Question Canada 5G/VoLTE/Wi-Fi calling - OnePlus 10 Pro

Any Canadians have the 10 pro? I'm assuming wifi calling, 5g and volte still don't work? But figured if ask.
Any of the workarounds working?
TIA

WiFi Calling should work on Freedom. They are the only carrier that use the stock implementation of WiFi Calling in Canada. 5G works on Telus and Bell.

Are you sure? I don't call much, but if I am on wifi it usually says WiFi Call or something. I'm on bell.
As for 5g I'm not sure. I'm only ever in 4g unless I need like a new Sim for 5g. Never looked into that at all. Same with volte.

Freedom was pretty much a T-Mobile clone at the base of the service and implementation in the beginning. Band 4/66 service and stock Google implementations for VoLTE and WiFi Calling.
With Bell/Telus, there have been some changes going on. T-Mobile has been their roaming partner for quite a few years now so implementing the stock Google implementation would definitely be welcome. On my Telus SIM, I do not get WiFi Calling enabled but I do on my T-mobile SIM when connected to the Bell/Telus network.
I can always check my WiFi Calling profile for Telus to make sure everything is good there since I haven't really used it since the days of my LG V30.

If you make a phone call you can see if it flips over to 3g. If it stays on LTE during the call you're good

My T-Mobile OP7 Pro wasn't supposed to have WiFi calling but there was a hidden menu you could access via the dialer to access and turn it on. I'm curious if that's the case for the 10 pro

I was speaking to a Telus Network Engineer yesterday that talked a lot about the 3G shutdown coming to Canada, finally. When this happens, they will require VoLTE to work since 5G in Canada, is NSA only and their deployment just isn't capable of 5G SA. I ended up flashing my 8T back to the EU firmware and using the OnePlus 7 Pro Engineering and LogKit apps, was able to enable VoLTE and confirmed it worked with the Engineer because they could see the call using it through the tower I was connected to. The Engineering and Logkit apps from the OnePlus 7 Pro are rumored to work with all OnePlus devices to allow you to enable WiFi Calling and VoLTE, if they aren't available through your SIM options under Network Settings.

Yeah. The Engineering apps from the 7 Pro on Android 11 do not work at all on Android 12. As much as they call it Oxygen OS 12, it is really Colors 12. I have disabled the system update app after rolling my device back to Android 11 to ensure I don't get annoyed with update notifications and the potential auto update after ignoring it for so long. Android 13 should be the return to what is hopefully closer to OOS11.

I have not succeeded in getting WiFi calling or VoLTE working on the Freedom network with my 10 Pro. This is especially frustrating now with the US shutting down all of their 3G towers - I'm not sure if I'll be able to make phone calls when travelling to the US anymore.

I can't say I ever noticed delayed notifications, but then again I don't do anything that requires instant notification really...
Nothing against the petition, but I don't consider this a major issue at all (it should still be fixed nonetheless). For a nice example of a major issue however, how about inevitable surfaceflinger memory leaks causing reboots on Nexus 10s?

Its not just notifications. Try downloading something and turn your screen off. The download either pauses or becomes awfully slow after sometime. The WiFi also sleeps when the phone sleeps. A custom kernel with the experimental WiFi drivers fixes this.

Can't even say I noticed this either on my Nexus 4. Notice it greatly on my Nexus 10 however, and I just factory restored both devices (downloaded all my apps in like 10 minutes on my slow DSL connection on my N4, screen timeout at 1 minute; still downloading the same apps on my N10 an hour later also with the same screen timeout; heck sometimes it wasn't even downloading anything until I woke it...)
It will be fixed in 4.3. I don't think we need a Petition for it at this point.

It's not Google's fault exactly. The driver is supplied by Qualcomm. Qualcomm has recently fixed this issues and the fix should be available in the next android update.

When I completely restart the phone, RAM usage is at 1.32GB so Samsung did address this issue slightly.
I did experience recent apps delay when I had 4 games opened in the background, but the games did not reload when I switched to them.

I've noticed that the Quadrant benchmark tool reports a lower performance number than before; 5500 versus 29000. Perhaps the update includes processing bandwidth restrictions for apps.

Possible to mod Nexus 6 to have Nexus Imprint fingerprint sensor?

So I read an article previously that the Nexus 6 was suppose to have a fingerprint sensor in the little circle dippy spot the M logo is but it didn't happen.
Then I found this article: http://www.droid-life.com/2015/08/05/this-nexus-6-prototype-with-fingerprint-reader-is-neat/
After looking at the Nexus 5x teardown, I got to thinking if it would be possible to get a spare Nexus 6 back panel and drill or cut out the hole for the fingerprint sensor and somehow wire it into the Nexus 6?
This is by far just a thought at this point, but if the phone was possibly going to have it originally, perhaps the chips are possible to solder the board in somehow and then marshmallow perhaps would recognize it and allow it to be used like it was always there?
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+5X+Teardown/51318 Setp 6 shows the sensor
If you look at the Nexus 6 teardown, and look at the pictures that show the camera in Step 9, specifically this picture:

It looks almost like there is a set of contacts that match up perfectly to those of the fingerprint sensor from the N5X. So, pending the HW would recognize it's connected, there'd have to be a way to enable it in N6 SW, so you'd probably need root/custom ROM.
Yea the chip board looks similar. I think I recall reading that marshmallow has the native fingerprint software built in. If thats the case, perhaps that would activate it internally if it were just hooked up, or a simple command line would do it. Perhaps someone would be brave enough to attempt it or know more to make it possible (if we can purchase the fingerprint reader cheap enough on the side).
My wife getting the 5x, I love the ease/quickness of the unlocking, but not enough to go from a Nexus 6 to a 6p and lose my Qi charging.
If this does end up being possible, I'd be temped, especially considering the absolute plunging price for a Nexus 6 (they're down to $289 on amazon!).
It may be more realistic than most people think, there's a video from google that shows an original Nexus 5 modified with a fingerprint sensor.

Perhaps it will take awhile to get the part cost down to a reasonable cost on this part. Only one I could find is about $82 on ebay, and its not worth that to me unless the costs come down a lot eventually.

When the first Samsung vibrant American model came out, it didn't have front facing camera but was equipped for it since the European model had ffc. I ended up ordering the camera, using nail polish remover to clean the ffc hole of the black paint and installing the camera. I had to run international rom for it to work obviously. But long story shortened, this could be an interesting dig. Keep us updated, whoever decides to try this

Yes but to be honest the 5x is a downgrade compared to the n6. So other then the fingerprint scanner it would be a bad idea.
Also here at XDA IT is better to mod your current device then wasting money to buy a new one.

Question Proximity sensor not working

Hi,
On my new 10Pro the proximity sensor doesn't really work.
99% of time it doesn't work.
On dailer and also on whatsapp voice message
Maybe this can help you https://www.webcazine.com/16981/qa-miui-7-how-to-calibrate-the-proximity-sensor-on-my-xiaomi-phone/
For me work fine but i know is a comon bug/problem in some xiaomi devices
This doesn't exist on redmi note 10 pro
Hello everyone.
I have my phone for about 5 days now, and i have the same problem.
It would be nice to see Xiaomi fix this soon with an update .
Best regards,
Luís Coelho.
Hello, the "bug" could be solved by software update? Or the bug is a hardware problem?
It seems that Redmi Note 10 Pro hasn't proximity sensor. Has a IA that knows when display has to be powered off.
Youtube
In my case I have been able to verify that the sensor works when the mobile is placed vertically, simulating that it has been placed near the ear as if it were on a call.
With WhatsApp/Telegram audio it have the same behaviour.
I just had a rom update to version Miui Global 12.0.10.0 Stable, and for now it seems that everything is working ok. But i haven't done enough testing to say for sure that this was it. Will see how it goes, bt for now, i still keep my good expectations .
PS- Thanks josedo90 for the youtube video. Interesting to know.

Most of the things I have been reading are complaints... I am staying on A11 for now.
Try Samsung band selection.
My experience with One UI 4 has been good. Some lags but seems to have been fixed by January update.
Some G998B has been having issues from what I've read but nothing major on the G9980.
I have had no issues whatsoever. Everything works.

Same here. Everything good to go.
I made the switch when I took the phone out of the box however, so I've no experience with 11. Going to flash it later today to see if I can get even more performance out of it.
As someone who just came from the Pixel 6 Pro to the S21 Ultra, I can confidently say Samsung did a better job of rolling out 12 than Google did.
No bugs other than a blank screen if I exit Netflix using Nova launcher.
Other than that it's been totally smooth and works very well.
If the other poster can't access the Phone Information Menu with stock phone app, use the Google phone/dialer app and it works.
