I mistakenly installed an app which disables all hardware buttons, so i can't do factory reset or use remote controller to uninstall the app. How can i fix it.
Is it possible to enter recovery mode to factory reset?
Thank you.

Did you try:
From the Chromecast device
While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED will start blinking yellow?
When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast will then reset?

Try to press and hold the small button on the back of the Chromecast.
The LED will blink orange (continue holding) and then turn solid white, hold for an additional 20 - 30 seconds.
Once you let go it should say restoring factory settings on your TV. Once going through the set up be sure to go to settings and install any updates available for the remote.

I think i have two choices, an otg hub to connect a mouse to uninstall the app or entering recovery mode to factory reset. It seems that it is impossible to enter recovery mode.

I have Home app installed but there is no factory settings option. Only remote control and device info. Remote control feature also uses bluetooth so it functions as hardware button too. Thank you.
UPDATE:
I ordered the otg adapter in the link below two weeks ago and today received it.
Connected my mouse and keyboard receiver with this hub to my Chromecast. After that, it took a while but i successfully uninstalled the application.
Luckily no needed to change Chromecast's power adapter.

I wrote the application which causes the problem. I removed the code which disables the buttons and reinstalled it. I was lucky because Solid Explorer was already installed and SMB was set. I copied the new app with solid explorer to Chromecast then installed and problem was gone. Otherwise there was no solution.
Brother, can it be connected directly to the computer with a usb cable? And is there an easier procedure to boot into recovery mode?

Was working yesterday on another network and tv (Won't have access to that setup in a long time). Today it just stays on "Starting your chromecast..." or the exclamation mark. Tried to reset and it does not, light doesn't even blink.
Also at first today tried to use it on the receiver, but since it didn't work connected it directly to the tv and the same thing. I have to be doing a n00b mistake. I'm using the usb to dongle power, at first I used the receivers usb port.

i did hard resets on one of mine 2-3 times at you sometimes need to hold the button for close to 30 seconds. From the way you describe it the device seems like it wasnt completely setup.
You can do a hard reset from the drop down menu on chrome browser from your computer.

you honestly wont even need it plugged into the tv, just powered. You will know its reset as the light starts to blink. I doubt its fried or you wouldnt get anything on the tv at all.
Here is one. Mine displays a pink status light and wont display on ANY TV I plug it into. I press and hold the reset button and nothing happens.
Any ideas?

I'll try that today, I know its not fried just in a boot loop. At least the other one I have is working.
Well it's still in the boot loop, the reset does not work (no flashing light) even when not on the hdmi port. I have an otg cable on the way so, I'll have to wait until someone makes some custom rom or something or send it back for a replacement since I have no idea what happen to it.

Mine gets stuck when trying to do a factory reset, and a couple of colored dots appear on the right-ish side of the screen. That image stays no matter how long I hold the button (tried for over 2 minutes more than once) It will boot into the regular splash screen if I don't hold the button, but like I said it won't reset...ideas?
Our chromecast up at work bit the dust in the same way you described. Light pink status light and it won't reset or connect.

AFAIK that's a sign of the original (vulnerable) bootloader trying to load from USB.
Let the Chromecast boot normally (don't hold down the button while powering it up) first, then press and hold the button until the light turns red.
The colored dots mean something went wrong in the bootloader. It's very unlikely that you'll be able to recover from that unless you have a rooted device with a vulnerable bootloader (and even then you'd probably need to open it up and solder up the UART). The "Starting your Chromecast" screen means it successfully booted the kernel but content_shell (the main process) isn't starting for some reason. I'm fairly sure that content_shell is what handles the reset button press, so again, if you don't have a vulnerable bootloader, you're probably out of luck and your best option is to try to exchange the unit for a new one.
hi guys
I have a problem in my Chromecast

Sounds like you need a reset as it does not seem to be booting properly....
What screen do you see on the CCast?
Are you powering the chromecast from the tv's USB? It's possible the voltage supplied from the TV is not compatible with the chromecast. Try the wall adapter that came with it.

Try gently wiggling the button back and forth - some units have had "sticky" buttons, though in your case it sounds like maybe it's misaligned and not pushing the actual button.
You could try flicking the button with your finger too, but if you really can't reset it, probably best to get a replacement.
Try logging in with the setup app and doing a Factory Reset...
After I did a factory reset of my Chromecast I had issues setting it up with my mobile device (nexus 6). Turned out that I had privacy guard on and it was blocking location from the Chromecast app. Once I allowed that it setup just fine. Hope that helps anyone out there.

yes and dont know what to because my screen is a little bit broken and they will charged me new screen for power button
The only way to go would be to change the motherboard, sorry, I always install some apps to reduce the use of the power button since day one, I use gravity screen to awake the screen, and invisible widgets to turn it off, and shortcutter to make a tile to call the power menu, so, I only use the power button to ACTUALLY power the device ON

Here it was, I thought I was being conservative by using fingerprint unlock to save a few presses on my power button.
I wonder if the OP has a saved alarm set to go off at a specific time. I then forgot that the alarm clock doesn't work when the phone is off.

^^^That is taking it too far now. I assume you use wireless charging to save your USB port, and SSH to access your phone remotely, to save your phone from screen burn-in?
Edit: then there is bluetooth speakers / headphones to save the built in speaker.

Sorry to correct you, but it's power and volume UP ! not down! Of course what's important is to have the phone connected via USB cable to a PC, or pen drive, power bank etc, otherwise it will just boot to normal Android OS.

Not necessarily, any USB-C to USB-A cable should work. Make sure the phone is completely switched off. You need to press vol up+power for some time until the Samsung splash screen changes to the recovery mode.

Is this of any help:
Have you enabled developer mode and you have it set up for USB debugging already? If so you can use the ADB command line to restart your phone by issuing the following from a command prompt in the directory you installed ADB/Fastboot or anywhere if you put them in your path variable -- "ADB reboot recovery"
If you're not having any luck with that, you may need to reset (NOT factory reset, that will wipe everything) press and hold the volume down key and the bixby/power key and hold them for a 15 second count, even when the device powers off. This combination will power it off no matter what. After the slow count of 15, release the keys, plug in your USB cable, and press and hold power/volume up key as the previous posters instructed you - until the phone starts and you see the logo - this should boot you into recovery mode as well.
Is your phone booting into the system? If so, a 3rd option you may avail yourself of is an restarting app for non-rooted devices such as Shutdown, there are several, read the descriptions and pick your poison from the Google play store (If you're running a stock device make sure the app you choose doesn't require root) it will however, require you to grant accessibility permissions - full control of device and SHUTDOWN in order to function - and that will give you the option to reboot to recovery mode.
Good Luck, L4XS
I cannot boot in to recovery mode. Volume up & power key won't work (cable is not helping). Any idea?
Timing is everything. Relax... I hit reboot and once the screen flashes off hold the volume up button until the menu comes up.
Won't work. I did try this so many times.
Try this:
Power down the smartphone.
Then wait a few seconds for it to completely shut down. ...
Now press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons at the same time.
And continue holding these two buttons down even after the Galaxy S21 starts to boot back up.
Not working... I don't know what is wrong.

Unplug the cable if you haven't.
Did you toggle on Developer options?
Try turn it off.
Turned developer options off still no luck. Weird.
If your timing is off with the button push it will do that. Sometimes it takes one time, sometimes 2 or 3. Don't power off; hit restart. Before it starts to boot have the volume up button depressed.
LADB is so much easier for stuff like this if unrooted. once setup properly, just issue out
Code:
reboot recovery
I gave up. I am going to shi...y Samsung Store tomorrow to do this. It is unbelievable. All my browsers lags and I cannot simply clear a cache. Every day I am regretting swap from 1+8 pro. Saying it won't work is impossible to predict. If it does work, and many times it does, the issue is gone... a cheap but good trick.
Clearing the system cache is part of the light maintenance I do or when odd behavior occurs.

I couldn't get it to work either, until I had the usb cable connected to my laptop - then it was able to boot in to recovery mode and let me clear the cache.
I tried it just with the cable in the phone, the cable in the charger and the phone, no cable and the only way it worked was with the cable connected to laptop and phone with the laptop powered on.
Odd!

That's very strange behavior.
Maybe a firmware, C port PCB or mobo issue.
Keep an eye on it... no likey.
Try this:
