I have a USB pen drive with a website I have copied from a CD. I can open the home page. But it I click/press any link that points to another subdirectory on the same "website", it tells me that content is blocked. Can anyone help me as to how to unblock it?
I have tried it with Chrome and with Samsung's Internet browser and neither one works, so I suspect it is a security setting within Android.
Many thanks

it is possible for the g1 to print wirelessly right?
is there a program out there that i dont know about that lets you do this? , because i've been looking but found nothing.
I guess it hasn't been created yet.......?
I would love this functionality as well since my printer is wireless. Would be great but I dont know if it will happen.
It is most definitely possible, but has not been implemented.
What you need in order to print;
install CUPS,
add application support.
If you have debian installed, you most certainly will already have the ability to print.
Note that even if CUPS was installed, you would not be able to print from ANY existing android application since they lack this functionality.
CUPS is the common unix printing system (developed by Apple). In Windows, when you buy a printer, you trust that, either the manufacturer has given you a working driver to install from a CD, or that Windows' endless array of popups will find it for you.
On unix-alikes, you toss the CD and trust that CUPS and its dependencies will have a serviceable driver already.
So no, you shouldn't have to make specific devices for each printer. They should already exist if CUPS supports them.

with the ability to view PDFs and office docs as well as view and edit google docs via the browser it would be great to be able to discover networked printers and spool print jobs to them, any chance of this functionality coming around sometime soon?

I found an app awhile back that will let you print wirelessly the only thing you have to do is download a file onto the pc.
thats printershare
which is an ok solution i suppose, but does require a print server app to be installed on the host pc. I'd rather have the ability to browse the network from android and choose an existing printer as a target then use cups or try to install the driver via the web. Big issue with android apps not supporting this though, probably not going to happen. bummer really.
yeah i tried out the app and installed it on my g1 and file server. after i launched the app it showed its major flaw. If security permissions are not set on the host pc your printer shows online for everyone who is running the app. i saw printers from all over the country. i thought about sending a print job but didnt
^^lol^^
I thought the same thing. Plus it just didn't work. too funny.
Until there is a solution that uses IPP and not somebody's proprietary crud, there is no network printing solution for 'droid.
I am using this application and i updated it and now i can't open my computer drive in it it says
path doesn't exist
anyone knows how to share the pc through this application ??
I forgot how I eventually got it working, but I do remember jumping from different SDKs really caused problems for the various remote sharing/samba apps. I finally gave up trying since I was bouncing back and forth from different builds that were based on different SDKs.
My suggestion, download Filezilla FTP Server (assuming you have a Windows PC). That will allow you to run an FTP server on your home computer/laptop/network. Install it. Then go to dyndns.org and sign up for a free account. THey will give you a free domain name (actually a subdomain, but that's fine). While at dyndns.org, make sure you get their DNS update program (it's free). It will regularly update your IP address and link it with your free domain name. Then from the market, get AndFTP. You'll then be able to FTP to your own computer, anytime and anywhere (as long as you're computer is on and awake). You won't have to have a wifi connection, it can be done anywhere you have a data connection on your phone. You won't have to be on your own network. It's all super easy to do, and you won't be bugged by these nagging problems when bouncing from different roms.
I received a 64GB Kingston Wi-Drive for Christmas. I was a little bummed that it didn't support NTFS (if using the wireless) but have discovered other uses for the drive.
Some people have complained that you can't use it with media libraries like XBMC, but you can.
Click "Add Videos..." -> On the "Add Video Source" pop-up Click "Browse" -> Choose "Add network location..." -> Choose "Web server directory (HTTP)" as the protocol and enter "192.168.200.254" as the "Server Address" (if connected directly to the Wi-Drive... If your Wi-Drive is bridging your home wireless connection you can use the IP your router assigned to the Wi-Drive). -> Click "Done" -> Click "OK" -> Choose the newly added location: "http://192.168.200.254:80" and click "OK" -> Enter a name for the media Source and then click "OK".
You can then choose a Content Scraper based on the content.
Can you not connect to the WiDrive using ES File Explorer or another file manager that can access wifi?

Astro and ES File Explorer just support Samba and FTP... not HTTP. The Wi-Drive app is basically just a file manager itself. You can open files individually using whatever default media player you want. But since the storage is not mounted, you can't index you media in a library, unless you do something like I did with XBMC.
Thanks for that, I've been thinking about getting one myself purely for file storage and was hoping it would be easy access via a file manager.

You can also open files by just going to the web page (http://192.168.200.254) in Chrome. Kingston is using apache and WebDAV for hosting the content on the drive. I'm going to look into the webserver portion to see if I can add support for other protocols.
I've also put in a support request with both Metago (Astro) and EStrongs (ES File Explorer)
I know it's off topic, and I do apologize.
Kind of a similar setup. I have a Tmobile sonic hotspot that allows you to put a micro in it, and you can access files over a webui. I've ordered a card, but does it seem feasible this might work?
I wouldn't consider ordering the card a waste regardless, but it would be nice, seeing how my n7 lacks the basic ports, and otg cables are an annoyance.
I have kingston wi-drive and can not seem to playing a video leads the Apple TV via xbcm thank you
Is there any adblocker available for WP8? Can't seem to find any in the marketplace and it's irritating when browsing to a webpage will cause content refresh at certain sites, bringing the browser to some other third-party site and having no control over the final destination even though the URL address at the bottom remains the same..

It isn't possible for now. It might be possible with an unlocked phon (but even that isn't 100% sure, also because for now the unlock is only available for samsung ativ s).
ATIV S / Odyssey with full FS access can use HOSTS file blocking. It doesn't completely remove the apps of course, but it prevents them from connecting. No option for other Windows phones right now, though.
I know the Store has shut down since last 2 months and most of the Microsoft services for Windows Phone are already dead or cut off. We all know that we can no longer download and install apps in the Store and now we depend on cracked and/or deployable XAP files and APPX/Bundle files on the Internet. But can we share our "surviving" installed marketplace apps thru one app? Like maybe making an ALTERNATE store for WP...
Well, Microsoft would (maybe) not care if we do this since Windows Phone is dead so why not give it a try? Sharing our installed apps (by extracting it from their Installation Folder and zipping it/recompile it) to others would help a lot, especially for users who don't have time to bother buying a new non-Windows smartphone.
Also can someone make or share a "Tap the tile to lock phone screen" app? I desperately need one because my power button is broken.
I would share my installed software if I would know how to retrieve them.

You can (for XAP files) using this method from this YT video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buWOsHd6jdg
The method works for SD card apps.
For Internal, boot phone into Mass Storage Mode (you need to root your phone using WPI). Then, in your PC, go to MainOS > Data > PROGRAMS. Copy either everything or a specific app (via GUID), and do as what the video also show how.
For APPX or APPXBundle apps, go to WINDOWSAPPS folder whilst in PROGRAMS (internal) or WPSystem\Apps (SD) directory. Then, copy the app files.
For APPX, those without any similar names of the app.
For APPXBundle, those with similar names of the app plus the cpu architectures "arm", and "neutral" (there may be two more of those "neutral" ones, but join them also).
Then create (on your PC) a self-signed certificate, pack each package (for APPXBundle, pack them app but put into a seperate folder so that they wont join in the others), sign them one by one, (for APPXBundle, pack them into a bundle, and sign them (again? idk)), and your done.
To check if they're deployable, i recommend deploying them one by one on an emulator or on a separate device. If you deploy one but fails, the tendency of the app with the same app GUID installed on your phone being uninstalled is high.
I know many people still using Wp 8.1 and still need install App for Wp, but Store closed. Waiting for help ! Can some great devoloper do that ? Sorry my bad English !

use android :good:
Did anyone try to look how far we can get in replicating the original App Store's backend? Might hit a road block sooner or later with signing etc., but I was surprised to see at least the initial communication is HTTP only:
Code:
GET /v9/catalog/storePages?typeId=DynamicHub.Main&os=8.10.15148.0&cc=DE&lang=de-DE&hw=520190980&dm=RM-984_1001&oemId=NOKIA&moId=&cf=99-1&Flight=&SEG0=%3B&SEG1=&SEG2=&SEG3=&SEG4=&SEG5=&optedOut=true HTTP/1.1
Connection: Keep-Alive
Accept: */*
Accept-Encoding: gzip
User-Agent: ZDM/4.0; Windows Mobile 8.1
X-WP-Client-Config-Version: 81001
X-WP-Device-ID: ******
MUID: *******
X-WP-StorePage-Cookie: *******
Host: cdn.marketplaceedgeservice.windowsphone.com
That request then times out after a while since it goes via akamai and probably tries to hit backend servers that no longer exist (504 Gateway Time-out).
Unfortunately I never captured the traffic while the store was still working, so the question is how to figure out what to reply to this.
