Hi All,
Recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S2 from Gumtree online. It was only working on o2 network so got at unblocked from a guy at a market stall so that it works on all network sims. It was working fine for about a week but then randomly came up with a message saying "emergency calls only" and I coulnt make or recieve calls or texts even if i changed the sim to o2. The internet was still functioning correctly however.
Called network provider and have been told that there is a bar on it by an insurance company. Tried to get back to the seller but have not been able to contact him. Have reported him but I would just like to know is there any way to unblock this phone at all? Dont want to lose out on all the money spent on it. would it be worth downloading any unblocking applications if the phone has a bar on it?
Please any ideas, comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Apologies for the long message
Thanks
this section is for i9000 Galaxy S, not Galaxy S II, pay more attention please because here maybe we can't help you
Unlock the phone and flash to a generic firmware.
And please post in the correct sections to get help better.
Hello all,
I have been all around the intertubes in my day and have always been able to solve all of my technical problems with some advanced google searching, because if I am having this problem then someone out there has had it also and thought to ask right?
Not this time...
I bought this phone off craigslist, checked imei and it came back clean, got the phone running on t-mobile no problems at all, about 2 weeks later I get this RAC (Rent-A-Center) logo saying this phone won't work anymore yadayadayada, please call us with IMEI....my thoughts are someone sold me a phone they were leasing from RAC for a quick buck. I turned the phone on and it literally would not lot me access a single setting. Came up to an unlock screen wanting a Rent A Center associate PIN. I walked on down to RAC on my day off and they couldn't help me at all. They didn't even ask for the phone back, they informed me that the phone was "junk" and they couldn't even find out who it previously belonged to let alone unlock it for me (they didn't seem too interested in the latter).
I decided to take matters into my own hands and attempt to resolve this issue, no help what so ever out there. Plenty of RAC lock fixes for the s5 and other android phones but no specific help for my model. I attempt stock firmware through ODIN to no avail, then TWRP, custom roms, etc, etc etc, and it always comes up with the RAC lock screen.
I need help please, otherwise i'm out $325
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S6
Model: SM-G920T1 (as it says on back of phone)

Any other information needed I am happy to supply.
If anyone could please help me with this issue, I would be more than happy. I finally made the switch back to android and this is how it is going so far. Thank you for any help anyone could offer.

Hello everyone !
I've bought a used Galaxy S6. It appears it is an AT&T version. I live in France and I've a few problem with the network (error with mms...).
I wanted to get a root access and to be able to install any roms I want (without all this AT&T softwares...).
So I bought an used S920F motherboard.
I've followed a guide on Ifixit (I can't put the link as I don't have posted enough messages)
So far, the phone is working without any problem and I can install what I want (official, lineage, ...).
So, if you want to change the motherboard for a S920F model (40$ or so), the phone is still working (so far for me at least).
I just wanted to inform anyone that would be interest by this information (I've made some research without any clear answer).
Sorry for my english, it is not my primary langage.
Hi, I've owned a Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960F/DS, Dutch unbranded) for almost two years now.
I've always kept it at Android 8 as I didn't want to lose call recording, but I didn't know about the option to actually block updates so I just ignored the notifications.
Unfortunately my phone got updated recently (my fault, niece left alone with phone to play games on, wanted to help aunt... stupid mistake on my part).
I'm at Android 10 September 2020 update now.
I've been looking into downgrading (didn't work because apparently bootloader is updated) and changing csc without rooting (tried using *#272*IMEI# but that didn't do anything, after that tried the ChangeCSC Free Tool from this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82875851&postcount=181 but I couldn't get that to work either as Themes doesn't show 'Try it out' but only offers Delete, Update or Buy).
What is the best way to get call recording back on my phone?
I'm not averse to rooting my phone if I have to, but I don't know where to start and I don't have the funds to buy a new one so bricking it is something I'd like to avoid.
If you need more info, please let me know.
Try custom rom may be is the best solution.
Yep Dr's ROM
Best one
Call recording working 100%
custom rom will trip knox, and samsung pass and others samsung applications will not work.
Thank you all!
Husband looked at the Dr's ROM and did whatever he had to do to get it to work, and I have call recording again
Can anyone tell me if they're able to use Hey Google / Google Assistant voice commands on a Galaxy S10 that's been updated to Android 12?
I've been about 2 weeks now, and have failed to get dozen of more suggested fixes to solve the problem of voice commands not working on a renewed S10 I bought on Amazon. It was working out-of-the-box, but after activating the phone and installing a few apps, it hasn't worked since. I was on the phone with Samsung support for an hour or more, and even they weren't able to get it working.
If someone can confirm they have it working on a S10 with the Android 12 update, I'll go ahead and return this one for another. I do like the particularly bright 820 nits screen.
Fervently hoping to get one or more response(s) here on this S10 thread as I've not had luck elsewhere.
Hello TakuSkan, yes the google assistant still works just no more need to say "OK google" you just have to activate it in the parameter so you can choose your assistant between the 3 known bixby or google for alexia pariel you have to install the alexia application Amazon.
Please say hello when you post would be welcome thank you

Hello meric57!
Thanks ever so much for your feedback, That's encouraging to hear. Assistant was set and working when I 1st got the phone. But it seems I've exhausted every approach to get it back. I'm looking to use it for voice commands and hands free navigating Google Maps on my motorcycle via a Sena comms system..
The S10 originally came with Android 9 Pie, but all the renewed ones being sold now have been upgraded to 12 like mine. So you say you have or have seen Android 12 S10s where Assistant and voice commands do operate phone and navigating functions properly? Is that right?
For a while it all seemed to be coming down to wondering if 12 might have been at the root of my problem. But I'll stick with having Amazon swap this 12 S10 with another if folks with the same model & OS version have voice commands working properly.
Thanks again for your input meric57. Much appreciated!
hello,
Yes google assistant works just who no longer needs to say "ok google" just activate in the search parameter "google assistant" then once activate ask directly what you want
Hey...
Yeah, I'm able to ask Assistant whatever I want on my older phone since they dropped OK Google. I'm still wondering if your S10 has been updated to Android 12. Or if anyone else with a S10 with Android 12 can confirm voice commands work for them. I'm a little wary of the v12 upgrade.
Edit: OH! I just spotted "Galaxy S 10 SM-G973F UI Version 4.1 Android 12 XEF" in your signature. Great! Anyone else second this?
erase thank you
Hello TakuSkane, I just saw that you have S10 SM-G973U1 so I think it comes from your problem. Look here to read the first message https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/g973u-and-g973u1 -firmware-links-here.3905852/ you have the link for the firmware or ask here for your concern.
At worst, return your S10 to Amazon and take an S10 from an official operator.
Thanks for the info meric57. I'm not all that tech savvy when it comes to mobile devices. I don't see anything in the 1st post in that thread related to my issue. And it says the G973U1 is for the same phone but without all the carrier bloatware. Which sounds like it would be preferable. Are you suggesting that flashing to G973U might solve my problem?
Hello takuskan, the concern that you have these the S10 the motherboard install SM-G973U1. I do not know if your network and your operator works in your region or not read well all that is marked on the link that I put see more see the posts in the discussion thread.
Me, bixby-alexia-google assistant works on my S10 SM-G973F exynos 4 G.
Hey meric57. Since I can return the phone, that's the "easiest" way forward after chasing fixes for weeks now. I'll look for the G973U, G973U1, G973F models when I choose another. If all I can get that's affordable (cheap) is another G973U1, and if that one still has the problem, I'll follow up here and read through that thread you linked to. But as I've written, Assistant DID work when I 1st got the S10. Sooooo... we'll see. Thanks for being the only soul on these forums to give me a little feedback. In fact I've not gotten any other feedback on other support sites either.
Hello TakuSkan, I don't look at the price, I prefer to buy from an official SFR-orange operator... I'm sure I have a smartphone that works and hassle-free, take a phone from a market or sales site like amazon or others I don't buy I don't trust it tells you unlocked all operators ok my there is a network chip either US or Asia.
It is EU certified for the network
Sadly some folks have no choice but to cut corners as they navigate today's financial super highways.
