Hi, a few months ago I replaced the rom on my global phone with the Indonesia rom. Is it safe for me to install OTA updates via MIUI updater app? I heard that Chinese RN105G flashed with global rom gets bricked when doing so, but global and ID rom are very similar though.
i found a guide on ghizchina, where is explained that via twrp is possible and it's safe

Hello,
Today i got my brand new mi8 (from china).
Unluckily, it has some ****ty custom ROM with no actualisation feature. I can't even install offical global rom or unlock bootloader.
So I need to flash my device - and here's the question.
How can I flash my ****ty rom to a offical global rom? as this post says it's forbidden https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/firmware-global-china-stock-firmware-t3818194
So should I flash to a china rom, than unlock bootloader and than install official global/some xiaomi.eu? Any simple solution would be great.

UPDATE : I found hidden update app and installed global miui 9.6.1.0(OEAMIFD), but I still have ads in MI browser, etc. Will reseting phone to the fabric settings work?

i have recently purchsed MI 8SE from china and since then trying to find Global fastboot rom. However, many says that it is not released yet. My question is can i use twrp to switch from chinese to global since global recovery rom is availbale if yes, then how?. Note: i have already unlocked my bootloder.

Hi, you should use the search function on Q&A thread, this question has been answered many times.
You can find step by step to install TWRP, custom MIUI rom (masik,revolutionOS..), gsi image, etc
*unlock bootloader
*Flash TWRP
*Pick a custom MIUI rom that you desired (xiaomi.eu, mi-globe, and etc) download it and flash via twrp
Hey everyone
I ordered my Mi 9 on Amazon and received it two days ago. When I used it for the first time, I noticed it was running on MIUI Global 10.2.28.0 (which is the EEA version).
After messing a bit with ROM flashing I ended up flashing a Global ROM over the EEA one with XiaoMi Tool V2, all that with locked bootloader (I can't unlock it yet).
The problem is that right now I can't flash the EEA ROM over the Global one, it says that my version is illegal or that I can only flash new firmwares.
Is there a way to get back to the EEA ROM without unlocking the bootloader?
EDIT : I've found my answer, I can't. I'll wait to unlock my bootloader and install the Xiaomi.eu ROM since I'm living in an EEA country

As you I'm waiting 50 hours for unlocking my bootloader and i'll flash it, still downloaded. i hope this rom will be less buggy than the orange rom i have.
Just installed trough recovery zip and app updater (my bootloader is locked).
Everything seems fine, will update soon in case of problems

I guess you can only use this method if you bought a global phone that shipped with a global ROM (not CN ROM) from the outset?

This new rom is an EA Global so I think it is safe to flash only if you have the same base!

Here too without problems. Update from recovery zip from 12.0.4.
