Update Galaxy Ace from Android 2.2 (Froyo) to stock 2.3 (Gingerbread) ON THE MAC

Hello XDAdevelopers community,
first of all, thank you for these very useful Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 forums! Before starting this thread, I have extensively searched the forums for an answer, but could not found a relevant solution. I could only find a guide with rooting options for Ace on the Mac here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1550854 but this is only a small part of the solution for my problem.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 mobile phone, running Android Version 2.2.1, Build number FROYO.XWKA9. I would very much like to update to the latest officially available firmware, then root my phone and afterwards be able to install a Custom ROM. I would like to install preferably a CyanogenMod7-based ROM, because I have read that there are problems with the Camera of Galaxy Ace phones in connection with CyanogenMod9-based ROMs. I found a Custom ROM (Miui Style CM7.2 RC0) that I would like to try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1413400
My problem: I have a Macintosh computer only, running Mac OS X Version 10.5.8. I have installed Samsung Kies version 1.3.0.12072_17 for Mac, but it cannot recognize the Galaxy Ace - there are several websites mentioning that Samsung Kies for Mac does not have driver support for Samsung Galaxy Ace...
My questions:
1) Is there a way to update Samsung Galaxy Ace from 2.2 to stock 2.3 on the MAC (Samsung Kies for Mac obviously does not recognize a connected Galaxy Ace)?
2) Is it true, that CyanogenMod7-based custom ROMs can be installed ONLY on a rooted Android version 2.3.x (but not on a rooted 2.2.x)?
3) Could you please recommend a MIUI style custom ROM for Ace, based on cm-7.2.0-cooper STABLE release?
Thank you very much in advance for any useful reply!
1. Try to reinstall the drivers for the phone. KIES should work.
2. Yes. You need to be rooted.
3. Why don't you try MIUI4 or MIUI GB by TeamCooper?
Its an original port..

Hello Shaaan, thank you very much for your reply!
According to 1) Could you please give a link where I can download and reinstall the KIES drivers for Samsung Galaxy Ace? Have you managed to connect successfully a Samsung Galaxy Ace with Kies on a Macintosh computer? On my Mac, Kies constantly shows "Notification: This device is not supported by Kies.", I have enabled USB debugging on my mobile. Should I try a previous version of Kies, I have Kies 1.3.0.12072_17 so far.
According to 2) I plan to install the stock 2.3 first, then root, then install a Cyanogen7.2-based Custom ROM.
According to 3) Please post a link to the latest MIUI4 and MIUI GB by TeamCooper. Are these the latest releases of
* MIUI GB http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586773
* MIUI 4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674079
or there are newer versions? I suppose that MIUI4 is CyanogenMod9-based, is the camera bug fixed?
If you still can't update on kies for Mac, go to any Samsung shop and ask them to update it.
MIUI4 does have the camera bug.
CM9 now has a working camera with preview but the camera app has no options other than to take a pic. No video recording yet.

[Q] [HELP] Stable Android 5.0 ROM for Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000

I'm not quite new to the Android/rooting world, but I do need some help.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 that is my main phone, but I haven't transferred my old number yet, so I'm using my old S. I spent about 3 days searching for and trying out Android 5.0 (Lollipop) ROMs, but even with following the exact instructions, either I couldn't finish the flash because it came up with an error or it soft bricked my phone. I decided to give up for a while and try a 4.4 ROM and it was successful on my first try, but I really want to use 5.0 as I have it on my S3 and Tab 2. Can anyone possibly link me to a stable 5.0 ROM? I've tried at least 6, but I've had no luck. Any help would be much appreciated.
Specifications:
ROM: Mackay 4.9.14
Android version: 4.4.4
Baseband version: I9000XXJVT
The phone is rooted. I was using CWM, but I was unable to have it with my current ROM, so I'm now using TWRP.

The first result on Google of 'Update Galaxy S2 I9100 and Galaxy S I9000 to Android 5.1' works, but I had a few bugs and found a better version of it. Which ones did you try?

How to install a new rom on Tab S2 9.7

My question is as follows. I have a Tab S2 9.7 with OJ4 and Android 5.0.2. I have installed TWRP on it and also rooted the Tab.
But now, I wish to flash a new rom on this tab, but how should I do that, do I need a new kernel, do I need another android version, what custom rom is adviced?
In the roms here, I see they are usually for OH7 with android 5.1.1
So please, is there somewhere a step-by-step "guide" to flash a new custom rom on the above mentioned Tab S2,
Many thanks in advance for any help!
Looking in development section there is not much custom ROMS for T81*? Tab s2 9.7 don't tell much and if you are on OJ4 bootloader I would recommend upgrading it to 5.1.1 one by just flashing firmware with Odin, you won't be able to downgrade I guess. The worst part about tab s2 it's cpu and the lack of custom ROMS because of samsung being a prick.
