can't enter recovery mode - Sony Xperia 10 Questions & Answers

By all honesty I found a scratch-free xperia 10 in the electronics trash and after some research bought a new battery for it, and it now works!
Since the phone is PIN locked I try to do a hard reset (power + vol down) where I get 3 vibrations but no menu is showing up.
I've also tried resetting with Sony's "PC companion" and "Flashtool" apps, but get the notification that the phone is locked.
Any other way to fix this?

Finally killed my Z1

Any ideas how to fix this?
It started with the phone died by itself and wouldn't turn back on at all except it can go to Sony logo when I'm charging the phone.
First thing to do was to hard rest by pressing the orange clip (didn't work) then tried pressing power + vol up button (didn't work).
Second thing was to install via flashtool. Installation was successfully done but I can't turn the bloody thing on (battery is about 60%).
Any idea? I think I just killed it.
Another issue is that the phone is always stuck in fastboot mode when connected via usb.

Any water damage? Been in water?
Clean USB port with cocktail stick or q tip with alcohol. Try again.
Not bricked. Kernel is booting if Sony logo comes up. It is something else...
EDIT: Hold power and vol up together to hard reboot the phone

to rise your phone again use Sony's PC Companion-support. Follow the instructions of the application. I had the same ptob.

[Q] N6 AT&T: Screen will not turn on

I've had my phone almost a week now. Last night the screen stopped turning on. I can hear notifications telling me the phone is on, just not the screen. I did a google search and saw similar problems on the N4 and N5. I have tried there methods now over 100 times and still no success. I am holding POWER + VOLUME-DOWN for 15-20 seconds then plugging in USB port but this in a number of variations is not working. Is anyone else having this problem and do you know of a fix for this?
Phone is not rooted if that helps.
Make sure you still have battery (plug it into the wall) then hold down volume up+volume down+power until you get into the bootloader.. From there you can flash factory images or try going into recovery (use volume up to scroll to recovery mode) and do a factory reset. Once in recovery you will need to hold down the power button and tap the volume up button once to bring up the menu for factory reset.
tried that, no luck since the screen doesnt turn on. any other ideas?
you got a sod(sleep of death). the only way around this is to press the power button for 20-25 seconds straight, then reboot. or, there a possibility that your screen stopped working.
Have you tried plugging it into the computer and giving it adb commands to boot into BL?
I wonder if this is an issue with Android in general on rare occasions since KitKat. I had this problem too on my LG G2
yeah, i tried all of these methods and gave up. at&t gave me a new one since i was under 14 days. the lady said they had a whole batch of n6 they had to ship back because of problems and that the newest batch "should" be problem free.

Xperia Z... freeze and brick?

Hey there,
So today I was using my Xperia Z aaaand bam, phone "died".
Battery was at that time 70%, phone was a little bit hot, but in scale of 1 to 10 it was like 6. I had not problems previously with it (besides broken screen that got replaced 3 weeks ago). I was playing a game then suddenly it got closed and my screen got shifted. Like Animation of horizontal menu stucked while going to vertical. I pressed power button many times, I've keept holding it for a short time, long time... nothing. Phone did not respond at all. After 10 minutes it went black. No idea if it went "sleep" or so since power button do not work again.
I tried to reset it with Power + Volume down, Power + Volume up and again, nothing.
I've tried factory reset with Sony Companion but no luck either. Phone is NOT detected by that program.
However, when I plug the phone to PC I hear sound that some device has been found. Phone is presented now as QHSUSB_DLOAD in device manager. I've heard that not a good sign...
When I plug it to PC or Charger nothing happens so I have no idea if phone is getting charged or not.
What even more confusing, when I press power button - nothing, phone is COLD. But when I press Power + Volume down after a while it starts to get warm, after a long time of repeating this really warm.
Any ideas what could I do?
Thanks!

You phone has locked or unlocked bootloader? If unlocked, give a try to enter Fastboot mode and flash any custom ROM

Can you phone enter flashmode ? Does any LED indicator shows up when holding Volume +/- whilst connecting cable in PC (USB)?

S6 Active won't boot up

So I have been looking for weeks and I have not found a single person with the same problem as I do. Let's start off by saying what's wrong with it. I was on my phone, using it as I usually would when all of the sudden, it crashed and went to the Samsung Galaxy S6 boot up screen (It continued to stay like this forever), by the way, my device is NOT rooted. I'm unable to turn the device off manually so I have to wait for the screen to turn off on its own. When the device is off, holding the power button does absolutely nothing. The only way for the device to turn on is for me to plug it in. The two things I'm able to do is perform a stimulated battery pull (Volume up + Power) and get into download mode (Volume down + Power + Home). I cannot get into recovery mode with the device on or off either (Volume up + Power + Home). I've tried Odin and that doesn't work. It passes, but my device just resets and goes back to the boot screen forever. I've tried Samsung Smart Switch, but cannot do that either due to the program crashing every time I confirm my model number and S/N. I was just wondering if there's any other way I can fix my device on my own without getting a replacement. Thanks.

I had the exact same issue with my S6. You'll have to send it to Samsung as the Main Board has a fault

[SM-T510/T515] 2019 Galaxy Tab A 10.1 Hard Resets

Here's a quick reference for how to reboot and reset your 2019 Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (SM-T510/T515) using the hardware buttons:
Force restart:
- If your device is frozen and unresponsive, press and hold the Volume Down + Power keys simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it.
Boot to Recovery Mode:
- Power off the device
- Press and hold the Volume Up + Power keys at the same time.
- Release both keys when you see Recovery Mode.
Boot to Download Mode:
- Disconnect the USB cable
- Power off the device
- Press and hold the Volume Down + Volume Up keys
- Insert the USB cable
Boot to Safe Mode:
- Power off the device
- Press and hold the Power key.
- When the boot logo appears, release the Power key and then press and hold the Volume Down key.
- Continue to hold the Volume Down key until the device finishes restarting.
- Safe Mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Since there is no Bixby button, these combinations are different than the Galaxy S10. If you know of additional combinations, please contribute to the discussion below and I'll consolidate here.
If there’s no response on your device or you're stuck in a boot loop, then you might need to wait for the battery to drain. The 2019 Galaxy Tab A 10.1 has a non-removable battery pack, so disconnecting that isn't an option. Hopefully, the system reverts to its normal function with a cold boot. This can take time if the battery has high charge left at time of failure. Depending on how fast your battery drains, this can mean waiting for a few hours to several days.
UPDATE: With the right timing, you can break out of a boot loop into Download Mode...but it's tricky:
Insert USB Type C cable connected to your PC
Press and hold the Power and Volume Down keys for exactly 7 seconds (hard reset)
Release the Power key and press and hold both Volume Up & Down keys (enter Download Mode)
If you don't see the blue bootloader unlock warning screen, keep repeating the above two steps
The trick here is that you're trying to time your switch to the Download Mode keys for the exact moment the hard reset takes effect. If you see the boot logo while still holding the first key combination, it's too late. If you switch too early, you won't trigger the hard reset.
I've had to hold down both volume up and volume down while plugging in usb to get the unlock screen to populate. Canadian Wifi variant.

Thanks, that was an error in my initial post. I was figuring these out by trial and error, but it turns out that our hard resets are basically the same as for the Galaxy M30, which also uses the Exynos 7904 SoC and has no Bixby key.
https://www.hardreset.info/devices/samsung/samsung-galaxy-m30/download-mode/
UPDATE: Also the same as for the Galaxy A30 and some others.

Yes, I did the same way
US version
1. Enable OEM Unlock
2. Turn the tablet off and unplug the cable
3. Press and hold both volume up and volume down buttons and plug USB cable to host computer
4. You will get wipe screen. Long press volume up to unlock the bootloader.
Now I have to find matching ROM and patch the boot.img and flash.
I believe you have to disable Vault Keeper to keep root intact.
Brand new out the box 11am this morning.
Opened the parcel cool no damage. Powered up fine, had a mess with it, no problems check the speakers were fine and no issues plugged it on charge to 100% took it off and left it for an hour or so, went back to it and physically used it to use Facebook and play candy crush cool no problems. Took a few photos and no problems again. Put it on the side still on near 90% and went back to it 30 minutes later completely off and won’t turn back on, tried charging it nothing no sign of life, tried rebooting it and still nothing. Please tell me that this is not the end and I need to get a replacement... ?*

I’ve not even been able to get it back on, I’ve attemp a reboot countless of times and still nothing rectifys it. I spoke with Samsung they feel it’s a major fault with the tablet and have told me to request a replacement from my provider or even a refund.
Forgot pattern password, unable to power 510 Tab A off since pattern password is required. How to wipe tab or reset to factory without powering off?
