I'm running regular Android 12 (SP2A.220405.003). Since the April 2022 security update I've noticed that when media is play and I receive an incoming phone call (whether I answer or not) the media will continue playing after the call but will have no audio out on Bluetooth or USB. The phone speaker still will play audio through. Additional calls in/out with BT or USB have no issues. With troubleshooting it seems to be the handoff between the phone and media is not occuring, and only a device restart will correct the issue. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Really not enough information here to hazard a guess. Is this across multiple devices or just one? Is this your car or a bt speaker? Is it the car's head unit or a bt device connected to the car via aux cord. What type of bt device? What make/model bt speaker/headset? In my case I use three different bt speakers and in my car a cheap TP Link bt 4.1 receiver. Handoff on all of them seems to work ok.
Have you tried resetting your network settings (reset wifi, mobile & bt)? Also try the "reset app preferences" option right below it. If you have been jacking around with bt settings in dev options you may have to try a dirty flash to straighten things out. If not BL unlocked, flash a full OTA image from recovery via adb.
I have the same exact issue Philo. Just started, super annoying. As described above, I'll have my phone connected via Bluetooth to my car or headset listening to a podcast, music, etc., and a call with come in. The call audio switches over just fine, but after I'm done with the call the phone won't switch back to the music or podcast audio. Disconnects and reconnects won't solve it. I have to reboot the phone or re-pare Super annoying. I actually get a second volume bar now too. (screenshot)

I have a three connector headset dongle that allows me to connect my USB, Headphones, and Headset.
Is it possible to disable the phones disabling of the phone Mic when this dongle is present?
I know I can alter the headset connector by unsoldering the headset wire (which is makes the phone switch to headset mic when it is grounded) but was wondering if there was an easier way.
Thanks!
No.
If you removed that wire it wouldn't disable the internal mic, but it wouldn't deactivate the internal speaker nor activate the headphones.
That's why there are better dongles that have a mic inside
Maybe I wasn't very clear.
I have one of these...

and I am only using it for power and headphones (so two of the connectors).
When I use the adapter I cannot use the internal microphone because it thinks there is also a headset connected to the 3rd port.
I can't find the diagram (which may be helpful) but what happens is the mic is shorted to ground when you plug in this adapter... I am not sure if reading that the mic is shorted is a hardware or software "switch" though.
Nope you were clear and I understood it right, but maybe I wasn't...
When you plug a headset into the Kaiser, there's a contact in the plug that tells it it's present, which makes it deactivate its internal mic and speaker, and activate the headset output and mic input.
If you removed that contact the internal mic would work but you'd have no sound in the headphones.
In this adapter the mic input is not shorted but connected to the 3rd plug you're not using, so that when you plud a standard HTC headset there its mic will be used.
As you're not alone in your situation, some better adapters have a mic in their body so that you can talk even without connecting the headset, which you'd want to do.

I am not so sure about this because if I remember correctly (after taking apart my connector) there is groundable connection specifically for the mic. The reason I am doubtful is realistically there's no reason the headphone output should ever cease.
Unfortunately I have already buried the connector and use bluetooth so it happens to default to that mic anyway.
Just out of curiousity do you have the pinout for this device handy?
Edit: Attached the pinout (took longer to find than expected)
I disected the little pushy talky (yes... i know... real technical) headset connector I have and I have mixed feelings about this mic issue.
Let me clarify that the end product is an adaptor that allows for audio listening but uses the internal mic.
Now, the reason I have mixed feelings is that it's actually the device deciding to play audio through those two left/right channel wires. For instance, take voice commander and hit your voice command button. The device keeps the audio opened but without the "switch" being grounded.
I didn't want to completely destroy this adaptor so I will bust out the soldering iron tommorrow and play.

Edit: the issue was really killing my curiousity so I cut the little mic that came from the headset off. I was still able to say a voice command using the internal mic BUT let me make a note that I think something voice command is doing is allowing audio to playback through the headsets even though the volume is turned to vibrate.
Maybe there is something about the two other ground connectors that need to be addressed.
Anyone else have some light to shine on the subject?
Well, I have a similar issue. I have an adapter too (build into the car holder) and sometimes I want to be able to listen to music or the navigation voice via the line in of my car radio. At other times I want to listen to a CD in the Radio and only occationally hear the navigation voice via the internal device speaker. I have tried to de-solder some of the pins to find out which one it is to sense a headset to be able to put in a little switch so I can select where I want to have the audio but failed so far. Has anyone got any tips which contact(s) I need to switch? Thx.
---Thinking about it, is there even a software switch I could use to disable the headset? (BTW Iam using a TouchPro)---
---More to this: Others have asked about similar too, e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418713. But what makes me even more curious is the fact that we the device is cinnected to the adapter it thinks that there is an antenna connected too and allows radio use (so no need for the reg hack to enable this) but then in the Radio application you can enable the speaker and then you can listen to it via the speakers.......so there must be something in software ......?

much expected it to
BT21G is xperia compatible. I have one myself. However, it is a pain in the neck to activate A2DP.
want to hear music the headset must support A2DP (stereo)
want to talk then connect the device as normal
the heatset normal (mono) only used to talk

I have paired my old Sony Ericsson HBH-DS980 and the new MW600 stereo headsets for music and calls. both worked fine during the first pairing process. however Nexus S did not recognize MW600 after couple of days, may be it got confused with my old and new bluetooth signatures. so i made a backup of my phone and did a factory reset and started using MW600 with just pairing it once. its working fine without any problem. btw which headset (model) are you using?
P.S.
the stock music player sucks big time in nexus, i use PowerAmp app for my music needs and its awesome!!

I did factory reset because of the restart issue during an active calls and now the BT headset working fine. I use HBH-PV720 , not stereo so I don't use it to listen to music anyway
I've been using a BlueAnt T1 and encountered no pairing issues. Very good headset so far. I really like the fact it has A2DP support so I can listen to podcasts, radio stations, etc. while still retaining a professional look than wearing one of those stereo headsets.

Sonorix C3
I am currently having problems with a new Sonorix C3. Doesn't seem to hold the connection to the phone consistently, and when the connection drops it just turns off after a few seconds unless you connect to it from the phone. I emailed the manufacturer, but it looks like it will be a while before they can debug the issue.
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a Bluetooth earpiece with a small LCD that would enable me to see the caller's name when receiving a call and to scroll through my contacts' list for making a call.
Thanks!!
bluetooth stereo calerID for hd2
Hi I use SonyEricsson MW600. it is bluetooth, it have led display calerID which works, also it have radio and minijack port so you can use your own headphones (mic is in device). Only thing is issue with bad quality sound but it can be done by corecting registry walue responsible for coding data. it is a HD2 issue. this device is not supported with hd2. but the best i think. and quite cheap.
Thanks for the advice. The MW600 seems to have 2 headphones connected into it - can it be put directly in the ear without the headphones?
I am looking for something smaller similar to the LG 210 :

Small and easy to put into the ear because I really don't want to carry a pair of headphones with me when using the bluetooth earpiece. Do you have any other recommendation?
I have an old Jabra BT8010, which was really nice cause you could attach the 2nd earpiece to use as stereo headphones, too. It also would vibrate when calls came in, which was cool.
Recently I've been looking for an new headset with caller ID that can also be used as stereo headphones, and I'm planning on buying a Sonorix C3... great reviews on amazon, and you can use your own headphones with it, or even hook a speaker up to it. It's very nice looking, too. http://www.amazon.com/Sonorix-Bluetooth-Headset-Removable-Earphones/dp/B000V1UGZ2/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t
It seems the Jabra uses headphones also...I am looking for one that does not need a headphone. Does such type of bluetooth caller id device exist? I've made some search but without any luck since I have stumbled on many that need a pair of headphone to function.

The BT8010 doesn't need the other headphone attached to work. You can use just the one earpiece with caller id. It even has vibrate function when recieving call and you can make calls from it without touching your phone.
I think they have another headset with caller ID with the option of adding another earpiece for music... I think its the Jabra BT800 or something like that.
Also, the sonorix clip I had a link to can be used with just one earpiece plugged in if you wanted.
I know this is an old thread... but it asks for exactly what I am looking for.
IE a bluetooth headset that has caller ID - but plugs straight into the ear as opposed to via headphone link.
It should be able to scroll through recent calls to dial through.
Has anybody comeacross anything like this?
Alright so there is an issue I have found and cannot figure out how to solve it. Android Auto starts up fine and works great with Bluetooth audio for music and navigation through the car stereo. But, as soon as a call comes in it defaults to the phones speaker and I cannot hear hardly, due to the location of the phone. Is there anyway to have the call audio come through the speakers and Bluetooth like everything else already does?
In the Bluetooth settings for the car stereo, does it include the phone audio profile and is it enabled?

My radios profile is setup with my phone fine. When I don't have the app open it functions fine with phone over Bluetooth. It is an issue with the app cause everything functions without it running but when it is up the calls come through speakerphone.

I'm having a similar issue with my Pixel handset. I don't have an android auto head unit so just use my phone mounted on the dash with AA installed, and connected to my cars system using a 3.5mm stereo jack cable. When making and receiving calls though it defaults to using the handset loudspeaker rather than outputting audio through the cable to my cars system.
I have had some issues as well...not totally similar to you but this is my issue.
Every time I start my car, Bluetooth connects as it should because I may not want to use AA (Android Auto) and may want to just listen to radio . I can listen to music from my phone. I can make and receive calls with no issue. My only requirement is that I have to lower the volume of the phone ringer to silent or else I hear the screech of death from the phone speakers when a call comes in. Not the normal situation or ideal at all. Anyway, i have tried to find a way to 1-Delay the time it takes for AA to connect to the HU or 2-Have the Phone go into Do Not Disturb when connecting to the car. I have not figured out a way to do either.
Well, if I decide to use AA, and click on the image on my HU (JVC-KW-M740BT), the same happens....no calls can come in without some sort of loud noise from the Phone speakers. everything else works.
I am just at a loss as to how to automatically set up the silent ringer on my phone when connected. I have been trying to use Llamalab's Automate app....and i have gotten close but no cigar.
If anyone can contribute solutions, to your problem or mine, that would be great.
I had to put in my phone type and such...

Hello,
I have many issues with the bluetooth too. The problem occurs when listening music in AA and switching to/from phone call mode. It's a bit random. I think there is a problem when switching the bluetooth profile. I'm running Oreo 8.1 (Lineage 15.1)
