledge..
My phone broke the lcd and was out of action for a few months.. After I finally got a replacement screen, the phone wasn't working and said IMEI unknown, I've tried to flash a few roms via recovery but nothing. So I just went crazy and flashed it via kies. It worked, the imei appeared but the phone was locked again..
Back to the shelf a few weeks until I could afford to pay for unlock.. When I picked it up, it was unknown IMEI again and the guy at the shop basically told me he couldn't help.
Was he right? I refuse to believe I can't recover the phone.. Can you please help?
Thanks!
Anyone?
Are you sure is that phone imei is not blocked, because provider may block if it is stolen reported.
I had the same problem after changing display IMEI unknown
But somehow it was saved from 'unknown IMEI' I don't know how.
restored efs from previous backup (twrp & philz recovery)
- no imei
I flashed stock
- no IMEI
asop
- no imei
tried different modems
again stock
- suddenly its worked
(some users reported flashing different modems worked for them)
Yes I'm sure imei is not blocked by network. Have a friend that bought a phone which he discovered the hard way it was stolen, anyway, blocked imei by network behavior is completely different.
This is what happened to me first time only valid imei after kies rom update.

If you see imei again, Make a backup using pc, there is a guide in development section. So, you can easily restore again.

Nexus 6 Unknown Baseband and Missing IMEI after disabling WiFi calling

I DO have an EFS backup backed up to Google Drive before I started messing with stuff so that is a non issue. I also have the box if it can be manually programmed somehow.
Here is what happened. At work today I was on T-Mobile WiFi calling. I disabled WiFi because I wanted to use LTE (which I get strong signal at work). After disabling WiFi, the device would not connect to cellular. I rebooted the phone thinking it would fix it for sure, then the SIM card wasn't detected and my IMEI shows blank, and my baseband shows as unknown. In bootloader mode it does show the correct radio and bootloader though. Also when I go to "Barcodes" from bootloader it shows the correct IMEI, serial number, etc...
Things I have tried so far:
-Flashing the entire MOB31T Marshmallow factory image with fastboot
-Flashing the entire N6F27H Nougat factory image with fastboot
-Restoring original EFS in TWRP
-Restoring known good ROM backup of all partitions including EFS in TWRP
-Flashing different ROMs besides stock
-Flashing back and forth between different radios using fastboot
-Testing my SIM in another device (it works). Testing another SIM known to be good in my device (still shows no SIM, IMEI blank and baseband missing)
-"fastboot erase xxxxx" on the 3 EFS partitions mdm1m9kefs1, mdm1m9kefs2, and mdm1m9kefs3 and trying combinations of the above
Last ditch effort I flashed stock firmware image and locked the bootloader. Now my phone has a locked bootloader, and I can't go into developer options. I can tap it 5 times to enable the option, but then when I press it the screen goes blank.
What do you get when you dial *#06# in the phone?
If a series of numbers or null, I think it's software and I'd go back to basics flashing a complete, clean factory image. Bootloader, modem, everything. Then, if you still have the problem, again restore your EFS.
If those steps don't work taking it to a cell phone repair center may be the best choice. They should be able get you going pretty fast using their test box.
If nothing is there, I think that means you have a hardware problem. It probably means a new motherboard.

When I dial that it brings up a box that says IMEI bolded, but then nothing below it like it's empty. Then an OK button. So I'm guessing it's a hardware failure.

Take it to a repair center and see if they can confirm. It shouldn't cost too much just for a verification.
Try a "fastboot erase all" followed by either a flash-base (bootloader and radio), or flash-all (entire stock ROM), then wait like 5-10 minutes after the first boot and see if cellular works.

Lost IMEI Moto E5 XT1944-3

Hello
I need help, some days I tried to install a GSI ROM on my XT1944-3 however it never booted up, after returning back to my previous backup I noticed that the sim isn't recognized by the phone, at this point I tried reinstalling the firmware, even I tried flashing the NON-HLOS from the dual sim variants without success
As you can see in the screenshot that I attached also I lost other numbers
Also I checked the IMEI on blacklist and it's clean
I don't know if someone else faced this before and could solve it, please help me

If you are still having issues, you probably just need to re-install firmware, then OTA updates and that should restore the sim.
Do you know the IMEI numbers ? Then it's easy with Code *#6813# insert and press ok
-i have also problem with imei i installed
[ROM][10.0.0_r41]LineageOS 17.1 for Moto E5 (nora) + Recovery [64Bit] mmoto e5 work fine imei is restored
