Hello people unfortunately I just updated to MIUI 13.0.1 on my 11t pro to find out that Xiaomi's promise of a good software are still not true. There are some problems that 12.5 had that are still present and there are new ones.
The problem that persist (in my case) are:
- Dark mode per app selection doesn't work. It never lists the apps. (I had a workaround with MIUI 12. If I searched for dark mode on settings and selected "more dark mode..." it listed the apps, but it was removed or bugged with updates)
NEW Problems:
- Wallpaper flickers when unlocking the phone.
- Beautiful blur effect on notification shade (take a look at the screenshots)
- Both problems tested with system launcher and Nova 7.
Of course there might be more, but those are the ones I've noticed just after updating. The blur effect is the most annoying thing, maybe it's a problem with the video driver or something.
Just let me know if you're facing the same issues or if I'm the only one.
Someone suggested, with another problem I had, flashing the Rom or a clean install would be a good idea. But please guide me if you can. I'm not unlocked nor rooted.

That trick didn't work for me. Tried multi window thing but the app never got listed.
Of course I've already updated everything and in fact there was an update for the wallpaper app, but either way the problems are still there.
Can I downgrade to 12.5 enhanced?

Yep. If your bootloader is unlocked,
download your fastboot rom from https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/vili/
and flash it in fastboot, prolly better to wipe all data before doing this
BE SURE to back up your data

Thanks dude. I haven't unlocked my bootloader. If I can't find a solution at least for the blur effect I'll have to unlock it.
Xiaomi is making sure that this is my first and last xiaomi device. What a good hardware with such a terrible software.

Yeah it is a pain in the ass man but it what it is, a dicky move by Xiaomi indeed
Good luck hope you can fix your problem
xiaomi staff is garbage. period. they are the biggest brand out there now and they havent managed to make a single decent version of miui. i hope an aosp based rom comes out soon so i can get rid of this garbage OS and actually use my phone. that is inspite of all the hardware problems those cheap bastards have left in
Note that V13.0.1.0.SKDMIXM is a stable Beta and that it does not change much since in general Xiaomi later renames it Stable without changing anything.

Thank you all for the comments and contribution.
Well as an update first of all I just found another big improvement xiaomi software engineers made to the UI clearly visible on the Spotify app (check the screenshot) all buttons are messed up.
Secondly, well I can without the per app dark mode option and as a workaround for the beautiful blur effect on the notification shade. I switched to the "old version" of the control center and on Developer options disabled "Allow window-level blurs" on the "Hardware accelerated rendering" section.
It's not a perfect solution, but in the meantime it makes the problem manageable.
Probably I'll unlock the bootloader and try some Roms, because waiting for an update and for xiaomi to fix this issue, probably my warranty will expire first so... flashing it is

Thanks man for your answers is there a way to clean flash without rooting/unlocking.
In order to unlock the bootloader I have to wait some days, 7 if I'm not wrong, and before trying that maybe factory reset or something similar to Odin on samsung devices?
Just reinstalled Spotify app with no avail, buttons still messed up.

Yeah, I thought I could wait a year and "enjoy" stock MIUI, but given the circumstances, guess I'll have to unlock and endure this crapoy software for the next days until I can unlock.
I have returned to 12.5.1.0 . Too many visual bugs on miui13 for me
and some apps don't work well maybe with android 12 (or miui13)

I recommend factory reset the phone right after updating to miui 13, that's exactly what I did, didn't have any problems mentioned above, except for the dark mode option, my guess is this is not a bug but got completely removed instead.

3) scan virus cannot go in.

Try some 3rd part app like Footej Camera (should be free to check if RAW is available) or other camera apps like (manual camera, proshot etc.) to see if it has RAW support.
RAW option is available in Footej Camera in My Mi5 prime with RR rom. The last MIUI version (Xiaomi.eu version) that I checked also passed the manual camera compatibility test which should mean that rom will support RAW too and have camera2 api enabled. Newer Global rom probably have camera2 api enabled too.
LineageOS also have camera2 api and RAW support (most probably).

Firstly you seem to be having a very old global rom. So you may need to update it.
If you click the the dots in footej camera you will get options like grid, white balance, single photo etc in the viewfinder.
If you click the single photo option you will get options for HDR, RAW, Burst mode.....
But I doubt you will get RAW support without the camera 2 api enabled (if it is enabled footej camera should also 'show' shutter speed and ISO in viewfinder by default.
But other than the camera thing, I have another major concern for your rom.
I am not sure, but I suspect that you have a 'fake ROM' or 'vendor ROM'.
"h t t p: //xiaomit ips.com/guide/how-to-spot-fake-miui-rom-on-your-phone/" (can't post links yet. Remove quotes and spaces to use the link)
You have more than 4 digits for the version apparently.
It is advisable to get rid of the fake rom as soon as possible....generally they are full of bugs..and may even have adwares and malwares with worse performace. And yes having a fake rom is probably the reason why you have no OTA yet....(not a network problem but a rom problem). Do your research and if you can confirm you are having a fake rom getting rid of it should be your first priority.
I was lucky to have a official global rom from the start, so I can't advise you on how to get rid of it from my own experience.
However I had this link bookmarked as I was expecting I will recieve a fake rom:
"h t t p : //en. miui .com/thread-309122-1-1.html" (can't post links yet. Remove quotes and spaces to use the link)
It seems to list some possible ways to remove the fake rom from least risky to most risky method. Most risky method should still be fine if you are flashing the proper rom, I guess.
EDL is often the recommended method for totally getting rid of it...but after a certain version Xiaomi blocked EDL or something.
Assuming your bootloader is locked, you can request for Mi unlock by explaining your situation and then fastboot flash your rom with the latest global beta (or stable) or you may be able to put twrp and flash Xiaomi.eu version of the rom (which is a bloatfree translated chinese version of miui....which is quite stable..)

Follow the 2nd link : "http://en.miui.com/thread-309122-1-1.html"
They have done a good job arranging the possible options along with links to other threads and tutorials necessary for this process.
Sorry, I am not too experienced myself regarding removal of a fake rom. I can help you with specific things like how to unlock bootloader or stuffs but totally getting rid of fake rom can be a complex process and many options and method may be needed to be tried.
First just try to do the simplest possible thing:
0) Backup all data if you need to. Pics, contacts stuffs....
1) Go to miui forum and download the latest China Dev Recovery rom. (It should have english language as an option but no
gapps). ("http://en.miui.com/download-299.html#435") (you may also try the Global beta\stable roms)
2) Rename the downloaded rom to "update.zip" and put it in your phone.
3) Open updater app. Go to menu (three dots or something...) ->choose update package -> then choose the update.zip.
4) The app should try to verify the package and update to it.
5) If update is successfully done check about and see if the version number looks real.
If you happen to have successful then you have removed the fake rom. At this stage you may already have RAW support and more. But if you used the China Dev Rom, you may want to use the Global rom or custom roms for which you have to unlock bootloader. If you have somehow successfully updated to the official global beta\stable rom and don't want to root or try custom rom then no need to do anything.
Note you may first try the above steps using the latest global dev\stable rom and then if it fails, next try to us china dev\stable rom. I think there is a higher chance for china dev\stable rom to work successfully because fake roms are usually based on the china rom.
To unlock bootloader.
1) Make sure you have an MI account at miui forum...and also you must sign in with the same account in your phone. Your account and device should be connected. ALso make sure your MI\MIUI account has proper details like Name, Phone Number etc.
(Also it's better if you keep your name free of spaces).
2) Unlock developer mode. Search google on how to unlock developer settings in miui if you need to.
3) Go to developer settings (probably it will appear inside additional settings)> enable usb debugging and other usb related settings)
4) Enable "allow OEM bootloader unlock" (may not be exactly written like that, currently not in miui so I can't mention the option in exact terms) if the option is there.
5) I think in developer settings there was an option to check lock status of phone....and inside the option there is a button to associate the phone with mi account..do it. (may not be necessary, but just to be safe).
6) Then apply for unlock permission here: http://en.miui.com/unlock/
Note: Your name should be without spaces while filling up.
If you encounter warnings in chinese , use google translate or something. I was warned in chinese about my image verfiication
captcha error.
There you have to explain why you need to unlock bootloader. Clearly explain your need regarding why (it may be because you are still stuck in fake rom and you want to remove it or if you are already in official china rom you can explain that you want to shift to global rom).
7) Wait for the msg. They (Xiaomi) should message to your phone (the no. which is registered to your mi account) regarding if they have accepted your request and granted you unlock permission. After that they will provide the link to download the unlock tool and a code.
8) Connect your phone to computer after entering fastboot mode (power off your phone then hold volumn down+power button until you see the fastboot screen). Then just use the mi unlock tool that you will recieve and follow the instructions to unlock the phone. (for more details you may google on how to use mi unlock tool to unlock bootloader or something).
Once you have unlocked bootloader:
You can have several options. You may shift to global dev rom (download the fastboot rom for your device and use the mi flashing tool. "http://en.miui.com/a-234.html". Google for more details)
NOTE: Be careful following this steps. I won't be responsible if your device is bricked. I may have overlooked certain things so consider my instructions merely as a summary. Do check the links for details. Also even if the miui thread about unlocking bootloader suggest one to use china dev rom for unlocking, I have unlocked my bootloader from global beta rom and global stable rom may work too.
You may install twrp and then flash Xiaomi.eu (China versions of MIUI made bloatfree with more languages and necessary gapps like google play store and services) or you can try custom roms like Resurrection Remix, Lineage OS etc. All of them should have camera 2 api support, at least.

I downloaded Version: V8.1.4.0.MAAMIDI (MIUI8) Global Stable ROM from their site
Did as you said with the Updater app, now all I see is black screen with white circle spinning from about 5 minutes.
In case this method bricks my device what should I do?
Edit: It's booting now..
Edit2: Nothing really happened, just drained my battery with 4%. Everything is still the same...
What exactly did happen?
IIRC the updater app first verify the package and then tries to update.
Was the verification successful?
Did it directly went to the black screen in one go?
Also you may wait for at least 10-20 minutes.
I am not really experienced in this method...I only suggested as it was written in the link.
I don't think it's exactly bricked, the white circle means something is going on......if the updater successfully updated first boot should take some time.
In case of brick., I am not sure what to do with a locked bootloader. You will probably be able to still go to fastboot (holding volume down + power button)....but not exactly sure what after that. May be you will need an engineering cable. May be make a thread here or search google regard what to do when mi 5 bricked with locked bootloader.
Here's a thread where an user bricked his phone while bootloader is locked: http://en.miui.com/thread-474717-1-1.html
Hopefully the solution given in the reply should work: http://en.miui.com/thread-298885-1-1.html

What exactly did happen?
IIRC the updater app first verify the package and then tries to update.
Was the verification successful?
Did it directly went to the black screen in one go?
Also you may wait for at least 10-20 minutes.
I am not really experienced in this method...I only suggested as it was written in the link.

The Updater verificated the package and then it ask me am I sure, etc. and I agreed then the circle for 10 min. then restarted, and nothing changed...

So still the vendor rom?
I guess you can try china dev recovery rom next.
Or other methods. May be start by unlocking bootloader (may have to wait 3-10 days to get permission and in the end they may even deny permission for some reason) or you may take the risk and try EDL searching google for guide.

I will try the China rom but wasn't this rom without Google Play store and Google Services, how can I get them without unlocking bootloader?
If this fails I will try Option Two... Or I will try it directly

For chinese characters you can try google translate phone app to get the gist of what is going on.
Also the thread is quite old, I wonder if the same thing can be done using the English version of MI PC Suite or not. You can try that if the language barrier poses a problem. But I am not sure if there are any reason for which english version shouldn't be used or not.
Even if you unlock bootloader it can be relocked again while flashing the global fastboot rom using mi flash tool if you choose the clean all and lock (or something like that) option.

I don't know what happened, but it's all's well when the end is well, I guess.
It sounds like you went through a messy processes, some bugs may appear as a result....if you experience strange graphical bugs or something you might consider full wipe flashing but if there is no major bugs (though there are some bugs that are part of the rom which won't be gone no matter how clean the flash is), things should be alright now if you are on the official version.
I am not sure if camera2 api is enabled by default in 8.2 stable china rom (which is what I am guessing you have now?) but hopefully it is enabled. In miui 8 camera 2 can still be enabled by editing build props even if it is not enabled by default but that will need root which will need bootloader unlocking beforehand......but hopefully latest stable version is enabled by default.
So it seems you are stuck on the china rom...but if you can make gapps work with it, it might not be so bad. I also hear that china roms are more supported and has less bug (3rd party widgets didin't work well in latest global dev but work for me in latest xiaomi.eu based on china rom) and many users said that china rom has better audio output (in headphone or something)...but that may be fixed in latest global rom....well my point is that there can be some pros in staying in china rom too.

So it didn't pass the manual camera compatibility test? (Note, RAW is not available in stock camera, it can only be used in some 3rd party camera if camera 2 api is enabled which can be checked using manual camera compatibility test)
I guess, then they implemented this feature in the dev versions. You can probably update to china dev by downloading the latest china dev ota rom and updating it with the updater app after renaming it to update.zip. Or they will probably implement it in the later stable versions which they will release.
Switching to global rom without unlocking bootloader? Now that process is not as straightforward.
Here's a thread about it: http://en.miui.com/thread-299790-1-1.html
But it talks about making\buying an engineering cable.....unlocking bootloader is much less hassle imo and in future all these rom switicng things will be lot easier.......
For installing google apps in china rom, you need google installer or something, I guess. Installing gapps should be the simplest thing that you can try at the moment, I guess. You have to use google installer or something.

EDIT: Title
So, thinking about changing from Pixel 3 ROM to MIUI 10 (stable pie version 10.1.1.0) and debloat it as much as possible - could use some advise/help to do it properly. So bear with me and correct me if there are some issues in the order I list below.
1) Wipe data in TWRP
2) Flash the latest stable global MIUI 10 for Mi 8
3) Reboot(?)
4) Flash Magisk
Done?
And if anyone else have debloated MIUI 10, is there anything I should definitely not delete (for system stability)?
Or better yet, is there a list which apps etc. should be removed for optimized results?
I've never used MIUI as I flashed the pixel 3 rom as soon as I got the phone, so I'm really unfamiliar with the whole OS/UI.
Edit: typo
F*ck it... I'll answer my own question:
1) Factory reset in TWRP (I did full swipe)
2) Flash the newest stable MIUI 10 ROM, wipe cache/dalvik
3) Flash "disable DM verity"
4) Flash Magisk
5) Reboot
6) Install Magisk app from play store
7) In Magisk app, add "Debloater" add-on in modules
8) Install "Terminal emulator" from play store
9) Run terminal emulator, type "su" and press enter, type "debloat" and press enter.
10) Google which apps are safe to remove.
Hope this helps some other poor sods like me.
Edit: This sad excuse of a guide is based on an assumption that you already have installed TWRP and understand that you have to transfer the above mentioned zip-files to your phones memory etc.
Seems like I'm turning this into my (not so) personal journal. Maybe it will help some of you for deciding which ROM you'll use or that you won't modify your phone at all.
So, when I first received the phone, I immediately changed to Pixel 3 ROM (by argraur). The only problem with that is, that the camera is not that stable or even good (Gcam by B-S-G) and you will lose slow mo video recording and the Mi 8 optical zoom. There is no workaround unless Xiaomi releases their code. Or that is how I understood it - so probably never.
This camera issue applies with all the custom ROM's. Correct me if I'm wrong.
That left me to revert back to MIUI 10. So that got me the camera back, which was pretty good. Yet I debloated the hideous s*it that Xiaomi had pre-installed on the device. After that I noticed that I had to encrypt the phone to be able to log in my banking app with fingerprint. No problem, or so I thought. Even though the phone was stable after I removed lots of stuff, it screwed the whole encryption process and now I have to do factory reset (which means that all the removed stuff will come back) to get the phone working back again.
Seems like I need to encrypt the phone first and debloat afterwards - yet I don't know what will happen then or will it work.
For the end note I'll write my view of the two different ROM's:
Pixel 3
Unbelievably smooth and visually appeasing. Everything just worked (except that cursed camera). Also notable that it used the whole screen (unlike MIUI). Pie update has brought some new ways to navigate the phone and I personally really liked it.
Big downsides were these - as there are no notification led in Pixel 3 phone, this ROM doesn't have it either. Though weirdly sometimes it blinked when I got notification on some app. Also when the battery is low, the led blinked on high interval, which was horribly annoying.
MIUI 10
Some genuinely nice ideas on how to navigate and use the phone. For example, once you press the physical volume button, you'll see volume bar on screen which was easy to slide up/down. Also going from app to another or going a page back were done with gestures (google it up, Xiaomi PR-team probably does a better sales pitch than I ever can). Also yeah, the camera works.
But, but... damn that this ROM is stacked with some horrible, unnecessary bloatware - which will spy every step you'll take.
Also, personally I do not like the iOS-style, where all the apps are there in the start screen. Gimme classic android style menu where to pick the apps. Yet this is just a personal preference.
Yes you're not alone with that. I am looking for a clean solution myself.
I like MIUI a lot. But it's bloated with too many stuff. So I was thinking of changing to the China ROM - seems to be a good choice - but there's no support for LTE Band 20.
I found a thread for debloating MIUI 10 on a Poco F1 - maybe you check this. It offers two scripts for heavy debloating. Maybe some changes to the script will work good with the MI8.
And there's is a debloater for PC in the MIUI Forum .
Then there's globeROM with their ROM-Builder which is a good start for debloating. But it comes with GAPPS, so you would need to debloat it manually by yourself.
To free a ROM from Google, a good start is the NOGAPPS-Setup Guide from shadow53.
Right now I am on MIUI 10.2 PIE globeROM without GAPPS. It works fine though. But I miss some Stock items and the lack of the xposed Framework makes me think of going back to Stock MIUI 10 Oreo.
And finally a solution for your Cameraproblem is on it's way. There's a camera port for Xiaomi Camera App for AOSP ROMs.
Checkout the news here and the thread for flashing the app here.
Hi,
Since I've been requested by other forumers; I will list down on how I managed to flash Pixel Experience ROM from Honor View 10 to our Note 10.
Disclaimer: I am not dev, and I don't own or developed the steps; just compiling as steps by steps to other forumers so that they can enjoy their note 10 in Pixel Experience alike
I've tested the Pixel Experience, a part from having some launcher draw slight lag - So far everything has been good and notifications come on time + the battery life is almost identical to EMUI itself.
Here is how I start:
1:UNLOCK Bootloader (Steps 1 & 2 are essentials so you can't skip it) - https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-10/how-to/bootloader-unlock-root-tutorial-huawei-t3855643
You have to unlock bootloader and the only way as mentioned, will be by paying the service. I've got my code there and so far it's been pretty legit.
Skip step 3 as you are changing the ROM. Once flash new ROM, root will disappear so you may skip it.
2. Download Pixel Experience ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-view-10/development/rom-pixel-experience-t3867008
Direct Link: https://download.pixelexperience.org/berkeley/
It is important to you to download this TWRP as well: https://storage.codebucket.de/public...0-berkeley.img (DO NOT FLASH IT YET)
2. Boot into the default EMUI after you have done unlocked. You should notice all your data is missing and EMUI requesting you to resetup your phone. I skipped it and so far all's been good. Restart the phone. Hold Volume Up + Power Button until you boot into TWRP recovery screen.
3. Format your data using advanced wipe - Cache, Dalvik/Cache, Data and System.
4. Once done, navigate back to Install and select Pixel Experience and flash it. I do not encounter any trouble so far, no errors and etc. (You should still have it under your download folder as you do not flash your internal storage).
5. Wipe Cache
6. Reboot into your phone and viola you get Pixel Experience.
7. This may be skipped if you do not wish to root your phone as your phone is working correctly. If you are using previous TWRP, you will stuck at the splash screen and it will not boot into the TWRP.
Follow this step if you want to flash Magisk.
Enable back USB debugging > adb fastboot bootloader
8. Flash the TWRP again by using fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp-3.2.2-0-berkeley.img. Reboot and hold Volume Up + Power button again. Viola, you have a working TWRP now.
Please be advised that your internal storage, might be like mine in which you will not able to flash any ZIP due to encrypted folder. Your folder will appear as some random characters/letters and you can't see your zip files. My workaround is to add-in a MicroSD and flash Magisk.zip through the MicroSD.
If you have questions, feel free to ask. I will try my best to help out. As said, I am not a developer - I am just compiling the guide for other forumers. Credit goes back to the thread owners: 7gismo, Codebucket and other developers whom involved with the projects. Kudos and peace out.
I had little more complex problem.
I was rooted with magisk in default emui ROM 8.2.0.132.
So 1st Step: Download 8.2.0.132_Full_OTA.zip & using Huawei Extractor, extract recovery & ramdisk
2nd Step: Unroot via Magisk Manager
3rd Step: Overwrite TWRP with official recovery & overwrite boot/ramdisk with extracted ramdisk
4th Step: reboot to recovery & factory reset. then reboot to system
5th Step: again TWRP
Rest are the same as you.

Hi. I have not tested Google pay due to my country lack of it. So far fingerprint works, facr unlock does work but it is unlike original emui where it'll auto unlock the phone - you still need to slide to unlock after it recognise your face. So far apart from volte in which the developer has mentioned. I have not received any error or tested something which not work.
Will update if I encounter any bug or issues.
My previous phone was Nexus 6P. I always felt, there are lacking of some tiny features in barebone Android which maybe not so important to others. But to enable these features I have to use Xposed+Magisk+modules
1. network speed at status bar
2. When a call connected, short vibration alert
3. Applock with fingerprint natively
4. Battery Percentage within battery icon
5. Always on display automatically off within pocket
6. Themes
All are present in EMUI 8.2
That's why, I have returned from Pixel Experience ROM to EMUI in my Honor Note 10.
But the aggressive battery & ram management leads to unusable notification feature. Real time notification is totally absent if the app is not running in multitasking bar. Google location history is not working due to China EMUI ROM. But this notification failure is totally unacceptable, again I am planning to change to other custom ROM
Your TWRP link leads to a passworded login page. Do you have a direct link?
Right now I have TWRP 3.2.1 and am stuck with the AOSP rom bug. Hoping your 3.2.2 can fix it and I don't need to go through full erecoveery just to re-root and install roms.

I can only answer you based on this what I experience - I am not sure why photos are required though if you really want Pixel Experience because it is exactly same as the one in Honor View 10. Even the update for the newest Pixel Experience works and now my Always listen to Song works.
Google pay working? Answered
Google maps history works? It works for me. And so far no crash and etc when I am using Google Map/Waze. So all good
Google assistance works? Yes, but if the screen is locked, then it is not working. Not sure if there's changes cause my Pixel XL also doesn't work nowadays if I locked my phone.
Stock huawei camera works? Yes. The camera is based on Huawei default camera app as Gcam is not working and hence not installed in the Pixel Experience ROM
Is it based on pie 9? It is. The Pixel Experience forum has this note.
BTW, those questions have been answered in this thread and another forum (Honor View 10 Pixel Experience). If you are really into Pixel Experience, go ahead and flash it. You can revert back afterall; but I do notice that the lag of the Pixel Launcher still persists hence I have to use Lawnchair launcher (Which fixed the issue; no idea why).

Yes I do follow the China forum but then again the reasons why I moved away from emui:
- notification issue (super aggressive killed all apps even I locked it and set full manual permission)
- the default launcher has been removed and only by removing the default launcher through adb then only it is able to change.
- ok Google unable to be used and still hivoice as default
- cause it is not global room, Google feed is not able to be swiped
- prefer stock Android as minimalist
- Samsung health not working
I kinda miss Huawei functions though, some of them are really useful in comparison to pixel experience
Don't think so as you have to remember that this isn't a global rom, but China only. If you notice and compare, the global rom has slight different and Google integration.
But I've tested the notifications issue on my emui 9. Same thing happened cause of the aggressive battery saver
Hi, does desktop mode still works with pixel experience and is the aspect ratio correct too, cause Note 10 has 1080 x 2220 and View 10- 1080 x 2160 resolution? Thanks!

It's less long lasting than original ROM, but this is to be expected because the notifications work well and it doesn't aggressively kills the background apps as in the orignal ROM.
Overall, I still able to:
Uncharge at 1.30 am and use it up to 8.30 pm with 20 - 30% battery life. It's quite a moderate use - like day to day routine - whatsapp, facebook, some reading, youtube, and etc

About 4 - 5 hours. Don't think it can last as long as the original ROM.
Have some free time this coming weekend and was considering installing the android 11 beta posted here
Reading around this forum I've seen people have had issues installing gapps.
Has anyone managed to install gapps successfully? If not, I will stay on the NX627J_CNCommon_V2.23 build.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT:
I have now upgraded to Android 11 and installed google apps, here's how I did it.
The usual disclaimers apply: DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH ADB, FASTBOOT ETC. I will not be held responsible for bricked devices.
If you wish to void your warranty the command to unlock the bootloader and allow flashing with fasboot the command is "fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX627J"
1. Backup the data you want to keep from your phone. Wipe the phone using stock recovery or TWPR
2. Upgrade to 2.24 using full zip. As I had previously rooted my device so the stock recovery wasn't working and I had to flash TWRP.
3. Upgrade to 3.11 using full zip. Either use the stock recovery or TWRP. This will be the last time you can use TWRP for flashing due to changes in Android 11. TWRP does not support Android 11 yet. If I'd have realised this before I would have tried to flashed google apps at this step. Can't confirm if this works but I wish I'd have tried it.
4. If you need root, install the APK for magisk "canary" (or any version that supports patching boot.img)
5. Open the zip for 3.11 and extract boot.img, copy to your device
6. Patch the boot.img using Magisk. I used these instructions. Reboot.
7. Congratluations, you have Android 11 with root!
If you need gapps and didn't install them yet, it's still possible. Flashing without TWRP was a challenge, but after a lot of hours wasted, I found that BiTG apps was working which I downloaded from this page. I flashed using EX Kernel Manager but I would imagine other apps that allow root flashing will work similarly.
Currently, I have not been able to get SafetyNet checks to pass. I will update this thread with details as I uncover them.
For WhatsApp verfication to pass make sure you have granted Google services framework SMS permissions.
Hope this is helpful for some people who are thinking about making the move to Android 11. No major issues to report yet, will update this thread if anything comes up.
EDIT 2021/02/22: I have repeated this process successfully for V3.15.
thais rom support to flash twrp or google app?
someone who helps? very ugly problem that notifications from whatsapp do not arrive

you can uninstall most of the bloat without root, and even more of it with
obviously I don't work for nubia but at this point a global ROM seems a way off, especially given there has been nothing since 2.03
here is the forum post for release 3.11

I want to make it stock. Is there a tutorial for that? Their rom has too many issues, including the notifications and that ugly skin with their useless chinese features.

"stock" for this phone is what you have installed now. There is no custom ROM, which is your real complaint. To be honest, I would also much prefer a custom ROM, if you find one let me know! Anyway this is completely off topic for this thread

Yeah, stock is what I have installed right now, which is Android 9. I would like to get the stock Android 11, without their skin. Maybe a GSI rom could fix it, but I was not able to install it. As soon as you flash the gsi rom on nubia ui 8, the system breaks.

Yeah I hear you - it's incredibly annoying that you can't set the default launcher to anything else. Well, I'm sure you can probably! But I'm going to leave my phone to settle for a few days at least before messingw ith it any more
Good luck.

I'll stay on Android 9 for the moment, but I will never buy from this brand again. Apple proved me again that their phones are the best from the market. And Google Phones of course.
I have updated my phone from Android 9 to Android 11 V3.11 everything works fine but can I install gapps and how?

You may want to add in the instructions the command to unlock the bootloader of the z20 since users wouldn't be able to flash otherwise.
I managed to get this working and trying to de-china-fy to have english only. Will report back if I can somehow replace the default launcher.
Edit: got a my total launcher running by placing the apk inside the folder where the default nubia launcher is sitting. With root, just place the apk under system/app/nubia launcher folder. It's not working 100% perfect for me as nubia edge gestures stop letting me pull up recent apps so I can't multi task anymore

See OP "If you need gapps", here's the link again to get them again. BiTGApps-arm64-11.0.0-R17_signed-20200923.zip is the name of the file I have.
[GAPPS] Download GApps for Android 11 (JUNE 2021 UPDATE)
Google Apps (GApps) for Android 11 based ROMs needs to be flashed separately. Here is a direct link to download Android 11 compatible GApps.

Thanks that's a good idea, I'll try it out. Can you explain a little more around the gestures issue, is it that you show the navbar and the nubia controls are now somehow in the way? I've been a fan of the nubia navigation since I gave it a go and became used to it. Having the back button at any point in the screen is useful I find.
I've added the command to unlock the bootloader to the OP btw.

With the stock nubia launcher even with the Chinese app taken out, swiping left always tries to get you to the Chinese google feed like page. I didn't care for that so I replaced the launcher with total launcher which worked.
The problem is that the swipe up gesture that usually pull up the recent apps to allow switching between application is not working. Even switching the navigation from gestures to 3 button navigation and pressing the recent apps button does nothing.
Perhaps I took one too many Chinese system apps out which caused this error or it is somehow tied into system and nubia launcher itself. Will have to test further.

Thanks makes sense. Yes it sounds like you've uninstalled the Recents app, either reinstate or there are alternatives out there I believe

Just to confirm, I have just tried to set a new default launcher as you suggest above by replacing the APK. Replacing with SmartLauncher I couldn't return to the home screen using the swipe up gesture so have rolled back.

It's weird, the recent apps and swipe up are linked to the nubia launcher for some reason. Despite this, I'm staying with with my launcher as I can't stand the apple like nature of the nubia launcher. I think I have managed to get rid of all the Chinese apps though so all good for now.

Do you get notifications from apps? When I had that rom, I was not receiving any notification.
Phone: Xiaomi Mi 9T /K20 Pro
Current Rom: Miui Global 12.5.1
Wanted Rom: Stock google/pixel with all google apps, but without the awful miui interface
Evening everyone.
I would be very grateful if some kind soul can assist me. I'm trying to replace the standard and hated miui rom with Evolution X (Raphael) rom or any other recommend rom. So far I've successfully managed to connect the phone, setup usb drivers and unlocked the phone as well as used fastboot to flash twrp-3.7.0_9-0-raphael.img.
So far so good, but here's the questions I have or issues I'm having:-
Even though I have removed all screenlocks, the phone files on twrp are still showing as decrypted. I've also deliberately put on a screenlock and then booted to twrp, but I get no messages or request to enter a password. FYI, if I go to Settings>Privacy, the phone does state that it's encrypted.. Other than flashing twrp-3.7.0_9-0-raphael.img, I have also flashed many other versions of twrp, but they all do the same thing, i.e. no mention of any screenlock or decryption.
Although I can flash twrp, if I reboot, it reverts back to miui stock recovery. I then have to reflash twrp image to get back in. Is there a way to keep it installed permanently?
I'm also confused whether I need to root the phone. Is this compulsory and if not, and is it worth it?
Lastly my main goal is to install a rom without the rubbish miui. I still want all google apps, camera, nfc, and everything else to work, but with so many custom roms available, it's getting confusing. Can you please recommend one that is new, popular and has all the standard google apps/rom and stuff?
Thanks in advance.
Apologies - Just BUMPING this up as no reply.

Thanks very much. Sorry about this, but would you mind explaining what that file is and how do I install it? Is there a step-by-step guide that I can follow? Also once it's installed how do I use it to install the custom rom?
Thanks again for your help.

It's a version of orangefox twrp with a fix to support android 13 encryption. Guides on how and what to install are usually provided by the ROMs developers, since each ROM requires different software and steps. I don't think anybody can really recommend you a specific custom ROM, since most of them have their quirks and bugs, but I tried both EvolutionX and VoltageOS and both were running fine on my device (both android 13), now I'm running lineageos 20 unofficial and it runs fine too.
I see you want to install EvolutionX, and you will find all info on their thread, and should ask support for that specific ROM on that thread.
Sorry @vito_metallica, when I was asking for a guide or link, is was not for how to install a ROM, but how to install the orangefox twrp. Last thing I want to do is to brick the phone, lol.

Extract the zip and there is a recovery.img file inside. Maybe try it before actually flashing it (fastboot boot recovery.img)
And finally flash with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
EDIT:
Just wanna say, thanks so much @vito_metallica
Believe it or not, I've now edited this same post 5-6 times, because each time there was an issue, I'd edit the post again and again, lol.
Good news! I've managed to successfully install the EvolutionX rom.
I've had a play around and its a brilliant rom. Just a few issues which I hope I can iron out:-
The Android System WebView won't update - I've tried to uninstall, clear cache/data etc, but it still won't work
Is there a way to remove, relocate or hide the bottom Google Search Bar? - I never tend to use it as I find it annoying, so I would prefer to totally remove it if possible.
Thanks again

- Did you also clear cache and storage of Play store? If nothing works you could still install updates manually via apkmirror or you could install Chrome and use that as system WebView ( you can switch in dev settings ) or you could use Bromite system WebView ( search on GitHub for info about installation)
- If there isn't an option to remove the search bar you could still switch to a different launcher like lawnchair or Nova Launcher ( which I personally prefer), but maybe you should ask the EvolutionX devs first, since maybe the stock launcher has features built in that you would lose if using a custom one.

I always thought by clearing the cache/storage , it would cause major issues, like apps stop working. Am I actually safe to do this without any ill-effect? Will it still remember that I'm logged in and what apps I've already downloaded/updated?
Regarding the bottom google search bar - I think I read somewhere this is built-in and it can't be removed without causing major issues. I guess I'll just have to live with it.
The other issue I've found with this rom is that after disabling gestures and re-enabling the 3 navigation buttons (which I prefer), they are the wrong-way round, i.e. I prefer the back button to be on the right-hand side. So if you know any way of fixing this then please let me know.
I'll post these questions on the dev's chat too.
Thanks for all your help and advice.
