hello everyone, my redmi 8 refuses to flash all firmware except those that miui has already tried and lineage os and komodo os the phone just always boots into twrp at the same time when you flash miui rom even custom it accepts it and the system works successfully
did you format data? note, format =/= wipe, its different but definitely required on every new rom install

Hi everyone,
I'm using Redmi 4X (China Version) currently with the latest 8.11.15 Global Beta ROM. I would like to flash TWRP again and go back to Xiaomi.EU ROM. I'm a bit confused because: If I want to flash LineageOS for Redmi 4X (santoni), in the instructions it says "wipe system" but in Xiaomi.EU they say "don't wipe system". So if I want LOS for now, and then Xiaomi.EU, who is wrong and who is right? Or will I have any issues if I wipe system?
Yours sincerely,
CyNote / peryson
Wiping system is must before flashing any custom rom.

In Xiaomi.EU site they are saying when you flash their rom, do not wipe system or persist! (I'm confused)
Because I wanted to try LineageOS, and in LOS site they say to wipe system.
You must need to clean flash (including wiping system) when switching between different ROM but you don't need to wipe system if you are flashing same ROM or it's update.
E.g. as now you are using MIUI 8.11.15, so whenever next update releases you can flash update without wiping system.
So if you want to flash Lineage OS and your device has currently installed ROM is MIUI then you'll have to clean flash including wiping system.
This same applies to all other ROMs. If currunt ROM and the ROM you want to flash are different then you'll have to wipe system too.
If you've already installed xiaami.eu ROM installed already then you don't need to wipe system, you can directly flash update/on top of it.
Xiaomi.eu and MIUI are two different ROMs.
MIUI is official ROM from Xiaomi and Xiaomi.eu is modified ROM from official MIUI ROM hence they are different and requires clean flash if you switch in between.
You'll have clean flash including wiping system in order to flash Lineage OS on your device.
Do take full backup of your data before flashing.
Hope it clears your doubt.
Does anyone have the complete steps to flash the Android 11 GSI?

Do not flash GSI Rom But if you must, it's your decision.
Generally with GSI roms you only flash the system part. Everything else such as boot, vendor and drivers will be from a rom made for the mi8, such as an AOSP rom or a custom miui rom such as Xiaomi.EU. below are basic instruction after you already have a rom installed, have removed all passwords, and have chosen factory reset in recovery.
Follow these steps at your own risk, and be sure to make a backup first and copy it to your desktop
These are basic generalized Instructions after Formatting storage then installing a rom specifically made for the mi8. I strongly suggest that you do not Flash the new beta build, and that you instead wait for someone to build it specifically for the mi8.
The Mi8 can only use type A GSI's roms
1. Reboot Recovery
2. Perform factory reset, passwords must be removed or you will have a bootloop
3. Install GSI to system
4. Reboot to recovery, then reboot to OS > Setup > Enjoy testing it or enjoy your brick?
Once again, I would strongly suggest that you wait and not flash the new Android 11 rom. Also there is a very good chance that it will not boot to system, its early and beta builds are always super buggy at first. usually new builds are ready for non-Google devices by August.

Hello,
My mobile is unlocked. I have a stable global stock rom installed. I wanted to install the custom crdroid 5 rom under android 9 pie and reboot (after installaton), I have this message:
'Android system: there is an internal problem with your device. Contact your manufacturer for details.
The custom rom 'lineage-17.0-20191209-UNOFFICIAL-rolex' goes without problem ... I don't understand!

Try to wipe everything (including data) before installing new roms. Also, as i am using crdroid 6.3, i don't know about crdroid 5 but wiping data may fix it.
clean flash required. wipe everything except external sdcard before flash
Actually u can ignore that pop up its just because of treble supporting or u can change kernel it will not pop up .

I'm on global but what I did was flash original rom on miflash, finish set-up, boot to bootloader, flash twrp, install xiaomi.eu, format data, then reboot. I didn't wipe anything before flashing rom.

what recovery did you used?
ORangefox or official twrp?
Hi.
It's been a while since I flashed some ROM's so I am out of the loop a bit.
I just bought a Mi 8 SE off ebay. The ROM is the so called fake ROM MIUI GLOBAL 9.5.8.0 (Android 8.1). I intended to flash a new ROM and to my surprise it already contains a custom TWRP recovery. The TWRP is version 3.2.3 1102. Is this a really old one? Should I reflash the latest TWRP from TWRP.me or can I use this old TWRP to flash?
What I want to do is flash Xiaomi.eu MIUI 11 20.3.26 (Android 10). Do I need to format DATA in TWRP and then transfer the Xiaomi.eu ROM to the phone when I try and flash? Do I need any GAPPS when I flash Xiaomi.eu ROMs?
One more thing. Out of interest how would I go about flashing the last stock Chinese ROM for the MI 8 SE? Would I use MiFlash tool?
Any tips would be gratefully received.
