An Introduction, I guess

I'm crispycat. I've been interested in computers since I got a refurbished Acer laptop running Windows XP at the age of 4. At around 10 I had the desire to start developing software. I created my first website and started making some pretty useless apps in Visual Basic (yikes). Eventually I learned C# and more recently Java. As someone who is very passionate about digital privacy and cybersecurity, having full control over my phone is very important to me, and this forum has been very helpful.
Glad to see you here crispycat! Your background and contributions are appreciated!
Cheers

Welcome aboard officially
Hi I'm just a guy on the internet. I am self taught, adhd person and I care about free speech and personal ownership/responsibility. I dont like tech monopolies selling the illusion of ownership at $1400 for a device you are just renting space on. Root or nothing when it comes to ownership. If you cant get to root get as close as you can. I recently made a full switch to Debian 10, Mac Google and Microsoft can EAD I'm not giving them another dime, unless it gives me the opportunity to stick it to them or wake someone up.
I have a few cloud servers running Debian in various locations and names always on and some are switched on when needed. I like Inexpensive hardware and I am all about bootstrapping anything possible.
My experiences are exploring:
Arduino
BTC
Raspberry Pi
RepRap
3D Printing
CNC -GRBL
Debian 10
Wordpress
LAMP
MAMP
WAMP
XMPP
Android
RedSn0w 2016-17ish iPhone 3g
SSH
SCP
VNC

Welcome to you too!

New and want to learn.

So i'm new to coding and want my learn project to do with phones. I like linux phones for these reasons.

I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band...

Newbie here. Totally clueless. My primary reason for getting an account is to learn more about car Android head units. My factory OEM head unit has failed, and rather than spend a lot of money replacing an outdated and quirky unit, I decided to purchase a more up to date and probably still quirky Android unit.
I'll probably be asking a lot more questions and seeking enlightenment than providing any help -- at least for now. Once I get up to speed, I hope I can contribute to the great community.
I'm currently using an iPhone, a MacBook Pro, a Win 10 laptop, a Plex server. I'm eager to dabble with Android tablets, phones.

Welcome to XDA

Hello All XDA Members! I'm a tad unique, read more to find out (not clickbait I promise)

Hello fellow XDA Members,
I am a fairly new AOSP/Lineage and PostmarketOS mobile enthusiast coming straight from the Linux world. I have several idealisms that lead me here and to various other places.
First one: More command line tools=Greater superiority. Yes I use Artix GNU/Linux, but no I am not elitest. Linux Is superior for various resons, but there are compatibility issues, especially with MSM tool.
Second Idealism: Privacy and Open Source are a golden mix. Another reason I use Linux and Lineage/AOSP is becaause of their F.O.S.S. nature and their privacy comes as an added benefit to being light. I lean more toward DIY, hance my use of Artix Linux and LineageOS.
Third and final Idealism: Community will ALWAYS trump company, no matter how "community friendly" a company is. Once again another reason to use Linux and Lineage. While "blobs" of non-free firmware are sometimes necessary for compatibility, I try to avoid them, but understand that they are ok for now.
Beyond that, I began with /e/ on my Motorola G7 Power (ocean). I now run Lineage 20 instead to lighten it up a bit. As of writing this article, I have flashed 5 devices successfully including PostmarketOS w/KDE-Plasma-Desktop on a red OP6. I tried to make #6 a purple OP9, but ended up bricking it. It's still bricked at the point of writing and I have posted a question if anyone knows how to repair it with my "limitations".
It's really good to meet you all and I hope you enjoyed my story, though likely I may have bored you with my Linux babbling. I make music in my freetime and write shellscripts for UNIX-like Operating systems (mainly Linux) if you wanted something outside of here.
Peace,
D'Tor Aelek of Romulus
Welcome to the xda family.

T430 is an awesome laptop! Good to know another fellow T430 user although I've stopped using it a few months ago due to switching to the T440. Welcome to XDA!
