I'm getting ready to change to an EU or Global ROM as soon as they are published. For previous OP phones, you would just go to https://www.oneplus.com/global/support/softwareupgrade , download the ROM, copy in the root folder of the phone and simply install it via System > System updates > Local upgrade. Once done, restarting and clearing the cache would be enough to enjoy the different stock ROM.
I can't find a Local upgrade in the new ColorOS, the closest thing is "Trial versions".
Is it possible to simply install a different region ROM without unlocking bootloader, etc? I'm waiting for the EU or Global ROMs to be released to try it myself but so far I'm a bit confused by the India ROM installation posts floating around.
Can anyone clarify if OnePlus has removed the simple Local upgrade or the current posts are dealing with some sort of ripped ROMs that require the additional installation hassle of unlocking bootloader to work?

Confirmed, it shows up as "Local install" although it's greyed out (?)
Would oxygen updater work for this? The software will automatically recognise the phone and download the ROM, you'd need to choose full update.
Then use fastboot to flash each image directly to each partition.
All images can be found within a full firmware within payload.bin, use payload dumper to extract the images and flash.
Haven't done this myself but it's possible it may work.

You can download full OTA package in my channel: https://t.me/s/OnePlusOTA
Then use https://github.com/libxzr/FastbootEnhance to flash.
There is a certain brick risk. Please make sure you have enough ability to repair before trying.

He's already changed region as far as I can tell, but the bloat is still present..
Might be worth trying another firmware tbh..
Local install is greyed out because there is an update pending. Put the phone offline, make hidden files visible and delete the update files or simply reset the phone, do not connect the WiFi during setup and activate developer options.
In any case, I've tried EU/IN official full ROM and both fail. This used to work just fine but seems to be gone now. Other users using using alternate methods to flash the EU ROM report Chinese bloatware still present, so looks like the install is not clean.
What a disaster.

Xiaomi Redmi 6A gets stable Android 9 Pie update. The first ROM version with Pie is MIUI 10.4.1.0. It is currently being rolled out to all users in a random manner. The guide to install this ROM manually is written below.
The first impression is good. No drastic change have been noticed. I was looking for the Digital Wellbeing and AI Battery features, but as of now, I only found the latter feature. The system font also seems a little lighter.
Little 3G/4G icons are shown above the network bars on the status bar. Some settings are moved around, but not much have been added.
Talking of problems, I haven't found anything that hampers usage greatly, but the Auto Brightness feature seems to be broken.
Overall, its mostly under-the-hood update. I expect more features to be added eventually. I should also say that, Xiaomi announced that Redmi 6A will get MIUI 11 along with Android Pie. So that's good.
How to instalk this update?
If you are on the Global Stable ROM, then you will receive this update very soon. But if you don't want to wait, you can do it manually. Here's how.
1. First download the update from HERE and keep it in your phone somewhere accessible, preferably in Download folder.
2. Open Settings, select About phone, then select System update.
3. Tap on the "10" logo a few times untill you get a notification about additional settings being unlocked.
4. Tap the 3 dot button and select Choose update package.
5. Select the file thatbyou downloaded. It will now gather information about the update and ask you to reboot your phone. Do it.
6. It will now start verifying the downloaded file and after that, it will automatically continue with the update process.
7. Then the phone will reboot again and the MI logo will show up. This time it will take about 5-10 minutes for the boot process to complete.
8. After the phone boots up, you have successfully updated your Redmi 6A to Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10.4.1.0.
Works great :good:
Works perfect. Thanks

Idk if it is just me, or I can't download official ROMs from anywhere like am I blocked? Can someone upload official latest 8.1 ROM (fastboot flash), I can't download it from official en.miui.com, I've tried everywhere, please?
Fastboot rom for this version is not released yet guys, and there is no available english TWRP working with this update either.
I got the message via updater that the version 10.4.4.0 is ready, update from 8.1 to 9 but every time I press "download" it says "something went wrong, try again later". I tried to download the rom manually but it's impossible to find it! Every link leads to a dead bigota.miui page and you can't download from anywhere, tried over 30 different links. Anyone knows what is this about?
Or, can someone upload 10.4.4.0 global recovery ROM somewhere please? Thanks.

Hello everyone, I as the title says, I got the Tencent version (8/128GB) with the global ROM installed. I found that this is most likely a modified version (which is weird as my unit came sealed). Everything works just nice except for the OTA updates, as it just says there are not new updates available.
My question is, is there currently any relatively safe method to update the software to the latest version? For me is a bit important to be able to have software updates, but I don't really want to run the risk of bricking my device.
I read this post about Flashing WW ROM and Changing CN fingerprint to WW https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-2/how-to/flashing-ww-rom-changing-cn-fingerprint-t3969765 but I don't really know if this are the steps to follow as my device already has the WW ROM, and I'm not very familiar with the "fingerprint" topic.
Here are two screenshots of my device info:

Thanks for your answer. So basically changing the fingerprint will allow me to get automatic OTA updates? Or will I need to manually download and place them into the storage to get recognized, or will I have to flash them?

Tencent version with global ROM is not supported by Asus so no OTA updates. You can download raw ROM and follow guides to manually flash without data loss.
how to do that, without lose data manual flash?
Very simple, just download the official firmware from asus website and save in the root of internal storage. Thereafter, reboot and your phone will prompt you for software update.
Manual Update failed
Manual update is failing, I uploaded the screenshot of my phones firmware and the update I downloaded below. Thanks

If your fingerprint and firmware are both WW, but it still get the error when updating, try doing the last WW-16 update and then the WW-17. I think it is a too big jump for the system. there is 2 different android versions between (9 and android 10) as you know.

do you think ist will be possible to "overwrite" the CN Rom with the global Rom when its available for the X60?

Someone told me that you have to flash the chinese Version first within the recovery and then the indian.
Could you try that?
But for the chinese Version you need an vpn to the vivo.cn

Hi,
I have tried the same thing, with same results ... not working. All I can say is that the chinese version of the ROM is not available on the chinese Vivo website, don't know why.
Do you want to change in order to test the Funtouch OS, or for some other reason ?
For me, I just dont wanna "test" Funtouch OS, I think its much better for an European User since Google Services arent really supported in Origin OS.
It's the same in my case...
And there must be a way to do this.

I want to grab the chinese firmware in order to try rooting by flashing Magisk Patched Boot Image using Fastboot. Not sure this may work, though I want to give it a try at least.

Good Morning
To sync your Gmail contacts you need to download "google contacts Sync apk" from the web.
The idea of overwriting the global version with Funtouch OS is a very good one. However Origin OS works fine with the latest Vivo updates.
Just run adb to disable Chinese bloatware.
The only thing I really miss is Android Auto and that the preloaded application cloning app (Settings / Applications and permissions / Application cloning) is compatible with WhatsApp.
The latter I could solve with WhatsApp Business.
The Android Auto bug with the floating window permissions I could also fix it using adb but unfortunately there is no connection with the vehicle's infotainment system.
Has anyone got a solution?
Greetings

Hello everyone,
I just have a small question, since I have installed on my Chinese mi11 the global version, I don't seem to receive any update, the last update I had installed is the 12.5.1, and when I see online the last version is 12.5.5, but the phone checks the update and says "no update available"
the same thing on my wife's phone, it's a global version that I flashed with the global version too, but she doesn't get any update,
any idea ?
thanks a lot !
Global is still 12.5.1, i think.
What is your Build Code ? 12.5.1.0.RKBEUXM ? or 12.5.1.0.RKBMIXM
If you have EUXM it's a EEE/EEA (European Version) and it's actually the lastest build.
If you have MIXM it's a Global (International Version) and actually 12.5.3.0 is the lastest build.
So depending yourRegion Code, you can download the Fastboot ROM and install local update easily.
My Mi 11 Claud White was EUSF (because an EU custom by my carrier) and i have unblock Bootloader (waiting 168 Hours - [1 week]) and migrate on MIXM Glabal International for have more recent update.

You must download from the phone the recovery type from the following link, it weighs 3.3GB

Once downloaded select the downloaded file from the 3-point menu Select update package mentioned above, it will check the file, then it will ask you if you want to approve the update.
For this you do not need to unlock Bootloader, since the update is installed as if it had arrived by OTA.

Root your phone, but that comes with its own risks
Or just use adb to to remove them.
there are many tutorials on using ADB to remove system apps.
Hi all,
Anyone able to upload the Apk of camera app of the latest CN version? Would it work on the global version? If anyone got it, please upload, I think it is worth a shot.
You may find the APK will say that you can't update system apps, just to warn you. Some I've tried in the past have said this. I've not tried to sideload it via adb though, that may be possible, may be someone who has can confirm?
Actually I guess you'd need more than the camera apk to get the latest camera improvements from Xiaomi.
That being said it's not a bad idea to try. Should be easy to extract from the latest ROMs. I'll give it a try when I have a bit of time (Otherwise if anybody can post it indeed, that will spare me a bit of work )
***Edit: I think that's the correct file. Extracted from the EU Rom v12.5.11 (I haven't tried it yet)

Indeed I think you will have to use ADB to install it (It refused to install when I tried). Both camera apps being signed by Xiaomi and the new one having a higher version number, it may work as far as I could read online.
Thank you for the APK file, i am side loading it right now, will check and update you.
it failed here as well,

i've tried to uninstall camera, and install the new camera version, but still getting INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES
anyone got any ideas?
anyone with root can try if it will work on his phone?
I could try but I'm on 12.5.12 so it would be a downgrade which might stop it installing

Would be great if you can back up camera Apk file and camera tools and upload to us, seems like first file uploaded earlier was backed up incorrectly (without signing app). Let us know if you can help with that please

Why not install the latest Xiaomi.eu rom. It's based on the china rom, so it has the most current features, which are not in the global version, plus all the Chinese bloat and script has been removed and Google services added. Best of both worlds.

Don't have to root and unlocking doesn't void your warranty with Xiaomi.

U dont need to root
And can relock bl at anytime if u want
But will be a fresh install, that's why I want to pick the Apk files alone.
It won't work.Try to install an APK of a MIUI launcher and tell me what happens.

on telegram channel they upload all types of chinese applications including launcher, and most of them would work on global, but they never uploaded camera. i believe it should not be an issue and will work since its just a version of the app.
***just a guess and i'd try it and test it my self.

The way phones are partioned today, I believe you have to be rooted in order to modify anything in the system partition and I believe, that evin if you could successfully create an APK of the camera app, it wouldn't load successfully as it would need to modify the system partition. and you don't want to root or even flash a rom, so...

I think what are you saying is logical. But maybe with adb we can get something that can update the camera app

And that would require root. Logic, it's a *****, but you go ahead and try or contact your buddies on telegram. Unless you are rooted, you can only modify the users data partition. Anything that the OEM installs, except

You go ahead and try. The only partition a user can modify (without root) is the users data partition. OEMs generally load things that they feel is pertinent to the operation of their device to the system partition, so that users can't accidentally delete required files. You would need to have write rights (permissions) to be able to delete or overwrite anything in the system partition and OEMs generally setup the system partition for users with rights to only be able to read and execute or see and run the app.
